Office 365 sync

I just purchased a surface pro. I installed 365 home on it as well as on my laptop. The website for 365 says "Stay in sync with
Outlook email, shared calendars, and task-list tools."  Been at this all day and haven't got it to work yet.  Been to all the suggested sites.  It just doesn't work

Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused by the issue.
From your description, could you provide the following information?
1. When you mentioned “installed 365 home”, do you mean that you are Office 365 Home Premium?
2. When you said “The website for 365 says ‘Stay in sync with Outlook email, shared calendars, and task-list tools’”, did you add the Office 365 account in Outlook client? If yes, could you capture a screenshot for further investigating?
If you only use Office 365 Home Premium, we have a specific channel for the Office 365 Home Premium users. Therefore, I recommend you contact
Office365 Forum
as Carey Frisch mentioned to get more professional support about the issue. They specialize in that information.
Thanks for your understanding.

  • Office 365 sync problems after most recent security update

Since the security update, mail and calendar are not syncing with an email address at outlook.office365.com. After the update, Mail and Calendar wouldn't open with several tries. Sent reports to Apple. Finally, Mac took longest time to boot with the spinning disc. Then Mail and Calendar would open but they don't sync with my work emails. It doesn't say it didn't sync but it is clear it did not given that I can see the emails on my iPad and through webmail and on my phone. Any ideas? How can I make sure Mail and Calendar didn't get corrupted? How can I fix? How can I make them work so I can work?

I thought that this happened to myself as well, but I just let the computer run at the gray screen, and the apple and loading indicator came up a minute later. It stayed this way for a while, then it restarted itself and all is well.

  • Project Pro 2013 and syncing with SharePoint Online 2013 (Office 365)

    Good day,
I am experiencing some challenges with a Project Pro master project file and syncing to SharePoint 2013 (Office 365).
    What works
Individual projects can be synced to SharePoint without issue. Once synced, the site start page presents the Project Summary gant, clicking the Tasks link takes me to the tasks. Project files are stored in the Site Assets directory in each SharePoint site
    (one site per project file).
    What doesn't work
When I create a new project (and sync it to a new site), then add two (2) existing project files that reside on SharePoint and then sync to the new master project site I
don't see any content in the Project Summary gant, nor do I see any tasks in the task list. I can't figure out if this is not supported or if I've done something wrong. There are no error messages or indicators that I've done something wrong,
short of the master project projects not showing up on the master project site (nothing in the project summary gant and no tasks).
Some help would be greatly appreciated. Being able to render a master project is crucial to understanding timelines for many projects in a single view.

    Steven,
This is by design. Inserted Sub projects will NOT show in the Master Project Tasks list. You will only see tasks inserted directly at the Master Project Level.
Moreover, if you set up a dependency between Master project Task and Subproject task, then the sync will not work. All in all, there are limitations for this process, which is where Project Online/Project Server needs to be considered.

  • Tech Tip of the Week: Syncing Distribution Groups in Office 365

Having trouble getting your distribution groups to sync when migrating to Office 365?
We recently worked with a customer who had over 300 distribution groups that were not syncing to Office 365. Upon review, we noticed that the distribution groups did not have a Display Name.
Here are the steps we took in order to resolve the problem:
    1. Open ADUC “Active Directory Users and Computers “On the top menu click on view and select Advanced Features.
    2. Find the Distribution List that is not syncing to your Office 365 tenant > right click the Distribution List > select Properties > click on the attribute editor tab.
    3. There are a couple attributes that must be filled out in order  for it to Synchronize to Office 365.
    Attributes: mail,
displayName – if they do not have any data, fill it in. Once completed click ok.
    4. Open the MIISClient. This is located on your DIRSYNC Server. The default path is: “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Online Directory Sync\SYNCBUS\Synchronization Service\UIShell\miisclient.exe”
    5. Click on Metaverse Search > input the following:
    Attribute: Mail
    Operator: Contains
    Value:
    “Email Address of the DG”
    6. Once filled in click on search > double click the search results > click on the connectors tab. Note: If
you only see SourceAD Management Agent, perform the following:
    7. Click on Management Agents > Right click SourceAD > click on Run > click on Full Import Stage Only > click on ok.
    8. Right click SourceAD > click on run > click on Full Sync > click on ok.
    9. Right click TargetWebService > click on Run > click on Full Confirming Import Stage > click on ok.
    10. Right click TargetWebService > click on Run > click on Full Confirming Sync > click on ok.
    11. Right click TargetWebService > click on Run > click on Export > click on ok.

