Officejet 4630 scanning to Chromebook

Hi
I have just bought a Officejet 4630, primarily to use with my (Toshiba) Chromebook
However, when I want to scan documents to my Chromebook it asks if the software is loaded on to the Chromebook but I don't know how to load it on?
Also, how would I load scanning software to my Android tablet (running Lollipop) and Tablet (running KitKat)?
This question was solved.

Hi @ UpperSydenham
Welcome to the HP Forum,
So I understand you are having an issue with scanning and the software required. The first obstacle is with software.
Unfortunately software can not be installed on the Chrome operating system and the same can be said about Android devices. I'm sorry this answer seems bleak, but all is not lost.
I would like to address the android devices first.
Yes, they cannot install software but they can install apps (yeay)
HP has created the All-in-One Printer Remote for the android devices. It is Free and can be found in the Google Playstore on both you devices. (Android version 4.0 and higher)
You still wont be able to scan from the front panel of your 4630, but load the document in the feeder, or place it on the glass as if your were going to scan that way. once the document is in place open the All-in-One printer remote app.
The first time you do this you may have to select your printer. Once that is done you will see several options, and the one that will save the day is scan. Touch this and it will scan the document to your tablet. make any adjustments as needed then save the document or picture.  If you encounter any "hiccups" with this please let me know.
Now for the chrome book.
Bottom line:  Chromebooks do not support drivers and the printers were not originally designed to work with that particular OS. There is Webscan. Webscan may have unpredictable results, as it wasn't designed with the Chromebooks in mind. Scanning from the chromebook isn't supported.
The following steps work on a MAC or a PC and may not work with the Chromebook, but it is worth a try.
1. Touch the wireless icon on the printer and take note of the IP address.
2. Open a new browser on the chromebook
3. In the address bar type the printers ip address and press enter (return,go, ect...)
If all goes as planed you will reach the printers EWS (embedded web server). If you do not Please let me know we may have to go through some basic network trouble shooting.
4. Once in the EWS you will be on the Home tab, you will notice others. Click on the tab labelled Scan
This is the Webscan.
If you get a message about it being disabled, click or touch the Settings tab.
now touch Security (column on the left) Please do not get tempted with the section that says password
I have encountered nothing but pain an misery when a password is added to the printer.
Then touch Administrator Settings, you will now see to the left a little box to check so that webscan can be enabled.
Check the box and click Apply.
5. Adjust settings and click or touch scan at the bottom of the page. Once you see the image on the right, save it. (This is the part that sometimes does not work well on the Chrome OS)
What I would do, is use the AIO (All-in-One Printer Remote). It has the capability to share the scanned item. The one i am suggesting is your email. once the Item is in your email you can easily access it from the Chromebook.
If you have any questions, issues, or difficulties, please feel free to contact me.

  • OfficeJet 4630 Scanning to a Chromebox

I have an ASUS Chromebox and a HP OfficeJet 4630. I am able to bring up the printer on the Chromebox using the web interface (IP address). I am able to initiate a scan. But - there is no "Save" icon once the scan is completed. I can right click on the preview image and select "Save As," but when Chrome goes to download the file, a message "Failed - No file" appears in the Chrome download area.
The only way at present I've figured out how to get this to work is to select "Print" after right clicking on the preview image and then selecting Google Drive as a destination. Complicated work around.
Is this a Chrome or HP web interface issue? Or am I missing something?

    Hi 6005C,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you would like to learn how to save your scans when scanning using the printer’s embedded web server.
I have included the How to Scan: Windows RT or Windows 8 on a Tablet document.  I’ve included this because it has a sub-section in the Windows 8 section dedicated to scanning with the embedded web server.  You can find this sub-section in the section titled “How to scan without HP software”.  To save the scan you right click on the image and one of your options should be to save the scan.   I have included a screen shot showing the toolbar you would be looking for.

  • Scan resolution of PDF file from HP Officejet 4630

Hi, I'm running Mac OS9.1 and a HP Officejet 4630, and the HP Scan App. Appears to scan correctly, image in the App is good but when I save from the Scan app the PDF image is approx 4 times the size of the A4 page, ie when I open the PDF file only the top left quarter of the scanned page is visible and the text is enlarged and stretched slightly horizontally. I have tried a number of different scan resolutions and color depth options without any success

    Robintonqld welcome to the forums!
I saw your post about the scanning issue you are having with your Officejet 4630 on Mavericks. I have some ideas that might help!
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the Mac
Re-add the printer (not the AirPrint driver)
    Test scan
Let me know how that works!

