    Hello,
I see that you're having an issue installing the software. Have you tried installing the software from a different browser?
Does this happen on chrome and IE?

  • Trying to download driver for printer but unable to find device on wireless network

I was having trouble printing from my Macbook Pro to my HP Photosmart 5510 printer, so removed the printer and then tried to re-install the driver from the HP site.  I go through the process but then my mac is unable to find the printer - the circle keeps going round trying to find it - but no luck.  I have turned the printer on and off but no joy.  Help please - thanks

    Hi 2011tigger,
I would like to help you get your printer and MAc communicating again. The following document contains information about the possible causes of a lost wireless connection, tips for avoiding the issue, and troubleshooting steps to help you restore the wireless connection on your printer; Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
    I hope this helps.

  • Officejet 6500A Plus Suddenly only prints red for most but not all occasions.

In the middle of printing a report it switched to RED ink.  I bought and replaced black cartridge... though it still had ink. (NO SUCCESS)   It prints BLACK for copies, for documents on Pages (I Mac) and from wife's laptop that is connected.  SOMETIMES IT PRINTS BLACK when I click on PDF and Print.... but not all the time.  It ALWAYS PRINTS RED when I print an e mail.  No TROUBLESHOOTING suggestions seem to fit this irregular problem

PDF's are typically send to the printer as graphics, which may cause them to be printed with the color cartridge rather than black.  If your cyan cartridge is low (or not working) the print will appear red.  To address cyan not printing properly the document here may help.
Depending on your OS you may be able to set the printer to print in Grayscale and Black ink only.

  • Wireless configuration for HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer on Ubuntu 10.04

I have bought a HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer CN557A, which I want to use with ubuntu 10.04 64-bit as a wireless network printer.
Before i bought i checked compatibility on www.hplipopensource.org and www.openprinting.org, and all was in order.
The machine is autodetected and fully functional when connected with a usb cable, but i have not managed to get it to work as a wireless printer.
    This is what I did:
I configured the printer on the wireless network (through the printer interface), and it connects. It prints out a "Wireless Network Test Report", and everything works. I can ping to its local ip adress, and access it through the browser. HP eprint also works.
I installed hplip 3.11.10 and dependencies manually. I did this because the default hplip in ubuntu 10.04 did not recognise the device.
I ran 'hp-check', which gave no errors or warnings:

    2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
    3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode

I then ran 'sudo hp-setup', chose the device (which was detected), chose my wireless network, entered the wireless security key. On the configuration results dialog I get two messages:
"Your printer has been succesfully configured on the wireless network. You may now unplug the USB cable"
    and
"The Ethernet cable is plugged in which will prevent you from connecting to a wireless network. To connect wirelessly, remove the cable and try again. (VSA000)"
There is no ethernet cable plugged in, so i can't remove it. I unplug the USB cable and click 'finish'. This makes the 'hp-setup'-dialog start over again, and the printer has not been installed.
In the terminal i have the following:

A friendly soul on ubuntuforums pointed out to me, that the wireless configuration is only necessary when the printer is NOT connected to a (W)LAN. So all I really had to do was to configure the printer in the CUPS administation page, and it worked. Problem solved. Silly me.

  • Is there a software update for Apple's Lion OS and my Officejet 6500A Plus?

Has HP released a software update for Apple's new Lion OS (10.7.2)?  My HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus can't find my computer most of the time. scan to computer no longer works since I installed Lion. Now the printer is not recognizing an HP-brand yellow ink cartridge--I've installed TWO new ones already! What a waste. HELP!
    Thanks,
    Jim

Had a text from Nokia on my 3 N8 today saying keep your N8 up to date.
Couldn't find an update through 3, but went to the UK Nokia website and managed to update from software version 011.012 to 013.016 which takes the release from PR1.0 to PR1.1
    Update went very smoothly.
Still trying to track down specific details of the fixes and improvements in this update.
However, I have read that in April 2011 there will be a Release PR2.0
I am particularly interested in this as I understand that it will allow user-defined bookmarks to be added to the Home Screen with their particular "icon" rather than the generic icon, so that you can see in a sort of (dare I say it here?) iPhone way which webpage you are going to access...
    We'll see.