  • Windows 8.1 Mail app does not sync with the Office 365 account

My company has recently switched to Office 365. Windows 8.1 Metro Mail app does not work with Office365 account. When I switch to IMAP it works but that is soon going to be disabled and is not compliant with the company policy.
I can add the account and it also pushes the security policies but it does not sync email at all. Says account is not available. The tablet shows up on the mobile devices on the office 365 and I could also remote wipe it.
It seems everything works except basing email sync. What could be the issue?

  • How do I import my Outlook 2013 PST file into Office 365 and then have them permanently synced?

I have Office 365. I have Outlook 2013 downloaded on my computer with all my emails and contacts, etc.
I want to import the entire PST file with my emails, contacts etc. into Office 365 / Exchange Online (cloud?). Once that is done, I want to set it up so that my Desktop Outlook will always update and sync with my Office 365 when I am out of the office and
    use the Outlook mail App.
    PLEASE HELP!

    Hi,
You can also use Outlook or Outlook Web App to import your existing PST file into your Office 365 account.
First configure your Office 365 account into Outlook, then use Import/Export
feature in Outlook client to import your PST file:

  • Office 365 directory sync disable stuck on pending

I have a situation where I have setup directory sync with the on premise AD and Office 365. I have now tried to disable directory sync and is has been a week and it still says:
Active Directory synchronization is being deactivated. This process may take up to 72 hours to complete.
in the admin site. I also get this from the PowerShell:
    PS C:\Windows\system32> (Get-MSOLCompanyInformation).DirectorySynchronizationStatus
    PendingDisabled
I really need some help getting this disabled properly so I can start fresh with directory sync.

    Hi,
If the output is "PendingEnabled" or "PendingDisabled" after the expected enablement time period has passed, this is a known issue with Exchange Online.
Please refer to this KB article for more details:

  • Office 2010 / Office 365 Calender sync

    Hi everyone !
I have a bit of a interesting problem I have been google-ing left  right and center but everwhere I look I cant find a solution
PROBLEM : The "OUTLOOK 2010/2013" calender does not sync(Sync they dont show the same information) with the " OFFICE 365 CALENDER "
Extra information : We have over a hundred users everyone computer is doing this , We are running on Imap , E-mail's work perfectly ,
But if you create a event(meeting) in the Office 365 calender(OWA via browser) only the office 365 calender(OWA via browser) can see it , not the Outlook 2010/2013
And if you create a event(meeting) in the Outlook 2010/2013 only outlook 2010/2013 can see the event not the office 365(Owa via the browser)
But here come's the Curve ball
If I create a event(meeting) In office 365 (OWA) And Invite attendees , Both or more user's can see it in Outlook2010/2013 and office 365(OWA)
But if you you do it Via outlook ,the user that created it wont be able to see it in the office365(OWA) but the rest would be since they received a mail about it
So Since we don't want to run a POP setup.
Question : How can I get the office 365 calender(OWA) to sync with Outlook 2010/2013 if you created the event(meeting) in Outlook and vice versa?
Any help would be greatly appreciated !

    Hi,
You are running on IMAP, this is why the calendars don't sync. If the accounts are setup as POP or IMAP, calendars and contacts don't sync. For accounts setup as Exchange, Exchange ActiveSync, calendars and contacts sync between the server and
    client.
Anyway, may I know why on IMAP?
"But if you create a event(meeting) in the Office 365 calender(OWA via browser) only the office 365 calender(OWA via browser) can see it , not the Outlook 2010/2013
And if you create a event(meeting) in the Outlook 2010/2013 only outlook 2010/2013 can see the event not the office 365(Owa via the browser)"
    - This is just as I explained at the beginning, calendar items don't sync due to the IMAP setup.
"But if you you do it Via outlook ,the user that created it wont be able to see it in the office365(OWA) but the rest would be since they received a mail about it"
    - The organizer doesn't see it on OWA because it shouldn't as I said. The intendees see it on OWA since the request has been sent to the server, no matter it's sent from the Outlook client or OWA, would be processed by the server thus be displayed on users'
    calendars.
To change the IMAP setup is the only way as I can suggest on my side.

