Officejet 4620 wireless network name change

I have searched this forum till i'm blue
I have an officejet 4620 connected wirelessly to my Mac running Mavericks.
It was working FINE until I recently changed the network name in my house.
So how do I get the printer to see the new network name?  Please don't say re-install the software?
On a side note there is a good chance I will be upgrading from Mavericks to Yosemite soon. So if this will solve it then I will just wait for that. Otherwise, if someone can tell me an easy way to do this i'm all ears.
Thanks

Hi @DeputyDawgATL , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're experiencing connectivity issues.  I'd like to help!
I would recommend performing a power reset.   Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I'd also suggest this document on Wireless printing center Troubleshooting Issues.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • HELP!!!  WIRELESS NETWORK NAME CHANGE

Does anyone know how to change the wireless network name on a linksys wireless-G router? I can find any software ANYWHERE that will work on a mac. is there any mac drivers or anything out there for this product?

You need to use your web browser to acces the router. Does your documentation give you an IP address for the router or perhaps a web url? If so type that into your browser and the setting should become available. You will need a user name and password to reach the settings. This may be printed on the bottom of the router. Or try admin for the users name and password for the password.

  • Time machine setup - how to change 'wireless network name' and settings?

I have moved laptop to Mountain Lion.
This is the first time to backup to Timecapsule.
I went to Settings then Select Disk and selected existing Time Machine.
It took more than 30 minutes and seemed stuck on 'Preparing ....".
I cancelled and tried to 'Setup Time Capsule not  listed"...
The system recognised the Time Capsule but I see that the network settings is my old 'wireless network' name.
How do I change this to the correct network name and ensure that the settings are correct?
I think if this is corrected, the backup will work.
    Thanks in advance.

On the Home screen of the product control panel, touch the right arrow ( ) to view more options.
    Touch Setup ( ).
    Touch Network .
    Touch Wi-Fi Protected Setup .
    Touch PIN .
Touch Start . The product displays a PIN.
NOTE:The product begins a timer for approximately two minutes to allow you time to enter the PIN on the networking device.
Enter the PIN on the WPS-enabled router or other networking device.

  • Arris CM820 - Change Wireless Network Name for Arris CM820

Hi-How do I change the wireless network name for Arris CM820? The support page lists many other kinds of modems but not this one. Thanks. Hardware: Mac OSX 10.9.95

The AirPort Express is exactly what you need, but when you attach it to a cable modem, you need to power cycle the modem to pickup the MAC address of the new device.
I suggest you do a full reset of the AirPort by pressing the reset button on it for over 30 seconds, power down the modem, connect the modem to the AirPort, then power up everything, then use the AirPort utility to configure the AirPort and your wi-fi settings from scratch.  If everything's good, then the LED on the AirPort will be green and you will have connectivity.
One warning, if you have 105 service from Comcast, the Express will limit your speeds to 90 or so as it has a 10/100 WAN / LAN ports.  For 105 speeds and higher you would need a AirPort Extreme.

  • The password for wireless network was changed.  Airport keeps trying to sign in automatically with old password and won't let me put in new password. Any ideas?

The password for wireless network was changed.  Airport keeps trying to sign in automatically with old password and won't let me put in new password. Any ideas?

You really should change both the wireless network name and password to avoid potential conflicts with the old and new settings.
Suggest you give that a try.

  • WRT54G Wireless network name problem

My router keeps reseting its wireless network name by itself back to the default "linksys" setting, without any interaction from me.  The router is protected with a non default password.

Open routers set up page ....... under wireless tab ..... change the network name (SSID) to any non linksys name ......
Make sure to click save settings after this ......
If still after some time it is changing back to linksys .....
Check the firmware version under status tab ..........
If required update download the latest firmware from http://linksys.com/download .....

  • Hiding wireless network name (SSID)

For security reasons I'd like to be able to hide my wireless network name through my homehub but when I choose this option in the homehub settings my tablet says it's not in range, yet my laptop is still able to connect wirelessly.
I suspect that this is something to do with the option I have available on the laptop of connecting even if the network is not broadcasting, something I don't seem to have available on my tablet (Archos cobalt 80, Android version 4.0.4).
Is there a way around this?

I don't know why your tablet won't connect but there really is little security if any to be gained by hiding your SSid. Any serious hacker can find your SSid in seconds. It's more important to have a good passkey for the wireless connection.
If you download inSSider which is a free wireless scanner I believe it will see hidden SSids without any problem. Download it and give it a try.

With that in mind it may be as well just to let your SSid be broadcast and your tablet will connect without problem.

  • Necessary to have the same wireless network name for using WDS?

