Officejet 6500 wireless network port

I just got a new firewall program and now it blocks access to the printer. I remember back when I installed it I had a different firewall that did the same thing, and the install wizard told me to unblock a certain port. Now I can't find which port number that is! If you know which port the printer uses, please reply!
Thanks!

These are the ports that you need to unblock in order for your printer to work:
UDP 427 inbound
TCP 139 outbound
UDP 427 outbound
TCP 9220 outbound
UDP 161 outbound
TCP 9500 outbound
UDP 139 outbound
TCP 9290 outbound
And these are the softwares that should be added to the exceptions list of your firewall:
Open the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory, and then locate the following files:
hpoews01.exe
hpofxm08.exe
hposid01.exe
hpqkygrp.exe
hpqste08.exe
hpqtra08.exe
hposfx08.exe
hpiscnapp.exe (for HP software v10.0 or later)
OR
hpqscnvw.exe (for HP software v9.0 or earlier)
Open the C:\windows\system32 directory, and then locate the following files:
hpzwiz01.exe
hpznui01.exe

  • Can "HP Officejet 6500 Wireless" connect in dual mode?

    Hello,
I have just purchased "Officejet 6500 Wireless" printer, and have installed with USB to my desktop computer.
My desktop does not have a wireless connection, it is hardwired to my wireless router port.
My other laptops are connected wireless to the same router.
Can I connect my other laptops (wireless) to the printer, while the printer is connected to the desktop via USB?
In other words, can it print from the desktop computer, and at the same time print from a laptop wireless?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes you can, but there is no reason to do so.
Your wireless router (like all of them) treats all its clients equally, whether they are connected by Ethernet wire or wirelessly. Furthermore, all clients can communicate with each other regardless of how they are connected.
I recommend that you connect your printer to your router with a wired connection if you can (its easier and more reliable) and if you cannot because it is not near the router, connect it wirelessly.   Then you can disconnect the USB to your desktop and all computers on the network can use it.

  • Officejet 6500 Wireless -- Error status

I have a one-month-old Officejet 6500 wireless printer.  It was successfully installed wirelessly and working well.  But... I've upgraded my router to an N-router, and now cannot get the wireless printing to work.
-- running Windows Vista on my laptop computer, and computer shows 6500 printer in "error" status
-- Printer sees my wireless network, and the Wireless Network Test Report shows no warnings or problems.
-- Troubleshooting menu on the printer screen tells me "There is no computer connection".
    Any tips???

First, did you keep the same SSID and password type and key from your old router?  If not, you will have to tell the printer about the new setup.
Second, does your new router operate in both 802.11n AND 802.11g mode?  If not, you will have to turn on 'g' mode somehow (usually a dual g/n mode is available) because the printer only has a 'g' radio.
If all above is OK, you may have to re-install the printer manually:
Verify that you can browse to the printer's internal web page by its IP address.
    1. Click "Start" button --> Printers.
    2. Under Printer Tasks, click "Add Printer".
    3. Click "Next" button on the Add Printer Wizard window.
    4. Select "Local printer attached to this computer". Deselect "Automatically detect and install My Plug and play printer". Click "Next".
    5. Under Select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next" button.
    6. In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port wizard" make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to same network that your computer is connected to. Click "Next" button.
    7. Under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the printer's IP address. Click "Next" then click "Finish".
    8. Now, select HP from the list of manufacturers, select your printer from the list of Printer models and click 'Next' button.
    9. If you can't find your printer, you'll need to find the install CD and use the "Have Disk" option to select one of the hp*.ini files. Alternatively, you can select another HP printer model from the same type.
    10. Add the print spooler name and click "Next".
    11. Click "Next"
    12. Click "Next" and then "Finish"
There are more things that could be wrong, but lets start here.

  • How can I print to my HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless Printer from my iPhone 4S which used to work before AirPrint printers were even available? (running Mac Lion OS, all software and HP sw updates are all performed)

How can I print to my HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless Printer from my iPhone 4S which used to work (on prior iPhones) before AirPrint printers were even available? (running Mac Lion OS, all software and HP sw updates are all performed)
I don't get it, I read one post about why would we have to buy an AirPrint Printer when we have used the "print to a wifi printer" just fine in the past?  Yes I feel that's exactly what's happening to me now too. I want to print from my iPhone and iPad to my WiFi Printer which is also now connected to my Airport Express WiFi network just fine. No problems.

Very glad you added that bit of information because I see different problems similar to this.  I want to share with them what you did and hopefully you not only fixed your specific problem but you can lend some more advice to others with problems like this. Thanks!

  • Using HP Officejet 6110 and Officejet 6500 wireless issues

I have been using an HP Offciejet 6110 printer for a long time with an HP laptop running WINXP. I purchased a new HP laptop running WIN7.  The WIN7 laptop will print to the 6110 in color only and doesn't allow the HP Imagimg Director software to work.
I recently purchased a new HP Officejet 6500 wireless printer and set that up to run off the HP laptop with WIN7 using the full software install.  That seems to be working OK.
I then setup theold  XP laptop using only the drivers for the Officejet 6500 so I could still use the Officejet 6110 from that computer and all the scanning and other features of the HP Imageing Director software.   But it appears that the Officejet 6500 drivers have scewed up the Officejet 6110 software drivers on the XP laptop. How do I get this computer back to using the 6110 as normal (which was very useful) but be able to use the 6500 as an optional printer without all the 6500 features?

