Office 365 hybrid deployment setup

We are currently migratin to Office 365 from ExchaNGE 2003 USING AN Exchange 2010 Hybrid server.
When running the hybrid configuration wizard, we get the following error:
Updating hybrid configuration failed with error 'System.Management.Automation.Remoting.PSRemotingTransportException: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : The server certificate on the destination computer (ps.outlook.com:443)
has the following errors:
The SSL certificate could not be checked for revocation. The server used to check for revocation might be unreachable. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.
We are not using a proxy server and we have no blocks in our firewall. We did a packet capture and the traffic indicates Our exchange server is not accepting the cert sent by ps.outlook.com. Client and server do the SSL handshake and after receiving the
cert, our exchange server closes the session and generates the error.
Any idea on how to resolve this?
Russ

  • Certificate configuring for exchange 2013 and office 365 hybrid deployment

Please advise on what digital certificate requirements for hybrid deployment and to configure it.

    Hi sphilip,
If you want to deploy AD FS with Single Sign-On(SSO), we need use certificate to establish secure trust between on-premises Exchange 2013 and Office online.
We can use and configure a trusted third-part CA within all on-premises Exchange 2013 Mailbox and Client Access servers to ensure secure mail transport, more details about

  • Certificates for Office 365 Hybrid Exchange 2010 Exchange Online v15

Certificates for Office 365 Hybrid Exchange 2010 Exchange Online v15
We need to set up a hybrid server to allow us to begin moving mailboxes to Exchange Online. We created a new Server 2012 R2 server with Exchange 2013 SP1 to act as our Hybrid server. Reading the literature leaves me with questions about what
certificates I need.  My understanding is that the certificates in play on the on-premise Exchange 2010 servers don't need to be changed.
I've looked at the TechNet article "Certificate requirements for hybrid deployments"
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh563848(v=exchg.150).aspx
Certificate requirements for the new Exchange 2013 SP1 server are still unclear to me, I think the new server needs a SAN certificate with:
    Hybridserver.domain.edu
    autodiscover.domain.edu
    EWS.domain.edu
    Can anyone clarify?

Cert is required only if you want to deploy ADFS for SSO.
Otherwise you can use your existing Cert for all the Services

  • Hybrid Lync on-prem, Office 365 exchange deployment.

    Good afternoon all,
I have received invaluable advice and support from these forums but for the last month have been scouring them for possible fixes to my problem as it stands now.
I am having an issue with getting the call log and calendar to display on a CX700 (4.0.7577.4420) Lync Phone Edition device.  We have on-prem Lync servers but use Office 365 hosted exchange environment.
I receive the error "Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable due to invalid network credentials.  For details, tap on Notifications seen at the top of your phone."   Voicemail works and Unified Messaging is enabled.  I
do see my Lync messages and calls updated in Conversation History.
I am using a USB cable to connect to the phone and enter my Lync credentials on my PC to login on the phone which of course differ from my Office 365 credentials.
I have verified the autodiscover records exist.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Were your SIP domain the same with SMTP domain?
Please check if desktop client have the same problem.
Check if account with the same credential for Lync and Exchange has the same issue.
Check if this issue only happened on CX700 Lync Phone Edition device.
For further troubleshooting, try to collect log file and sent the log.
You can locate the log file under the path like
\\fileserver\LyncShare\*WebServices*\DeviceUpdateLogs\... on Lync Server Front End Server.

  • Exchange 2013 Office 365 Hybrid Cloud On-Premise Outlook Connection Problem

    Hi Everyone,
We are required to migrate FROM the cloud TO an on-premise Exchange 2013 server.  We set up a trial of Office365 and linked our test domain to that account.  The test domain mimics our current domain, but ends in .net instead of .org.
We set up a test Exchange 2013 server with a few database servers.  Internally, we can connect without issue (Outlook).  We mapped our test CAS to face the Internet, and can access what we need without issue.  We also set up the Hybrid
configuration on both the Exchange 2013 and Office365 servers.  We have validated that DirSync works, and migration can occur up to the cloud and back down to the on-premise server.
    Now, here is the issue:
We have our DNS records still pointing to Office365, so when we add an Office365 mailbox to Outlook (internal to the network or outside the network) we see absolutely no issues.  We migrated a mailbox today to our on-premise server, but upon doing so,
can no longer connect to, or add, that mailbox to Outlook.  When we put this integration in to effect for production, we want to be able to migrate mailboxes on-premise from the cloud, and we want to make sure users can still access their mailboxes.  This
also goes for distribution groups, conference rooms, etc.
I see that most suggestions say to change your DNS record to point to the on-premise Exchange server, which is great, but after doing so Office365 accounts experience the same issue as above.  We NEED to make sure that when we batch migrate, the users
DO NOT lose connectivity to their accounts.  We need both Office365 accounts and Exchange on-premise accounts are accessible internally and externally.  As an extra tid-bit, we HAVE configured Outlook Anywhere on Exchange 2013, but see no difference.
Any thoughts on this?  Office365 and Exchange 2013 see eachother and recognize that the hybrid environment is set up good, but it appears we are missing some configurations.  Currently, we have a CNAME record points our autodiscover to autodiscover.outlook.com.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated.  Thanks!
    Dan

