Officejet 4500. It will pirnt a few times and I have to turn if off to reset it at least once a day

I purchased my 4500 for the classroom about 8 weeks ago. It was great for about a week. Now after a few printings I will hear a knocking sound like the print cartridges are trying to line up but can't. The next time I go to print, nothing happens. I then turn off the printer and wait at least 5 minutes. Then I usually can print again, but not always. Do I have a lemon or is there something I can do to make it print all the time? As a teacher this is very frustrating. My time is valuable.

No, I do not get any prompt whatsoever.. I can move the mouse but cannot click on anything.. Just frozen screen, can't close a window, can't click on apple symbol on top to try to force quit an app..

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Easiest way is to have an external drive to which you copy the things you store like pictures, movies, and music
which take up a lot of space. Then delete them fron the main drive and clean it up with one of the maintenance utilities. You can readily access the external drive's contents whenever you wish.

It seems your iPhone is slowing down and not responding frequently. To rectify this issue you may want to consider performing a restore on the device, and then restoring your data from a backup via iCloud or iTunes.

HT1476 My phone was fully charged and while talkng, it went to a blank screen. It will not come back on. I have tried turning it off and back on, but it doesn't do anything, just keeps the blank screen.

While talking on the phone this morning, it was fully charged, the screen went blank and I could no longer use the phone. I tried turing it off and then on, but it still ghad a blank screen. I even tried charging the phone, but it still has a blank screen.

I am sorry to hear about your phone.
You could try connecting it to your laptop and see if itune recognises the phone.
If it does then make a backup of your phone.
You could then restore it and see if it helps.
It shouldn't be much of a problem if its a software issue but if something went wrong with the hardware then you might have to go to an Apple store.

I try to do software update but it freezes about a quarter way thrugh and i have to turn the computer off and back on

Go to ~/Library/Preferences
Move the com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, exactly which update are you trying to download? You may be able to use the standalone ??

Firefox 4 will not open any windows and I can not turn it off either.

I get a grey square at bottom left of my screen when I attempt to open Firefox 4. I have tried restarting my Macbook Pro and that has done no good. Any help would be wonderful.
Also if I have to delete the browser to reinstall how do I save my bookmarks?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Well, two thoughts.
The battery has completely discharged and will take overnight to recharge, so don't expect much in an hour.
The battery has deep discharged and is now dead. It will never recharge and should be replaced.

Yay! Solved my own question; just did a hard shutdown, worked like a charm! Funny, didn't before. But who am I to question salvation?

Right now have got it on the AC without the battery to try to charge the backup battery.
I have managed to restore it several times after crashing, inspite of my tech guy claiming otherwise. but have never really opened it up besides just looking at the memory slots. just one filled with 512 card.

My friend. Do not despair.
Firstly, you have a backup. Kudos.
Secondly, i suspect the hard drive in the machine is more than just a few years old. Hard drives die. I suspect the hard drive is the issue, not the cable.
Thirdly, it is worth changing the hard drive and take the ifixit advice. Simple to change. If it will be your first time changing the hard drive, just be organized and follow the steps carefully.
Now, before we decided it is the hard drive we need to confirm this.
I would check if SMART reports favorable conditions for the drive. Disk utility can tell you.
If good then I would zero out the drive. This allows the drive to excercise every sector and will build confidence of a well prepared drive going forward.
You can then restore from backup.
The other option is to replace the internal HD with a new one, perhaps with more storage.
As an FYI, I replaced the drive on my powerbook G3 and it's faster, quite , has more storage and gives me some peace of mind. Worth the money. The little guy runs beautifully.

IPhoto won't start... Icon bounces a few times and stops

I'm using iPhoto now for a long time, but a few weeks ago it simply stopped working... My iPhoto Version: 9.5.1 on Mavericks 10.9.1
When I double-click the icon it bounces a few times and then disappears again. I tried already many different solutions like repairing disk permissions or deleting the plist-files, rebuilding the iPhoto library doesn't work because the app won't start...
Can anybody help me?

Simply downloading a new NyxAudioAnalysis.framework and replacing/copying it to the location shown by Console solved everything!
