OfficeJet 6500a cannot print on green paper

We purchased an HP OfficeJet 6500a Plus this morning. Installation went smoothly and the printer has been working well.
However, a couple of hours ago we ran into a problem printing on green paper. The printer picks up the paper, but says it is the wrong size or type (mismatch size or type error message).
We print our work orders, invoices, etc. on different colors of paper and distribute them around the office. So far, we have successfully printed white, yellow, pink, and a lime green. We cannot get the printer to accept a pastel green paper, but we really need to be able to print on it.
I've looked at several pieces of paper, but I cannot find a problem with it. The paper is the right size (letter) and identical in every way I can tell except for the color. Every other printer in the office is an HP printer and we've never had an issue like this before.
I have tried looking at settings and changing the paper type, but I haven't had any luck (paper type is set to plain paper).
The printer is connected directly to a WIndows XP (SP3) PC via USB cable.

After a lot of searching, I found someone else with the same problem:

He never received a real solution; he says he "got around the problem by sellotaping a torch to the paper tray." I honestly have no idea what that means, but adding something to rig it is not an acceptable solution. This is a printer that is used by one salesperson who is not computer-saavy.
I have tried printing as various media types (transparent, glossy, matte, iron-on, other specialty paper...and others) with no luck.
The media sensor has so far been more frustrating than useful.

I bought the Officejet 6500A Plus about one month and have experienced the very same problem. I tried to remedy this problem following suggestions in a number of different posts (static IP, router, firewalls etc), all to no avail. Last week I called support. The support I received by the tech over several hours and different days for a week was very good. However none of his suggestions corrected the connection issue. After today's recommended fix failed, he advised HP is aware of this issue with the 6500 and other affected printers. He claimed HP was working on a firmware upgrade. He did not know when the update would be provided. The tech also claimed HP acknowledged this problem in a written announcement. He agreed to email the announcement to me. I haven't received it. This has been the only problem I've had with the 6500

Officejet 6500a E170a printing issues - enviromentally unfriendly!!

Ive just purchased an Officejet 6500a E710a printer - totally enviromentally unfriendly when it comes to printing.... I need to use this printer mainly for printing out customers addresses, so only need small pieces of paper to do this. This crazy machine wants me to use specificially sized paper all the time, so I sat down and cut a pile of 6x4 pieces, only to find that the printer has a hissy fit and tells me there is a paper mismatch - the sensor reckons the paper is not 6x4. . I dont want to use an A4 size sheet just to print an address and then waste the rest of the paper, and I dont want to measure every piece of paper I want to use to work out what size it is just to please the sensor in the printer - **bleep** waste of time. I should be telling this printer what I want, not it telling me what it wants. I now have a room full of odd sizes of paper none of which the printer wants to recongise. Hate it. Where is, or why doesnt this printer have a custom feature where I can print to any size paper I choose. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers. .

Apart from these, you should be able to do custom settings for your own paper type and size from the Printer Preferences menu.

Apple don't make any printers, but there are a number of the printers that are AirPrint-enabled, which you should be able to print to just by the printer and the iPad being on the same wifi network - the models that support AirPrint are listed on this page (the page also includes a bit of troubleshooting at the bottom of it) and it includes :

HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-In-One E710n
If your's isn't one of those then you could see if HPs own ePrint app works with it, or there are third-party printer apps such as PrintCentral Pro and Print n Share which might work it

HP Officejet 6500A Plus prints blank pages

Hi,
I have worked HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer.
It was printed fine.
Suddenly it prints "blank" pages.
It's the same blank when it printing using "Copy" or "Print" through any application.
And it does not matter what was selected: black or color.

This should guide you on check the ink cart and print head.

HP Officejet 6500A Plus does not feed paper

HP Officejet 6500A Plus, Mac OS X 10.6.8,The printer does not feed paper. Then gives the message that 'printer is out of paper'. I have done all of the reset and cleaning procedures recommended on the HP web site. That does not correct the problem when I do 'Print Status Report'.Observing through the front with a flashlight, the paper feed mechanism comes down on top of the paper stack, but the rollers do not feed paper. Then the feed mechanism lifts up and the error message 'printer is out of paper' is displayed on the small screen on the printer. If a single sheet of paper is inserted deep into the printer so that it can be captured by the print rollers, then the printer produces a normal 'printer status report'.The problem appeared after printing some photos on official HP photo paper with new official HP cartridges. My HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus printer/scanner/fax/copier won't connect to my wireless network

I tried going through the Wireless Network setup on my HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus machine. The printer recognizes the network and I then type in my network's password but it won't connect to the network. What can I do? I would like to be able to print and scan wirelessly. Help please!

Cannot print on glossy paper any more

I used to be able to print on glossy paper and no longer can do so. Anybody know why. I also cannot scan any more.
I think I am missing some software but I have no idea how it got lost or how to get it back. This has been going on for more than a year and I have been working around it but I need to use it now.

