Office OCT display level gives no dialogs

I have configured OCT in Office 2010 and deploy Office 2010 standard thru Computer startup script in GPO.
In the GPO at computer startup scripts a batchfile is running which starts the offscrub03.vbs and then the setup with the msp OCT file. When the user starts the machine and at the login screen for WIndows 7 the setup starts for Office. However the user can't
see a thing, not even when they login. After a few minutes office is installed but we must know when he is finished.
So in OCt i have tried the deisply level setting to basic setting and then supress modal and completion notice so Office gives a sign when he is ready, that is: it is supposed to i believe but he sais nothing.
How can i make sure that office displays a progress bar or notification when he is ready? The setting display level is not working....

It works when the gpo setting: run scripts asynchronisely disabled and run scripts visible is enabled. Now however i have another problem:
There are 2 installs in the batchfile that runs with computer startup script. First is install office 2010 and update SP2 then after a start /wait the Access runtime 2010 installed runs with a config.xml file. Accessruntime install starts after office 2010
is installed and after a few minutes the installs is ready i thought, but Access runtime is not installed anymore, not on new machines of not after uninstallng access runtime.
So i have set the display level at FULL to see what the error is. The message is:
The upgradepatch cannot be installed by Windows Installer because the edited program is missing or because the upgradepatch not suited is for this version of the program....
Remarkable is however when i start the Accessruntime installer manually on the systems, also with the config.xml file it runs OK it installes successfully only it will not run successfully install thru GPO with above settings, then the message appears...
Tested it on several machines.. What can be the course of this?

Edit after some testing it seems that the error comes not from accessruntime but from something else in the batchfile.
Fact stays that when the policy setting is set to run scripts asynchro and run script visible GPO then the 2 commands are running but accessruntime is not installed, the command starts but after he is done there is no accessruntime. When putting REM before
the office 2010 SP2 install and only let the accessruntime setup starting then he is installed after login so it must be due to the asynchro setting in GPO...

When i install Office 365 ProPlus manually (independently of SCCM) I see the prompts (same SCCM Package and configuration.xml file). This suggests it is suppressed when ran in the system context via SCCM.
How does Microsoft expect you to maintain the build versions (running setup.exe /configure XML) if users are unable to view the prompts? This is significant if the user is already in an Office program they'd get prompted with a message to close the app else
it automatically closes OR fails depending on if you include the ForceAppShutdown switch in the configuration.xml file.
The users in the environment are not all local admins which is why i cannot run the deployment in the user context.
I really need some help, anyone?

OCT config and Open/Save dialog behaviour

I have used the OCT in 2013 Office Proplus (setup /admin)to configure the installation and much of it works as expected. However, I am unable to get the Places Bar to display the custom locations I configured using the OCT.
I will be installing Office 2013 on Windows 7 clients in a domain.
As the OCT configuration is not being applied for the Places Bar, can someone help me with an alternative solution, please?
Secondly, is there a way to restore normal functionality to the Open and Save dialogs? We are upgrading from 2003 to 2013 and are used, along with all the other applications we use, to the Open and Save dialogs displaying the traditional browse dialog. Instead,
Office 2013 displays a page where you need to make several clicks to get to a dialog that allows you browse the network.
I have ticked the option to not display the Backstage when opening or closing files but the screens you see above are still displayed when either choosing open or save as or by using the corresponding shortcut keys.
Is there a way to force Office 2013 to go straight to the browser? Otherwise staff will end up wasting a lot of time navigating the pages when they don't need to. We use myriad folders and create new folders all the time. The ability to browse as soon as
invoking save as or open is essential.

Why do TOC do not properly display levels,... even after I set them to?

All,
I am having a major hard time trying to get my TOCs to properly display levels. I have been doing research on the subject, but it seems any recommendations have proved futile.
The issue:
My ID docs TOC's do not display levels at all
I have pretty much tried everything. I have gone to simple styles for Chapters and Sub Chapters to see what the issue would be

What the hell am i doing wrong?
Is this a bug in ID CS6?
Is there anything I should not be doing when formatting a style that will be used on the TOC?
Are there any "NO NOS" I should be aware of here?

Hi all,
Thanks to everyone for all your comments. To remove any possible conflicts, I did not apply any entry styles to the entries because i thought:
The TOC function generate levels independent of styles
Levels are automatically applied to any entry (TOC levels override everything else)
That levels override any styles one may apply to the entry
Basically, I do not need a style to create an indentation in my TOC. Levels create the indentation. (thus my example using the default ID Basic Paragraph Style)
Are the above assumptions wrong? If I am wrong, then are you guys saying I would need to create a TOC specific style denoting indentation for ever level?
IOWs, following my example:
Chapters = LV1 = Create a "TOC Paragraph Style X" that indents (say) 0pxs
Sub Heads = LV2 = Create another "TOC Paragraph Style Y" that indents (say) 20pxs
On the table of contents I would need to apply each their corresponding style in order to create TOC indents:
"Chapters" ---> TOC Paragraph Style X
"Sub Heads" ---> TOC Paragraph Style Y
If this is the fix, then I must say that this is a very cumbersome approach. (Hell, I would ask, why give me the levels option in the firts place in the TOC dialogue box!) If I have a book with a ton of levels, it will be pretty darn hard to manage so many styles.
PS: sorry I omitted one dialogue screen in my original post. Here is what I am doing.