  • Email/code for Officejet 6500A Plus

I can not find the printer email/code on my  Officejet 6500A Plus.  I'm trying to sign up for ePrint.

    Hi David
    For Officejet products
    - Ensure that your printer is connected to the internet either wirelessly or through an ethernet  / LAN cable
    - On the printer's front panel display, touch Setup>Web Services Setup>Printer Email Address to reprint the information sheet. The  email address of your printer will be the code on the information sheet
    eg   [email protected]

  • Does apple make a printer for iPad if not how dow I get it to work with a HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer?

Does Apple make a printer for the iPad and if not how do I get it to work with a HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer? Thanks

Apple don't make any printers, but there are a number of the printers that are AirPrint-enabled, which you should be able to print to just by the printer and the iPad being on the same wifi network - the models that support AirPrint are listed on this page (the page also includes a bit of troubleshooting at the bottom of it) and it includes :
    HP Officejet 6500A e-All-In-One E710a
    HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-In-One E710n
If your's isn't one of those then you could see if HPs own ePrint app works with it, or there are third-party printer apps such as PrintCentral Pro and Print n Share which might work it

    Hi,
Tap Copy on the printer front panel, then tap the Settings button.
Tap Quality and select Draft / Fast.
Tap Set as New Defaults and then select Yes to confirm the changes.
From now on draft quality will be used for copying unless any other quality will be selected.

  • Will the officejet 6500a plus be ready for printing when the mains supply is turned on

I am considring the purchase of an Officejet 6500a Plus (duplex is a prime reason) it will be used in a home office environment with Win 7 operating system. I can remotely swithch on the mains supply to the printer and router. Will the printer be available to print (after start up checks) without further intervention?  eg. do i need to depress the start button on the printer?
    Many thanks in anticipation Jimbow

The printer should come up "ready" after a minute or so and accept print jobs without any intervention on the front panel.
That said, it would be much better to leave the printer turned on and let the automatic power management take care of putting the printer into a low power state.  If you remove power from the printer remotely there is a risk of having the printheads not properly capped after a print job.  This can cause the printheads to dry out, causing print quality issues.  It will also result in extra ink being used when the printer power is restored as more servicing will be performed on the printhead.

