Office jet 5745 set up with mac

Recently bought a hp office jet 5745 and own an imac with a osx 10.6. Will this work with the printer?

I afraid the printer is incompatible with your operating system.
You will either need to update your operating system to OS X 10.7 or newer version (10.10 is available as a free upgrade from Apple if your operating system meets its requirements).
Otherwise you will need a different model (more likely an oder model) which is compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6.

Is there a difference between a office jet 6500 and one with an "a" or "plus"

Hello, first post here.
I was given a office jet 6500 without the cd rom set up disc. The unit came with 4 new cartridges. Started trying to get it up and running and first it would not draw paper in. Checked this site and resolved that. (temporaily?) Then saw it was low/out of ink. Installed the new carts. Colors work fine, but no black.
I have no cd rom for this and no manual.
I see you can download the set-up but was perplexed by the mention of 6500a and 6500 plus, Not sure I have those. On the front it says "HP office jet 6500 wireless".
So I assumed that I need to run the jet cleaning function. I started scrolling in it;s menu but was baffled that it said there is no computer hooked up. Do I need that to clean the jets?
I could get by for now with a properly working stand alone copy/printer. But I would not mind at all following up with the wireless set-up to my sony pcv-rx752 pc. We're useing at+t here with a wireless router.

Hi,
First click the Setup button, select Network and follow the Wireless Setup Wizard to connect the printer to your home network.
Next download and install the following drivers for the HP Officejet 6500 Wireless (E709n) model:
The 6500A is a different model then the one you have..

No. Office is not an Apple product. You have to purchase it from Microsoft. Only OS X is included with Lion. New computers come with iLife pre-bundled.

New HP office jet 5745 won't copy or scan from glass

Brand new officejet 5745 won't copy or scan anything from the glass. I insert paper, choose copy and the document feeder from above runs, lightbar doesn't move and it produces a blank page. When trying to scan from computer, I get an error message to insert document into document feeder. Help.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that the Officejet 5745 will only attempt to scan or copy from the ADF. There could be some packing material or tape triggering the sensor in the ADF. Open the ADF and look for anything that got missed.
If it is clear, load a plain piece of paper into the ADf and tell it to copy. When the paper is fed through and done copying, ensure that there is not message on the screen that an original is loaded. If this is displayed, remove the power from the back of the printer to reset the memory.
Ensure the printer is connected to a wall outlet directly and then connect the power back to the printer. If the there is no message, try copying from the glass.

Unable to print hp office jet 8500A plus to i mac

Cannot get printer to print wirelessly from imac. Printer is HP officejet 8500A plus and o/s is Mavericks (10.9.3). Everything looks normal on imac but printer does not print when commanded.

HP Office Jet J6480 All In One - will not scan with Mac OS 10.8 .3

I have been unable to get my HP Office Jet J6480 All In One to scan after upgrading to 10.8.3.I have followed other posts and have installed the most up to date driver (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907) but each time i try to scan from the HP device manager or the photosmart studio, it says "Sorry, scanner could not be intialized. (scanner not found)" I have tried making sure there are no other updates by clicking on settings in the device manager and clicking check for updates but it tells me "server not availalbe - the software service is currently not available. please try again later" and i have gotten this error for the last week.
I followed the second set of instructions found here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/HP-Software-Update-Server-Unavailable/td-p/18... to try to resolve that issue and have installed the software found at the link. I rebooted my computer and am still having the same problem.
Note: My printer is wireless and i have not hooked it up via a cord. Will that make a difference?
My printer seems to be printing fine.

Try scanning from your Mac. Use Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Click once on the scanner on the left side, then click on Show Details along the bottom. Along the right side you will see LOTS of options for scanning and saving.