    Hi,
Here is an article on Move mailboxes between on-premises and Exchange Online organizations in 2013 hybrid deployments, for your reference:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj906432(v=exchg.150).aspx
I want to make sure OWA works well with the moved mailbox.
To use CNAME based autodiscover method, we need to have all domain names present in a SAN certificate.
With Exchange 2013 CU1, we now have the option of adding multiple SMTP domains to Exchange Federation/Hybrid configuration and we can specify which of these domains should act the "autodiscover" domain.
To configure an SMTP domain as the autodiscover domain, you can run following command:
    Set-HybridConfiguration -Domains "domain1.com, domain2.com, domain3.com", "autod:domain.com"

  • Office 365 email deployment using Outlook 2010 and PRF files

    Hi,
I've been struggling to get Outlook 2010 setup with a new Office 365 deployment. I would like to use custom PRF files to get the new Outlook profiles configured. I have more than 100 users.
One of PRF files I'm using is shown at the end of this message. Each user will get a custom PRF file with his/her information already configured (mailbox, server name, etc...). I've obtained the corresponding Exchange server using:
    Get-Mailbox <email> | select ExchangeGUID
I've attached the domain at the end of the GUID and then that's the Exchange server. It matches what you get with Outlook using Autodiscover.
Using these PRF fies I'm able to create a new default profile and set all the parameters as if I had create the profile manually. Two problems here though:
    1) I don't know what to change in the PRF file to set the Logon Network Security to Anonymous Authentication under the Security tab (Exchange account properties)
    2) When Outlook asks me for the username and password, it won't take it, and I know I'm using the right credentials. If I create the profile manually (not using Autodiscover) and I use the same configuration parameters in the PRF file, everything is ok. I have
already run all the updates and tools that come as part of Setup Desktop in Office 365. Actually I get the same results with Outlook 2013.
I'm looking for some help here or ideas how to roll Office 365 without having to go user by user and creating a new profile and waiting for Autodiscover to finish :)

Wow, even if we were to find out what to add to the PRF, it turns out each user mailbox has it's own unique server name (aka Virtual Connection Point). I cannot believe two departments of Microsoft aren't talking to each other!!!! ..... wait, that always
happens. 1 week later and probably 100 hours later I am just going to create a simple how-to for each user.
Here is the link I just found explaining the "virtual connection points". http://www.blackmanticore.com/2c209fbaa93ae6cf8f8dac5b50281f2e
I'm sure NEXT YEAR Microsoft will catch up with itself and add this option/feature in the Office Customization Tool to create PRF files that will actually work with their services.

  • Mixing on-premise and Office 365 Lync deployment - slightly complicated

    Hi,
I wonder if anyone could help with a configuration/deployment issue we've got.
The environment has some slight complications so bear with me:
We have a small development environment say called, XYZ.com - unfortunately when it was created the domain was actually called XYZ.com rather than something like XYZ.local. That aside it's a small environment hosting an on-premise Exchange and Lync deployment.
Exchange does not handle email for XYZ.com domain instead it uses a different domain, say for example, XYZtest.com. Lync works fine if I login using the XYZtest.com email address sip.
There is also a separate Office 365 deployment which so happens to also use the XYZ.com which is used by various people dotted around the world as part of the organisation. This has both and Exchange and Lync online service.
My question is - how can I use Lync to login to both my local, on-premise Lync service as well as the Lync Online service? I don't necessarily need the logged in simultaneously - I just need to be able to login to either service.
What DNS config should I be have? (ie. SRV, CNAME records, etc.)
Also the other thing to note is that there is potential for confusion as both the local domain XYZ.com is the same used for the Office 365 one and so need to ensure I can force Lync to keep them seperated.
Any help or suggestion would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    E

Yes If you have the latest updates installed for the Lync you can at a time you can login to one Lync setup
for each sip domain wether online or or premise you need the following DNS records
For all clients except for the Lync Windows Store app During DNS lookup, SRV records are queried and returned to the client in the following order:
lyncdiscoverinternal.<domain>   A (host) record for the Autodiscover service on the internal Web services
lyncdiscover.<domain>   A (host) record for the Autodiscover service on the external Web services
_sipinternaltls._tcp.<domain>   SRV (service locator) record for internal TLS connections
_sipinternal._tcp.<domain>   SRV (service locator) record for internal TCP connections (performed only if TCP is allowed)
_sip._tls.<domain>   SRV (service locator) record for external TLS connections
sipinternal.<domain>   A (host) record for the Front End pool or Director, resolvable only on the internal network
sip.<domain>   A (host) record for the Front End pool or Director on the internal network, or the Access Edge service when the client is external
sipexternal.<domain>   A (host) record for the Access Edge service when the client is external

