Unacceptable Solutions: Using the built in Windows 7 driver and wizard or calling HP support, they were worthless on the phone.
Requested Solution: Install the supplied HP driver using their wizard?
Trouble Shooting Attempted: As per the Additional Information on the download page.  These steps failed.
If you encountered "Printer setup has failed to complete" error prompt, please do the following:
Click "Next" to proceed with the software installation
An "add a device" icon will be displayed on the desktop
Go to MS Windows 7\Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers folder
Right click on the printer icon and click on "Remove device"
Click "Yes" to confirm remove device
Select/Highlight any of the Printer and Faxes icon, and select "Print server properties".
Go to the drivers tab, select HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909x Series and click "Remove"
Select "Remove driver and driver package"
Go to the desktop and click on the "add a device" shortcut to complete the software installation
Note: I would've put this in the Windows 7 & Printer forum, but I can't post there....
1. Launch the 'Add a Device - Officejet Pro 8500 A909 Series' shortcut.
2. Finds the printer just fine and then tests the network activity without a hitch.
3. Printer is correctly detected.
4. But wait!  We error out right after detecting the printer.  /boo / hiss
Thank you for your expert help.

  • Windows 7 Print Setup

I just bought a new computer with Windows 7. My Printer  HPBusiness Inkjet 2800 is also new and on network.
I can print just fine from the new computer BUT I cannot find a way to slow the printer down to the Best Print. It will show to be 600dpi, but still prints fast, and the photo is not good quality.
I have tried printing from my old computer with Windows XP and it is fine.
Where do I find the printer properties that has the Best Print feature on Windows 7 ?

Hi there. Is your laptop on Windows & 32 bit or 64 bit? It should work with 32-bit as I read on the kb site:
The compatible Operating Systems are Windows 2000, XP, or Vista (32-Bit), Windows 7 (32-Bit).
    http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=49273cdd85ee4c928d9cf5c12d4c6cc3_16914.xml&pid=80&...
Try to download the setup wizard online on your windows 7 laptop:
     http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/printservers/WPSM54G
    Setup Wizard
    12/03/2009
    Ver.v1.1
    Download 57.1 MB
    (Setup Wizard)
One other thing, make sure you installed also your printer driver compatible for Windows7 laptop and make sure that you can print on your laptop when printer is connected to it.

  • Officejet 8500 wireless (no print)

I just went wireless and I'm unable to print to my 8500A.  I believe I have everything configured correctly.

I am sorry to hear your having a prblem with your HP 8500 Printer.   so you are switching for the printer to be Wireless. What was it before (i.e. Ethernet, usb)?  What kind of operating system do you have (windows 7, etc)
Please download and run the following programs
HPPDU - This will see if the software thinks the printer is connected or if any of the software is having any issues
HPNDU - This will show you if the printer is seen on your by the computer on the network
IF you run the HPNDU and the pritner isnt seen (however, confirmed that you are connected to the same network by looking at the SSID. Please do the following on your router
    1) G Mode only
    2) Mix Mode disabled
    3) MAC filtering OFF

  • Printer Setup Utility for 10.4.11

I had some software problems that necessitated resetting the Launchservices database (with Onyx), running Disk Warrior to rebuild the hard disk directory and other operations. At the end of all this, my printer, which is an Epson Stylus Photo R340 inkjet, did not work any more. I installed a new driver, and the printer worked. But I could not access the status window with its job queue, etc. On investigation, the Printer Setup Utility had completely disappeared.
I used Pacifist to extract the Utility from my install disk; but these are of a very early version of Panther, and the utility seems to be rather unstable and does not seem to work very well. For instance, it presents me with an enormous list of past jobs; when I delete them, the next time I open the Utility they are all back. And I cannot get it to show current jobs.
I updated my operating system progressively online via Software Update and am now on 10.4.11. I therefore do not have any disks from which to extract an updated version of the Printer Setup Utility. Is there anywhere and any way in which I can obtain a version of the Utility that will work better in OS X 10.4.11? Thank you in anticipation of any help.

because my system has benefited by now from all sorts of partial updates via Software Update (Safari, iTunes, etc., not to mention a series of security updates), which will not be in the combo system update on that link.
It shouldn't affect those at all.
Have you any idea what to do about that huge list of past jobs?
Paste this in your Browser's URL bar and see if Manage Jobs or such helps...

