Officejet 6500 - reboot and it prints last print job over

I have an Officejet 6500 running wirelessly on a home network.  Laptops running Vista or Windows 7 and desktop running Windows 7.  When any of the computers reboots, it causes the last print job to print out on the printer.
Thoughts?

Is your printer still in warranty? You can check with HP's warranty tool here.  Are you located in the US?

  • OfficeJet 6500 709n and MicroSoft Office 2010 duplex print problem

I have an OfficeJet 6500 709n and was able to automatically duplex print with Windows 2003 no problems.  I upgraded to Windows 2010 and now it won't see the automatic duplex printing.   I can only select single page printing and manual duplex printing.  Any ideas what I need to correct????  HELP PLEASE!!

    Hello,
Make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled:
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
    Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.
Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

  • IMac OSX 10.6.8 will not detect HP Officejet 6500 E709n series wireless printer

I had my iMac OS 10.6.8 unplugged for a week and just hooked it back up today and for some reason HP Officejet 6500 E709n Series wireless printer cannot be detected. I have tried everything... AppleCare could not help... they said to install the HP software off HP's site... I did but my computer will not recognize the printer in default printers. I have tried talking to HP Support and they mentioned something about DDS corruption but do not want to pay $99 for that to most likely not be the reason. I have tried calling Verizon because AppleCare said it was a network issue and then Verizon said it was a software issue.
I even tried re-installing the printer with the USB cord plugged in the back so it could at least recognize the software, but once the printer was put back in the other room, it stopped working. It now says:
    Looking for printer...
    Canceling job
    Printer offline.
There is also a yellow circle with a wavy line in the middle.
This has never happened before. When I first hooked this machine up, it just picked up the printer and there were no issues.
Sorry this is a little wordy but I am out of options on how to fix this... please help.
    Thank you.

  • HP officejet 6500 wireless suddenly stopped printing black ink.

HP Officejet 6500 wireless has stopped printing black ink.  Followed all troubleshooting steps to no avail. Prints colors but black is either very faint or not present

    Welcome to the forums Irgoodspeed
I saw your post about your Oj 6500 Wireless no longer printing in black ink. I noticed you have already changed the cartridge which did not help.
I would recommend following this troubleshooting guide:
Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions: click here.

  • I have an officejet 6500 wireless, doesn't print fonts from quickbooks after moved to new house...

I have an officejet 6500 wireless and it worked just fine - used it for pronting from Quickbooks.  Moved to new house. Because of new router had to reinstall via install CD.  Install worked fine.  When printing checks from Quickbooks I now get a message that says the the printer does not support the font being requested - it used to...what's up with this?

Does this only happen when printing from Quickbooks? Have you tried adjusting the settings in QB's? The meesage you are receiving is saying that the font that QB's is wanting to use is not supported by the printer.
I've included a link to the Hp website that has some updates available for this printer that might help as well.

  • Officejet Pro 6835 self-cancels print jobs with more than 3 copies

I am printing 5x7 invitations for a business.  No matter how many copies I request, y brand new HP Officejet Pro 6835 will self-cancel the print job after 3 invitations have printed.  So if I have 30 invites to print, I have to print them in batches of 3.  Tonight I had 150 invites to print - so it is a long envening.  The error displayed on my HP ENVY laptop is that there is an error and can't print (not informative).  The error on the HP printer is that the print job has been cancelled.
The other issue is that I am forced to print the 5x7 invites in landscape mode which is very slow.  Portrait mode would go much faster but for some reason the handshake between Word and the printer will not allow this to happen.  I've tried to custom configure the page set up to be 7x5, but Word will not save the custom configuraiton.
    Please help!