  • Office 365 ProPlus deployment and Automation

I will starting a project deploying office 365 ProPlus in an enterprise and seeking assistance on following:-
    customer Scenario:
    1- SCCM 2012 R2
    2- Active Directory 2008 R2
3- Mix of Office 2010/2013 professional installed on client machine
I would like to understand following:-
    Installation Scenario:
1- on Office 2013 installed desktop, can I run office 365 Proplus installation on top of existing office 2013 client (standalone)
2- on Office 2010 installed desktop, can I run office 365 Proplus installation on top of existing office 2010 client (standalone)
    Uninstallation Scenario:
1- if existing Office need to be removed before deploying cloud Office, what is the best procedure to automate the installation of existing office client from desktop pc either using group policy or SCCM.
I am looking for fully automated uninstallation procedure irrespective of existing Office version or separately for Office 2010 and Office 2013 either using group policy or SCCM.
    Farrukh Anwar

    Hi Farrukh,
For the installation scenario, you can run the latest version of Office (click-to-run based version) side-by-side with an earlier version of Office that is already installed on your computer. That is to say:
MSI-based version of Office 2013 on a system with Click-To-Run-based version of Office 2013 (Office 365 Proplus ) installed side-by-side is not supported.
MSI-based version of Office 2010 and Click-To-Run-based version of Office 2013 (Office 365 Proplus ) will run side-by-side, but we don't recommend this for a long-term use.
Regarding the uninstallation scenario, you can automate the uninstallation of existing Office via
command line. It will look similar to the following example:
    \\server\share\Office12\setup.exe /uninstall ProPlus /config <pathtoUninstallconfig.xml>\UninstallConfig.xml
You can easily integrate this command line into SCCM or a Group Policy computer startup scripts.
Here is a great blog post about how to upgrade to the latest version of Office, you might want to have a look:

    Hope this helps.

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office

  • Office 365 Hybrid

Just wanted to ask one question, we are setting up hybrid deployment but we just wanted to run Dirsync and only synchronize some OU's not all our AD, I was told that if we use Dirsync and Password synchronization option that is possible but if we are
going to use Dirsync, ADFS and ADFS proxy (Federation) option then we need to first synchronize the whole AD first, is this true ? If it is true, what is the connection between office 365 and the federation option and what is the relation of this with Dirsync
that says you choose an OU you want to synchronize. We don't mind having a common GAL if that is the condition. User in the cloud may not see users on-premises in the address book.

You can use OU level filtering:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/denotation/archive/2012/11/21/installing-and-configure-dirsync-with-ou-level-filtering-for-office365.aspx
Personally, I have no experience with this. You could use AD FS and AD FS Proxy because Federation is only for single-sign-on with your on-prem AD and Office 365. There are two authentication methods available with AD FS: active and passive.
    Hope this helps.

  • Looking for some Office 365 Hybrid Migration help

Basically I just need to talk this out with someone, as I'm not a pro with mail processing and setup, and just want to make sure I do the right setup, at the right time, to keep email downtime to an absolute minimum. Project: Move on-premise Exchange 2013 to a hybrid solution with O365, moving our full-time users to O365 and leave our part-time staff on internal server since they don't use email often and don't need the flexibility (nor our cost) of the license.
Initial setup:On-premise Exchange 2013, using the cloud product "Websense Perimeter Email Protection" that basically syncs to our AD and acts as a first-line-of-defense that only allows email to come through to accounts that are in our AD system. Current:All AD accounts synced to O365 using on-premise DirSync, and licenses purchased for the few accounts I'll test with for now....

  • On-Prem to Office 365 - Hybrid

can I in some way publish selected content from the On-prem SP to the SP online instans with powesrshell or any other way?
    Where's there a "how-to" ?

    Hi JmATK,
We currently provide guidance for deploying the following SharePoint hybrid solutions: Search, Business Connectivity Services (BCS), and Duet Enterprise Online, however we cannot publish content from On-prem to SharePoint Online directly, see more about
hybrid for SharePoint 2013 from below article.
Overview of hybrid SharePoint 2013 for technical decision makers
    Hybrid for SharePoint Server 2013
If you want to connect to SharePoint on-prem from O365 to read the content, even operate the content, you man want to check BCS hybrid configuration.
Deploy a Business Connectivity Services hybrid solution in SharePoint 2013
If I understood incorrectly above, please feel free to tell us how you want to "publish" the seletected content from SharePoint on-prem.
