Office 365 planning

hi guys, we're currently using office 2010.
If we will upgrade to office 365. What would be the advantages?
How would the files be stored?
Do we need to purchase or setup a server for cloud storage?
Sorry for a lot of questions, just need to clear off these things. :)
Thanks.
Every second counts..make use of it. Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.

For Office client site, there is nothing difference. Most Office 365 plans also include the full-featured Office 2013 applications, which users can install across multiple computers and devices. Active subscribers receive future rights to version upgrades
as a benefit of their subscription. Entitlements vary by product.
We use the name ”Office 365” for products that include features enabled over the internet, such as additional online storage with SkyDrive. Office 365 business plans include features such as Lync web conferencing and hosted email for businesses. All Office
365 products, such as Office 365 Home Premium and Office 365 Small Business Premium, are paid for on a subscription basis. Subscription terms vary by product.
For me, I would try to answer your quesion one by one:
Do we need to purchase or setup a server for cloud storage?
http://www.dhruvsoft.com/office-365-advantages/
How would the files be stored?
We could choose to save it in Cloud(Skydrive, etc) or local drive.
Do we need to purchase or setup a server for cloud storage?
Not necessary.
Hope this helps.

    hi,
do we have to subcribe to an office 365 plan before we can use project online standalone?
how can we use it after purchasing? where do we sign in?
    tnx

    MGerio,
Just to add on to Paul's answer, Project Online is one of the applications that runs on Office 365, so you will need Office 365 to use Project Online.
Having said that, AFAIK, the Office 365 Subscription is included in the Project Online license fee. when you go straight to the link Paul provided, and purchase licenses, you will also get Office 365 as a base.

  • Issue with Office 365 integration module

I have an issue with the Office 365 integration module on one of my customer's Windows Server 2012 Essentials servers.
Recently they switched to a new Office 365 plan, but the integration module still thinks the customer is on the old plan. This doesn't seem to affect functionality at all, so I think it's just cosmetic. On the Office 365 tab of the Windows Server Essentials
dashboard, under Subscription it lists the old plan and says the subscription has expired. Under Licenses it says "your subscription includes 0 licenses" and "0 licenses are assigned to user accounts."
Steps I've tried to resolve this issue:
Created a new Office 365 test user account (after switching plans) and then on the Windows Server 2012 Essentials dashboard clicked 'Change the Office 365 administrator account.' This made no difference.
Uninstalled and then reinstalled the Office 365 integration module. Again, this made no difference.
I suspected there might be an issue in the Office 365 back-end, where the customer's Office 365 account was somehow still associated with the old plan, but they said that wasn't the case.
I opened a service request with Office 365 support about the issue with the server dashboard, but this was their response: "As we are online service support team, we provide limited support on local application extension...you may need to contact the
Windows Server support team for further help."
As it seems to be just a cosmetic issue, I'm not going to open a paid service request with the Windows Server support team, but I'm interested to know if anyone on the forum has struck this issue before or has any suggestions.

Not seen this issue myself, you may be right in that it Is just a cosmetic issue, and I would be surprised if a fix was forthcoming even if you opened a case (or we opened a case for you) due to resources having shifted to the Windows 10.
You could grab the OIM logs from programdata\windowsserver\logs and we can see if there is anything obvious in there.

  • Office 365 E3 and Office E4 differences

    Hi,
What are the differences between Office 365 E3 and Office 365 E4? Any link for this?
What about the Business Intelligence services any differences between E3 and E4?
    Thanks in advance

Here is the plan description of Office 365 Enterprise E3 and Office 365 Enterprise E4:
    Office 365 Enterprise E3:
    http://products.office.com/en-us/business/office-365-enterprise-e3-business-software
    Office 365 Enterprise E4:
    http://products.office.com/en-us/business/office-365-enterprise-e4-business-software
Leonidas is right that compare with Office 365 Enterprise E3, E4 plan includes Enterprise voice. For Busines Intelligence services, as far as I know, there is no differences between Office 365 Enterprise E3 and E4.

