Officejet 7130 printer Carriage Jam

My Officejet 7130 All In One has experienced a jammed carriage. Yesterday when preparing to make some copies, I turned the unit on, as it went into the initializion process the carriage began to move and a grinding noise was heard. This was followed by a message on the display stating "Carriage Jam, open carriage door, clear jam, close door and press return." This was done. Now when trying to start the printer the carriage starts to move but when it gets almost to the right it is stopped again with the grinding sound.. The display now says "open door Latch the Carriage, close door and press return."  It appears that the carriage is blocked at about the location where the output tray guides are located and a white part just to its right.
How does one "Latch" the carriage?

Hello,
If you see a belt out of its place, then its not a good sign. Hope it is not broken.
Is the belt translucent with lines on it ( similar to bar code lines ) ? if yes , then that could be a Encoder strip.
In either cases, the printer has to be serviced.
I'd recommend 2 solutions ...
a> Take it to a near by HP Authorized center
OR
b> If you are in USA, Call HP Tech Support to check if there is a Trade in option.
Please call HP Tech Support for further assistance.
If you are in US , the toll free # is 1-800-474-6836 .
If you are not in US , then log on to www.hp.com , at bottom-left corner there is a world map icon, click on it and then select the region you belong to, which would then provide support options for you for that region.

  • Printer carriage jam

This printer/scanner/copier has worked well since I bought it 3 years ago but today when I turned it on, a message appeared "Carriage Jam". I followed the instructions on the help video clip and checked for paper blockages etc and still it doesn't work. Also, I can't remove the two print cartridges. Help please, any ideas?

  • OfficeJet 4630 printer paper jams

I was setting up my printer, and when I loaded the paper tray to print an alignment sheet the printer either couldn't get to the paper or had a paper jam.  At least 5 sheets of paper have been jammed during the failed printing.  I need to know if it is the operator or the product.

Hello , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I see when you were setting up the alignment and putting the paper in on your HP Officejet 4630 the paper jammed. I would like you to start here: Setting Up the Printer Hardware, take a look at unpacking the printer and make sure all protective tape and tabs have been removed from inside and out. Now I would like you to start troubleshooting here: A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP Officejet 4630 Complete ALL steps in order and let me know the outcome. I will watch for your reply.

  • HP OfficeJet L7780 Physical carriage jam

My 7780 carriage is not able to traverse the printer because one of the four 'pads' that hold the paper feed pressure rollers somehow got jammed. It is stuck in an elevated position about 3/16" higher than the others are, and that is enough to stop the carriage as it moves across.
As you can imagine, this particular physical problem is not one covered in any HP troubleshooting guide, so I'm at a loss as to how to fix it. I've done as much as I can to manipulate the part back into position, but although there's a tiny bit of sway, nothing I can do is able to get it to sit back down.  It's probably the kind of relatively straightforward thing that someone who is pretty handy with tools could easily fix by taking the printer apart and putting it back together, but I'm not that handy. And since the cost of a service call (or even an out-of-warranty swap out) will be close to more than the cost of a new printer, I'm [reluctantly] afraid that I'm just going to have to throw it out...unless anyone around here has any bright ideas.
Below is a photo of the problem, thanks!

    Hello Sswee,
First of all, check the printer and see if you can notice any broken parts inside it. Then turn the printer off and open the access door on the back and push a piece of not too thick cardboard through the "top" part of the paper path towards the front of the printer. Hopefully this will be at least a temporary solution to your problem.
    Kind regards,
    Pontus.

  • HP Officejet 5510 all in one - stalling of printing carriage and printing problems

