Officejet 6000 cleaning printheads

My printer stopped printing in Black with a new ink tank.  I tried printing a test page but it comes out plank except for the few spots of color.  I thought maybe I need to clean my printheads but can't find out how to do it

Please see the document link provided here for information about how to perform a printhead cleaning in a Officejet 6000.
There is also a document for steps to help fix print quality issues located here.
Hope this helps.

  • Officejet 6000 printhead

We recently had to change the color cartridges on our HP Officejet 6000, and afterwards, we started getting the error code on the control panel that is for "The printhead is incompatible" - power button is blinking and all the cartridge buttons are blinking in order from left to right.   The manual troubleshooting says to be sure it is properly installed or to replace the printhead.   The printer is not very old.  I am having my business office research when we bought it.  Is it normal for a printhead to go bad so quickly?  We've only used it for normal printing purposes and only use HP ink products with the printer.
Also, if the printhead needs replaced, I couldn't find anything in the manual on how to change the printhead.  Can anyone give me instructions on this as well?  Thank you very much for your assistance..

    Hi folks
For the Incompatible Printhead message, have you tried cleaning the printhead?

  • Problem with HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: cleans printheads every time it's turned on

    Hello everybody,
the printer HP Officejet Pro all-in-one 8500 (A909a - product n. CB022A) cleans printheads every time I turn it on. This problem affects any HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer, it isn't a problem only of that one I purchased. It is an annoying and irritating bug because the printheads cleaning at each power on implies two bad disadvantages:
    ink waste (each printheads cleaning process consumes some ink);
too much time (2-3 minutes) to get the printer ready after power on.
I upgraded my printer with the last firmware available on the HP site (firmware ver. DLM1FN1006BR) but the bug is still present.
    At this point I ask:
there exists a way (or procedure) to disable this unnecessary automatic cleaning at every power on?
Can someone contact HP engineers or tell me how contact directly one of them to indicate the bug and ask a new firmware update?
Please don't tell me to leave the printer turned on all the time or that the printheads cleaning at every power on is a normal behavior! Where is then power and ink saving claimed for this printer model?
I hope to receive a solution for this problem. Thanks in advance to everybody will help me!

The servicing when the printer is turned on is normal and is required to keep the printheads healthy (not clogged). See here for information.
As for power savings, the printer will automatically go into a low power mode when not printing for some time.  It is not necessary to turn the product off and on to save power.

  • Re: Problem with HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: cleans printheads every time it's turned on

I own two of these printers and they both have been cleaning printheads every time it's turned on. My old HP officejet never had  these problems.
The real problem is HP s   credibility . They promoted that these printers used half the ink as any other printer.  Even consumerreports showed 1/2  the cost per page.
As we all know that is pure BS  notwithstanding  the cleaning printheads issues.
Maybe I will let Costco know that I and all owners are unhappy and see if they will refund. They still sell them .
I will repost if I have any success.

If the printer is a year or couple yrs old, maybe the printheads need to be replaced? I once thought they would last forever, and that's really not the case with them, nor anything else really. Hope costco has some good news for you

  • Officejet 6000: "Printhead: Missing or Damaged"

I have a new Officejet 6000 that works fine, but occasionally reports "Printhead: Missing or Damaged". When this happens, I just open the lid and close it again and it seems to work fine again. What could cause this? Is it a serious problem? Thanks.

  • HP Officejet 6000 pages go in but blank page comes out

I posted this problem last week, but still have not resolved it.  Approx 2 weeks ago the printer was used with a new black cartridge installed everything worked fine.  A few days later I needed to print out some forms and all that spit out of the printer was blank pages. I purchased a new black cartridge and installed it even though I had only about 50 pages on my other black cartridge.  I have tried unpluging printer, taking out cartridges, and printhead and then reinstalling everything and plugging in printer again.  I've tried cleaning the printhead also.   I'm at a lost and I really need to get some forms printed out today.
    PLEASE HELP ME TODAY!!!

    Hi jac49,
I understand you have an Officejet 6000 that is pulling in the pages, but doesn't seem to be putting any ink on the pages. I'm sorry to hear this and will certainly do my best to assist you!
I would suggest that you start by following this Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues document and if at the end it's still not printing the black ink, I would suggest that you try manually cleaning your printhead.
If that still doesn't resolve the issue, the last option would be to follow Bob_Headrick's suggestion of soaking your printhead.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • HOW TO FIND OUT HOW TO CLEAN PRINTHEADS

HP OFFICE JET 4620.....   HOW DO I FIND WHERE & HOW TO CLEAN THE PRINT HEADS, DEEP CLEANING, ETC?

    Hello @Musiclady1,
I would like to assist you today with cleaning the Printheads on your HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
    How to Clean the Printheads:
Load plain, white U.S. letter or A4 size paper in the input tray.
On the printer control panel, press the Setup icon ().
Press the button () next to the Down Arrow () until Tools displays next to OK.
Press the button next to OK to select Tools, and then press the button next to the Down Arrow () until Clean Printhead displays next to OK.
Press the button next to OK to clean the printheads. The printer cleans the printheads and then prints a test page.
Evaluate the test page for print quality.
    - Source
If the print quality is still not satisfactory, you can run another Printhead cleaning. You may need to run up to three Printhead cleans to resolve a quality issue. Because ink is used during the cleaning process, if three cleans has not resolved the issue I would not proceed with additional cleans as you would just be wasting ink.
Please let me know if these steps resolve your issue. Best of luck!

