Office 365 Lync and AD photo setting.

Hi all
We have Office 365 and ADFS and we use Lync online 365.
How we can force the Lync client using only AD´s photo?
Please help.

From My understanding using Dirsync has limit on the size of photo it can sync from on-premise AD

Office 365 customers can set the thumbnailPhoto attribute in on-premise Active Directory to have user photos synchronized to Office 365 via Directory Synchronization (DirSync). Exchange Online limits photo size to 10KB. The script sample obtains photo size

  • Mixing on-premise and Office 365 Lync deployment - slightly complicated

    Hi,
    I wonder if anyone could help with a configuration/deployment issue we've got.
    The environment has some slight complications so bear with me:
    We have a small development environment say called, XYZ.com - unfortunately when it was created the domain was actually called XYZ.com rather than something like XYZ.local. That aside it's a small environment hosting an on-premise Exchange and Lync deployment.
     Exchange does not handle email for XYZ.com domain instead it uses a different domain, say for example, XYZtest.com. Lync works fine if I login using the XYZtest.com email address sip.
    There is also a separate Office 365 deployment which so happens to also use the XYZ.com which is used by various people dotted around the world as part of the organisation. This has both and Exchange and Lync online service.
    My question is - how can I use Lync to login to both my local, on-premise Lync service as well as the Lync Online service? I don't necessarily need the logged in simultaneously - I just need to be able to login to either service.
    What DNS config should I be have? (ie. SRV, CNAME records, etc.)
    Also the other thing to note is that there is potential for confusion as both the local domain XYZ.com is the same used for the Office 365 one and so need to ensure I can force Lync to keep them seperated.
    Any help or suggestion would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    E

    Yes If you have the latest updates installed for the Lync you can at a time you can login to one Lync setup
    for each sip domain wether online or or premise you need the following DNS records
    For all clients except for the Lync Windows Store app During DNS lookup, SRV records are queried and returned to the client in the following order:
    lyncdiscoverinternal.<domain>   A (host) record for the Autodiscover service on the internal Web services
    lyncdiscover.<domain>   A (host) record for the Autodiscover service on the external Web services
    _sipinternaltls._tcp.<domain>   SRV (service locator) record for internal TLS connections
    _sipinternal._tcp.<domain>   SRV (service locator) record for internal TCP connections (performed only if TCP is allowed)
    _sip._tls.<domain>   SRV (service locator) record for external TLS connections
    sipinternal.<domain>   A (host) record for the Front End pool or Director, resolvable only on the internal network
    sip.<domain>   A (host) record for the Front End pool or Director on the internal network, or the Access Edge service when the client is external
    sipexternal.<domain>   A (host) record for the Access Edge service when the client is external

  • Error during the migration of Lync 2013 onpremise user to Office 365 Lync

    Hi,
    I am trying to migrate a Lync 2013 onpremise user to Office 365 Lync in a Hybrid environment.
    I am connecting to the Lync server from my machine with the following commands
    $lyncOptions = New-PSSessionOption -SkipRevocationCheck -SkipCACheck -SkipCNCheck
    $lync = New-PSSession -ConnectionUri https://lyncserver/ocspowershell -SessionOption $lyncOptions -Authentication NegotiateWithImplicitCredential
    Import-PSSession $lync
    In the next step I am trying to migrate the user to the Office 365 Lync:
    Move-CsUser -Identity "username" -Target 'sipfed.online.lync.com' -HostedMigrationOverrideUrl 'https://admin1e.online.lync.com/HostedMigration/hostedmigrationservice.svc'
    After that I get a warning message due to to migration to a previous version which I accept.
    WARNING: Moving a user from the current version to an earlier version (or to a service version) can cause data loss.
    Confirm
    Move-CsUser
    [Y] Yes  [A] Yes to All  [N] No  [L] No to All  [?] Help (default is "Y"): y
    Then I am getting the following error message:
    Can not load Live Id module. Make sure correct version of Live Id Sign-in assistant is installed.

    Tried to Google it but found nothing.
    As far as I can see it is complaining about the Live ID Sign-in assistant, which is installed (the 64bit version) on my computer but not on the remote server. Does it need to be installed on the server as well?
    Thanks for the answers in advance.

    This error related to reporting services, you need to verify that reporting services is installed on these instances.
    Secondly, you didn't need to create this instance manually then setup monitoring role. delete this instance from shared storage and try again to setup rule using different instance name and it will create automatic on shared storage.

