Officejet 8600 CM749A on mac os lion

I ORIGINALLY SETUP THE 8600 ON MY WIRELESS NETWORK. HOW DO I SWITCH TO A ETHERNET CONNECTION?

This may be easier and more thorough:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Fax
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

  • Unable to Wireless Print to OfficeJet 8600 Pro with Mac OSX 10.5.8

I am running MacBook Pro with OSX 10.5.8 and I am unable to print wirelessly to my new OfficeJet 8600 Pro.
I can setup the printer just fine, but when I send a job to print, it just sits in the queu and does nothing after "processing" the pages, etc.
I've tried a few different setup installers, including this one.
It's a slightly older mac (2.3 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) running OSX 10.5.8.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

    Hello dpipitone,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you are having some problems printing and scanning wirelessly on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 with your Mac running 10.5.8. When you installed the software and drivers for your 8600, did it tell you it was successful and print a test page? Also can you let me know the Exact model of 8600 you are using?
I would like you to follow the troubleshooting steps listed here: Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue, once on this page please select your Mac OS X, and continue from there.
Let me know if this was successful, I will watch for your reply.

  • OfficeJet 8600 Premium - Faxes Only Printing from Tray 2

I'm running into an issue with an OfficeJet 8600 Premium on OS X (Lion), but this shouldn't be OS specific.
It appears that incoming faxes are requiring tray 2, even though the default tray is set to 1 and the media lock is off. The printer reports that it's out of paper, even though Tray 1 is full.
I've removed the lower tray assy, checked the paper size settings within the trays, set the default to 2 and back to 1, set the media lock on 2 with the default on 1, rebooted the printer and computer, but nothing seems to make a change in how incoming faxes are printed.
I am successfully able to print from tray 1 with normal print jobs. For some reason, the fax portion of the printer just defaults to tray 2, and I can't find where I can reset that to tray 1...or to follow the defaults of the machine.
    Any thoughts?

so you are telling me the default is tray2 only and the software does not allow you to choose like ALL prior hp!!!!  This is the dumbest software i have ever seen...i have stuggled with this for over a year to only hear that hp decided what i should do!!!!  all my programs select tray 1 for regular paper and tray 2 for medical claims!  yes it is used for two different types of paper....i do not want to change hundreds of documents because hp decided where i should default print and fax from!  is there a fix to allow me the user to select where i would like things printed from....thanks....how stupid are you hp!!!!  why would you take away choices so basic as to where a fax is printed from.....

  • Can't scan in color from HP Officejet 8600 anymore

Previously, when i have used "scan to computer," the scanner would automatically scan in color when i chose "Save as PDF."  Somehow, that default setting has been changed, and now if i want to scan a color document, i have to choose "everyday scan," which i think produces a much bigger file. Any advice as to how to get back to my previous default color settings with "Save as PDF?"   I mainly use a Mac with OS X 10.10. Thanks!

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I noticed that you cannot scan in color from HP Officejet 8600 anymore on Mac OS X 10.10. I am happy to help you with your scanning! Let's start by trying to reset the printing system, and we will see what happens!  Hope this resolves your issue!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • Will my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless work with the new Mac OS Lion

Will my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless work with the new Mac OS Lion

My experience with upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion is that the OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless will print just fine, although it seems to take a little longer to find the printer on the network. My scan function however locks up and will not work. This really is an annoyance, though, since I have VueScan, which works fine with Lion.
Hopefully, Apple and HP will not orphan the OS native scanning feature for HP multifunction printers.

  • Officejet 8600 Plus "scanner reported error" Mac scanning

I recently purchased the Officejet 8600 Plus and have run into problems scanning. When scanning using the ADF, I frequently get a message saying, "Scanner reported an error. The scan was not completed because the operation was cancelled while scanning was in progress." The only way to escape from this situation is to turn off the OJ, power it back on, and then try scanning again. I haven't seen the issue using the flatbed, but I've used the ADF far more than the flatbed. This happens both when connected via wifi and USB, so it's not a networking problem. I have tried scanning via Apple's Image Capture as well as HP Scan and I get the error using both. I have all the latest software and firmware for both the Officejet and my Mac. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HP software, to no avail. This situation is tremendously frustrating as one of the main reasons I purchased this product was the wifi scanning feature. Without a solution to this problem I will consider this product to be defective and will return it. So, any suggestions as to how to alleviate the problem? Thanks. System info: Macbook Pro 17" (early 2011)OS X 10.8.5

I have an HP MF127fw connected to Mac computers and am experiencing exactly the same problem. Scans from the ADF always fail with that same "scan canceled" message. Preview, Image Capture, or Scan from Print & Scan all receive the same error. USB or WiFi connections make no difference. What is wrong with the HP connection? Here it is 2015 and there have been over 200 viewers of the original posting regarding the inability to scan. Hasn't anyone found a way to overcome this problem?

