Officejet 4630 printing margins problem

Hi there-
I just purchased an Officejet 4630 and have had some immediate printing issues come up.
The main issue I've found is that the margins for printing at the top and bottom of letter-sized pages seem to get cut off when at 100% scale.
I've uninstalled and re-installed the printer with the correct driver, but none of this seems to solve the issue.
I've used both preview and excel to try and print and they both have the same problem. It seems the only way I can get the entire image to print is to shrink down the scale, but I do not want to do this as I'm trying to maximize printing space, which is vital for my business printing needs.
Do you have any solution to this problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @el_jefe,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that the margins for printing at the top and bottom of letter-sized pages seem to get cut off when at 100% scale. When printing with your HP Officejet 4630.
Please try the following:
Reset the printing system. OS X Yosemite: Reset the printing system.
Verify and repair disk permissions. Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions.
Otherwise, it could just be a setting within the Microsoft Office Suite that needs to be changed. I would suggest also contacting Microsoft Office Support for assistance, or consider trying another Office Suite such as OpenOffice, or LibreOffice, and see if they do the same thing.
Hope this information helps!

  • Officejet 4630 printer makes high pitched whine even when not printing

I just bought an Officejet 4630 printer for home use and noticed it makes an annoying high pitched whine whenever it's not sleeping, even when not printing.  Is not very loud, and would not be noticeable in an office environment due to ambient noise, but is obvious in a quiet home environment.  Is this normal for this model or is the unit defective?  Neither of my two previous inkjet printers made this noise.

    Hello,
If your OfficeJet 4630 is within the standard warranty period, please contact HP technical support to speak to one of our agents who can troubleshoot and diagnose this issue.
We look forward to your response,

    Hello stok60,
    Welcome the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to print from Google Chrome using the Officejet 4630. I will do my best to assist you! I would recommend following this document on Printing Problems With Google Chorme.
If this document doesn't resolve your issue, then please try uninstalling Google Chrome by following this document here. Now, install the latest version of Google Chrome here.
Have you tried a different Web Browser to see if you're receiving the same problem?
Another option you can try is using Google Cloud Print since your printer has ePrint as an added feature. I will provide two documents to help you. This document tells you information on What is Google Cloud Print? This document tells you how to set up this feature here.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

  • HP Officejet 4630 printing on cards

I am trying to print on cardstock from my officejet 4630.  When I do it cuts off the top of it.  It doesn't do this when I try to copy the same thing on plain paper.  What am I doing wrong?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I am not sure you are doing anything wrong.  The problem might have to do with your Printing Preferences; the printer needs to know not only what size of paper you are using, but also the kind of paper, that is, the thickness of that paper.
For example, you might try setting the Media type to a thicker paper type -- Brochure matte, Business cards, something that indicates a "thick" paper so the printer feeds the paper properly.
    Reference:
    Printing Preferences
You can also check to assure the settings include some method to assure the content is set to fit within the confines of the printed area.  Depending on the source of the print -- web page content, document, photo, or mixed content, the settings may need to be set to "shrint to fit" in Print Preview.
Manage Print Output with Print Preview
Photos respond differently than text (documents) and can behave strangely to some settings.

  • Cannot download Officejet 4630 printer drivers

I attempted to download drivers for the Officejet 4630 all-in-one. I was directed to a page to select my printer model. When I clicked on the model number, I was directed to a screen that had a picture of my printer, but little else. I was unable to do anything from that page. What do I do now?

The HP driver download pages are having problems currently.  If you are in a hurry the file you need for the Vista driver for the Officejet 4630 is file OJ4630_188.exe, a net search may provide alternate download locations.  Be careful when accessing third party sites....

  • OfficeJet 4630 printer paper jams

I was setting up my printer, and when I loaded the paper tray to print an alignment sheet the printer either couldn't get to the paper or had a paper jam.  At least 5 sheets of paper have been jammed during the failed printing.  I need to know if it is the operator or the product.

