Office Icons In Launchpad

I have just upgraded to Mountain Lion from Lion on two laptops.
Previously, in Lion, Microsoft Office had two folders in Launchpad - one called "Microsoft (Main)" and the other called, if I recall correctly, "Microsoft (Others)".
Now, in Mountain Lion, the latter of these two folders is no longer in Launchpad. Only "Microsoft (Main)" remains.
So far, I have not experienced any problems running my Office Apps: but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this disappearance, and whether it has any affect on functionality?

Don't worry about this. OS X works fine because the folder is on Applications, but it doesn't appear in Launchpad

  • Why can't I "trash"duplicate MS Office icons from my Launchpad?

I had MS Office 2011 installed when I bought my iMac at the beginning of December, and just recently noticed that I have duplicates of three of the Office icons (Office Reminders, SetUp Assistant, and Upload Center) on my Launchpad.  I only see them once in my Office folder in Applications, and the computer won't let me drag any of the icons into the trash from Launchpad.  (All of the other Office icons only appear once on my Launchpad.) Any ideas what's going on, or how I can remove one of each of these icons?

You can only trash apps downloaded from the app store in launchpad. You need to trash these using finder.
Go to your Applications folder in Finder and drag them to the trash can.
If they're not there, use Spotlight to locate them. They are most likely in whichever one of these your other Office files is not:
    [hard disk] > Applications
    OR
[hard disk] > Users > Home > Applications

  • How do you remove an unwanted Steam icon from Launchpad?

I found an answer to this question online after some extensive searching. The answer isn't on the Support Forums, so I thought I'd post a link to the page (to credit the author) and copy / paste the wording below.
You don't have to download any dirty third party apps to do this...thanks to Joe!
    FORCE REMOVING ICOMS FROM LAUNCHPAD
    http://joegardiner.co.uk/removing-icons-from-launchpad/
The standard method for removing app icons from the Lion Launchpad is to hold the left mouse button [or old the Option / Alt key] over the app icon, wait for the cross to appear in the corner of the app icon, and then click it!
In some cases however app icons can become orphaned, for example if you use on Steam on Mac, deleting local content to uninstall a game will not remove the game icon from Launchpad. This leaves you with an unusable orphaned icon that seems invincible and does not appear in the Application folder along with the rest of your apps.
    The solution is as follows…
    1. Open Launchpad, find the offending icon(s) and drag them to your normal dock.
    2. Right click on the icon that you dragged to your dock and choose ‘Show in Finder’.
    3. Now drag the icon(s) from the Finder windows that opens up into the Trash.
    4. Finally right click on the dock item(s) that you dragged originally and choose ‘Remove from dock’.
Voila, the icons have disappeared from Launchpad and the annoying orphaned icons that seemed invincible have been thwarted.

Maybe this is an issue I should consult my ISP about??
No question about that. If you can "see" Travis's device, then he can likely "see" your Time Capsule.
I'm just concerned that whomever the APExpress belongs to could be changing settings on my computer or Time Capsule that would cause the issues with me not being able to backup.
Make sure that you have a Time Capsule base station password. Unless a user has that password, they might be able to "see" your Time Capsule, but they cannot access any of the data on the Time Capsule or change the settings.
Open AirPort Utility, click on the Time Capsule and click Manual Setup
Then, click the Time Capsule tab below the icons to see the device name and password for your device. Make sure that you have entered the password and confirmed. Click Update if you have made any changes.
The message I get is "The backup was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk.  The problem may be temporary.  Try again later to back up.  If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk."
I am not sure what this error means, because I cannot duplicate it here to test.
If it were me, I would try this "fix".

  • Apps to Install and Uninstall Icons from Launchpad

I have found an application by a third party that installs in the System Preference file that allows you to Add or Delete any Icon from Launchpad with just a click.
I have installed the program and it works very good - no problems.
I also run NORTON Internet Security 5 for MAC and the program went though the filters and checks with NO problems.
Below is the link that takes you to the developer and download sight by a developer named Chaosspace.de
    http://chaosspace.de/launchpad-control/
Good luck and I hope this help everyone, this problem is very frustrating!