  • Cant get my Officejet 6000 working

I recieved an Officejet 6000 for graduation. It was brand new never opened. I set it up just as I moved into college. When I turn it on, it runs a few seconds, I can hear the printhead slide, click, and then everything stops. The power button and the first button blink. Nothing happens. According to the directions, it should print out an auto-alignment page. What is wrong with my printer and what can I do to fix it?

There are a few threads about this. I had the same problem and it eventually worked. I can't tell you if anything I did was the solution, or it was just a matter of time.
    1. Start with a new Yahoo account. I've read that some older accounts could not get made to work.
    2. Setup your account on the phone with WiFi off ... while on the edge network. (also on some forum)
    3. Every time it didn't work, I deleted the account from the phone and put it in again.
I did it easily 15 times before it actually worked. So just keep at it. Once your password is accepted, the rest might sort itself out.

  • Officejet Pro L7780 printhead error

I have an Officejet Pro L7780 All-in-One. Recently it does not work due to a printhead error (M/C printhead missing or damaged). Please help.  Many thanks.

    Hi,
Use the following link to perform the troubleshooting steps.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01446637&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=2512010&tmp...
If you still recieve the error message after performing the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the document, then try the printhead cleaning from the printer menu.
    Setup Menu--Tools--Clean Printhead
    Setup Menu--Tools--Align Printer.
If none of these help then try this reset....this reset will restore the printer to its original factory settings & will erase all settings on the printer.
Unplug the power chord from the back of the printer while the printer is still ON.
Now press and hold "# & 9" keys on the printer, and connect the power chord while holding down the 2 keys. Wait for approx. 10 seconds and then release the keys.
If the printer powers off automatically, then wait for 10secs. and then turn ON the printer using the Power button on the printer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Setting up my macbook pro to hp officejet 6000 wireless printer

Having trouble getting my macbook pro (new) to print from printer.    Have USB plugged to printer and the wireless modem (no desktop setup).  Was able to intially print then it started showing printer not connected.   If I plug USB to the macbook vs. the wireless cable modem, I can print.
I do get an ip address.
    Thank you.
    CEBD

    Hi CEBD,
Thank you for your reply! As Mac OS X 10.10 was just released yesterday, there is currently no HP Software and Drivers for this Operating System! However, if your HP Officejet 6000 was previously connected to your network, all you should have to do is to add the printer as a wireless printer. Please see this guide, OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer. You can also watch this youtube video, Installing an HP Printer in Mac OS X Mavericks Using a Wired or Wireless Network Connection.
Please see this post, Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite and HP Printer Support, by @Double-U-Dee.
I would also take a look at this guide, 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Mac OS X, and follow the steps for 10.8 and 10.9.

  • Officejet Pro L7780 Printhead Problem

My printer is 2.5 years old and has light home use.  The printheads started failing...I had to run "clean printheads" before attempting to print anything.  HP Solutions said "Printheads OK."  Still, the printer was unusable.
I bought 2 new printheads, cleaned the printhead contacts in the printer, installed the printheads.  Now the printer won't do anything and HP Solutions says printhead health is "bad," and the display window on the printer says both printheads have a problem.
I re-inserted the old printheads and the "problem" messages disappeared, HP Solutions says printhead health is "good," but the printer won't print.
I've done every solution suggested on user forums.
I've done a full factory reset and flashed new firmware.  No help.  Anyone had a similar problem and been able to solve it?
    Thanks.

Sorry you're having trouble with your L7780. HP doesn't recommend routinely cleaning the electrical contacts before you install new printheads. I'm worried that you might have transfered some ink onto the contacts, since your problem changed from a print quality problem to a error message. I would suggest that you try cleaning the electrical contacts one more time. Try the instructions in this document: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01628836&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc... - make sure you let everything dry completely before you reinstall the printheads.

Running on OSx 10.6.8 using a new HP Officejet 6000 printer. How can I get to within 1/8" on all sides of an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. Images and copy cuts off at 5/8" at bottom. HP says it's a mac problem, not an HP problem. I tried every combination of print settings. Nothing has solved the problem. Have I missed something?

Yes you are unfortunately you as the consumer are caught in the middle. I totally disagree with what HP told you, they supply the print drivers to Apple, Apple doesn't write printer drivers that I know of. Look in the print settings to see if you can go below 5/8", I know I can with my HP printers (Laserjet 1012, Color Laserjet 2600N, OfficeJet 7410 & OfficeJet 7700 series) so I'm sure the issue is specific to the OJ6000 series.

  • Cannot print wirelessly from Windows 7 (64 bit) laptop to Officejet 6000 Wireless (E609n)

The printer is a HP Officejet 6000 Wireless (E609n) and is connected via usb to a Windows 7 (64 bit) desktop and the laptop has Windows 7 (64 bit) loaded.
No changes were made that I'm aware of other than the usual Windows updates.
Server is offline is displayed next to the printer icon on the laptop when printing is attempted.
The wireless network test report shows no problems.
I have rebooted the desktop and printer with no success.
The laptop used to print wirelessly without a problem.

I am not sure the Officejet 6000 can have both the wireless and USB ports active at the same time.  You could try disconnecting for the USB cable and then power cycling the printer and trying to connect wirelessly.  If you have the desktop connected to a router that also provices wireless capability you could connect the desktop with the network connection.
One other thing you might consider is sharing the printer on your network from the desktop computer.  Next on the laptop computer do the following: go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a Port, Local Port, \\Computername\Printername (use the actual share name for the computer and printer), OK, then select HP (not Hewlett-Packard) for the manufacturer and select the appropriate HP Officejet 6000 series model.
