Officejet 6600 produces blank pdf scans

I have a officejet 6600 all in one printer.I have had no troubles until today.I regularly use the device to scan and produce a pdf of my scan. Today the pdf files of the scan are showing only blank pages even though the image on my pc in the HP scan tool shows the correct image of the scan. So, the PDF file generation is producing blank files. All help is appreciated.

Hi Keith! I'd start by running the following two uninstall processes: Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled Uninstalling the Printer Software Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows. Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows. Please let me know how it goes!

  • Can I use the OCR of the Officejet 6600 on pdf files without printing and scanning them?

Product name: HP Officejet 6600 All in one
    Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
After scanning hundreds of pages to pdf format with the printer, I have realized that using the OCR scanning feature would have served my purposes better. (I don't have the originals). I would like to run the OCR on those scanned pdf files. Technically I could just print and rescan them all with the OCR feature, but that would be a huge waste of ink, paper and time. Can I run the built in OCR on pdf fles?

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @tahilaci ,
I read your post and wanted to stop in and reply to you! I am really unsure if there is conversion software somewhere out there, but if there is, you may be able to convert the files, if not, you will have to re-scan the documents. You might be able to highlight the PDF text and paste it into a Word document, otherwise, there's no alternative.
    Best of luck to you!

  • Scan to computer using HP Officejet Pro 8500 produces empty pdf

    Hi,
Since upgrading Windows on my computer from 8 to 8.1, the scan to computer function does not work properly. It produces a pdf file that is 0kb and when I try to open the file it says it is not a supported file or the file is damaged. The scan to USB works fine, and the scan to computer still works fine with other computers on the network that are using earlier versions of Windows.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, run the HP install wizard, run the HP diagnostic utility and the HP doctor. The HP doctor says that everything is working fine.
    What can I try next?
    Thanks,
    Beth

    Welcome to the forums Beth
Thank you for posting in the community. I will certainly do my best to help you with the scanning issue you are running into after upgrading to Windows 8.1. I would like you to try a few things.
Could you please run the HP Print and Scan Doctor again and report back to me with any errors it may show or if it shows the software is not installed. (If you can recall the tool showing if the software was installed or not, disregard running the tool again).
I would also like for you to try scanning by using Microsoft Paint to see if the scan will work that way.
There is a video on this post that will show you how to scan through Paint if you need assistance: Scanning with Paint in Windows 8
Try scanning by using the Solution Center from your desktop and let me know if you see any errors as well.
Hope to hear back from you!
    Enjoy your Thursday

  • Scanning always produces invalid PDF files

I recently purchased an HP OfficeJet 4636, and I notice that when scanning documents to PDF, the generated PDF files are always invalid. When opening these files in Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro, one gets the message "The file is damaged but is being repaired." Many other PDF tools can't open the files at all.
I have installed the newest firmware update and restarted the printer, but the problem was not solved.
I tried many different settings (e.g., resolution, paper size, scan from ADF, scan from Glass), but the problem is always the same. For the record, I am using the "Web scan" interface: http://XX.XX.XX.XX/#hId-pgWebScan.
If there were an opportunity to attach a file to this bug report, I would attach an actual PDF file generated by this printer. I am happy to supply the file later, and I will refer to this specific file in my analysis of the bug below.
I am familiar with Adobe's PDF definition:
PDF Reference, sixth edition. Adobe Portable Document Format
Version 1.7, November 2006. Abobe Systems Incorporated.
I examined the PDF file in detail and it is quite clear what the bug is. Object 1 of the PDF file starts at byte offset 10, and it is a stream object containing the main image data in compressed JPEG format. The Length field for the stream object (at byte offset 168) is set to 1051875. However, the actual compressed stream data is only 64914 bytes long.
This is incorrect, because the PDF Reference (Section 3.2.7, p.61, "Stream Extent") specifies that "If the stream has a filter, Length is the number of bytes of encoded data." (emphasis in original). In other words, the stream length should be set to 64914, which is the length of the JPEG encoded data, and not 1051875 (which is presumably the length of the raw unencoded image data).
Moreover, four of the entries in the PDF xref table (at offset 65504) are incorrect:
    the byte offset for object 2 is given as 1052085 (actual location of object 2 is 65124);
    the byte offset for object 3 is given as 1052140 (actual location of object 3 is 65179);
    the byte offset for object 4 is given as 1052206 (actual location of object 4 is 65245);
the byte offset for object 5 is given as 1052383 (actual location of object 5 is 65422).
Also, the PDF startxref pointer (at offset 65674) points to 1052465, whereas the actual location of the xref table is byte offset 65504.
Note that in all six cases, the error is exactly equal to the difference between the declared stream length (1051875) and the actual stream length (64914):
    1051875 - 64914 = 986961
    1052085 - 65124 = 986961
    1052140 - 65179 = 986961
    1052206 - 65245 = 986961
    1052383 - 65422 = 986961
    1052465 - 65504 = 986961
It looks like this is a simple programming error in the printer's PDF generation software: all the offsets are computed as if the length of the embedded image stream were 1051875, whereas it is actually 64914.
I scanned at different page sizes, resolutions, and so on. Each time, the actual byte offsets were slightly different (depending on the length of the encoded image stream), but the above relationships still hold in each case.
Please fix this! It is not really acceptable for an HP scanner to produce broken PDF files. Thanks, -- Peter