I have had this All in One Printer since December 2004. It had been working fine until I replaced a cartridge at a refill store over a year ago. To deal with the problem with HP I felt would be time consuming so I  put up with the problem and if I needed good quality printing, I would take it to Kinkos.
The print carriage is slow to respond and print from my computer and then in the middle of the task the carriage will stop and stall or bang like it wants to move, but is stuck and then, with all the lights flashing, I get a message in the copier window for me to clear the printing jam or carriage jam and then press OK.   I open the door to the carriage and then close it and press OK.  It does not always work the first time to make the carriage stop banging. Eventually it will stop and the paper will release  and then it will continue finishing the task, but a lot of the time what is printed has double printing with jagging to one side of the paper.
This is also affecting receiving any faxes because it involves print carriage.
I have done all the steps for clearing a paper/carriage jam. There is nothing visable to cause a jam.  I have managed to do  the self test after the printer goes through some banging and  then telling me to open the door to clear the jam.    I have done the steps to
clean the cartridges and then again do a self test.   I downloaded the latest driver/updates for the printer, but the problem persists.
The cartridge refill store , not seeing the problem first hand, keeps offering for me to bring back the cartridges if the problem persists and replace them.
Do you think it is the cartridges or the unit?   I just replaced the black cartridge in December 2009 and have not print much knowing
the quality would be poor.  Yesterday I saw a message that I am low on black ink. That does not seem possible.
When I do the self test it is showing white lines through the colored bars and I am missing the pink or red bar. So I know I have to replace the color cartridge.
As far as alignment,  when I did the first of two self tests,                                                     Second Test After the Drive Download
the Vertical Cartridge to Cartridge read    -12                               -24
the Horizontal Cartridge to Cartridge read    -24                                99
the Black Bidirectional Cartridge to Cartridge read    -54                                0
the Color Bidirectional Cartridge to Cartridge read      6                                 6
After doing the steps to automatically clean the cartridges, it printed a report with symbols at the top. They look to be squeezed together and the top portions of the symbols are missing.  The black bar has some white indents along the edges and the blue and yellow bars are spread more apart with some lighter colored lines vertically.
I have Windows XP and the HP Director was not working.  I downloaded the patch and it is working correctly telling me that both cartridges are low, the black more than the tri-color and now a message that the print carriage has stalled.  The help button tells me  to do everything I have already done.
Do you have an answer that I  can manage by myself or would it be better to take it to a computer repair place?
    Thank You , 918nifferf

I have a carriage jam on my HP Officejet 5510 which I cannot correct.. I have tried everything I know to do. There are two black pieces that will not spring down when the cartridges travel across. I th en get a carriage jam message.
    Do these pieces need lubricated?
How can I get t hem to go down when the carriage goes across?
Thanks for any information or help options

  • How can i clear a msg stating that i have a "print carriage access door?" jam when i clearly do not?

    Hello,
Regarding the OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless all-in-one, has ANYONE figured out how to bypass the FAKE paper jam error message on the device's screen  "Open the Print Carriage access Door, clear the jam and then press OK to Continue.  I am 100% positive that there is NO jam, yet I am unable to print or photocopy any docs.

  • Windows 2000 support/OfficeJet 7310 carriage jam

I have an OfficeJet 7310 that has run into a jammed carriage error. I think the sled below the carriage that caps the cartridges may not be retreating enough and causing the carriage to jam on the right. I've read some information, but has anyone run into this on this printer and have some clues about possibly fixing it?
I have one Win2K computer still in use that needs to print and scan. I know there is no official Win2K support for most newer printers, but are there any workarounds for some models that are either still available or still in stores? Maybe using a driver for a related model?
Otherewise, I may risk some money and buy a used one from eBay.

This 'Clear carriage jam and press OK to continue' Message Appears on the All-in-One document may offer some help, if you haven't tried all the solutions listed already.

  • The print carriage will not move even after the paper jam has been cleared

I had a paper jam this morning and cleared it out completely.  I keep getting a message on my HP ENVY 4500 that says the print carriage cannot move.  Open the ink cartridge access door, clear any paper jam or obstruction, ensure ink cartridge levers are lower and snapped.

  • Officejet 6600 "The print carriage cannot move"

Ran through the published problem solving steps, however, I still receive message of Carriage Jam. Have checked cartiages and everything appears okay there. Please help with any comments. Thank you.

Hello Kidrochester, and welcome to the HP Forums.
I see you are experiencing carriage issues.  I would like to try and assist.
I would recommend performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend following the steps in this document on a 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays on the Printer Control Panel.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would recommend contacting HP directly.  You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide.

  • The printer carriage is jammed and locked in place..how do i get it clear to move

my printer carriage won't move back to place...it is jammed in place after I put in a new cartridge

You should contact AppleCare if you don't remember the answers. Depending on a few factors, they might be able to reset those security questions so you can choose new ones and continue using your Apple ID like you were used to.
That's really the only solution if you're sure you don't remember any of the answers.
    Good luck

  • My photosmart C4580 keeps giving me a "carriage jam" mssg when I print from my Dell W7 laptop.

I have been having a problem for about a week now with a carriage jam issue.  I have a hp photosmart all in one c4580.  Everytime I go to print I get an error mssg, carriage jam.  I do not have a jam.  I signed on to my laptop last night and all of a sudden it started to print, only half a page but it did print.  When I tried to print again to get the full page it gave me the carriage jam error message.  I think it's a false positive message.  I don't have a paper or carriage jam.  The carriage moves freely by hand.  I have done all the things HP has suggested on the site and nothing works.  I had this same problem last year and it fixed itself after a time.  Now it's happening again.  Please help.

    Hi,
    Try watching this video -

     - and following the steps on your printer to see if you can resolve the issue.  This video should help to resolve false carriage jam error messages.  Make sure you have your printer connected directly to a wall outlet as well to ensure proper power.  The printer in the video is the Photosmart c4280 but the steps will be the same for your printer.
