Officejet 6500A Plus Suddenly only prints red for most but not all occasions.

In the middle of printing a report it switched to RED ink.  I bought and replaced black cartridge... though it still had ink. (NO SUCCESS)   It prints BLACK for copies, for documents on Pages (I Mac) and from wife's laptop that is connected.  SOMETIMES IT PRINTS BLACK when I click on PDF and Print.... but not all the time.  It ALWAYS PRINTS RED when I print an e mail.  No TROUBLESHOOTING suggestions seem to fit this irregular problem

PDF's are typically send to the printer as graphics, which may cause them to be printed with the color cartridge rather than black.  If your cyan cartridge is low (or not working) the print will appear red.  To address cyan not printing properly the document here may help.
Depending on your OS you may be able to set the printer to print in Grayscale and Black ink only.

  • Album Art works for most, but not all

I was reading previous forums on the subject, but no clear answer was given..
The album art shows up fine in itunes and my library and works for most of my music on my ipod, but how come some album's art does appear? I have it set manually and select 'Get Info' then 'Artwork' and add it from there, then drag in the finished product to my ipod. I've been doing that and it works fine for most of the albums, but every so often, the album art will not appear on my ipod. Am I doing something wrong? I take them all from the same source (amazon.com) but it makes no sense to me how some randomly don't appear.
I tried deleting the artwork and re-adding it, but nothing happened again. If you could answer why it works for most but not all or how I can get the album art to appear for the ones it will not by re-doing something, it would be appreciated. thanks.

I encountered the same problem in the beginning. When I compared the size of the original images, the working ones seemed to be smaller in general, so I reduced the size of all covers I intended to upload on the pod to 300x300 pixels.
This seemed to work - for 2 days. I bought the pod on friday, had pictures on sunday, but on Monday (after the first time the pod was fully discharged) none were left left.
So I ended searching this forum for related problems...
And decided to join my problem to this entry.

  • How do I disable copy/paste for most (but not all) of a .pdf?

Hello, I'm trying to create a .pdf document that is a "how-to" guide.  I'd like to disable copy/pasting from 95% of this document, with the exception of a few sections that i'd like my users to be able to copy and paste and use as email templates.  I've gone ahead and set pasword security settings and un-checked the box for "enable copying of text, images, and other content".  Is there any way that I can enable copy/paste for just a few small sections of my document?  or is it an "all or none" function?
Thanks in advance for your help.  -Geoff

Graffiti, Can you please expand on that?  I'm using Microsoft Word as my original document.   I'll have mostly paragraphs of non-copyable text, with a few sections that contain sample email templates that will be copyable.  Example below.  Thanks, Geoff

  • I cannot get my HP Officejet 6500A Plus 710N to print in color. I have reinstalled the drivers..

I cannot get my HP Officejet 6500A Plus 710N to print in color. I have reinstalled the drivers.  It used to print in color and just stopped.  I think it may be a settings issue?  I have checked the ink levels and they are all fine. When I print a diagnostic report on print qualify, the black prints well, but there is no color printing.

Okay, I had the same problem. It's most likely your printhead. All you have to due is clean it.
Note: I was sceptical of this approach but can fully attest to it's sound results as it restored my printer back to full functionality. Prior to this the printer only would print Black ink.
The print head is the carriage that holds all of your ink cartridges in the printer. On the 6500A it's super easy to remove. Opent your lid like your changing your ink cartridges. Remove all of your ink cartridges. Once they're out. There is a lever on the left side of the carrier that holdes your ink cartridges. Lift it up and the print head comes right out. Net take your print head to the sink and run it under hot water aiming towards the the four cirles were the ink flows into. Keep running it under the hot water until it is coming out clear. It's okay to run it under the bottom part too infact you'll need to inorder to get it completely rinsed out. Also don't touch the computer metal strips with your hand thought you can run water over them. Once your done rinsing use a blow dryer or a can of compressed air (thats what I did) to dry every thing out. I was able to get everything dry in about 5 minutes or so. Let it sit for a few minutes and check it again for water. I recommend moving it around to get full exposure to insure it is dry. Also if you use a hair dryer try to put it on a cold setting since there ar rubber grommets the surrount the inlet ink ports you wouldn't want to melt them with the hot air etc.. Like I said I used a can of compressed air.  It's important to use a quick method of drying as mentioned otherwise mineral particles could become deposited on the unit. This won't happen with the methods as I've described because the molecules won't be able to bond since your blowint them off. Oh yeah, you'll want to place a clean peice of paper down as your blowing because at first you'll end up with a few black jet marks as your blowing. Also don't wear your favorite white shirt lol.
Okay once it's dry replace the print head carriage back in push the lever down install the ink cartridges. Close the lid then unplug the printer. Wait 5 seconds plug it back in then it will reboot and start its set up procedure kind of like whet you first bought the printer except you won't have to change any of your network or setup setting since they are saved in memory. Also be patient about the set up procedure it seemed very slow for me. Once it finishes you will be prompted to run the printer alignment process. Run the alignment process and you should be all good. If not at least you gave it a shot. If this doesn't work your going to have to pay $60 for a new printer head. Which is not that big of a deal but hey if you can fix it for free why not. If you do decide to buy a new printer head you might find deals online or ebay just make sure it's an Genuine HP print head. And lol use the Genuine HP ink cartridges. Finally make sure you print at least on colored page per month to make sure the ink doesn't clog up in the future.
Remember this suggestion is after you have run the HP clean ink cartridge procedure twice. Sometimes the clean procedure will correct the problem first. Also there is video I watched on YouTube about this just search for "Clean HP 6500 print head. Hope that helps
Once it's all dry just reinstall the printer head carriage