  • OfficeJet 8500 Printer attached to Windows XP system via USB prints partial pages

I have an OfficeJet 8500 printer stationed at the desk of one of my users and is attached to her Windows XP system with a USB cable.  The printer has started to print partial pages and will not complete a full page of text or images, color or black and white.
I have attempted to reset the printer by removing power from the printer via the power cord, and holding # and 6 while turning the printer on (after reconnecting the power cord, of course).  The alignment process took place after this procedure, but it has not resolved the issue.
I have not yet upgraded the firmware from what was installed at the factory.
What might I do?  What am I missing?  Do I need to upgrade the installed driver on the system?  Is the printer able to be salvaged?  It doesn't appear to be hardware, as the portions which print are perfect; I just don't get the entire page.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

The USB to parrallel cable will work just find if you don't mind plugging in the laptop to the printer when required. If you want to modify Win XP to be able to print to an AppleTalk printer follow the instructions below.
"To install AppleTalk protocol to Windows XP
Required files: (Get them from any system running Windows 2000 Professional or Server)
    netatlk.inf, sfmatalk.sys, sfmmon.dll, sfmatmsg.dll, sfmwshat.dll, sfmpsprt.dll
If they can not be found you need to unhide hidden and system files.
Copy the files to their respective places:
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\INF\netatlk.inf
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\sfmatalk.sys
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmatmsg.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmmon.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmwshat.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRTPROCS\W32X86\sfmpsprt.dll
AppleTalk Protocol should now be available under the list of Protocols you can add in Network Connections - Local Area Connections Properties
This is only good using AppleTalk printers attached to the network. The AppleTalk printer will show up, if it's turned on, under Add Printer-Local printer attached to this computer - create a new port - AppleTalk Printing devices.
For more info see: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/s agadd_appletalkport.mspx (you do not need to capture the port for the printer to work)
If you can not get access to these files, make your email address visable in your user profile and I will send them to you."

  • Can not cancel print job hp officejet 8500 in windows 8

I can not cancel print job for a HP officejet 8500 in windows 8
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
From the Desktop, hold down the Windows key and press R.  Into the Run window, type services.msc and hit enter.  Browse down to the print spooler service, right click it and select Properties then click on the Stop button.  Now browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS and delete the job inside this folder - You may need to click a prompt to gain the appropriate authority to open the PRINTERS folder.
Restart the computer and you should find the document(s) have been removed.

  • Cannot connect my Officejet 8500 a909a to my HP Pavilion dv7 Windows 7 64-bit

I have never been able to setup my Officejet 8500 A909a printer using my HP Pavilion dv7 Windows 7 Home Premiun notebook PC. After enumerable attempts I gave up and just used a thumb drive to transfer my printing from my notebook to my old tower PC and printed it from there. Well, my tower died and I really need to be able to print and scan from my notebook. I installed/uninstalled/reinstalled the latest printer driver with no liuck. I have also tried using the HP Print and Scan Doctor. It tells me I don't have all the needed software but when I click on Install, it fails too. Any suggestions?

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @michaeldq
I read your post about the issues you've had with installing your Officejet 8500 A909a printer on your Windows 7 system. I understand it fails however, could you send me a screen shot or more information about the failure? You may see a Fatal Error message and a code when you look at the error logs.
In the meantime, you can try a Clean Boot, restart the PC, temporarily disable any Firewalls and/or Anti-Virus' you have running.
Try running the installation again. Go back into the Clean Boot options to enable the start up programs again.
Please keep me posted on the results and info!

  • HP Officejet pro 8500 won't print and keeps asking for a proxy setting. Help.

HP Officejet pro 8500 won't print and keeps asking for a proxy setting. Help.