I have set up two Airports in WDS mode. I did this so my ps3 could get on the internet via ethernet (its an older model, and doesn't have wireless, so you have to use an ethernet bridge). I set up the WDS fine, and my Airport extreme base station (the square one) is the WDS main, while as my old Airport extreme (snow) is the remote, which I use to run a cable from to my ps3 to access the internet. This works fine when I have the network names for each base station the same.
I was under the impression that you could have two different named wireless networks for two base stations (i.e .they have different names), as long as you have the MAC addresses set up correctly for the WDS settings (i.e. main and remote). However, when I do that, I can no longer access the ethernet from the remote base station on my PS3. I can only access the ethernet via my PS3 if I have the wireless network for each base station literally named the same. Seems kind of strange if you have the MAC addresses set up correctly for the main and remote, as shouldn't they be talking to each other via that mode, and not the actual wireless network name?
I would like to have each base station with its own wirelss network name, so I can differentiate between them. I get some strange issues when my airport card scans, it frequently switches between base stations, and this slows down certain programs (i.e. VPN connections for mail etc).
I set this up pretty literally from the airport guide from the apple site.

I was under the impression that you could have two different named wireless networks for two base stations (i.e .they have different names), as long as you have the MAC addresses set up correctly for the WDS settings (i.e. main and remote).
No that is not correct. Since the 2 are working together to create a single wireless network, they must use the same network name.

  • Changing Wireless network name on Photosmart 5520

I cannot print documents from my network and I think it it because of network confusion. The test page prints fine so I know I have connection to the printer.  I have two wireless networks in my home and the printer display shows network#2.  I want it to use network #1.  How do I change the network name on my printer display panel?

  • Officejet 6500 forgetting network name and drops out all the time

I just got an Officejet 6500 (non-wireless model)
I can assign a network name to it and it works fine, until it's power-cycled. Then it has the original network name again and of course it won't work until it's installed again.
Another problem that could probably be related is that even when I use the default network-name to add it as a network printer in Vista, connection seem to break and it won't print again until I install it over once again.
I get the feeling that firmware is somewhat buggy on it. I don't expect such a device to use batteries to keep it's settings, so I think it's safe to rule out?

@Wifi-Guy: Yes, it's using an ethernet cable IP address always work.
I did some additional testing to find the exact reproducable error.
(I have previously installed the HP software that came on the CD)
    1. I added the printer using the "Add new printer" wizard in Vista
    2. Print test page, works fine
    3. Turn off the Officejet 6500 on the power-button on the front panel (then the WSD Print Provider dissappears in Device Manager).
    4. Printer status now appear as "Offline"
    5. Turn on the Officejet 6500 again
    6. When WSD Print Provider again appears in Device Manager, printer status changes from "Offline" to "User intervention Required" and it's impossible to make it print again unless printer is deleted and added again.
I was not able to find any useful information about this printer status using google.
I just tried changing the network name. As I suspected, this also resets just by powercycling.
    Note: I'm using Vista x64.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 Network Name

    Dear HP Folks,
We have several printers in a small business network.   I would like to give each printer a unique name without having to set it up on each individual computer.
I've logged into the printer and in the advanced network tab,  set the Bonjour Service Name, but the printer still shows up with the generic name.   What am I missing?
    Please help!
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi @melaniewest
Instead of selecting and changing the Bonjour Service name, change the Host name. I am certain you can do this in the Embedded Web Server, but you can also make this change right on the front panel of the printer if that is easier.
On the printer screen, scroll over to and select Setup, then select Network Setup, then Wireless Settings. Scroll down to Advanced Settings, the to Host name, and touch Change.
Please let me know if this resolves your inquiry. Thanks.

  • Wireless network name

I would like to change my wireless(airPort) network name. Is there a way to do that through my macbook or do i have to contact my internet provider?
    Thank you

You need to get into the settings of your router. See the router's manual for instructions.

  • Network name change

How do I change networks name?

    Hi,
It would help to know where you are seeing a Network name ?
This name for example is coming from the router itself (you would have to change it there)

  • Wireless Network Name dissapeared?!

Hi, I have an Intel Macbook. Went away this weekend and when I came back, could no longer see the name of my wireless network! I can see it if I use my cell phone to connect via wireless lan, so I know it's still technically working. Is there a fix for this? I can see other networks, just not mine! I have a TCom Speedport W 700V as a router.

This is a long shot, given that your cell phone can see it, but SSID Broadcast didn't somehow get disabled in the router, did it? Or maybe the transmit power get backed down to minimum?

  • TS1398 this didn't help me at all. out of the clear clue my iPad can't even scan for wireless networks. even when I type in my home wireless network name. my phone can connect to it but for whatever reason my iPad won't. nothing I've tried works. I'm ****

believe me I've tried EVERTHING and my iPad still 'can't scan for wireless networks'. it happened all of a sudden and is really really frustrating. I really don't want to have to drive 40 minutes to the nearest 'genius bar'. I'm about ready to break this thing over my knee. I've even tried the frig trick. it worked for about 30 seconds. and then? nothing. any non sarcastic suggestions?