    Hi-
Thank you for the suggestion but unfortuneately the hotfix did not solve the problem.  I am now getting between 2.5 to 3 copies.  Do you have any other thoughts?  I did install the hotfix on c:/ which was the default - was there another directory I should have chosen?
As a side note, I am trying to print a batch right now and am trying to seperate the job into copies of 2.  Even this is not working.  About every very other card, I am getting a partially printed card and the print job cancels.  In a batch of 19 (10 print jobs of 2), I have 11 ruined cards because they have partially printed before the job self-cancels.  Very expensive to have a 60% ruin rate.
Also, I would really like to be able to print in portrait rather than landscape mode.  I am estimating that printing in landscape mode takes more than 4.5 x (23 seconds) than portrait mode (5 seconds) - when printing 150 copies this results in a job being over an hour vs. closer to 15 minutes which is best case since I have to constantly restart the job.  I also suspect that landscpae mode is far less efficient in its use of ink than portrait mode.  Any help would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Officejet 6500 - suddenly won't print black ink

I have an OfficeJet 6500.  It used to work just fine, but all of a sudden, the black ink is not working.  I checked that there was ink in the cartridge (there was), and I even replaced the cartridge with a new one.  I did a print test page, and the colors are working, but no black ink.  I tried rebooting, reinstalling drivers, plugging directly into wall outlet, but still no luck.  Sometimes, I can see very faint black ink on  the page, but it is definitely unusable like this.  Anyone have any ideas on what to do?
I am on Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit.  There weren't any changes made to the computer right before this problem started.

You need to get a new printhead

  • HP Officejet 6500 (E709n) wireless mobile printing issues using Wi-Fi...

I have an HP Officejet 6500 (E709n series) that I can no longer print from my Android based device. I have the latest drivers installed on my Win-7 64 bit Premium edition and have flashed the most current firmware available on HP's site. There was a time not long ago where I downloaded and installed an HP app from the Android Market which allowed my mobile device to print to my wi-fi enabled and configured HP 6500. My phone crashed so I had to re-download and install apps. It seems HP ePrint Home&Biz app is the only option here and from what I've read, this app is not compatible with hP ePrint. Am I missing something or is this completely lame to discontinue support for a printer hardly a year old?
    This question was solved.

    Hello JayyTeee,
I do apologize for the issue you are having.
It sounds as though you are printing wirelessly from your Android phone on the same network as the printer.
This is actually different from ePrint.
The Home & Biz app is designed primarily to print on the same wireless network.
If the app is not finding the printer, I would make sure the phone and printer are on the same network.
If they are on the same network, then I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the Home & Biz app from the Android Market.

  • OfficeJet 6500 E709N Series ~ Cannot Print Wirelessly....

    TRIED EVERYTHING~
Here it goes: We have a Mac running OSx 10.5.7 and PC with Windows XP, and A Laptop with windows XP. Our Wireless Router is a Lnksis 3-G wireless.
I purchased the HPOJ-6500-e709n yesterday and have setting it up all night.  Tried this on the mac.
At first how I had everything connected.Ethernet Cable to the router, and usb to the printer. Set up went through all phases including fax. Was able to print fine. I was never prompted to disconnect the cables but directions included state you must test the wireless connection. I did and the printer did nothing. I reconnected the ethernet cable and was able to print what was in the que. However not wirelessly as I tried this several times.
Directions lead me to test firewall rules and check them. I added rules for UDP and TCP to allow all coming from the URL given in the network config page I printed from the printer. I also added the mac address to the list of allowed attached devices as I added access control as well. I tested this several times and also added the printer using the url. After I had done all this allowing all ports to connect it was able to allow me to view supply levels for ink and even print diagnostic reports wirelessly through the printer manager but cannot print documents.... WEIRD.
I loaded it each time with the correct driver and did all I can to allow it on all ports. The only thing that I can think of at this juncture is that we have a house system that apparently is running on here that I do not administrate. It really has nothing to do with it but I changed the URLs to start managing at 0.100+ as the rep wanted 1-100 to be used by there system so we are running it at 192.168. 0.101...
    What should I do?