Why?  In general this type of setup is handled by using standard Windows authentication.  Normal users cannot install/uninstall programs.  The problem solves itself.  You cannot technically prevent an admin from removing a program.
It simply isn't possible.  As an admin I can remove the folder containing your program and it is effectively uninstalled.  I can manually remove any registry entries you create and it is uninstalled.  I can basically manually uninstall anything
that you install as an admin.

  • Missing icons i Launchpad - apps don't work

    Hello,
Yesterday i discovered that i am missing alot of my icons in Launchpad:
When i open any of the apps that doesn't have an icon, it launches, but i can't do anything. It won't open any documents in PDF-viewer and iBooks instantly stops working. It happened after i upgraded to Mavericks, if it has any relevans. I've looked at several forums, and it seems that I am not the only one with this problem. However, most people fix this by deleting a certain file and using a command in Terminal, but the app isn't working becauase of this problem.. I can open the Terminal, but there's no option for typing in commands.
I hope someone can help me with this problem.
    Thank you in advance.

    HI appleuser1993,
I don't know if this will help you but I experienced something similar to your issue. I had also many icons missed in the LaunchePad, it was after a clen with Clean my Mac wich did its job perhaps in a excess of zeal.
I had to go to App in the Finder and copy all apps to the LaunchePad and then, my Apps icons are back again.

  • Blurry/Pixelated Icon on Launchpad - How to Fix?

I, recently, upgraded my Evernote application to the newest version (5.0.0) and, then, noticed that the application icon was pixelated in, both, the Dock and the Launchpad.  I did a "get info" on the application and the preview showed the same, low-res, icon.
I reinstalled the application.  No change.  I rebooted my computer.  Now, the dock icon looks fine.  The preview in "get info" is, also, crystal clear.  I looked at the application switcher (command-tab) with the application open.  Again, nice looking high-res icon.
The Launchpad, however, is still showing the ugly, pixelated icon.
The only other fix I tried was resetting the PRAM (command-option-P-R).  Still, the Launchpad icon looks ugly.
What else can I try?  The high-res icon is, obviously, there in the app, but it's refusing to display properly on the Launchpad.
My MacBook specs are below.  Thanks.

I managed to fix it.  I deleted the icon from Launchpad using command-option-control and clicking the "X" on the icon.  I dragged the application back into Launchpad.  The icon is, now, displaying at the correct resolution.

Has anyone else noticed this ....?
My last G5 iMac running X.4 had the same issue running Tiger - and my new Intel iMac is doing the same thing ... I suspect it's an MS Office 2004 issue ... but it's bewildering me - and would love to find out if there is a fix or an explantion available ...
Several (actually, quite a few) of my user>library>preferences have defaulted to Microsoft Office icons (some are Entourage and some Powerpoint etc) ... including Adobe, Roxio Toast 7, DivX Decoder 6, CDDB etc ...

  • Lo-res, jaggy icons in Launchpad

A couple of days ago, I noticed one of the icons in Launchpad had gone lo-res and jaggy.  I didn't think much of it until this issue started spreading to more and more of the icons - Apple and non-Apple applications.
Any ideas?  Clear a database somewhere and rebuild?

    Nobody any ideas on this?
Where does Lion get the icon info from?  Is it in a databse that can be rebuilt?

  • Since updating to iMovie '11, I have two iMovie icons in launchpad

I update from iMovie 10 to iMovie '11 today. Since the update, I now have two iMove icons oin Launchpad - one one the first page and one on the second page.
    This isn't a life-and-death matter, but doesn't seem right.
Any thoughts about how to sort it?

I also have this duplicated iMovie icon since upgrading. Anyone know how to get rid of it please? I have tried the old click and hold technique to bring up the cross, but i dont want to delete the app, just the duplicate icon (both icons are linked to iMovie 11).

the "apps" would not delete any way I tried and apple help was no help, just kept coming up no reply

  • Microsoft Office icons not installed after latest update

Just updated OS X Yosemite to 10.10.1. Microsoft Office 2011 icons have not been installed on the dock and do not appear in 'applications'

What do you mean by, they don't "appear in 'applications'?"
Are the Office applications not in the Microsoft Office 2011 folder in Applications?
Or, do the icons not show on those apps?
