Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Has anyone else had Windows Explorer or MS Office products crash with the eLearning suite installed?

I'm running Captivate 6.0.1. I frequently experience Microsoft Windows Explorer crashing or any of the MS Office products crashing as well (Word, Office, etc). Our office is running Windows 7. I'm the only person in our 250+ employee organization who experiences this problem but I'm also the only one with Adobe eLearning Suite Installed. Our I.T. dept has even rebuilt my machine from a clean install and the problem is still there. I'm not sure if it's Adobe related but that's what I suspect is the problem. Any one have any ideas or has this happened to anyone else? Thanks. BTW, there are 2 other staff here that have Captivate installed but not the full e-learning suite and they don't have this problem.

    Hi There,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
There is no such known issue that eLearning Suite installation is crashing MS Office or other Microsoft products.
    Please try this:
    1) If you are connected in a domain then first logon to a local admin account or in the built in administrator account.
    2) Disable the third party services and startup items on the computer as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 and after restarting the computer install eLearning Suite.
    3) If eLearning Suite and MS Office or other Microsoft products work fine together then enable the services and startup items and restart the computer. Check again.
Please let me know if that helps.
Also let me know if you have anyother Adobe product installed in the computer.
    Thanks
    Vikas

  • Office 2010 crashing when in offline mode

I have a strange one here.I have a laptop that was just sent to a user as a replacement laptop. It is running Windows 7 (x64) and Office Suite 2010.When this user opens Outlook while connected to the network (including VPN) everything is happy panda bears. However as soon as he opens Outlook without a network connection, which triggers offline mode (set to automatically detect connection state), it hangs for a few seconds (Not Responding) and then prompts with "Close Program" error window.I can replicate this by selecting the setting in Outlook to prompt for connection state during launch. If I select Offline, it hangs and crashes (same as above), if I select Online, everything works peachy.I've tried deleting and recreating his Outlook profile, to no avail. Checked for updates, system file checker and so on. Finally, I recreated his...

Did you try to open teh fle by double-clicking its icon? If the file was made with an older version of Office, you may get that message. Try opeing PP and, from its "File" menu, see if you can open the ppt. I've foundthat often gets around that message and then yo ucan save the file from the newer version.
If that doesn't work, consider asking in the Microsoft Office: Mac forums here:

PowerPoint is not an Apple product and it seems a lot of people around here avoid Office.

  • I just updated my OS to Leopard and know Power Point from my office suite is opening, or tries to after a reboot and hangs when you try to open it.

I just updated my Mac Book Pro to leopard 10.6.8, and now Power Point from my office suite angs, and when I start up or re boot the laptop Power Point automatically opens and then just hangs, the only way to close is to force close.
Does any one know of any similar issues.
    Thanks

  • Office Suite for Mac

Hi, has anyone tried this software?..saw it on Ebay..as I was looking at Mac stuff..

I have never heard of that either. Do you need to open/edit Microsoft Office documents? If so, I would recommend you give NeoOffice a try first. It's based on the free OpenOffice, but does not require you to install Apple's X11 windowing system first. It's actually worked pretty well for me. If you find that NeoOffice does not meet your needs, then I would save-up to buy a full copy of Microsoft Office for the Mac.

  • All office programs crash when I click on the File menu

I can open files in every program fine but as soon as I go to the File Menu it puts up the "program" is not responding box
Excel, Word and PowerPoint all crash when trying for the File Menu.
Outlook will let me go to the File Menu but if I click on Office Account then it will crash. I have uninstalled and reinstalled once already.

    Hi,
Since you have re-installed Office, this issue may conflict with some other 3rd-party applications. We can check if Office still crash in clean boot mode.
About how to perform a clean boot, please refer to this KB.

If this issue still exists, please try to collect the Event log. And you can also upload them through One Drive and share the link to me. I’ll be able to analyze this issue in detail as soon as accessing it.

  • Converting MS Office Suite products to PDF - not retaining color

I am using MS Office suite (2003) specifically MS Word & Visio.  When I convert to PDF (using Professional 8) it is changing my color documents to black and white.  I have tried all different settings and have marked the selection to retain color scheme.  Nothing seems to work.  I checked my settings against another colleague and they are the same, but for some reason my version will not convert in color.  Please HELP..