Hello , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I see when you were setting up the alignment and putting the paper in on your HP Officejet 4630 the paper jammed. I would like you to start here: Setting Up the Printer Hardware, take a look at unpacking the printer and make sure all protective tape and tabs have been removed from inside and out. Now I would like you to start troubleshooting here: A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP Officejet 4630 Complete ALL steps in order and let me know the outcome. I will watch for your reply.

  • PSE 7 Print Margin Problem

Operating system is Windows 7 64bit.  I am printing to a HP 1600 series inkjet and/or a Brother 2170 wireless printer.  When I attempt to print in landscape mode, the right hand margin changes from whatever was set to 2.5" and truncates whatever is being printed from PSE 7.  When I select page setup from PSE 7, the margin settings are greyed out and can't be changed.  Assistance would be appreciated.  Thx, TL

    Dear Biker,
Thanks for your email.  Since receiving it this morning, I have received the following advice from HP Support and although I appreciate it's not your exact problem, maybe some of it will help.
I note that they suggest adding a Generic Drive for a Deskjet 990c model (even though mine's a Photosmart C46800) but later they mention my model so I suppose you need the 990c drive to make it all work.
One of the other replies I got from the forum was one which said, 'never buy an H.P'.   In fact, I'm so worried that H.P's advice will either cock-up my computer completely or change the way it prints 'Word' documents (currently O.K.) that maybe I'll buy a decent one..  Anyway, here's what H.P advised:
STEP 1  Add Generic Driver 990c
    1. Click 'Start
    2  Click Printers and Faxes'
3  In Printer folder, click 'Add a printer' icon
    4  Click Next
5  Select 'Local' and remove the check mark from 'Automaticallhy detect and install my Plug and Play printer
    6  Click 'Next'
    7  Click 'Next'
8 Select HP from Manufacturer list
9 Select the printer modeol as HP DeskJet 990c from the printer list, and then click Next
    10. Select Yes to make this printer the default printer and Click Next to continue
    11. Select No to skip the test page and then click Next
12 Click finish to complete the installation.
    STEP 2 Configure the port
1  Click Start, then Printers and Faxes
    2.  Right click on HP Photosmart C4680 All in one printer icon and then selct Properties
3  Select the Ports tab and then check which port is selected from the list of ports.  Make a note of the port that is selected
    4  Close Window
5  Right click on the HP Deskject 990c printed icon you have installed, then select the ports tab.  Select the same port that was selected for the HP Photosmart C4680 printer icon
6  Cick Apply and the OK

  • Printing Margin problem

First of all, it's the first time I post here and I'll thank you for your help
I'm under Mac OSX Snow Leopard and Acrobat Pro 9.
When I've a pdf without any margin, if I print this document, I have the normal margin of the printer on 3 sides and on 1 I've a very big margin, around 1 cm !
It's a very big problem if I want to make a recto/verso document!
It's not a problem of the printer, because I use a NRG MPC 2800 and I find the same problem on a black laser printer for desktop (Brother).
I think there's a problem with Acrobat 9 and Snow Leopard. I've nothing found on Internet and I need a solution.
If I print directly from InDesign, there's no problem. It's only with a pdf file.
    Please help me !
After any test, I've see that if I print the pdf from a PC under Win XP, there's no problem. It's only with the Mac.
    Thank you for your help.

I've already tried the setup you show me without any results.
To give a better idea of my problem, I post here the original file in acrobat, and the second is the file printed and scanned to put here. As you can see, the margin is on the bottom...
As you can see, I've also try to change the setup in paper management, to choose the A4 format. Once again without any results...

  • 6500 and 8500 Officejets duplex printing margins

Recently acquired these multifunctions. Use the full standard software installation under  XP both produce oversize top and bottom margins therefore compressing the body text.
    Single side printing is OK.
Also printing  from mobile eprint driver duplex is OK.
What's wrong with the full feature software set?????????????????
This seems to be an old and prevalent problem.
    HP what gives????????????????????