    Hi @Selinger
One of the important things to point out is that the Webscan feature was designed for diagnostic purposes. The intended method of scanning is with HP software and the software build into the OS.
For Mac users this includes Apple Preview, Image Capture, or scanning from the Print and Fax Window.
For Windows users, non HP software includes, Windows Live Photo GAllery, Paint, and Windows Fax and Scan.
Webscan is a great alternative, but it is very basic. Your best option it to install the HP software and us the HP Scan program.
If there is a particular reason you are using Webscan and prefer to scan this way, the only thing I can really suggest is to try a different browser.
Please let me know the outcome of a different Browser, what Browser you are currently using, and what happens when you scan with HP software. If you require further assistance, please also include your operating system. What operating system, and version do you have? Mac or Windows?
    I hope this helps.

Hello @dbvancouver   and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help.
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a/H711g Drivers.

  • HP Officejet 6600 and Outlook 2007 unable to send scan to email

    Hi,
I am unable to scan (HP Officejet 6600) from my comuter to Outlook 2007.  I used to scan whatever I am scanning for the day from my HP Officejet 6600, and then I would see my scan finished then I would hit email scan. I would then recieve multiple errors.
Here is the process; HP Scan (save) and then I get an error: The HP Scan application is unable to open your application and/or cannot attach the scan to a new email. Please check you email configuration and try again. I then select (Next) I select "OK," which then provides me with another error: This action is not supported while an older version of Outlook is running.
    Therefore, can somebody help me?
    Thank you,
    Joe Martinez

    Hi Joe,
First, try reinstalling the latest HP software.
From Programs and Features uninstall the HP Officejet 6600 Basic Device Software, next dowload and install the latest software below, then check for any difference:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-108845-4&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
If the issue remain ensure that Outlook is set as the default program.
From the Control Panel select Programs, then Default Programs.
Select Outlook 2007 from the left pane, ensure it shown as "Outlook have all its defaults", otherwise click the button to set all the defautls for outlook and check again.
If there is still no change I suggest trying the Hotfix for outlook below, be sure to follow the entire Resolution Section:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/813745
If there is still no change I recommend repairing Office / Outlook and check if that may help, otherwise you may need to Reinstall the software.
You may follow the steps to repair Outlook 2007 below:

  • Scan HP OfficeJet 6600 in Win7 in MacBook Pro Boot Camp

I initially installed my OfficeJet 6600 on my MacBook Pro, but my MBP has a Boot Camp partition where I run Windows 7. I usually print and scan from the Mac side. I can print with no problem when working in Windows, so I never gave any thought to scanning. Today I hit a snag when I tried to scan a document while working in Windows. I started at the printer/scanner and chose "Scan to Computer." The only machine that appeared was my MBP. Do I need to so something special to get Scan to Computer to work with my Win7 partition?

  • Officejet 6600 Scan alignment off

    OfficeJet 6600 to windows 7
I recently bought this printer and my first scan to my computer the page was off center. Is there any way to align the scanner? Older models this could be done by scanning the alignment page that was printed out by the printer.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Skiier88
You can also align the printhead on your Officejet 6600, which may help the scanning alignment issue.
    Selet Setup, Tools, Align Printhead
Try a scan to see if that helped any.
If there is still an issue, also try making a standard copy and let me know the results!
