Officejet 4635 "operating system files missing"

I've installed the driver software for the officejet 4635 for windows 8 64 bit, but in setting the printer up it gives me the following error message:
"Operating system files missing
The following operating system files are missing and are required to install your printer. Please repair the files using your operating system CD and click Retry to continue installation:
C:\Windows\inf\ntprint.inf"
I've tried reinstalling the software. The computer seems to recognize the device as a fax, but not as a scanner or printer. Anyone wanna help me out?

Hi @pgreene88 ,
I see that you are getting a operating system error, during the installation of the printer. I can help you with this.

server is not booting to OS mode and showing an error message while trying to boot with c:\ . error message is "operating system is missing"
server has windows 2012 with raid 5 (6hdds) and logical drive is OK. 1st boot controller and boot volumes are set correctly in server bios and raid controller bios. while trying to boot with OS media : does not show repair option. server has critical data
and softwares installed. hence looking for instant help to recover from operating system is missing" scenario

Hi Harsh,
To boot into repair mode, have you check the repair option in the scrrenshot below:
This issue could be caused by:
1.The basic input/output system (BIOS) does not detect the hard disk.
2.The hard disk is damaged.
3.Sector 0 of the physical hard disk drive has an incorrect or malformed master boot record (MBR).
Note Some third-party programs or disk corruption can damage an MBR.
4.An incompatible partition is marked as Active.
5.A partition that contains the MBR is no longer active.
And you can follow these steps to troubleshoot:
Boot into repair mode: repair your computer->troubleshoot->command prompt
1.Run a chkdsk for your main partition (e.g. C:), to do that enter:
chkdsk c: /f/r
2.Bootrec.exe: Repair MBR
/fixmbr
This will create a new Master Boot Record, but will not overwrite your exisiting partition table.
/fixboot
This will add a new boot sector. If you boot sector is damaged you might not be able to start your system.
/rebuildbcd
Scans your disk for Windows server 2012 compatible installations, needed to repair your Windows installation.
3.If you changed the "mark partition as active" option to other partition by mistake, then the error occurred, please try to use the cmd diskpart:
diskpart
     list disk
     select disk 1
     list partition
     select partition 1
     active
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

• Operating system file operation on file c9456ea79110a0.rpt failed.

I have a report that failed this morning with the following error message: Operating system file operation on file c9456ea79110a0.rpt failed.
I don't understand what to do about getting this resolved, I've never seen this error message before.
Thanks

By the way I tried to run a completely different report and I got the same error message.
I also rebooted the server and still get the same error.  I'm still trying to troubleshoot this problem, so if anyone has any ideas about what to try next I'm open to anything.

• "Operating system file operation on file IFile failed" error.

Hi there,
Does someone got a clue about the error "Operating system file operation on file IFile failed" occurring from time to time when scheduling Webi and Deski reports?
This occurs on a cluster environment with 2 servers (BOXI R2 SP2).
Regards,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
-This error is usually associated with the system not being able to access the FRS when
       BOE is trying to read the report.
-Also, could you please check that your document names should not have dot (.)
-It's also possible this could be permissions related could you please monitor the
       system for any 'access denied' results and see if this is related to permissions.

• What is recommended size of System drive to keep operating system files , paging files and Memory Dump of hyper-v host.

Hi ,
I want to setup hyper-v host with 128 GB RAM  , Windows 2012 R2
What is recommended size of System drive  to keep operating system files  , paging files  and Memory Dump?
I tested to using 150 GB  , but when the server is crashed, there is no free space to keep memory dump file.
Ramy

Hi Ramy,
For Server 2012R2 the absolute minimum system drive is 32Gb but this assume you have limited RAM or have your Page file located on another drive. It used to be best practice to setup a small page file but MS PFE now suggest leaving windows to manage
the page file size.
Obviously this is not always possible depending on the amount of RAM in the system, but base the system drive around this or offload the Page file to perhaps another drive. On top of this you also need space for the memory dump to be written, potentially
again up to the size of the RAM. Assuming you fire the machine back up after a crash, you need space for the OS, the Page File plus space for the associated dump file.
There is a nice little article here that maybe of assistance:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13383.best-practices-for-page-file-and-minimum-drive-size-for-os-partition-on-windows-servers.aspx
Kind Regards

• How Forms can execute operating system files

How can we create a button which when pressed can execute an exe file from the operating system....
Please help me soon