  • New calender sync after adding Office 365 account

    Hi,
I always had one Outlook calendar that I have syncced with my iPhone 3GS.
Now I have added a MS Office 365 account with another calender.
After adding this new account iTunes won't syncc any of two anymore.
No errors occur during sync. In iTunes I can only see one calender. On the iPhone I see both.
Are there any known problems with Office 365 / Exchange?
    Thanks for a hint.

I've never done it this way before but it might work.
You can try logging in to the Office 365 portal using your Azure AD admin account. When you get there, click on the purchase services link and add an Office 365 plan. That should integrate O365 with your current directory.

  • Cannot use Office 365 Subscription

    Hey all,
So I have a Office 365 subscription with 60 mins free per month. This subscription shows on my account.
I have signed into my Android phone with the same account yet cannot make any calls, says to buy credit or a subscription.
I thought maybe this was due to mobiles sometimes being classed as non-geographic. So went online to buy a subscription but it said I had one and it would overlap. Checked the details of the Microsoft Office 365 plan and should include mobile and landline numbers to the UK(where I am dialling to/live).
    Please help thanks

Hi and welcome to the Skype Community,
UK mobile are not included, where did you read that? The list of included destination countries is to be found here: http://www.skype.com/en/offers/office365/

  • Landline only subscription (from Office 365) - why...

    Hi,
I'm trying to call an Indonesian land line. My office 365 account includes 60 free minutes to landlines (to countries including Indonesia). However, while my Skype account is linked to my Microsoft Office account (I just linked it today), I am unable to place my call.
When calling from my Mac Skype, it says "Call - you need to get Skype Credit to call this number".
Is this a bug? Can I submit the number I am trying to call somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Rishi

A week ago my skype account I had for years was taken over by some hacker, who made calls to Africa.. After filling out several forms over and over again.. Skype decided they could not help me and I should better make a new account (great service). As having no other options.. I did... Now I don' know anymore which Skype name I should send to clients, friends and family... but also my Office 365 plan isn't linked anymore.. I called Office 365.. and they can't do anything as for them it is linked.. at Skype support there is no logic answer or no answer at all (or they send over the same file for the 20th time and that solves nothing) So great job Skype!! I lost all my contacts.. you just gave my account to someone else, I lost all my personal and professional Skype contacts and my free Office 365 minutes (60 in total) I can forget about... the only thing it says is.. please buy credit or opt for a plan.. Also I don't see how 1 password for al services makes this a secure place.. Very disappointed and worrying about my online security!!!!!!

  • Office 365 Business Premium vs Office 365 ProPlus

Hi,I have a user starting next week and I am thinking about what office 365 plan I should get for him. The main purpose of using this plan is to get him only Office applications as we have On-premise Exchange server so email service is requried. In Australia, Office 365 ProPlus is more expensive then Business Premium which I think it is nonsense because Business Premium also offers thelatest version of office application and I think ProPlus should be cheaper or at least equally same. The only differences between these two plans are Office 365 ProPlus plan comes with Access 2013 which Premium plan does not offer and Exchange online.Office 365 Business Premium: $17.50 user/monthhttps://products.office.com/en-au/business/compare-office-365-for-business-plansOffice 365 ProPlus: $19.40 user/month...

  • VISIO OFFICE 365 AND A MAC

    Hey to Everyone,
    Here is the scenario...
I have one Mac in my organization that is using Office 365 Plan E3. I would like to add Visio to Office 365 but I am not sure how well the Mac and Visio in Office 365 will work together. In other words can I use Visio via Office 365 with a Mac?
    Regards,
    James

    Hi James,
Visio Pro for Office 365 is a standalone subscription. You need to purchaes it seperately then add it to Office 365 plan.  It
allows each user to install Visio on up to five PCs running Windows 7 or Windows 8.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/visio/microsoft-visio-pro-for-office-365-create-versatile-diagrams-FX103791920.aspx
But Visio is not support for Mac, it doesn't work on Macs.

  • Server 2012 R2 Essentials Edition - Office 365 Intergation

What Office 365 plans can be integrated into Server 2012 R2 Essentials edition?
Is the integration limited to small business plans or can you integrate midsize and enterprise plans?

    Hi Kevin Robinson,
On Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials, when start
Integrate with Microsoft Office 365 wizard and don’t have a subscription to Office 365, you can click Next, and follow the instructions to subscribe to Office 365. There is a screenshot that you can refer to.