    Hi dresdenron,
Thanks for clarifying the issue again. I was a bit confused.
How is the Officejet 6500 and Officejet 6110 setup on the Windows XP? (USB, Wireless)
Both models use completely different software. So there shouldn't be any interference even if the full software had been installed for the Officejet 6500. If both printers are connected by a USB cable, then the Officejet 6500 might have taken over the port and therefore causing the scan not to work.
What happens when you try to scan? (error message)
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the Officejet 6110. This way it will be recognized on the new port assigned.
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
HP Officejet and PSC Full Feature Software and Driver.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
The Officejet 6110 is a Windows Update for Windows 7. There is no HP Imaging Director software available to run on Windows 7. Installing the Printer Software in Windows 7 for a USB Cable Connection.
Please provide in detail the results. If I missed anything, just let me know.

  • How to print doc from my kindle fire to a hp officejet 6500 wireless printer

I have a kindle fire and a hp officejet 6500 wireless  printer. How do I connect the 2 and print a document that is on my kindle? They are both in the same house

    Hi,
    Please try:
From a supported app, find the Print option from the app's menu, and then tap Print .
Find the option to select your printer. The Kindle device displays a list of printers that are available on the Wi-Fi network.
Find your printer on the Wi-Fi list, and then tap to select it. Once you select the printer, your device remembers the selection.
If your printer is not on the Wi-Fi list or if you want to use the wireless direct connection method instead, find your printer on the Wireless Direct list, and then tap to select it. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection. Once your printer is connected, your device remembers the selection.
Make any changes to the available printing options, if desired.
Tap Print to send the print job to the printer.
Pleae note: Only "Fire OS 3.0 (Mojito) devices such as the Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HDX tablets support Printing from Kindle."

  • Apple macbook air compatibility with HP Officejet 6500 Wireless

    Two questions
    1. If I buy a new current model  MacBook Air, will it work with my HP Officejet 6500 Wireless printer?
    2. Sometimes when I power up the printer, it can take as long as five minutes to register "ready." Why the erratic time to go online?
    Thanks
    TT95

Thanks for your swift reply to the Apple/HP compatibility question.  Trust it will work when I buy MacBook Air. The HP app available at iTunes store helped us make our older Apple IPad print compatible even though the HP 6500 Wireless is not equipped with AirPrint.
Regarding slowness of HP 6500 to reach "Ready" stage for printing. This is a printer for home use, so it not on a network. It always eventually prints.
    Your help is much appreciated.

  • Officejet 6500 Wireless dead on install

While installing my new Officejet 6500 Wireless printer as a wireless network printer, the
install fails to find the printer... though my firewall is turned off.  At this point, it goes ahead
and installs the driver, as the printer is still hooked up by a USB cable.
Once the software was installed, the printer became a "brick".   That is, the display is all
white, none of the buttons are lit up, and it is completely unresponsive.  If I try unplugging it and
pluggin it back in, it goes through some kind of breif warm up and dies again.  This is the second
time this has happened... the first time I returned the printer for exchange.
Is there a way to bring this thing back to life, or should I return it again and this time go
    for a Canon printer?
    RB
    Windox XP
    2Wire dsl router

Try unplugging from the back of the printer (not at the wall) and waiting 30 seconds before plugging back in.  You may have a defective unit.
You can try running the Wireless Setup Wizard from the front panel to attach it to your wireless network.

    Hi,
Your printer is not in the list therefore no AirPrint available. Your printer does not support ePrint therefore you can use Home & Biz apps. Have you downloaded apps to your iPad yet ? If yes, please try:
Pressing the iPad home button two times (a list of currently running apps should appear at the bottom of the screen).
Press and hold the HP ePrint Home & Biz app until it starts to move around.
Press the red 'X' on the app to end its process.
    Press the iPad home button.

  • HP Officejet 6500 Wireless/Curled corner with Ink blotch

I am printing on 5.83" x 8.27" cardstock in color.  The left hand top corner of nearly every page is turned up with a round ink blotch that smears if you touch it.   I have printed about 100 of these on new color ink cartridges and it is getting worse to the point that nearly every page now has this issue.  I have run the "clean printhead' function on the tools menu but that doesn't help.  Any suggestions?

    Hello blueeyes14,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  I see you are running into some print quality issues when attempting to print on 5.83" x 8.27" card stock to your HP Officejet 6500 Wireless Printer. After taking a look at the Supported Card Sizes, the card stock you are using is not supported. With that being said, there could be a few factors that are causing the issue you are experiencing:
    1. The card stock may be to thick, so the ink is not able to properly dry before it finishes the print causing the blotch and curl. (I understand you may have had successful prints with that cardstock size, that does not mean it is supported)
    2. I notice you have printed 100+ of these, please keep in mind if the printer is running for long periods of time this could cause it to overheat and not work properly.
Can you please let me know what the weight of the card stock is you are using?
I will watch for your reply.
    Thanks,
    HevnLgh