That's very simple.
Check the host built-in.
You may have something like the following:
PROCEDURE run_rep (x_file in varchar2) IS
-- runs a report not using run_product
-- thus not opening reports background engine
cmdstr varchar2(200);
the_username varchar2(20);
the_password varchar2(20);
the_connect varchar2(20);
pl_id paramlist;
begin
the_username := Get_Application_Property(USERNAME);
the_password := Get_Application_Property(PASSWORD);
the_connect := Get_Application_Property(CONNECT_STRING);
cmdstr:='R30RUN32.EXE module='
replace(x_file, '.rep', '')| |'.rep userid='
the_username| |'/'| |the_password| |'@'| |the_connect| |' usesdi=yes';
host (cmdstr);
END;
This is something that really works.
In like manner you may run any OS command.
If you wish the command not to display anything on screen, just do:
host(cmdstr, no_screen);
RTM first.
Best of luck,
BD

• HT4999 I have a new phone and a new computer.  Where can I find the downloads for the latest operating system files.  thanks

I have a new I phone and a new computer.  I don't know where to get the download files for the lates operating system.

To update iOS on an iPhone not running iOS 5 or later, connect the iPhone to iTunes and under the Summary tab for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, select Update. If there is an update avaiable, you should be prompted automatically.
If the iPhone is running iOS 5 or later, the same applies along with another option which can be done direct with the iPhone.
Would you like a link to the iPhone user guide where this is covered? Apple also includes a Safari bookmark with Safari on an iOS device for easy access to the user guide on the device.

• I5/OS - Operating system file details

I have to set the file systems of i5/OS and DB2 for SAP installation. I expect your vaulable guidance to set up file system for i5/OS( OS file system) like what we do for linux & windows (os,translog & datafile)

Hi,
have gone through some documents of i5/OS .In that they mentioned Journal receiver files should be on a separate ASP (ASP2) and data ,exe & etc on ASP1 (system ASP)
yes that's right in case of production server.In the case of a loss of data in the ASP of the database libraries, this ensures that you can recover the data using the journal receivers in the separate ASP
in you case you used three ASP's one for OS, one for journal, and other for DATA.
also read  Note 654801 - iSeries: ASP configuration of the database for ABAP and Java so you get some idea.
and also read the relevant installation document.
you can also go with two ASP for production system.
following part is form IBM red book
The availability of the journal receivers is improved when stored into a separate ASP. It is
more likely to lose two disks in a large RAID-5 array for the application data rather than in a
small separate ASP for the journal receiver. In a mirrored disk implementation, both related
disks must fail in order for a commit control function to be lost.
The use of a separate ASP is a relatively expensive feature. Disk space must be separated
into parts. The advantage of the evenly distributed data over all disks is lost. When you divide
the disks for the application data and journaling, consider a separate ASP for the journal
receiver and also the following factors:
      The size of the disk drives
      The number of disks and number of disk arms for performance reasons
      The type of data protection required (RAID-1, RAID-5, RAID-6)
      The location to place the disks (system unit, expansion unit, external disks)
      The type of controller
The primary reason to implement journal receivers in a separate ASP is to help guarantee the
availability of the journal receiver. Other recommendations are:
      There is no need to set up a separate ASP2 for the journal receiver if you have a high
availability (HA) solution for your production database.
      Only one separate ASP2 is required for all journal receivers of the different databases if
you have multiple production SAP systems on one machine or one LPAR setup.
It is not advisable to install one separate ASP for each production SAP system. Therefore,
you do not have ASP2, ASP3, and so on, on one server or in one logical partition.
For customizing, test, and quality assurance, and other non-productive SAP systems, you
do not need a separate ASP for the journal receiver. Implement all journal receivers of all
non-productive SAP systems on one machine or logical partition in the system ASP.

• Operating System missing NetCrawler

I ran McAfee Tech Check showed Operation System is missing NetCrawler.   HP Pavilion a465c desktop w/ win XP It also showed: Hardware and Divices missing  Deivice Auto Dectect  (computer not recognize external drive)

NetCrawler is part of  Windows XP. You may be missing some updates. It is unfortunate, but Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft. It is a legacy OS.
If your Windows XP OS does not recognize an external drive, then you may need to run the sfc command to ensure all system files are up to date and not corrupt. You will need a Windows XP CD  that has SP2 or SP3 which will be the source of the clean files that the SFC command will use to replace corrupted or missing files that it  finds.  You can also try reinstalling the USB driver for your desktop PC from the HP web support driver and application download section.

