    Hi sdrrmit,
It sounds like the printer didn't get installed correctly in your Windows operating system. Follow the steps below.
    Step one: Clear temp directory
On the Apps desktop right click the mouse, and select all apps. Type %temp% in the run app.
Highlight all the files in this folder, and then press the delete key to delete. If you get a message that the file is in use you will need to skip this file(s).
    Continue with Step 2 below
Step two: Downloaded and extracted to your system:
    1. Download the full feature software and drivers
    Full solution software
    2. Once the download is finished double click on the file to extract the software.
    3. When the installation window opens press the cancel button to stop the installation
    4. On the Apps desktop right click the mouse, and select all apps. Type %temp% in the run app.
    5. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    6. Right click on the folder, and select Copy
    7. Close that window, and all your open windows, and then in the middle of the desktop right click your mouse, and select Paste. This will move the 7z folder to your desktop.
    8. Open the 7z folder you just copied to your desktop
    9. Open folder Util
    10. Open folder CCC
    11. Run the uninstall_L4
    12. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    13. Run Disk cleanup by holding down the Windows button and R at the same time to pull up the Run prompt and type cleanmgr.exe and press enter.  Select all the boxes and delete everything. Click on the link below regarding this tool and any disclaimers.
    Cleanmgr Disclaimer
    14. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    Update Adobe Flash Player
    15. Open the 7z folder, and then double click on the Setup.exe file which will be toward the bottom of the open window. Follow the on screen instructions to reinstall your printer.
Let me know if you are able to successfully install the software and driver, and are able to print & scan?

  • How do I get my Officejet 4500 Desktop to print straight copies again? They currently print askew.

How do I get my Officejet 4500 Desktop to print straight copies again?  They currently print askew.  This is frustrating, when I need to make copies of the printouts I have to adjust the way it lays on the copy glass to try and get a straight print.

Have you tried reoving a cartaridge and putting it back in? Any time you put in a new cartaridge, the printer prints a page you should scan that will align the printer.

  • Officejet 4500 Wireless i printed 25 copies of a text doc. About every 10th page partial page print

officejet 4500 Wireless i printed 25 copies of a text doc. About every 10th page only partial page printed. Once only 1/2 anther time 2/3 and the printer continued in each case without intervention printing correct copies

let's remove the printer thoroughly from the computer. I want you to uninstall, remove and otherwise delete any printer related folders or files on your computer. Remove them from Programs and Features, Device Manager, and Devices and Printers. The in the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Delete all the files and folders in the temp folder that allow you to delete them.
Then restart your computer and re-download the -FULL-FEATURE- software and drivers and install the printer (link below). Do this and we will have a good starting position for the rest of the trouble shooting on this issue.

  • Officejet 4500 will not print black ink

Our small office has had an Officejet 4500 for a few months now with no problems. Today it has ceased printing any black ink.
-I have changed the cartridge to be sure, though at no point has it said low ink. This fixed the problem for a few pages but the problem popped back up. I did align the cartridges after installing the new cartridge.
-I have tried cleaning the contacts on the cartridge itself.
-The scanning function still functions and color ink can be printed.
-Overall printing does seem slower, regardless of the black ink issue. Not sure if related.
-The all in one has been used more frequently in the past few weeks.

I am experience the same problems on two printers. On my 4500, the black ink doesn't print. The cartridge is more than half full, the heads have been cleaned, the alignment completed. Also, I am experience the exact same issue on a Officejet 6500 with the magenta cartridge. In both cases, it was working...and then it wasn't. [snip]
For the Officejet 6500 you might try the soak procedure described here.

  • OfficeJet 4500 will not print two sided over network

I'm running on Windows 7 with an OfficeJet 4500 G510n-z over WiFi.  Printer works great except that it will not print two sided.  We've used a non-WiFi 4500 to print two sided before.  With the new printer the first pages print and the pop-up shows on the laptop (prompt to flip paper over) but nothing happens.  The second pages never print.
I've run all of the HP print and network diagnostics.  Everything appears to be OK.

The solution below was found on the sticky post at the top of this board "Fixes and Workarounds from HP"
I think the patch below only applies if you have the original printer software installed, I assume this issue was fixed in later versions of the printer software, Read the patch information carefully.

  • HP officejet 4500 won't print in landscape.

I have many reports that I have to print for work and I cannot get the printer to print in landscape.  I even go to page preview on my computer and it shows that it is in landscape, but when I go to print in prints only 1 column in portrait.  What do I do? Please help! Thank you

I have this same printer and it will not print in landscape if it is selected for portrait unless i go into the control panel and change it like you suggested. When I change it to landscape it tries to print everything in landscape. It does not allow me to change when I click print then properties. Very annoying to have to do that every time i want to print a different layout.

  • Officejet 4500 will not print from internet.

Printer will only print e-mails, will not print anything from internet.  "Unspecified error, Line 2107, Char1, Code0 res://ieframe.dll/preview.js" appears when ever I try to print from internet.