  • Calendar bug with Office 365 for Education (exchange accounts)

I have an Office 365 Exchange account provided by my University. When I add the account to my Mac, Mail.app and Contacts.app work perfectly. However I receive an error message in Calendar which states that “Calendar needs a valid email address to connect” to my account. The address is clearly valid since it is working in Mail and Contacts. Furthermore, this account works perfectly in iOS Mail, Contacts, and Calendar. The issue is only with Calendar in OS X. Upon researching online, it appears that this issue will occur on Macs if the account is hidden on the Exchange Global Address List (which is true for my account). Below are a few additional points that are related to this bug:
    1. iOS connects to Exchange through ActiveSync which is why I don't see the issue on iOS devices.
    2. OS X connects to Exchange through Exchange Web Services (EWS). OS X supports EWS for Calendar syncing only when a users name is listed on the Global Address List. If the account is hidden (and they usually are for Office 365 educational accounts at Universities complying with FERPA laws) then Calendar.app cannot connect and sync the users calendar. I am not sure if this is by-design or a bug.
    3. The third-party Mac app 'BusyCal 2' also uses EWS to connect to Exchange and it will work regardless of the visibility of the user's account on the GAL.
This has led me to two conclusions: Either  (1) Apple has a bug in Calendar.app, or (2) the bug is in EWS and Busycal 2 is forcing some sort of work-around. It's likely that Apple and Microsoft will need to work together to fix the issue. I've attempted submitting a bug report to Apple but I have no way to contact Microsoft since I am not an admin for the Office 365 plan that my school uses. I would need to go through my admins but they don't seem to care much about this issue. So pretty much I'm left helpless at this point :/
Does my analysis seem valid or does anyone else have any points to contribute? I would appreciate the assistance

    Hi,
There are two ways to share read access to your calendar on premise to Office 365. The method you choose depends on your requirements and the level of access that you want to give to the calendars. But providing write access to the calendar is not possible
    in a Cross-Premise scenario.

  • Office 365 Calendar Not Syncing with my Z10

I have Office 365 Plan P1 and have set up my email Exchange 365 account on my Z10. Emails, Contacts & Memos sync correctly on all my devices - desktop, iPad (sorry!) and on my Z10, but Calendar does not sync at all. Can anyone help please? Am I using the correct Office 365 Plan (P1)?

    Hi DT655,
Thanks for your reply.  Since my original post I have upgraded and subscribed to Office 365 Midsize Business.  All has gone well, everything has been migrated over and all has been synced correctly.
Except my BlackBerry Z10 where Calendar syncs everything going forward, but only three months back.  My BB PlayBook is the same (only three months back).  However, my desktop and iPads sync all events going back many years.
I have followed your instructions by deleting my old e-mail accounts on both my Z10 and my PlayBook and reinstalled them using the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, but it is still the same - only three months back on both BB devices.
As my other devices sync all events going back many years, and as there used to be an option within the old BB Desktop Manager to sync All Events, I am sure the restriction I now have must be a BB issue and not an Office 365 issue.  Do you agree, and do you know where I can get to some settings that allow me to change the three month default?
    Thanks.

  • What is Office 365 in sharepoint 2013

    HI
what is Office 365 in sharepoint 2013
    adil

    Hi adil,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to know what is Office 365.
“SharePoint” can refer to one or more Microsoft SharePoint products or technologies including SharePoint Online. SharePoint 2013 is on its way and currently its preview is available both for on-premises and SharePoint Online as a service.
SharePoint Online is a cloud-based service, hosted by Microsoft, for businesses of all sizes. Instead of installing and deploying SharePoint Server on premises, any business can now simply subscribe to an Office 365 plan, or the standalone SharePoint Online
service, and their employees can create sites to share documents and information with colleagues, partners, and customers.

I have my custom office 365 sharepoint application. I want to deploy this application in office 365 accounts. Can you please suggest the minimum required office 365 plan that has an option to deploy custom office 365 apps.
Also If a firm has multiple subscription plans, so is this possible to create two different sites for these different subscriptions. With this the user belongs to subscription 'a' will no be able to see site of other subscription 'b'.