OK, there may be something else going on, but try this:
Remove the Ethernet and USB cables
Make sure the radio is on (may not hurt to reboot the router and printer, too)
Delete and add the printer under the Default tab - the one marked with Bonjour
Reboot the computer and try to print.

  • Officejet 6500 E709 Double-sided printing to Mac OS 10.9.2

I am switching from a Windows PC to the MAC, and I no longer have an option to print double-sided listed in my print menu.  I am using driver version 4.1.2.  Is there a different driver or another way to get the ability to print double-sided on the Mac?  Thank you very much for any help!!

After reading other questions, I thought I should expand on my question above.  My Officejet 6500 is not a duplex printer.  My Windows print driver/interface had a two-sided print option that allowed one to print the odd pages first and then prompted me on how to orient the pages and reinsert them into the printer for printing of the even pages.  On my Mac, I do not have such a software option to enable one to print two-sided in two printer passes.  Thanks for any help!

  • Officejet 6500 e709n - slow wireless print & garbage then Bonjour works perfect - fix please!

Hello all!  My wife recently purchased a Officejet 6500 e709n so we could finally have a wifeless printer in the house. Well, we set it up fine but we quickly ran into some printing issues. It seems that when we try to wirelessly print any file larger than 300k, the data transfer hangs and causes a long wait time until the printing finishes (if it finishes). Also this causes garbled printing.
Try as I might I could not find a fix anywhere. I tried reinstalling / updating / resetting my firewall and anti-virus and nothing.
Tonight I installed Bonjour and OMG it works - no issues at all. This leads me to think that the issue is in the HP driver or settings or something. Now my question is, how do I get the regular driver to work?!
She runs a Gateway Netbook (windows 7 Starter) and I run an Dell Studio 1747 (windows 7 home premium 64)
Install went clean on both machines

This may be a router issue.  What brand/model router?

  • Officejet 6500 black ink stopped printing

Last night my printer worked fine, today it won't print black ink. I have changed all of the cartridges, cleaned the vent holes, completed the alignment process and head cleaning procedures. I have checked all of my print settings and they seem correct. My printer will print all colors except pure black. The odd thing is when I did the alignment and head cleaning procedure it printed out the ink levels (only the ink levels), and it printed the black rectangle for each color but the black color was empty. I know the black color is working as I can get all mixed colors to print, just not the pure black even when I check grayscale only.  If I select a black color with 50% grade I get what looks like a watermark. HP suggests I purchase a new print head but I don't see how this will make any difference. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hello Billie2,
Thanks for the post.  Are you using HP supplies?  Is this latest cartridge a re-fill?  You are doing great t-shooting, and I think you've isolated it down to the printer hardware/cartridge.  Do you get any error messages?  Check some of the steps below in the link, can you run an alignment page?  Does black print on that?  Let us know and we can go from there, the print head may have failed.  Good Luck!

  • Re: HP Officejet 6500 Wireless will not print with black ink

My black ink cartridge was not working and I came across this site. Thank you Pokerchip your method worked fine I was about to buy a new printer till I came across your blog, I placed all the cartridges in plastic bags and  I washed the printer head first in metholated spirits then rinsed it well under the tap till the water ran clear, I placed the printerhead ouside in the warm night air overnight and in the morning put it back in my printer when it was thoroughly dry at first the printer message read no printhead installed so I press the ok button and the printer when through a process and finally printed a test page it was absolutely perfect, you saved me heaps of money very grateful for your help and I hope this helps others as well. Check out Pokerchip's blog on this site

I am glad things worked out for you, but there are two parts I would NOT recommend:  first, do not use metholated spirits as this can cause the printhead to delaminate requiring printhead replacement.  Secondly, I would not recommend leaving the printhead out of the printer overnight as this can allow the printhead to dry out and/or introduce air into the printhead.
The post here has my recommendations for cleaning the printhead, this has worked for many people.
