Office 365 Licensing

Evening Experts
I have setup a small business with 10 workstations in a client/server environment, each workstation is joined to a domain. The business has 20 users with their own AD login account, these users will randomly access any 10 of these workstation. My question
is do i need to purchase 20 Office 365 licenses or can i purchase 10 and any 10 users can have access the applications from any workstation?
Many Thanks

  • No Power BI for Office 365 License???

    Hi,
    we have installed the free Power BI SharePoint App. We have assigned the free license to two users.
    It now says correctly that we have 999998 of 1000000 licenses left. So far, so good :-)
    But...when I click "Power BI" in the left navigation pane, the App seems to start but then:
    "Keine Power BI für Office 365-Lizenz
    Sie besitzen anscheinend keine Benutzerabonnementlizenz für Power BI für Office 365."
    Which means in english: "No Power BI for Office 365 License...You don't have a user subscription license for Power BI for Office 365".
    But we do have assigend the license to these two users!
    Anybody have an idea what I can do?
    We would even pay for Power BI but there is no link where we can buy the full license?
    Thanks
    Malte

    I have the same problem as Jamie
    I added Power BI to my E4 subscription.  However, when trying to access Power BI link on the left side of the screen, i get "No Power BI for Office 365 License" ask your admin.
    I'm one of the office 365 admins and have a license assigned to myself already. I have deleted the app and re-added it with no luck so far.
    Can you help please and suggest how to fix this?
    Thank you so much in advance for your help

  • Manage Office 365 Licensing via Azure API

    I am at a loss. We have an issue with limited available licenses for Office 365 Pro Plus for users to use on their home/personal machines. As a result we can not add all of our users, nor does anyone want to manage this manually.
    The solution I proposed is to write a web portal where users can go and selectively apply a license for their account. On the back end, the page would execute an API of some kind to Azure and assign a license. In return, they can also go to remove the license
    if they so desire (It will never happen but give the option).
    What is the best way of doing this? The Azure management portal is extremely confusing and I can not figure out where to begin... I created an API that I can't even figure out how to use and I'm not even sure that I will be able to accomplish this using
    an API. Any suggestions?
    I am using Visual Studio 2013 and at this point purely using a bare bones console app just to see if I can get connected and execute a test API.
    Thanks!
    Tony

    Hi,
    Your second sentence is unclear "We have an issue with limited available licenses for Office 365 Pro Plus for users to use on their home/personal machines".
    Users can install Office 365 ProPlus on up to five different computers with a single Office 365 license. For example, a user can have Office 365 ProPlus installed on a computer in the office, on a laptop to use when traveling, and on a home computer.
    With that in mind, do you really need to create this API?
    Here's some more info on the Pro Plus license:
    To use Office 365 ProPlus, a user must have an Office 365 account and have been assigned a license. If you, as the Office 365 administrator for your organization, remove a user’s license or account, the user’s installations of Office 365 ProPlus go into
    reduced functionality mode.
    Even though users don’t need to be connected to the Internet all the time to use Office 365 ProPlus, users must connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days. This is so that the status of their Office 365 subscriptions can be checked. If users don’t
    connect within 30 days, Office 365 ProPlus goes into reduced functionality mode. After users connect to the Internet and their subscription status is verified, all the features of Office 365 ProPlus are available again.

  • Stream 8 - Office 365 license

    I just got the HP Stream 8, and I am loving it. It is a great little device for a fantastic price, really, and I love being able to use Office on it.
    The problem is, I already have an Office 365 family subscription, so the Office 365 personal that comes with the tablet is a bit pointless. Is there a way to let somebody else use the sub that comes with the tablet? I don´t want to waste a perfectly good Office sub .

    Hey @Rsenserrich ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    I understand you're wondering if the free MS Office 365 subscription can be transferred to another person.
    HP doesn't really have control over how Microsoft chooses to manage there licenses. My best guess would be that the offer is contingent on making the purchase of a Windows tablet and is therefor locked to said tablet.
    However, if you would like a definite answer it would be best to inquire with Microsoft directly. You can reach them here: Office Support or by calling phone support at 1-800-642-7676.

    hello,
    Office 365 is licensed per user subscription for one year. you can renew your subscription after the first year expired, if not than you do not have Access to Office 365 on Microsoft datacenter.
    for more Details, you can download the online Service use rights document from this link:

  • How to get the Office 365 license when purchasing Stream 7?

     I am setting up my Stream 7 today but there is no indication of where I find the 25 digit Activation Key for my free 1 year subscription of Office 365.
    Anybody here know how to sign up?
    Many thanks.