Hi Experts,
After logging into Financal Management Desktop when a user tries to extract Metadata the Browse icon does not open the open files dialog box.I tried the following steps.
1)logged into the HFM in the citrix environment on production , opened the HFM Win 32 client connected to the application, tried to Extract the metadata clicked on the search icon, it doesn't display the windows search dialog box.
2) logged into the HFM in the citrix environment on Test , opened the HFM Win 32 client connected to the application, tried to Extract the metadata clicked on the search icon, it displays the windows search dialog box.
3) Gave the security permissions to the HFM folder as Everyone still the same issue.
4) Gave the security permissions to the HFM folder as Anonymous still the same issue.
NOTE: HFM 9.3.1.1.00 INSTALLED IN THE CITRIX ENVIRONMENT

How do I programmatically display the specify module dialog?

I am writing a C++ class that programmatically adds steps to a sequence file. The steps are ActiveX Automation types, making calls to properties and methods on a COM server.
I have been successful in creating a step, filling in the TS.SDATA.CALL parameters and adding it to the main sequence. When I open the sequence in the TS sequence editor and bring up the specify module dialog, all of the dialog fields fill out properly.
However, I've recently been wanting to bring up the specify module dialog programmatically. I have a smart pointer to the step object ( TS:tepPtr ) and tried calling spStep->SpecifyModule(0). This hangs the app, which leaves me scratching my head wondering what TS is objecting to. Rememb
er I can then go to the TS sequence editor and successful bring up the specify module dialog on the very same step.
I pretty sure the window handle I've passed to the engine is valid. I can successfully display the engine options dialog programmatically.
Any idea? Do I have to call some setup function before calling Step:pecifyModule( long specModOptions )?

Hello Aaron -
The short answer to your question is 'no you should not need any special configuration commands before calling Step:pecifyModule( ). Once you have a valid step object you should be able to call the method. However it is worth mentioning that the function help for SpecifyModule points out that there are different restrictions on each type of step as far as what options are available. For TestStand 2.0.1 for example, the ActiveX Automation Adapter steptype will make no use of the options set, so setting it to 0 is ideal. Other issues with using this method may be the result of working with an active sequence. Are you adding steps to a new file on your harddrive? Or are you working with a sequence already loaded into TestStand? Asking to 'specify module'
of a step already loaded for execution can result in some different behavior, most commonly a 'user-defined' error code of '0'. Checking to see that you are doing this, or if you have any file references (via Get SequenceFile ) that are not closed (with Release SequenceFile) before discarding the object handle they may also be a source of your hang-behavior.
To have a better idea of what is happening on your system I would need more information about your version of TestStand and also about how you are creating your sequence but any other information about the error would be helpful in troubleshooting further.

I had this same thing happen to me. I was using my brand new iphone 5 (texting and listening to music through the speakers) when it flashed the apple logo, stopped my music and brought me to the lock screen.

7.1.1 Display Level - behaviour changed and doesn't function as in manual

In the matrix editor, the move up display level (the little close box to the left of the local "edit" menu) used to behave as described in the reference guide, on page 22:
Display Levels in the Editors
In the Matrix and Hyper Editors, this step up the display hierarchy means that you will then see an Arrange window. In this scenario, a change to the lowest display hierarchy level will cause the relevant editor to reappear. At the Arrange level, you will see the local menus of the Matrix or Score Editors, which also contain all of the Arrange window functions. Double-clicking on a MIDI Region opens the Hyper, Matrix, Score Editor, or Event List display of the contents of the MIDI Region. Use of this facility, in conjunction with the UDL button allows you to quickly switch to another MIDI Region, and edit its contents. "
With a region selected for editing, clicking it once moves up a display level, showing all the notes in all sequences. Clicking it again should turn the matrix window into a pseudo arrange window - you can then select a different region to go back down into the matrix editor again.
But this doesn't work for me anymore, in 7.1.1, and I cannot find any mention that this behaviour has changed in the readmes etc.
Did they change this behaviour? Is it a bug? Does the same thing happen to you or is it just me?

Display a MFC Modal Dialog with CListBox in TestStand

I want to display a MFC Modal Dialog with a CListBox element, but I can't fill the listbox with data.
Here are some commands of my program:

Running the sequence file in TestStand and calling the dll function descriped above causes an assertion failure each time I try to add anything to the StringList. Why? And what am I doing wrong? Is there
a documentation about how to write dlls with MFC elements
for use with TestStand using other tools than LabWindows/CVI? Everything I found so far is rather crude.

I had logged Bug 5703183 and this seems similar to that.
Solnt was
Copy frmwebutil.jar from a patched Oracle DS installation where Webutil 10.1.2.x exist to the IAS
Also clear the jinitator/javaplugin cache

Displaying Text in a Dialog Box

I'm learning Java by reading the book : Java How to Program, 5th edition. Starting chapter 2, all the example programs use windows or dialog boxes to display output instead of display output in the command window. Can someone explain to me why is this necessary ? I'm a little confused reading some of the examples in this book.

personally, i dont think it's a good approach. for beginners, it would be better to learn the basic java concepts and enssential classes first cause this would give you a easier starting point. Then, trying mix your code up with graphical user interface(GUI), once you've got some basic ideas and coding experiences. for example, the tutorials on this web site does adopt this approach.

Display document data in dialog box

I am using a folder level script to do the following:
Get a specific XMP field value from an open PDF file:
this.info.InDesignFileName
Define a dialog box
Create a menu item that calls the dialog box
But for the life of me, I cannot get the dialog creation function to populate the XMP value into a static text item.
The function below is modified from the example right out of the Acrobat Javascript API Reference.