  • HP Officejet 6500A Plus will not maintain wireless connection reliably

For the HP EXPERTS on Expert Day, April 18, 2012:
B.L.A.T. (Bottom Line At Top):  We have an HP Officejet 6500A Plus purchased about 5 months ago.  We wanted to use it as a wireless-connected printer in another room besides our home office.  It is useless to us because it will not maintain its wireless connection, even sitting just a few feet from the router in the same room.  Except for numerous hours of troubleshooting, we have left it sitting powered up, but unused and idle, for almost the entire 5 months in our home office.  DURING ALL THAT IDLE TIME, IT HAS LOGGED OVER 3,200 DISCONNECTS, at a consistent rate of 24 disconnects every 24 hours, even though it ALWAYS reports that the wireless signal quality is “EXCELLENT” (all this is according to the Wireless Network Test Reports we’ve printed throughout the last 5 months).  So our question is, what is it that this printer is trying to do once an hour over a wireless connection that is causing these thousands of disconnects?  And how can we stop it?
NOTE!  Before you round up the usual suspects (namely our router and our PC firewalls) please note that we also bought an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus ON THE SAME DAY as the Officejet 6500A Plus.  The 8600 was also installed with a wireless connection, and has worked without a single network issue for the entire 5 months.
NOW, FOR THE REST OF THE STORY…
WHO WE ARE:  My wife and I have worked on HP equipment for 33 years, starting in 1979 as corporate customers of HP when we worked for Exxon; then we both worked for HP directly for 17 years; and we’ve now used dozens of pieces of HP equipment in our home during the last 12 years in retirement.  We’re primarily software folks, so we’re not exactly experts in hardware and networking, but on the other hand, this ain’t our first rodeo either.
    OUR CONFIGURATION:
PC’s – All running Windows 7 x64 with all important patches applied and Norton Internet Security 2012:  HPE-270f and HP AIO 200-Quad, each with full 6500A and 8600A drivers installed on wireless connection.  These 2 PC’s themselves can connect either wirelessly or via Ethernet to our home network.  The 270f has a dual-band wireless board.  Both bands work.  We also have a new dv7t laptop with only the full 6500A driver installed via wireless connection.  The laptop is now upstairs and it’s connected to our home network wirelessly without any issues.  (This is where we had hoped to also put the 6500A, but it needs to work reliably via wireless connection.)
ROUTER:  Netgear N600 WNDR3700 providing Ethernet and wireless networking.  Router provides a very strong wireless signal throughout the house.  No wireless problems with any other equipment including an iPod, two Kindle Fires besides all the HP equipment.
PRINTERS:  Besides the two HP printers, the HPE-270f PC has a Canon MP960 installed on it.  And if we can’t get the 6500A working right or replaced with something that does work right, we may be buying our second Canon printer.  By the way, on the 6500A, ePrint and App’s are set to ON, but of course they’re not being used, just like everything else on this AIO.
OTHER:  We also have a Sonos music system that connects to our network via Ethernet and has its own proprietary mesh network (on another frequency) for transmitting ripped music wirelessly to speaker units throughout our house.  (If you aren’t familiar with this totally cool system, check out sonos.com).  We’ve never seen any evidence of interference between these two wireless networks, or our wireless phone sets either.
HP TOOLS AVAILABLE ON ALL 3 PC’s:  HPU
    UPDATE 5.003.001.001 (reporting everything up-to-date); HPHDU 3.1.0.17; HPPDU 5.0.0.015 and HPNDU 4.3.0.002.
SYMPTOMS:  The 6500A Plus installs quickly and easliy, and connects wirelessly just fine during installation.  But sometime over the next hour (usually less), it disconnects and won’t print from PC applications.  Sometimes the application puts up an “Unable to communicate with printer” screen, even though the PC usually thinks the printer is “ready”.  Other times, the PC thinks the printer is offline (but printers don’t have “offline” buttons anymore!).  Often, if you just leave everything alone, the 6500A will somehow reconnect and print out the spooled file 5-30 MINUTES later.  So it does usually seem to be able to recover given some time, but that doesn’t always fit our schedule!   Occasionally, turning the wireless radio on the printer off and back on will fix it right away.  But usually, you have to power the printer completely off, and then back on.  As far as we know, that always fixes it…..until the next disconnect a few minutes later!
PREVIOUSLY TRIED:  After reading some of HP’s wireless network support websites, I manually assigned a fixed IP address to this printer.  It didn’t seem to matter; according to the wireless network test report, it still logs disconnects at the rate of one per hour, and all the failure symptoms were the same.
We also dabbled a bit with setting this printer as “trusted” to the Firewall, but that didn’t seem to matter either.
Next, we connected the printer via Ethernet.  The printer immediately started to work, even though it had just been in its “failed” state over the wireless connection.  As far as we know, it never failed while connected via Ethernet.  This seems to point to a purely wireless hardware/firmware problem on the printer itself.
Late last year, I tried two different chat sessions about this with the inter-continental AIO support teams, each one lasting several hours.  Unfortunately, none of their optimistic solution scripts seemed to fit our problem.  They both seemed determined to reconfigure the 6500A as a TCP/IP printer, which of course worked fine initially, just like everything else.  At this point, they would understandably want to close the chat.  But 20-30 minutes later, we could no longer print to it.  During the second chat, they got into one of our PC’s remotely and effectively turned off the spooler (by selecting “Print Directly” or something like that).  After that, all was well again (as usual) UNTIL the printer disconnected, at which time attempting to print from that PC would HANG the application (since the spooler was no longer buffering) and eventually hang the whole PC.  One giant leap backwards.  That’s when I gave up on the multi-hour chat sessions.
The three diagnostic utilities (HDU, PDU, NDU) have been tried over and over.  When the printer is in its disconnected state, the DU’s usually don’t detect the 6500A at all, or if they do detect it, they are unable to fix anything.  Frankly, it’s easier to just power the printer off (which takes about a minute) and power the printer back on (which takes more than a minute) and then wait for the spooler to kick in (usually about 30 seconds).  BUT WE DON’T CONSIDER THAT A SOLUTION!!
B.L.A.B.  (Bottom Line At Bottom):  We have used up nearly the entire black ink cartridge and at least a ream of paper troubleshooting this brand new printer, to no avail.  This printer is useless to us unless it can maintain a wireless connection reliably.  Please help!