  • Blackberry Office 365 email calender & contacts sync

    Hey Guys
I'm looking to hook my Blackberry Bold up with Office 365.
From what I've learnt so far out of the box I can sync email using POP3 or IMAP4.
However, I would like to sync my calendar and contacts too. I understand I need BlackBerry® Enterprise Cloud Services to do this.
I can see that I can turn that service on in my Office 365 account.
However, do I need to purcahse BlackBerry® Enterprise Cloud Services from Blackberry as well?
What else will I need to get it going do you guys think?
Any help/advice  would be greatly appreciated.

  • Script to assign licenses to bulk AD synced user's office 365

i have dirsync so all my local ad users are synced with office 365 tenant
Now I am migrating mailboxes and I need to assign licenses to a bulk migrated users using csv
This process requires 2 steps ‘cmdlts’
    $usagelocation = “SA”
    Set-MsolUser –UserPrincipalName user@domain -UsageLocation $UsageLocation
After defining the location above time to assign the licenses
     Set-MsolUserLicense –UserPrincipalName user@domain  -AddLicenses company:ENTERPRISEPACK
So how can I script this and use a CSV file?
Also strange thing, I have ran the above to about 13 users manually, I placed the command on a notepad
Copied all lines and past on the PS, after that other users who already had licenses had their licenses removed! So what did I do wrong? I am asking this to make sure the script you will provide will not remove the currently assigned licenses

this script will work for you given the below conditions
1- you have csv file with only one
Column named "UserPrincipalName" and has all users need to be licensed
2- all users in the above file in the format of [email protected]
3- All users are having the same license
    $path= Import-Csv -Path "usersFiles.csv"
    foreach ($item in $path){
    $MSOLUserName= $item.UserPrincipalName
    $password = ConvertTo-SecureString "password here" -AsPlainText –Force
    $credential = New-Object System.Management.Automation.PsCredential("your username here",$password)
    $cred = Get-Credential -cred $credential
    Import-Module MSOnline
    Connect-Msolservice -cred $cred
    $AccountSkuId = "tenantdomain:ENTERPRISEPACK"
    $UsageLocation = "SA"
    $LicenseOptions = New-MsolLicenseOptions -AccountSkuId $AccountSkuId
    Set-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName $MSOLUserName -UsageLocation $UsageLocation
    Set-MsolUserLicense -UserPrincipalName $MSOLUserName -AddLicenses $AccountSkuId -LicenseOptions $LicenseOptions

  • Outlook 2013 with Office 365 and Google Apps Sync.

This is the scenario, hopefully somebody can give me some insight on how to resolve this.
Outlook 2013 with gapps. Both updated.
Outlook profile with an office 365 email account (which is as an exchange account) and google apps with our main account.
We installed an office 365 account since its the only way that several users can share and edit the same contacts on Outlook. They use almost all contact fields.
Gapps its the main email address and calendar. Shared calendars are deeply used too.
The problem is that when I edit a contact (the exchange account) I get an error -when- I edit the email field.
"The operation failed. The messaging interfaces returned an unknown error."
If I make a new Outlook profile with the exchange account and the gapps account via imap setup I get not errors BUT I loose calendars sync.
So I went back to the main profile and thought. <maybe both contacts engines are screwing Outlook.> So, since I don't care about gapps contacts anymore I disabled via:
    Disable sync for individual products
    https://support.google.com/a/answer/1041455?hl=en
And also disabled the dynamic Global Address (just in case).
    But the same happens.
I tried with another box, with office 2010, updated it and made a new profile with the office 365 and gapps and the same history.
Finally I though about setting the office 365 account as imap but contacts are not downloaded.
So I'm between a rock and a hard place here.
I need to use office 365 account in the same profile as gapps account.

    Hi,
What’s the file size of your Outlook data file? If your data file is over size, it may cause data file corruption.
Outlook data file corruption may cause this problem. Please try to run a repair of your Outlook data files to check the result:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227/en-us
Note: You may need to run Scanpst.exe for several times until there is no error.
In addition, here is a thread discussed a similar issue, please take a look at it and check if it helps:

  • New calender sync after adding Office 365 account

    Hi,
I always had one Outlook calendar that I have syncced with my iPhone 3GS.
Now I have added a MS Office 365 account with another calender.
After adding this new account iTunes won't syncc any of two anymore.
No errors occur during sync. In iTunes I can only see one calender. On the iPhone I see both.
Are there any known problems with Office 365 / Exchange?
    Thanks for a hint.

I've never done it this way before but it might work.
You can try logging in to the Office 365 portal using your Azure AD admin account. When you get there, click on the purchase services link and add an Office 365 plan. That should integrate O365 with your current directory.