    Hi,
Can you confirm that you have an Officejet 8500a or Officejet 8500? On the 8500a model, you can set the networks proxy address and port setting from the front panel of the printer (setup>Webservices setup>proxy). If you are unsure what your proxy settings are you'll need to contact your network admin. If your network uses a proxy users name and password for all devices, you need to enter this information along with the proxy address and port in the printers embedded web server. Type the products IP address into an internet brownser window (printer must be connected to the same network as PC). Select the network tab, and than look for the proxy settings option. Enter in the information and click apply. Once the networks proxy information has been correctly inputed into the embedded web server, try printing again. If unsuccessfully, you might try reinstalling the printer software after uninstalling it. Hope this helps!

  • Constant Printing Restart on a networked HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909N Series printer

    Hello,
I'm curious if anyone has run into this problem before.  I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n Series printer that I have setup as a network printer.  This has been accomplished through a print server.
I installed the printer's drivers based upon the cd that came with the printer, in the box.
The problem is that whenever a user prints, say it's a simply one page document... the printer will repeatedly print that single page until it runs out of paper.  I have stopped/restarted the print spooler.  I've rebooted the printer and the print server.  I have deleted the drivers and readded them.  I've tried installing drivers from HP's website and then installing those.  I have attempted to delete the printer from the server and start from scratch.
When I monitor the print queue, I can see the service restart after each document prints.  I can't figure out how to get this to stop.
Does anyone have a suggestion; or has anyone run into this problem?  I'm not sure which forum to put this in.  I chose the Networks/Wireless forum, even though this is running on a wired network with wireless disabled.
    I certainly appreciate any asistance.
    -Craig

It ended up being an issue with the port.  I had used the same port as the last HP printer that I replaced.  This printer needs to run on a TCP/IP port, and not an HP port.
    Problem solved.
Oh, and it was wired, with wireless disabled.

  • OfficeJet 8500 Pro A910 display freezed on "Printing in progress"

    Hi,
I've a problem with my OfficeJet 8500 Pro A910. When I send a file to print the print queue on PC shows "Print error" and on the printer display appears "Printing in progress" but nothing is printed. At this point I must switch off the printer, wait some seconds, switch on the printer and send again the file to the printer, so the file is finally printed.
The printer is plugged by wired network and I've the same error on Windows 8 and Windows 7 PC. Why?

Hello and thank you for your update.
In my honest opinion and from my experience working in this field, it could be anything at this point. Your printer may be having an issue where the screen is freezing when you send a command to the printer.
You want to try everything before you determine it's your printer that is at fault.
Make sure you have this printer plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector?
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall your software? (To make sure that's not a possible cause)
How long have you been experiencing this issue for?
Also, try a hard reset. Click here to perform this step.

  • Printing on HP OfficeJet 8500 Wireless

I want to print on my HP OfficeJet 8500 Wireless printer from an ipad2.  I just took the latest upgrade for my printer from HP.  My ipad2 will not find my printer on our wireless sytem.  Ihave Blue Tooth activated onmy ipad.  When I try to print from my ipad, I press "Select Printer" and it ends up not finding any available printers wirelessly.  I have wireless conectivity with my laptop so I know wireless is working.
I spent a long time on the phone with ipad support.  They told me that my printer seems to be compatible and that my printer should show up so it can be paired with the computer.
So my questions are, does the HP OfficeJet 8500 have Blue Tooth?  Is my printer really compatible with an ipad2?
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Firstly please check to see if your printer in the list:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
If YES, you can use this to fix/setup:
    iPad: http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/airprint/
    iPhone: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/airprint/
If NO you have to print using other apps (if applicable) such as

  • Printer Control iPad app can't find OfficeJet 8500 909g even though HP ePrint can

The HP Printer Control app for iPad can't find the HP OfficeJet 8500 909g. The printer is properly connected to the wireless network and was found easily by the HP ePrint iPad app (and by my computer's utility and scan apps). But when that ePrint app suggested I use the Printer Control to do mobile scanning, the  PC app still couldn't find the printer.

    Hi,
This is an expected behavior as only ePrint enabled devices are supported by the HP PRinter Control app, the specific model is not supported as you may listed below within the full chart of any supported products for the different mobile apps:
