Officejet 4630

I am trying to print out the claim code for my insta ink card. I have been printing stuff off all day, and when I followed the instructions online to print out the claim card, i got an error message notifying me that my printer is not connected. It has to be connected or otherwise i would'nt be able to use it? I am connected with the ethernet and usb. I tried to restore defaults, but to no evail. I am really frustrated! please help.

Hi greeneydmom,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you are getting a "not connected" message when trying to enable the web services on your Officejet 4630.
You indicated that the printer is connected by an ethernet cable and a USB cable.  This printer does not support an ethernet connection so it is only "seeing" the USB connection.  For web services to work the printer needs to be connected to your wireless network.  This can be easily done from the front panel of the printer.  The instructions can be found in your User Guide on page 77 in the section titled "To connect the printer".  If you have already installed the printer onto your computer with the USB cable, it's easy to switch the connection type. Please follow the instructions in your User Guide on page 80 in the section titled "To  change from a USB connection to a wireless network".
Once the printer is connected to your wireless network and the USB cable is unplugged you should be able to enable the web services to get your claim code so you can start setting up HP's Instant Ink.  For additional reference I've included several documents for your reference, "Getting the Printer Claim Code" which I suspect you already know how to obtain.  I've also included "Setting Up a Custom Email Address for ePrint" which will walk you through customizing your ePrint email address.
Once you customized the printer's ePrint email address you should be able to enroll in the Instant Ink program.  Beside your printer in the Devices tab you should see "Eligible for HP Instant Ink".  If you click on this it will take you to the Instant Ink enrollment page and you won't need to enter your claim code (you've already used it to add your printer to your HP Connected account).  I've included a screen shot to guide you.
For additional reference I've also included the link to HP's Instant Ink web site.

    Hello,
I have just bought a Mac book Pro and and HP Officejet 4630 printer. I started setting up my printer and since I am in college and using my school's wireless connect. The only way to locate my printer is by changing my wireless connection to the printer name but then I can still not print, and it does not always show up on the settings. I would really like to be able to use my printer.
    Thanks,

    Hi @cn70
In a school environment, I suggest using either a USB connect, or the Wireless Direct. If you use the Wireless Direct, I recommend turning it on 'with security'. use the link below to learn more about Wireless Direct.
What is HP wireless direct? How to connect to HP wireless direct, and How to use the HP wireless dir...
If you continue to experience issues with either of these connection types, let me know and I will happily do all I can to help. Thanks.

  • HP Officejet 4630 all-in-one printer Cancels Print in Middle of Job

    Hi,
I recently bought an HP Officejet 4630 all-in-one printer, and it automatically cancels jobs in the middle of printing. The computer I am using is an HP Envy dv7 with 64-bit Windows 8, and I am printing over a wireless network connection. My computer receives an error that HP Officejet 4630 series couldn't complete print and the printer simply says canceling. I have tried all the steps in the troubleshooting sections, both for printing issues and network connections. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software multiple times, I've established a manual IP, and everything else, but nothing seems to work. It also seems to have the issue when using HP ePrint. It happens in all sorts of programs and formats such as word, pdf, and html. Unfortunately, I did not receive a USB cord, so I can't see if that will fix the problem at all. Hopefully somebody can help me with this, otherwise it's obvious that there's a problem with the actual printer I got and I'm going to have to get something else.
    Thanks
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

This is how I fixed it:
Find out what the IP address is that your printer is using.
Then go to control panel and click on "View Devices and Printers".
Look for your printer an right click.
Click "Printer Properties" and a new screen will open.
Along the top you will see some tabs. Click the one that says "Ports"
    Click "Add Port"
Highlight "Standard TCP/IP Port" by clicking on it, then click "New Port".  A new screen will open.
    Click "Next"
Type in the IP Address of your printer and click "Next"
Your computer should find your printer.
Click "Apply" and your printer should work correctly.

    Hi everybody,
I got a HP Officejet 4630 all-in-one printer, i manadge to connect it to the network. I select a static IP and i can reach the printer through the browser.
I can add the printer to the PC, the system can find it after few second od scannig, and than i can print a test page.
The problem is that if I reboot the PC or the printer, or both, i can' print no more.
The icon of the printer in the "device and printer panel" is blurred with the green thick, but i can still reach the print through the browser and i can print with the ePrint.
If I use the "problem solving" service of Windows, it can't find any problem. But i can't still print.
I don't know what to do, it seems a problem of the computer (i even tryed to turn off the firewall but it doesn't change anything)
Is there someone that could help me?
    Thank you so much

    Hi @poporni,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your HP Officejet 4630 keeps losing the wireless connection on Windows 7. I am happy to look into this connection issue for you!
Please, take a look through this guide, Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Tips for troubleshooting wireless connection issues
The following tips can help you troubleshoot and avoid wireless connectivity issues. You can try these tips separately or in combination to get a successful wireless signal.
Move the printer and the computer closer to the router, but no closer than 6 ft (1.8 m). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router.
If you are experiencing an intermittent wireless connection, try restarting your router. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.
Remove any metal objects between the printer, the computer, and the router. Objects such as refrigerators, microwaves, or metal bookcases can interfere with wireless transmission.
Move any device that emits radio signals, such as microwaves and cordless telephones, farther away from the printer. Such devices can interfere with wireless signals.
I would also recommend, our HP Wireless Printing Center - Troubleshooting Issues website.
Hope this information is helpful, and thank you for posting!

  • HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer Black Ink not Working

My HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One does not print black ink but the color ink is working perfectly fine even though the ink status shows that there is black ink left. After I've changed a new black ink cartridge, it will start to work again but after one day it stop printing black ink again. I've only printed a page the previous day and the ink status shows that there's black ink left in it (close to full). I've tried the methods stated here (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03882718&cc=sg&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5305051) but the black ink still doesn't work. So how can I solve this problem??

    Hello @3oshua,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  I see you are running into some print quality issues on your HP Officejet 4630, you are unable to print in black ink, even after replacing the cartridges.
I see you have exhausted the steps listed here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, with no success.
Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
If you are still unable to print in black ink, I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. I highly recommend you call our technical support at 800-474-6836, to see what options they have available for you. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • Windows XP can't connect to OfficeJet 4630 during installation

Just bought a new OfficeJet 4630 and am very excited to use its wireless features. I got it connected to our in-home wireless router (Netgear) very easily, typing the WEP key right into the printer's keypad. I was subsequently able to install it on my DELL Latitude, from which I can print wirelessly or plugged in to USB, as well as cloud printing and ePrinting. Test pages, alignment pages, etc., all have printed just fine. My wife's acer netbook is another story. She's running Windows XP and has hit a major snag in the installation process. Whether we install the software and drivers from the internet download location specific to the OfficeJet 4630 or with the included CD, it makes it past the step of installing software but encounters an error when it is time to connect to the printer. The software has us choose whether to connect wirelessly, over USB, or later, and following the on screen instructions for either wireless or USB leads to the same error: The computer is unable to connect to the printer at this time.
During installation, when we choose to connect wirelessly and the installation software shows us a list of network printers to choose from, the OfficeJet shows up and we can select it - we can also find it by typing in the IP Address (10.0.0.9) into the Advanced Search bar. We can type the IP address into the web browser and see the printer's EMS and edit various options. We've made sure that my wife's computer is on the Workgroup MSHOME (since I read somewhere that OfficeJets only like to work on that workgroup and not any others). I've followed every other possible instruction given by either HP or these forums (disabling firewalls, startup services, uninstalling and re-installing HP software, etc.) and still, every time, a connection error whether we use Wi-Fi or USB.
We are getting really desparate to use this beautiful machine to its fullest potential - someone please help!

What is the IP address of your modem?  What is the IP address of the router?  With a 10.x.x.x IP tells me you may have a double NAT situation at home.  This basically means your router will change it's IP to 10.x.x.x because it's default IP is the same as the modem. Connect just to your modem and what is the IP?  Now connect JUST your router, no other connection to the modem, and what is it's IP?
You can use a cmd prompt and just type in ipconfig.  What is listed as the Default Gateway for both?

  • Scan resolution of PDF file from HP Officejet 4630

Hi, I'm running Mac OS9.1 and a HP Officejet 4630, and the HP Scan App. Appears to scan correctly, image in the App is good but when I save from the Scan app the PDF image is approx 4 times the size of the A4 page, ie when I open the PDF file only the top left quarter of the scanned page is visible and the text is enlarged and stretched slightly horizontally. I have tried a number of different scan resolutions and color depth options without any success

  • Officejet 4630: Error code 0XB00A7A4E and it's all it does.

Hello, my Officejet 4630  had some problems, yesterday it asked me if I wish to install ne w firmware and I thought this would solve the problems, so I clicked ok.Now it does not do anything anymore. It displays error code  0XB00A7A4E, and beeps all the time. I took out the USB, the power, waited... same thing. The Online forum says that one should open it and take out the cartridges, but when I open it, the cartridges do not come to the middle, to the "removable" area. So it is completely stuck.Any help? Thank you!

Hello , Welcome to the HP Community!I hope you have a pleasant experience here.  I'd like to help you with the 0XB00A7A4E error that you are getting on your HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One printer. Errors such as the one you are experiencing can either be caused by a firmware issue, or a jammed carriage. It can be difficult to tell which. One of the most common fixes for a firmware error is to plug the printer directly into a wall outlet. The printer has a power moderator built in, so if it is plugged into a surge protector or battery backup, it often causes a power fluctuation. This can result in firmware errors similar to what you are experiencing. I'd recommend trying this first. If that doesn't immediately resolve the issue, I'll get you to check the cartridge carriage inside the printer. Is it locked in position? Are you able to move it at all? If you can move it, I recommend uninstalling and re-installing the cartridges. If not, I'd recommend contacting our HP Phone Support for further assistance:Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

  • HP All in One officejet 4630 not printing

    Hi all,
I bought my officejet 4630 earlier and haven't been able to print anything at all. When I press print it sends it the document to the printer but a few minutes later comes back with an error message. It scans fine and is connected through a USB as a wireless connection is not available in my office.
After uninstalling it and then installing it again it did not pick the printer up on the HP software used to setup the printer however it was picked up by the PC which after attempting to print a document came back with the same error message as before.
    Thanks

    Hey @M1XCE ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to print to your Officejet 4630 printer.
Can you tell me which operating system you are using?
It might also help to try another driver. Changing the driver to the one in my steps below will not remove product functionality:
    Go to Devices and Printers.
Right click on the 4630 printer.
    Select Printer Properties.
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the New driver button.
    Click Next >
Click HP from the list on the left.
Click HP Deskjet 9800 from the list on the right.
    Click Next >
    Click Finish.
Close the Properties window with OK.
    Test the printer.

    @MVDragons, welcome to the forums!
I read your post about the 0x error code you see on your Officejet 4630. There is a possibility of a Carriage Jam, so please try out the steps in the Carriage Jam guide. If those steps do not help, the issue may be a printer failure or ink system failure, so also see the second guide.

  • Officejet 4630 Turns on then off again

When i turn on my printer, it seems to go through its usual startup routine. But when it gets to initializing the scanner, the carriage moves slightly and the rapidly "slams" back to it's starting position. My printer immediately powers off and the power button stops working. If I unplug the printer and then plug it back in, I can get the power button to work again, but it just repeats the process.

Hi , I see that you are experiencing issues with the printer's carriage slamming back into the starting position and then the printer turns off. I would like to help you. It sounds like a hardware issue, since the printer is slamming the carriage into the home position. I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. Please try the steps in this document to see if it will help resolve this issue. A 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays for HP Officejet 4630 and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4640 e-All-in-One Printer Series. If the issue continues, please Contact HP Support for further assistance.