  • Office 365 E3 and Office E4 differences

    Hi,
    What are the differences between Office 365 E3 and Office 365 E4? Any link for this?
    What about the Business Intelligence services any differences between E3 and E4?
    Thanks in advance

    Here is the plan description of Office 365 Enterprise E3 and Office 365 Enterprise E4:
    Office 365 Enterprise E3:

    Office 365 Enterprise E4:

    Leonidas is right that compare with Office 365 Enterprise E3, E4 plan includes Enterprise voice. For Busines Intelligence services, as far as I know, there is no differences between Office 365 Enterprise E3 and E4.

  • We have office 365 subscription and we need to merge our Microsoft Dynamics CRM online subscription to office

    Hi,
                 We have office 365 subscription and we need to merge our Microsoft Dynamics CRM online subscription to office 365
     For organization:  Softtrends Software Pvt Ltd (https://softtrendssoftwarepvtltd.crm5.dynamics.com)
    Office 365 organization :  Softtrends Software Private Limited

    Hi there,
    If you already have two different Microsoft Online services accounts, then this is no easy task. If you sign up for two Microsoft Online services, using two different Microsoft Online services ID's, you basically need to choose which one to throw away, and
    then do a migration from one to another.
    If you have a lot of data in both of them, you could cross your fingers, and make a Service Request to Microsoft, hoping that they could do some magic for you, or at least tell you which migration track that's the easiest one.
    The important part is that you first sign in to the service you want to keep, and then register for a new one using Sign in, in stead of Sign up. This way they are automatically liked to the same Windows Azure Active Directory tenant.
    I hope I understood your question, and was able to help you here.

  • Office 365 logo and link in suite bar

    Does anyone know how I can hide, remove, or change the Office 365 logo and link in the suite bar?
    Stefanie Long

    If you want to hide those two bars please do the following
    1 – Open you site with SharePoint designer
    2 – If you are using a sandbox solution go to _catalogs/masterpage/themename
           If you are using a farm solution got to _catalogs/masterpage/
    3 – Check out and edit in advanced mode the master page you are using
    4 – Search for the comment <!--SuiteBar start-->
    5 – Right before it paste the line bellow
    <Sharepoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl runat="server" Permissions="ManageWeb">
    6 – Search for <!--SuiteBar end-->
    7 – Just below it paste the code
    </SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl>
    The SPSecurityTrimmedControl applied remove the suite bar but could not be used to remove the ribbon bar because SharePoint uses this one to calculate the scroll on the page.
    The ribbon bar has to be hidden using a small script.
    8 -  Search for <!--Ribbon end-->
    9 – Right below it paste the script
    <script type="text/javascript">
      var suitebar = $("#suiteBar");
      if(suitebar.length<1)
         $("#s4-ribbonrow").css('display','none');
    </script>

  • Office 365 Lync Online / Skype For Business Journaling

    Hello,
    From what I have found in my research, there is no way to journal Lync Online / Skype For Business IMs with Office 365.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.  Is anyone doing this by way of workaround or 3rd part product?
    Thanks in advance.
    This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

    Thanks for the clear dialogue and responses.
    I want upgrade from Skype to Skype for Business, BUT want to retain my Skype ID (which is printed on my business cards) and existing contact connections.
    My situation is similar to Jim Carpenter's, in that I've used Skype for years.  I have it linked to my old Microsoft account that I'd set up for the old SkyDrive (now OneDrive) product. When I bought Office 365 Business Premium (includes Skype for Business), it necessitated creating a second Microsoft ID using the suffix [e-mail removed for privacy and security] to set up my new business account. That is a different login than my existing Skype login tied to the original MS account, and the new one not only accesses the MS programs, it accesses Exchange, through which I run Outlook calendar and contacts.
    So, are these the steps I should take?
    Unlink my existing Skype account
    then uninstall Skype
    then install Skype for Business
    I would guess that there would need to be a re-linking step of some sort, too, but I'm unclear on this.  Guidance?
    Please confirm that is the best path.  Will this process allow me to migrate the Skype ID and contacts to the business app?
    Thanks much.

    Hi Alan,
    I am sorry for the issue you are experiencing right now.

    I noticed something a bit strange that SMTP is automatically put in front of the mailbox name.. i haven't seen that before
    Went to windows update and there is nothing to install
    it's interesting you say the 5th because that is exactly the last day that outlook successfully synced.. it hasn't worked since.. This is happening on 2 seperate computers and stopped working at the exact same time.
    Hi Alan,
    Thanks for the update.
    Based on the currently situation, I understand when configuring the test account provided by Yang Yu the issue persists. And you have a number of tablets and they are working fine. Thus the issue could be related to the certain Outlook client on this certain
    computer.
    Since we focus on Office 365 issues in this forum, I'm so sorry that I’m not able to provide the detailed instructions.
    To provide you with a better service, and sort out this issue more effectively, I suggest you post this issue in the following Outlook forum. The engineers there will help you get the issue fixed in a timelier manner.