  • Can't scan on Officejet 4630 all-in-one

Hi all - help required please.
Recently bought an Officejet 4630 All-in-One Printer and had nothing but trouble setting it up and using it. After several set up attempts, all is just about in order although I still can't scan from the control panel on the machine (I can only scan by going through 'system preferences' under the apple icon).  Every time I try to scan from the machine's control panel (as opposed to going through system preferences), using either the wireless network (Airscan or whatever it is called) or the USB cable, I receive the following message on my laptop screen:
    Task not Available
The "Photo (JPEG)" task found on your device is not available on your system. Please select another task.
The same thing happens if I try to scan to PDF. I am using an old (c.2007 MacBook Pro) that runs of OSX10.9.5 Mavericks. Internet connectivity is not a problem as we have good cable broadband. All I want to do is scan directly from the printer to my computer, preferably using a wireless connection. Please help.
    Thanks

  • Scanning with officejet 4630 wireless to dell windows laptop

How do I retrieve (view) a PDF document scanned on the 4630 wirelessly to my dell windows vista laptop?
I see it show up in itunes but can't access.
    Thanks

    Hi @zebra55,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are wondering how to retrieve/view a PDF that was scanned from your HP Officejet 4630 on Windows Vista. I am happy to help!
In Windows Vista, if you scanned your PDF to the computer, it should be located in the Documents folder. If it was scanned as an image, it will be located in your Pictures folder.
Please see this guide, Scan from Windows Vista With the Full Feature HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers. On how to scan in Windows Vista.
You will need a PDF Viewer such as Adobe Reader to open the file.
Hope this clears things up for you!

  • HP Officejet 4630 will not scan in Windows 10

I need to scan a document and the printer is not recognised either by trying to scan through HP Printer Assistant or by using the menus on the printer.  The error is "The HP Officejet 4630 series was not found"On the printer I get "There is no application registered for this event" in windows 10 and the printer/scanner says "Connection Error".Note, I can print OK. Scanning will not work at all.

    Hello Tride93,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I gather that you are getting an 0X…. error on the front panel of your Officejet 4630 printer.
I have included the ‘Ink System Failure' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error Message Displays on the Front Panel trouble shooting document. Please work through the steps in the document and any additional documents that it requests you to use.
If you run into any issues while doing the above, please let me know at what step you encountered the issue, what any error messages said, how the printer is currently connected (you may have changed it since you posted), and what operating system you are using (whatsmyos.com).  Thank you.

  • HP All in One officejet 4630 not printing

    Hi all,
I bought my officejet 4630 earlier and haven't been able to print anything at all. When I press print it sends it the document to the printer but a few minutes later comes back with an error message. It scans fine and is connected through a USB as a wireless connection is not available in my office.
After uninstalling it and then installing it again it did not pick the printer up on the HP software used to setup the printer however it was picked up by the PC which after attempting to print a document came back with the same error message as before.
    Thanks

    Hey @M1XCE ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to print to your Officejet 4630 printer.
Can you tell me which operating system you are using?
It might also help to try another driver. Changing the driver to the one in my steps below will not remove product functionality:
    Go to Devices and Printers.
Right click on the 4630 printer.
    Select Printer Properties.
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the New driver button.
    Click Next >
Click HP from the list on the left.
Click HP Deskjet 9800 from the list on the right.
    Click Next >
    Click Finish.
Close the Properties window with OK.
    Test the printer.

    Hi,

We are also unable to print PDF documenets as the printer is not being identfied in the drop down menu.
I have run the HP Scan Doctor and it is still stating that it is unable add printer to the network.
    Hoping someone can please help.

    @MVDragons, welcome to the forums!
I read your post about the 0x error code you see on your Officejet 4630. There is a possibility of a Carriage Jam, so please try out the steps in the Carriage Jam guide. If those steps do not help, the issue may be a printer failure or ink system failure, so also see the second guide.
A 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays for HP Officejet 4630 and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4640 e-All-in-O...
'Problem with Printhead,' 'Printer Failure,' 'Ink System Failure,' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error M...
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you, such as a replacement or trade in. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and if you are calling outside of the US/Canada region,: click here.

  • 4630 Scan Failed to complete error - OS X Yosemite

I bought the 4630 about a month  ago and have tried scanning on 3 different Macs running OSX 10.10.1.  The first scan after initial set up works.  After that, I get either "The overview scan failed to complete" if the Details window is open or "The scanner failed to complete the scan" if the Details window is hidden.  I've tried re-installing the 4630 dozens of times.  I just downloaded the last HP software for it.  Please help.

Hello @JohnGillen , and thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I can see you're experiencing scan issues. I'd love to help with that!
    I have a few steps I'd recommend:
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the printer:  HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Good luck and please let me know how it goes!