• Using the Dvd recovery disks results in "operating system not found"

I recently bought the DVD recovery disks for Windows 8 from HP. After following the procedure using the 3 recovery disks plus the supplemental "Application and Driver recovery" disk. Immediately after installing the supplemental disk I receive a message that says "contact HP support and "in most cases recovering the hard drive will fix the problem".
When I try to reboot another message appears saying "the operating system is missing". I repeated the procedure several times (also skipping the supplemental disk) and the message is the same.

Hi:
I can't help you with that problem but if you want to try making your own plain W8 installation media, you can use this file and it should work with the embedded product key in your notebook's BIOS.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?pli=1
Then use this tool to transfer the file to a 4 GB USB flash drive or DVD.
The tool will also make the media bootable.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool
Then go to the g6z-2200 download page and get the drivers and available software you need.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5328122
You will also need to install the AMD Chipset Drivers from the link below.
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%208%20-%2064
If it works, see if you can get your money refunded from HP for the disks.

• I completely erased the operating system on an old macbook pro. Nothing is left, not even the base system. What to do?

This was stupid, I know. I didn't mean to do it that way, but the laptop (Macbook Pro intel core2duo 15 in) would freeze, was slow to load, and wouldn't let me partition the drive. I kept getting : unable to unmount when partitioning, or some other partition error. I didn't have much on it, so I know that the harddrive wasn't full or anything. I just had it fixed a few months back to boot with a whole new harddrive and motherboard.
I'm getting these same issues on my newer macbook pro come to think of it. this has all started happening to both laptops this month, only the older macbook pro was running snow leopard and the newer one is running mavericks. Nothing else other than my apple id is in common. i was able to erase macintosh HD and reintall mavericks safely without an issue on the newer laptop, but when i tried doing the very same with the older one, the entire operating system went missing.
Anyway, back to the old laptop. I tried loading linux mint onto it just to get it operational. I read on these boards to use rEFIt to load it. The laptop now has rEFIt when it loads, but it won't install anything or run anything else. Not linux mint, not ubuntu. Nothing.
I do not have any of the original disks. I know i can order them from apple, but I don't want to do that if it isn't going to load it anyway.
So i guess my question now is can I get this thing working again without having to take it to a repair shop for hundreds more? I'm trying to save money and have an extra computer for all of us to share. I'm working on my masters myself and the kids' schools are all about macbooks lately.
Please be gentle with me, I'm only trying to get answers and not insults.
Thank you,
N.

If you're wanting to put Snow Leopard back on your old laptop and you don't have the original DVDs, you should call Apple Support (800-MY-APPLE   USA) and order the version of SL that came with your MBP. You'll be charged a small fee.

• Help - How do I upgrade the operating system

I havea  pearl and never done anything with apps.  One app I want says I need OS 4.5 as minimum.  How can I do this?  What is approx cost?  If it si my company's phone and htey have it on enterprise, can it still be done?

1. No cost, it's free.
2. If you are on a corporate BES account, as your BES or IT Admin first. You will need a new activation password after the upgrade to get back on the network.
3. Do a complete backup first, of your device, using Desktop Manager > Backup, first.
4. Do you have a Pearl 8100?

• Only cloning the operating system.

I've created clones of my hard drives before, using carbon copy cloner. but are there any utilities that clone only the essential files and folders that are needed to boot? Or do i have to install from an installation CD to do that. Completely cloning a system takes a long time and I'd like to find out a way to clone just the operating system and the necessary files for it to work.

Hmm. The SuperDuper! documentation says:
Backup – user files is similar, but it does not create a bootable backup.
Instead, it only backs up user specific files in the Home directories of the
various accounts on your system (as well as the special iSync files that are
stored elsewhere in Panther). This type of backup is not bootable, since it
doesn’t contain operating system files, but is useful for storing copies of your
personal data. It’s much harder to recover from a disaster if you’ve only got
your personal files backed up.
Is there any kind of program or option where it only copies operating system files, as i want to cut down on the time needed to create a clone. I usually keep my files somewhere else so if i have a bootable drive, I can copy the files from another drive. Unless SuperDuper! does a much quicker job of it than CCC. It took CCC around 4 hours to completely copy my drive, which had around 140GB on it. Maybe the huge amount of space taken up might've contributed to the relatively slow processing.