    At the same time, I will also continue doing some further tests and research. Thanks for your understanding and great efforts.

    Hi Alan,
    According to your description, the Outlook settings seems to be correct in your local machine. And some solutions have been tried to solve this issue:
    Create a new Outlook profile, start Outlook in safe mode, clean credentials cache in computer ect.
    But the issue persists. Please consider to configure your account on a computer which is working file with your colleague's Office 365 account to check whether the issue continues. If the issue only happens to your account, please access the mailbox in Webmail
    and change the password to have a try.

  • Office 365 - Lync

    I have Office 365 Home edition. I am trying to use Lync but in my Outlook I have no icon to set up an Online Meeting. I have followed instructions
    to look in add-ons for this functionality but I can see nothing that will help. Do I need to upgrade to Office 365 Business or is there another solution?

  • Just moved from in house ocs 2007 R2 to office 365 lync 2013, I'm clear to "unprep" right?

    We've just migrated from in house ocs 2007 r2 to office 365 w lync 2013.  We are using dirsync to sync our AD with o365.
    We'd like to decommission our OCS 2007 server since its no longer being used. Will running unprep impact our hosted lync 2013 setup given that we are using dirsync?  I don't think it should, but just want to confirm.
    Any advice appreciated.

    Hi MC625,
    In my opinion, unprep is not necessary and I suggest you should not perform this action.
    I haven't seen an unprep referenced in the migration from OCS to Lync 2013 articles.

  • Office 365 (Word) and Onedrive comparability issue

    I have successfully used MS Mesh / Skydrive /
     OneDrive for years to sync my documents/PDFs folder between my desktop, laptop, phone, and iPad.  A month or so ago I purchased Office 365 and it caused all sorts of havoc in my Onedrive folder.  The thrust of the issue seems to
    involve Office 365 and Skydrive getting in the way of each other while trying to keep the documents up to date.  As skydrive tries to upload changes to a folder with Docs in it, a few of the documents will not update (leaving the red mark on the document
    icon instead of the blue check-mark showing it is up-to-date).  Office 365 share point will also give a list of documents that it was unable to sync (the list matches the trouble files in Skydrive).  Once this error hits a file, all of the content
    for the document is zero'ed out (and the file size decreases to 0 KB).  Thankfully, thus far this has only caused me to lose data from old, unimportant files.  This morning I lost data from an important file, but I had a backup of it saved in my
    email.
    I've tried a bit of my own trouble shooting.  At first I thought that the issue revolve around documents created in earlier editions of Word, so I created a folder in my Onedrive that was populated only with Office 365 Word documents, but this
    did not resolve the issue.
    It seems as if this problem affects documents randomly.
    My hunch is that it occurs when Office 365's sharepoint tries to update a file at the same time Onedrive is updating the file.
    I also use the iPad app PDF expert to access my skydrive folder on the iPad (because I store PDF's in the folders as well), but I don't believe it to be the issue because: (1) it worked perfectly fine before I installed 365, and (2) the problem
    with Onedrive and Office 365 persisted after I disabled PDF Expert's sync with the Onedrive.
    Note: Office 365 worked fine until I used it to upgrade the version of Office installed on my computer.
    I do not want to be forced to keep my Word documents separate from my Onedrive folder as I store numerous non-Word documents in my Onedrive folder as well and need to save them in folders with Word docs.
    Thank you.

    The solution is very simple.
    You have to install Microsoft OneDrive from the Mac AppStore. It synchronizes your OneDrive folders to the Mac. Afterwards, you usually find a OneDrive folder in your Home folder. From there, you can access all files as usual. If you change any file, it will be synchronized in both ways (Mac to OneDrive, OneDrive to Mac).
    I use this on a daily basis and have no problems with it.
    Have a nice day!

  • Office 365 Portal and Azure

    I have a very generic question.  If I setup an office portal 365, where does the data for all the office portal 365 features including sharepoint reside? Is it installed in SQL server database on cloud by default? Also, where does Azure come into
    play?

    SharePoint is a hosted, shared environment. It is not hosted in Azure (with the exception of Fort Knox data, but that data isn't accessible via your Azure subscription). If all you had was SharePoint, the only area where Azure comes into direct play is
    that your accounts in Office 365 will be on an Azure AD instance that you can access via the Azure subscription.