I am batch processing in PS 2014 (watermark and saving as jpeg from ps file). I get the message for some but not all 'this file needs to be saved as a copy with this option'. And then I have to save it manually. Does anyone know why this happens? (It is just a plain photoshop file, a watermark is added, then save as jpeg - the jpeg is saved to a different folder than the original photoshop file.)  It happens for about 10 of 30/40  files approximately . Thank you, Kathryn

I believe I have figured it out - I need to flatten the image, even though there are no layers except for layer 0, first.

  • Officejet 6500A Plus - Error Msg says to load paper, but paper is loaded

If this is wrong Board, please advise. This is my first itme posting.
I'm using my Officejet 6500A Plus wirelessly with my Toshiba Windows XP laptop and have enjoyed tremendously. Yesterday I started getting an error message when I tried to print or copy, "Load paper in printer." Paper was loaded.  I tried turning it off, and back on. I tried unplugging. I tried removing and replacing the paper many times. I even tried dusting (ha ha). I've probably had the printer less than six months.
    Appreciate the help!

  • My HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus has dual sided printing. It is attached wirelessly thru my airport express. I can find no way to print dual sided using most but not all of my applications. When I go to system pref..printers..and check out any of the options

Previous suggestions said after sys prfs..Printers..I should either open the print queues then go to printer setup then chose driver,  or go to options & supplies and then do settings, or in some way click the driver and pick the settings. None of the above provides the answer. I am using os x 10.8.

Make sure the printer driver you're using is the correct one. In System Preferences, Print/Scan, select your printer, and see what it says under "Kind" on the right-hand side. If it's anything other than the exact model of your printer (if it just says Airprint, or Generic something), you need to delete the printer and add it back in using the correct driver. You may have to download the official driver from HP, but it should work automatically.
Other than that, I'm not sure what else to try. The two-sided option should be in the basic printer page for most printers, as far as I know, but you may have to click the "Show Details" button on a print dialog to see it.

  • I am trying to print all the PDF pages in a range of 5 pages but can only print one page at a time . . . It will print the current page, but not all or pages 1-5.  Can this be overcome?

I am trying to print all the PDF pages in a range of 5 pages but can only print one page at a time . . . It will print the current page only, but not all or pages 1-5.  I need to go to the next subsequent page and command to print current page; continuing with this procedure until all pages are printed one at a time. Can this be overcome?

You can use printPages(1, 5), however I need to know how you print current page.

  • Email Alerts are working for some but not all users

If some users are getting the alerts and some not, it seems more likely that the issue is with your email server or email clients, not with your SW setup.
Have you checked SPAM / Junk folders on the server and on the clients?

We have alerts setup for multiple scenarios.  All of our users are setup the same but not everyone is getting the alert.  We are using the spiceworks mail servers and I have checked the Spiceworks App Notifications are set to Yes.  Any ideas?

  • Printer works for ipad but not laptop

My printer works fine with my ipad but stopped working with my laptop. I have windows seven. I put the IP address in the search bar and went to the hp site. I tried to print a page from there and it worked fine. But I can't get it to work on any other site or for WORD.