The issue is caused when Windows creates the printer profile in the control panel that it doesn't correctly create it with the drivers.
We're not going to completely uninstall all the HP software, instead we're going to remove the corrupt Windows printer profile and reinstall it.  Total time for this on an average computer is about 5-10 minutes to completely repair (including reboot).
    1) Navigate to Start Menu > Devices and Printers or Start Menu > Control Panel > Printers
    2) Select each printer profile for the printer with an issue, then select remove device/printer.
    3) Reboot
    4) Navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > HP > insert model # here > Add Printer (or Setup Wizard)
    5) Follow the setup prompts to reinstall the printer profile and it recreates the Windows printer.
    6) Test by printing google.com (uses very little ink when the test page comes out).
Let me know if you have any questions or issues.
    Thanks,

  • Officejet 4500 won't print Custom Size

Printer Preferences accepts 5.5x8.5 (half an 8.5x11 sheet) custom size In WinXP Control Panel/Printer.  I also put this into MS Word 2003.  But when I go to print the final Print Preview shows 8.5x11 size.  Going back to MS Word/Print/Preferences to re-input paper I choose CUSTOM , Plain Paper, 5.5x8.5 inches, landscape but the box does not do anything.  That is - after putting in the values the NEXT button does not activate.  Only Cancel works.  Help says that the HP Printer Preferences entered in Control Panel should work fine - and that MS Word page setup should over ride the HP settings.  Doesn't.  The only thing I can do is select 5x8 Index Card as paper type in HP - which is close but not exact.  OR , I have to create my work using half of an 8.5x11 sheet but letting HP think I am using the whole sheet.  There is nothing on the bottom half so it works.  But this is a royal pain.
This works just fine using my Brother's Laser printer and my Canon Inkjet printer - on both MS Word 2003 and Lotus Word Pro.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  I tried getting the latest driver but install says I already have the latest.

    OK, great, thanks for that.
How are you starting the print job?  Are you using the print icon on the Yahoo page or File > Print or the print icon in IE8?  Do you get different results from these three paths?  Do you get any error messages?

How do I make my printer work?  It stopped responding 2 weeks ago and will not print from the print command.  It will print a wireless test report, so it is capable.  Please help...

Your printer network name (ssid), is the name of YOUR network.
When you print out the wireless test report, does it show connected, or gives IP address?

  • HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z Wireless connection prints from Windows Vista but not from Windows 7

HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z printer appears to be connected to my Dell Notebook running Windows 7 on the HP Solution Center page but does not print.Documents just get stuck in the que. It was printing then it wasn't then it was then it wasn't. The printer works when I print from an older notebook running Vista. The last time this happened, I uninstalled and reinstalled HP software and that didn't seem to help. Then, for some inexplicable reason, printing started working. Now it has stopped working again.I can scan from the Windows 7 Notebook but no printing. I've tried all of the troubleshooting tools I could find without success. Thanks for trying to help.

    Hello-
It could be caused by a couple things :
    1. Firewall on PC or in router.
    2. wireless interference (ie microwave, cordless phone base @ 2.4 Ghz)
    3. distance from router
    4. corrupt print driver.
Turn off any firewalls you have and move anything that can cause interference away from router.
If none of the above resolves issue, I'll have you install another print driver.
    Click on start.
    Go to Devices and Printers.
    Click on Add a Printer.
Add a Local printer. Create a new Port and choose "Standard TCP/IP port.
    Hit Next.
Type in 192.168.1.12 in the Hostname or IP address box. (uncheck "Query the printer" box)
    Hit next.
When the Printer List opens up, click on windows update. ( this will take a few mins)
After the box shows up, Pick HP (not Hewlett Packard) on the Left and pick "Deskjet 990c" on the Right.
Click next, set as default, and finish.
Try to print using the Deskjet 990c.

  • Link to Windows 8.1 Printer (Fax, Copy and Scan) Drivers for OfficeJet 4500 G510n-z

    Hello:
Need to know where I can find updated drivers for my OfficeJet 4500 G510n-z printer.   I am using Windows 8.1 operating system.
I have tried using the link at HP, but at the point that it supposedly gets to the install window, it asks me to insert the disc that came with the printer.  When I do that, I still get an error message saying something like "the link cannot be found."  I also get another message at some pont indicating that the full version needs to be uploaded.  Then, the same process starts all over again.   I should add that the printer disc says that it is compatible with XP, Windows 7 and other earlier versions, but not 8 or 8.1
I have tried this 6 or 7 times with the same result.  Dell (the company from which I bought the laptop) was useless and suggested I contact HP.
I can no longer scan, either, because the computer isn't recognzing that the printer has a scan function, so when I go to use PaperPort 12 to scan stuff, it doesn't recognize that a printer is attached.
Any help resolving these problems would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Wireless printing does not work when VPN into network (officejet 4500)

    Officejet 4500 G510n
I print with wireless, which works fine,
Until I VPN into the network (which is most of the day) at which point printer shows offline.
To print what is in the que, I have to log out of the network, wait for it to print, then log back in.
Is there a fix for this?

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply.
For that you will have to contact your network administrator, ask them to grant you access to use the resources on the local network when you are connected to  the VPN. So that you can use the printer, when you are connected to the VPN.
As I Said earlier, when you are connected to the VPN you completely on a different network (Office Network) and you are disconnected from your local network. Your local network will just be acting as a bridge.