Hard Reset – While printer is powered ON, pull
the power cord from the printer then from the
wall. After 30 seconds reconnect power to
wall and printer. This will trigger a ‘dirty power
up’ and restore the printer to a known good
condition (if it is possible). No user settings
are lost with a ‘hard reset’.
This ‘Hard Reset’ is one of the most powerful
tools to use when the printer hardware is not
functioning properly!

I see that you are wanting to use construction paper in the printer.
I am going to give you the Printer Specifications for the HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One and 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer ....
Seeing the you didn't list the size and weight of the paper, I suggest you look at the Paper handling section to see if the paper you would like to use is listed.
If it isn't listed, it is not supported.

I cannot print on 6x8 paper.

I purchased a 310e. I like to make stationery with my printer. With my old printer I had no problem printing on 6x8 paper. The new printer won't align propertly. I am using Windows 7. They say that the problem is the driver. Thank you.

HP Photosmart Premium e-All-in-One Printer - C310a is the closest I could find to the 310e but we want to make sure of exactly which one you are working on.

Officejet 6500A cannot enable web services/needs proxy

I bought this new 6500A so I could e-print. Can't set it up. It keeps telling me Web services has not been enabled. MAKE SURE PRINTER IS CONNECTED TO INTERNET AND TOUCH CONTINUE. I have been able to print my e-mails from my comcast account. I CAN GO TO ANY WEB PAGE AND PRINT THAT PAGE BUT YET IT SAYS IT ISNT CONNECTED.. Then it says might need a proxy address.
I have been working on this for almost a week if not soon getting it I am taking it back and buying a different brand.
I had my HP Officejet 6310 for a gazillion years but am ready to get a different brand because i cannot get this to work. PLEASE, PLEASE, HELP.

Laptop and Officejet 6500A Plus printer can't communicate using HP software

When I use Windows 7's built-in "Find New Printer" utility, I have no problem establishing communication between my laptop and my OfficeJet 6500 A Plus printer/scanner/fax. It works fine for printing, but I really need a scanner, so I try to use the HP software. I've tried both the full software package and the basic driver option, but the printer and the laptop can't seem to find each other, whether I use my Google fiber-based home Wi-Fi network or connect with a USB.
Both the laptop and the printer say they're connected to my home network. Any advice?

I see you are trying to install the 6500a Plus so you can scan, however you can not get the software to find the printer. I would like you to try using the HP Printer Install Wizard, this will act similar to the Windows installer for Plug N' Play.
Let me know if this is able to install the software correctly or if it fails.

Cannot print to plain paper in iPhoto (or iTunes)

Just installed a new printer - HP PSC 1510.
Works fine except that if i decide to print a test page in iPhoto (b4 using costly photo paper) or a simple CD insert in iTunes, the paper type options for plain or automatic are greyed out & cannot be selected.
In all other applications they appear!
Has anyone had the same problem & do you know a solution?

Thanks for that. Unfortunately even if I select this when you check the Paper type details under the Advanced tab still overide this. Must add that this wasn't the case with my HP PSC 1210, must be the age of the driver?

One original Intro cartridge no longer recognized by HP Officejet 6500a Plus printer

The original "Intro" Magenta cartridge in my HP 6500a Plus is no longer recognized by the printer.
The other "Intro" color cartridges (cyan and yellow) have a little ink left, and are recognized, along with a non-Intro HP black cartridge.
I didn't use this printer a lot. What would cause just one cartridge to no longer be recognized by the printer?
I can't use this printer at all now because of this. Not even for black-only printing... Not even for scanning!

More info: The Magenta cartridge has an expiry of 2013/08, and the other 2 color cartridges have an expiry of 2013/09.
Hmm.. are these cartridges designed to self-destruct about 6 months after expiry, even if they have some useable ink left in them?
In a month or so, will the other 2 quit being recognized as well?
I get:
Ink System has failed (0xc19a0020)
Ink System has failed (0xc19a0022)

I've done Solution one: Reset the printer.
Done Solution two: Remove, clean, and reinstall the printhead.
Done Solution three: Reset the product (looks like the first solution).
I'm going to but a new Magenta cartridge and see if the problem goes away..

I just discovered the Embedded Web Server on my E710n-z printer. Very cool!
But it shows conflicting information from what the LCD panel shows:
(it shows the printer head as damaged)
And here, it recognizes the Magenta cartridge as empty:
I only printed 132 pages in the lifetime of this printer and the head is gone?

OfficeJet 6500a plus n Out of paper but paper tray is full

Out of paper notification. Paper tray is full. Windows 7 operating system 64 bit.

"Out of paper" message appears for one of the below mentioned reasons:
The paper trays are overloaded.
The paper is curled.
The paper is too slick for the product.
The paper might not be engaged with the feed rollers.
The paper width guide is pressed against the paper stack too tightly.
The paper tray is not completely inserted into the product.
The paper settings in the print driver do not match the paper loaded in the paper tray.
The rubber paper feed rollers are dusty.
Try methods mentioned in the link given below and check error message still appears