    Hi Beckyls45,
    Welcome to the HP forums!
I'm sorry to hear you haven't been able to print from your laptop recently, but I'd be happy to have a further look into things and see if I can help
Which model HP printer do you have?
Since you can get to the printer's Embedded Web Server (with the IP address in the address bar) you're still connected, but something seems to be blocking communication. I will suggest that you start with downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and follow any diagnosis it may have to offer. If that says everything is fine or isn't able to resolve the issue for you, please just let me know.
Hope to hear back from you soon!

  • LDAP works for some but not all

I have CPS set up, and it's been working for years, all of a
sudden all of my users at one location cannot authenticate. The CSI
file is fine, but it's had to be replaced a few times. The users
    LDAP settings haven't changed.
The server is at siteA and all siteA users are fine. SiteB
users cannot authenticate to contribute, but they can log into VPN
and choose a VPN connection at siteA and they work just fine.
The Access Denied message is coming from CPS, and is not NTFS
    or other security.
We've deleted an affected user and recreated the account in
    CPS and still no luck.
    Anyone Seen this issue before?

Problem resolved. After a few conversations with different
teams, we found a change that went in at the time this started and
    investigated what that change was.
There is a new Wan optimization appliance that started being
used between site A and site B which apparently caused my problem.
Once my connections where excluded from this appliance, everything
    started working again as normal.
Just in time, I was planning to tear down and completely
    rebuild my server today.

  • Is there a software update for Apple's Lion OS and my Officejet 6500A Plus?

Has HP released a software update for Apple's new Lion OS (10.7.2)?  My HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus can't find my computer most of the time. scan to computer no longer works since I installed Lion. Now the printer is not recognizing an HP-brand yellow ink cartridge--I've installed TWO new ones already! What a waste. HELP!
    Thanks,
    Jim

Had a text from Nokia on my 3 N8 today saying keep your N8 up to date.
Couldn't find an update through 3, but went to the UK Nokia website and managed to update from software version 011.012 to 013.016 which takes the release from PR1.0 to PR1.1
    Update went very smoothly.
Still trying to track down specific details of the fixes and improvements in this update.
However, I have read that in April 2011 there will be a Release PR2.0
I am particularly interested in this as I understand that it will allow user-defined bookmarks to be added to the Home Screen with their particular "icon" rather than the generic icon, so that you can see in a sort of (dare I say it here?) iPhone way which webpage you are going to access...
    We'll see.

  • How do I get my HP Officejet 6500A plus off idle?

I sent documents to be sent to my HP Officejet 6500A Plus and the printer list indicates the printer is connected (wireless) and the list of documents to print shows it is printing but the heading after connected to printer reads "idle".

    Hi,
The scan settings need to be changed at HP Scan app. Launch the HP scan application from your computer and  select the option on left side (PDF or JPEG....) then choose the scanning size as legal on the right.
Save it and close the app.
Now you can scan in legal.
    Note:
Also you can create your own scan settings from HP Scan settings.

  • Wireless configuration for HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer on Ubuntu 10.04

I have bought a HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer CN557A, which I want to use with ubuntu 10.04 64-bit as a wireless network printer.
Before i bought i checked compatibility on www.hplipopensource.org and www.openprinting.org, and all was in order.
The machine is autodetected and fully functional when connected with a usb cable, but i have not managed to get it to work as a wireless printer.
    This is what I did:
I configured the printer on the wireless network (through the printer interface), and it connects. It prints out a "Wireless Network Test Report", and everything works. I can ping to its local ip adress, and access it through the browser. HP eprint also works.
I installed hplip 3.11.10 and dependencies manually. I did this because the default hplip in ubuntu 10.04 did not recognise the device.
I ran 'hp-check', which gave no errors or warnings:

I then ran 'sudo hp-setup', chose the device (which was detected), chose my wireless network, entered the wireless security key. On the configuration results dialog I get two messages:
"Your printer has been succesfully configured on the wireless network. You may now unplug the USB cable"
    and
"The Ethernet cable is plugged in which will prevent you from connecting to a wireless network. To connect wirelessly, remove the cable and try again. (VSA000)"
There is no ethernet cable plugged in, so i can't remove it. I unplug the USB cable and click 'finish'. This makes the 'hp-setup'-dialog start over again, and the printer has not been installed.
In the terminal i have the following:
    tjoff@mek-403-jakbo-01:~$ sudo hp-setup
    [sudo] password for tjoff:

A friendly soul on ubuntuforums pointed out to me, that the wireless configuration is only necessary when the printer is NOT connected to a (W)LAN. So all I really had to do was to configure the printer in the CUPS administation page, and it worked. Problem solved. Silly me.