I bought the Officejet 6500A Plus about one month and have experienced the very same problem. I tried to remedy this problem following suggestions in a number of different posts (static IP, router, firewalls etc), all to no avail. Last week I called support. The support I received by the tech over several hours and different days for a week was very good. However none of his suggestions corrected the connection issue. After today's recommended fix failed, he advised HP is aware of this issue with the 6500 and other affected printers. He claimed HP was working on a firmware upgrade. He did not know when the update would be provided. The tech also claimed HP acknowledged this problem in a written announcement. He agreed to email the announcement to me. I haven't received it. This has been the only problem I've had with the 6500

  • HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus e All in One Printer E710n-z

I have the HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus E710n-z series for All-In-One Printer.  I lost my driver software disk together with the PC computer that had the  software driver installed in it.
I now have the Printer and my current PC ( which is using Wins 7 Home Premium 64-bit Operating System).
I have found the download link for the driver software from HP website and from the internet. Each time I download the driver software, there was a "cancel" or "unable to proceed" message at the almost end of the download process. I was told to "retry".
My humble request is to have the driver software files so that I can install the driver and operate the printer. My PC is functioning as it can detect correctly the Printer with its correct name and model.
I donot know the problems. Is it a virus?
Alternatively, I greatly appreciate if you could email to me the driver software files.( Please use Google Cloud if the files are too big).
    Thank you for helping me.
    Best regards.

Since you have 10.10, you will first need to install this: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X. With that installed, follow the steps to add a printer here: Installing Your HP Printer Driver and Software for Mac OS X.

  • Windows Folder icon instead of Officejet 6500a Plus E710n icon in Devices and Printers

Can anyone help me to get the OfficeJet 6500a Plus e710n printer icon to display properly in Devices and Printers?
I recently reinstalled Windows 8.1.  However, when I installed my printer, instead of the printer icon appearing in Devices and Printers I get a generic yellow Windows folder icon.  The Fax icon is OK, just the printer icon is wrong.
If I double click on the icon, I get a mostly blank page with a message near the top saying: "Updated information is available about your device.  Click here to download or learn more."  If I click on the notice, a dropdown menu appears with "Download updated information" or "Learn more".  If I choose downloaded update information, a new printer window appears which is mostly blank except for a message at the centre of the window which says, "No tasks are available on this page"  The Learn more option just gives me info about updating drivers.
The printer icon on the Start menu is fine.
I've used HP Print and Scan Doctor to uninstall and reinstall my printer but this hasn't helped.  The program found a problem with the printer driver and fixed it, but that hasn't changed the icon either.
I am running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit fully up to date, and used the latest full version of the HP installation program for the printer (not the basic version) and HP Print and Scan Doctor v4.6.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Try following these steps and let me know if that may help:
From the control Panel select Network and internet and open the Network and Sharing Center.
Click on Change Advanced Sharing Center.
Ensure that Network Discovery is trned on but uncheck the box next to "Turn on automatic setup of network connected devices".
From devices and printer right click the printer and select Remove Device, repeat the for the Fax icon.
Note: if no such option exists for the printer follow the next steps.
Right click the background area and select Device Mahager.
Remove any instance of the printer from Imaging Devices, Printers, Print Queues, Multifunction Adaptors, Other Devices (if a such exists).
Once you are done the printer should no longer appear under Devices and Printers...