    Hello @Pappy22 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    I understand you're looking for information on activating your free 1 year subscription to Office 365 Personal.
    Product activation is not handled by forum users, but to the best of my knowledge you should not need a registration key to activate the software. There should be an activation available once you launch the Office 365 software on the computer that prompts you to register and activate the software.
    If it is asking for a key for the 1 year subscription check the packaging for a registration card that may include a key. If you do not find this please contact HP Phone Support. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. • Microsoft Office 365 Licenses

    I am trying to build a quote for a new server. I know that i need RDP licenses but what do I need for Microsoft Office. The systems connecting to the server already have either a 2010 license or a 365 activated. I also have 5 other users using Remote Desktop
    and they use Office products directly on the server.
    Now that i want to switch to 2012 R2 Standard, what type of products need to be installed on the server and how many? I get too many different answers.

    Are you dealing with a Microsoft reseller for purchasing the products?  They can help you with the proper licensing.  That's why Microsoft trains them.

  • Steps to deploy Lync for users who own Office 365 E1/E2 licenses, but don't have Office 365 E3, using Office Deployment tool.

    After many hours of debugging with Microsoft support the system to install the Lync Client silently can be done with a SINGLE LINE command.  The steps to take are below. It should be an easy next step to put this as GPO installation since
    it is a simple command.
    Comments appreciated.
    side question: Why is there no Lync 2013 or Lync Office 365 forum?
    Basic steps to deploy Lync for users who own Office 365 E2 licenses, but don’t have Office 365 E3, using Office Deployment tool.
    This also applies for other Office 365 service types where the full office suite download is not included.  In April 2015 This was impossible to find online and not know by the Lync support team.
    Steps are:
    Download the Office deployment tool from
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=36778 and extract it to a folder. For this
    example we will use the \\server\sharename
    location.
    Extracting it creates a setup.exe file and it show a sample XML file.
    2. Create XML file and give it a name such as LyncEntryRetail.xml
    Note: The key is the productID that has to be the “LyncEntryRetail”. Other product IDs will download a version that needs another office 365 license. The productID “LyncRetail” needs an E3 license of Office 365.
    <Configuration>
      <Add SourcePath="\\server\sharename" OfficeClientEdition="32" >
        <Product ID="LyncEntryRetail">
          <Language ID="en-us" />
        </Product>
      </Add>
    </Configuration>
    3. From the folder where you extracted the Office deployment tool, run the following command on the command prompt to download the source files and store them on the shared drive:
     (on single line)
    Setup.exe /download LyncEntryRetail.xml
    (This is the name of the XML file created above)
    One can also run the same on a server share by using UNC path names such as  (on single line)
    \\servername\sharename\Setup.exe /download
    \\servername\sharename\LyncEntryRetail.xml
    (This is the name of the XML file created above)
    4. Run the following command on the command prompt on a machine where you want to install the software: (on single line)
    \\servername\sharename\Setup.exe /configure
    \\servername\sharename\LyncEntryRetail.xml
    (This is the name of the XML file created above)
    Once you are comfortable that it all works, you may want to edit the XML file if you want to have silent installation and add the following lines.
      <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
      <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />

  • Why users with E1 license can use Azure Right Management on Office 365?

    Hello All,
    We have bought 30 E3 Licenses on my office 365 tenant?. However, E1 users can send mail with Azure Right Management policies on Outook?
    Why does it happens?
    Regards
    Jose Osorio

    Hi Jose,
    As far as I know, for Enterprise E1 plan, subscribers can only add Office 365 Message Encryption on a per-user basis by purchasing Windows Azure Rights Management. You might want to have a check and see if you've added this for E1 users.

  • Office 365 RDS licensing question

    Dustin, take a look at this when you get a chance: http://blogs.technet.com/b/uspartner_ts2team/archive/2014/09/03/office-365-shared-computer-activatio...
    It explains how the Pro Plus version can be installed in RDS/TS environment, and I get the feeling that it is the only version that can be installed that way.
    It also notes that installing Office 365 Pro Plus on an RDS/TS machine does not take away from the 5 device cap.

    Office 365 has nothing to do with RDS.
    If a user has an Office 365 license then they can use that license wherever they log on from. So if the are using a RDS session on a server then they can use there Office 365 license there. Please note that an Office 365 license allows you to install the full suite on 5 devices and the RDS server would be one of these devices.
    Connecting to the RDS server is entirely different. In order to connect they user or device must have a RDS license.
    The 2 are unrelated.
    I assume from the context of your question that you already have the RDS environment set up and working so it is as simple as installing the office 365 suite onto the RDS server and allowing the 3 users to use it.