It's happening the same way on several different computers here.
Everyone logs in with their own userid on each machine. We are all working with the same MS WORD documents. These documents are non-standard sizes -- 6 x 9, or 5.5 x 8.5.
Everyone uses the same version of Acrobat Professional, and selects "Convert to PDF from file".
For some people, the PDF is created from the Word doc, and the original page size is retained. This is what we want.
However, for others, the PDF is created as 8.5 x 11, no matter what the original size of the document was. No amount of fiddling with the default page size, in either Acrobat or Word, changes this.
It is driving me crazy, and I was hoping that at least one other person on the planet has come across this problem. Is this an Adobe or a Microsoft problem? Could it be a Windows registry setting?
    Advice is appreciated!

Install Snow Leopard on another boot partition, or upgrade Microsoft Office to a newer version, or use any number of better alternatives. Some of them are free.
    Consider
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
    NeoOffice ($10)
    OpenOffice (completely free)
In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft.

  • Office 2007 Crashes

My Office 2007 now crashes every time I "Save".  "Office has stopped working.  Looking for a solution. Several minutes" kind of notice appears. It soon restarts with an autosaved choice in the left column. I
select it and the page is back to normal with everything recovered. I select "Save" again and the endless cycle repeats itself. I can only save my work by copying and pasting it into "MS Works" from where I can "Save it".

I need a good reliable office suite.  Open Office is not working well for me.  Any suggestions?

If you mean Open Office is not always able to correctly open documents received from clients created with MS Office, then the only real solution is to purchase Office 2011 for Mac. As good as some of the free alternatives are, they can't duplicate every feature of MS Office.

  • Office 2003 crashes on TP T520 Windows 7 pro 64bits

    Hello,
As stated in the subject, I have random crashes of Office 2003 with windows 7 pro 64 bit
    I have already:
    - "Repaired" Office with the config pannel
    - "Uninstalled and reinstalled" office, also by removing the keys in the Registry Office

    - "Uninstalled and reinstalled" office, with the MS tool FIX IT
    - "Uninstalled and reinstalled" the Bluetooth driver (told to me on another forum)
Always the same: All of Office apps crash randomly, and often leaving the application
If someone has an idea (I must absolutely use version 2003)??

Hi, i want to buy a mac book pro. I was wondering if the ms office suit that i will buy can be a normal version or a one that has to be compatible with mac?

It must be compatible with Mac OS X. You have to install the Mac OS X Microsoft Office version > http://www.microsoft.com/mac
Also, you can use the PC version, but in this case, you will have to install Windows on a virtual machine or Boot Camp, so it's better to use the OS X version. There are alternatives for Office, like Apple iWork or LibreOffice, if you want to try them before

  • Mac office suite programs won't start up

    Dear friendly Mac users,
I have been successfully using the Mac Office suite of programs on my MacBookPro for about a year. Now, suddenly, none of the programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) will start up. The small pop-up page identifying the selected program emerges for a couple of seconds (as usual), but nothing happens thereafter - i.e. the actual program fails to start. I have also tried starting the programs by attempting to open an existing file (E.G. a Word document), but the (lack of) result is the same.
The only recent change I can think of that has happened on the Mac is the upgrade to Mac OS 1.5.2
    Any and all help appreciated!

    Re-installed all. Now works OK.

  • What happened to the Microsoft Office suite when I loaded Lion?

I loaded Lion operating system last night and rushed without reading all of the fine print. After the Lion was loaded I received a notice that Microsoft Office Suite was not supported. My questions are, 1) Can Lion support the Microsoft Office Suites (maybe a newer version) 2) Can I return to the previous Operating System?
    Never mind!
    Thanks

    1. Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 & 2011 versions support OS X Lion
    2. Yes, you can downgrade to Snow Leopard if you have up-to-date Time Machine backups, however I won't recommend you to do that.
Over the weekend Microsoft published a knowledge base article that outlines some known issues with Office for Mac on OS X 10.7. Overall, if you have Office 2004 and rely on it, then do not upgrade to OS X Lion until you have an alternative Office version installed (2008 or preferably 2011). Office 2004 is PowerPC code, and as with Intuit's Quicken 2007 and earlier versions, if you install Lion then you will not be able to launch Office 2004.