I have the same problem.  HP 6500a, Windows 7, using the software.  Printing duplex makes the top and bottom margins 1/2" bigger and sqeezes all the text in between.  I got my printer so I can print out resumes and cover letters, but they look terrible.  Printer is a paperweight now.
It looks like this has been a problem since 2009 (according to the forums).  Looking forward to a fix.

  • Officejet 4630 printer

I'M PREPARING TO PRINT A LETTER FROM SANTA TO MY NIECES AND NEPHEWS FOR TOMORROW. I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO PLACE THE LETTERHEAD SO IT PRINTS OUT CORRECTLY WITHOUT MESSING UP PAPER. RIGHT NOW I HAVE IT WITH THE LOGO ON THE TOP, AND FED IT AS I WOULD BLANK PAPER. IS THAT THE CORRECT WAY OR NOT? THANKS! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
That is normal way but your letter must allow to top part for the letterhead in page setup. For example, the letterhead uses top 2", in the letter you have to allow margin at least 2" at the top .
    Regards.

  • Print margin problem

    Hi,
CS3 / XP Home.  I am trying to print a 7 by 10 in image using my old Canon BJ200 printer. On Page Setup the right margin always default to 2.5 in,despite repeatly input to defferent numbers. I've lowered the image to 300dpi with no effect on print setting. What can I do?
    Peter

Yeah,I have one success by cutting the image to about 9 by 6 and it print out ok. And it does not default to 2.5 in right margin. But that's just one time success. The next try it does the samething again. The printer properties is set at "letter" "360 dpi"

  • Brand new officejet 4630 with black ink problem and ok button doesnt work

Hi! I bought a new printer today, officejet 4630 and it included toner cartridges in the box. Iset it up like the sheet in the box said. After I had filled in date etc, I put in the ink ( and yes, remembered to check that it was compatible and take of the tape) Then this message showed in the display and still does:  "Ink cartridge(s) problem. The following ink cartridges must be replaced" and a black dot.  The cartridges were brand new and came in the same box as the printer. I have tried a reset ( taking out the cord for power supply, wait 60 sec etc) I also saw in Hp support you were to press "ok" to get rid of the message before restart. I can't press ok. It just beeps. No matter what button I press.   Suggestions? Of course I can try with a new cartridge, but to paying $20 for a new cartridge when it was included in the box and should work is not ok.

  • HP All in One officejet 4630 not printing

    Hi all,
I bought my officejet 4630 earlier and haven't been able to print anything at all. When I press print it sends it the document to the printer but a few minutes later comes back with an error message. It scans fine and is connected through a USB as a wireless connection is not available in my office.
After uninstalling it and then installing it again it did not pick the printer up on the HP software used to setup the printer however it was picked up by the PC which after attempting to print a document came back with the same error message as before.
    Thanks

    Hey @M1XCE ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to print to your Officejet 4630 printer.
Can you tell me which operating system you are using?
It might also help to try another driver. Changing the driver to the one in my steps below will not remove product functionality:
    Go to Devices and Printers.
Right click on the 4630 printer.
    Select Printer Properties.
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the New driver button.
    Click Next >
Click HP from the list on the left.
Click HP Deskjet 9800 from the list on the right.
    Click Next >
    Click Finish.
Close the Properties window with OK.
    Test the printer.
Let me know if that helps.

  • 4630 printer jamming

I recently purchased the HP OfficeJet 4630  Print Scan Copy Fax and love it.  Problem is, it keeps jamming.  I have reloaded it, checked the paper, and even opened a new ream of paper.  Still doing it.  Any suggestions??

    Hi there @born2instruct
    Welcome to the HP Community,
I saw your post about your Officejet 4630 continuously jamming on you, and wanted to suggest a troubleshooting guide for you. I would mainly recommend a good cleaning of the rollers and that should help with the jams. All of the instructions are in this guide:
A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP Officejet 4630 and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4640 e-All-in-One...
Ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
If the jams continue, give us a call as the printer might need to be replaced if that does not help!
