Office fire, damaged cs5 installation disk, adobe will not replace

So...we a small fire in the office that was quickly contained but the admin's workstation was damaged which contained the various installation discs for all of our software, including Adobe Design Standard CS5, which was purchased at a retail store (not downloaded).  I woudl like to reinstall our software on a new computer, however, Adobe tells me that I cannot because 1) I did not purchase it by download therefore I cannot download a new copy--that is NOT available to those who purchase their copy at a retail store,  2) They cannot send me a replacement disc because now that cs6 is out, they only provide replacement discs for the current shipping version--ie unless you are talking about CS6, they do not supply repalcement discs.  Basically I am out of luck?? This can't be true.
Is Adobe actually saying that no matter what the cause of having a damaged, stolen, or lost installation disc for a previous version of an adobe product, my only option is to purchase a new copy???  This is completely ridiculous! I purchased a license for their product, therefore i have license to use their product! 
If someone has any advice on getting around this it would be very helpful!

Albertw617 I am sorry you recently had a fire which damaged your installation media.  I hope everyone is ok?
In regards to replacement media we do no longer have CS5 available.  Some users have reported being able to follow the steps listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to obtain older version software. 
Alternately if you have your serial number you can also qualify for the upgrade to Creative Suite 6.

    Adding to what Pat has mentioned, I can also see that you have the serial number for both Mac & Windows. I hope you are using the correct key for the platform where in you are installing the product as that could be the only reason. Please check the keys once again and use the correct one and that should solve the concern.

  • Disk Images will not mount and Disk Utility will not runru

    I am having some major problems with Disk Utility, Disk Images, and software update. First, Disk utility will not open or run. When I double-click the application icon, nothing happens, no message, nothing. I am running OSX 10.4.11. I have deleted diskutility prefs. I am able to run Disk Utility from the Startup DVD of Tiger. On first run, it verified and repaired permissions. I run verify and repair permissions several more times from Startup DVD and everything is fine. But Disk Utility on my startup HD will not work. Similary, NONE of my disk images will mount. No matter what Disk Image i try to mount, nothing will. And I cannot use Disk utility to mount them! So, no matter what I download, no images will mount. And thirdly, when I try to run software update, it will not work. I do get a message: it says, "Could not load Software Update." Finally, i tried to download Onyx to delete log files, etc.. but again, the disk image will not mount. I was able to install a dashboard widget called "maintidget" and was successful in running the daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks. Can anyone help? Everything else works fine!!! All apps! Safari, Mail, iTunes, MS Office, everything works fine. Thanks for ANY help!

    Previously, I had run verify permissions, repair permissions multiple times(from startup DVD) - no probems found. Deleted disk utility prefs. Run the maintenance taskes (daily, weekly, monthly). Nothing worked. But, I forget to check the drive for problems. So I ran disk scan. It found "invalid node" and repair disk could not do it. So, do I erase and do a fresh install or get DiskWarrior? I am running Leopard so I do not have Time Machine but I have backed up my documents, iTunes Library, iPhoto Library, etc... Another thing I found out the hardway is to sync all your bookmarks, mail settings and messages, etc... with .mac if you have an account. Any more suggetions?

    If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand, such as your platform (Mac or Win), exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop ("CS5" won't do for instance; we would need CS5 vers 12.0.2 or whatever) and of Bridge, machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, video card specs, what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far, what error message(s) you receive, if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them, etc., someone may be able to help you.

    After downloading several times, disk image will not initialize. Dialog box -"The following disk images couldn't be opened Firefox 33.0.2 not recognized."

    Thanks for the reply - unfortunately I can not see the Firefox Disk image, the file that I downloaded shows up, but does not create the Disk Image required to begin the installation process.
    I have re-downloaded the file from Mozilla several times with the same result.

    Disk utility will not verify disk because, " The underlying task reported failure on exit."  The "repair disk" button does not light up.  The report says that repairs need to be made to the hard drive.  I have already checked permissions.  What do I do next to get the repair process started?  Also, I cannot find a defragmenting drive option in Disk Utility.  Doesn't it exist?

    You need to boot from the install DVD (or a clone of your internal) to run Repair Disk. Repair Disk will be grayed out, dimmed, because you can't repair from the same volume you are booted from.
    EDIT: No, you do not yet need to use Disk Warrior or Tech Tool or do any reformatting. These steps might become necessary only if Repair Disk fails.
    Unless you have very large video files, for example, there is no need to run any defragmenting utility. OS X does it all by itself on the fly.
    Try Disk Utility
    Start from your Mac OS X Install disc: Insert the installation disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
        Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    Click the First Aid tab.
    Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    Select your Mac OS X volume.
    Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
    If you don't have the install DVD, try a Safe Boot. Hold the Shift key down at startup and give it much more time to boot than usual. It's trying to repair the drive directory.

    I have been buying and using Adobe Photoshop through numerous versions over the past several decades. and I used to recommend it whenever I had an opportunity. Now I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.  I could say a lot more than that, using words my parents taught me to not use.
    Adobe now has their head in the clouds and doesn't care a whit about faithful customers.
    I had CS3 on one machine, CS4 on another, and CS6 on another one. The hard drive on the machine with CS3 and had to be replaced.  I am trying to install CS3 back on the same computer, but Adobe will not let me activate it, even though I am trying to put it on the computer it was originally on.  I paid for it, I have gone by the rules, and Adobe will not even talk to me.  And as far as I can determine, Adobe is so far out in the clouds that it has nothing but contempt for the people that kept them in business for decades!
    What I would really like to do is move CS4 onto the machine that originally had CS3 on it, and put CS3 onto the machine that now has CS4, but I assume nobody at Adobe cases what I would like, even though I paid for the software and have no intention of trying to have it installed on more than one machine at a time.

    When I get time, I will try to install and activate CS3 on my laptop computer.  I thought about trying to install CS6 on the old computer, but CS6 is on my wife’s computer, and we are often both using Photoshop at the same time.  I will probably install it on her notebook computer – if they will let me.