  • Hp officejet 8600 can't print two sided from adobe reader in Mac 10.8.4

    HP officejet 8600
    Mac notebook osx 10.8.4
Can't print 2 sided from pdf in adobe reader.
Print command from file dropdown doesn't open
Print expanded dialog box at bottom of pdf in adobe doesn't show a 2 sided option
    Thanks
    vso

    Hi,
Please follow the steps below in order to automatically print two-sided print jobs:
    1. Verify the duplex-printing accessory has been installed properly. To verify this open the System Preferences and go to Print & Fax. Open the print queue of your printer. Click on Printer Setup and from the tab menu choose Driver. Verify the box next to HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked.
    2. On the File menu, select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click Show details to see all available settings.
Note: If you use Adobe Reader, click teh button to launc the system print dialog.
    3. In the expanded Print window you will find next to Copies the checkbox for Two-Sided. Check the box.
NOTE: If the checkbox does not appear within the specific application print dialog, skip this step.
    4. To select the binding type click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
    5. Select Layout from the drop-down menu.
    6. Set the Two-Sided option as Long-Edge binding (Portrait), or Long-Edge binding (landscape).
You may save the settings for future use by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset... Any used preset will remain default till another preset will be used.

  • Officejet 8600 won't pull from Tray 2 after Mac OS update

I recently installed the Mac OSX 10.10 Yosemite update.  Immediately after, my HP Officejet 8600 all-in-one would not pull from the optional second tray.  There is a 10/22/14 driver update that says it is for OSSX 10.10, but does not fix the problem.  After trying every single solution I could think of, including deleting all printers from my system, repairing permissions, installing the new driver, uninstalling and re-installing the second tray, among other things, nothing worked.
The problem appears to be that every time I print, it unselects the "Optional Paper Tray Input" setting from the OS settings.  One work around is to go in and make sure that box is checked each time I print, which is a pain and only works about 80% of the time.
The printer is an office printer and Tray 1 is envelopes.  While I could put regular paper in Tray 1, that would be unfair to the other people in the office who use the printer and would need to manually do an envelope each time.
I called HP support and they basically told me that it was a bug that was not currently fixed.  They said they would e-mail me when a new updated driver is released (I'll be holding my breath for that).  I'm posting this here hoping that admins notice it and get moving on that update so that I can get my printer back.

I have the same problem as everyone else in this thread.  I've been on another thread, here:  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Issues-Troubleshooting/HP-8600-won-t-print-from-tray-2-in-upda... .
I have spent hours of time on the phone and in chat sessions with HP, then Apple, and then HP again.  The HP reps made it clear that the problem is in the HP update that was issued to work with OS 10.10, and that a fix would be coming soon.  That was over a month ago, and still nothing.
Since HP reps seem to monitor this thread, could someone from HP inform us as to when there will be a solution?  The last HP software update for this printer was October 22nd, so you've had plenty of time to fix this problem, which HP has repeatedly promised to do, but failed to do.

  • Officejet 6500 scanner not recognized after driver upgrade with Mac OS Lion

I have an Officejet 6500 E709n. Using Mac OS Lion 10.7.5 all software is updated.
I was having printing issues so I "reset printing system" thru Mac System Preferences and uninstalled my print drivers that originally came with the printer from HP. I am using the drivers updated by Mac OS Lion.  The printing problem was solved! Sadly, I now have no scanning capability. I have followed many suggestions on scanning that I've found here on the forum, but my system no longer recognizes my printer as a scanner. The scan option is not even visible under the "print and scan" window in system pref. (I used to be able to click "print" or "scan" buttons on the printer window but even now there are no buttons giving those options).
Thanks for your help and time!

    Hi,
As I understand from your email that you are unable to scan from the MAC OS X System, this is due to the software issue, so we need to uninstall and reinstall the completed software,
Please follow the steps below and let us know how it was.
Step 1:- Run the Scrubber to uninstall the previously installed HP printer drivers
     • Double click on the Macintosh Icon.
     • Click on Application and then on Hewlett-Packard.
     • Click on HP Uninstaller.
     • Select the device and press and hold Control + Options + Command (Apple) keys on the keyboard.
     • Click on Uninstall.
     • You will get a popup window “Are you sure you want to uninstall all HP Software packages”.
     • Click on OK to continue.
Note: It will remove the software for all HP printers. If you have any other HP printer installed, you may have to reload the software and set up the printer again.
During the process of uninstall, it might prompt you to enter the password of your computer to continue with the uninstall process. Please enter the password and click on Continue.
Step 2: Download and install the latest software.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=bi-98080-2&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=
    Step 3: Add a Printer
    1. Click the Apple menu icon, and then click System Preferences on the drop-down menu.
    2. Click Printers & Scanners to open the printer’s folder.
    3. Click the plus sign (+).
    4. Select the product and from the print using option, from the drop down menu select the printer and not Airprinter, and then click the Add button.
    5. Follow onscreen instructions if any.
    6. After a few seconds, the product displays in the Printers list.
Step 4. Try Scanning through HP Scan Application.
Click on the Go Button on the top.
    Click on Applications.
    Click on HP Scan.
    Try Scanning and check.
Also check from Print and Scan.

  • Officejet 8600 wont print

I have two laptops connected wirelessly to my Officejet 8600, and it's worked just fine for months.  Now, neither of my computers recognize the printer when I try to print.  When I go in to devices in both, they show the printer as being the default.  One is a PC running Windows 7 Enterprise, and the other is a Mac.  What is going on?

What is the IP address of the printer, you can get it from the wireless test page. When you say the PC and Mac can recognize the Printer did you try to search the Printer again or it was always there... Looks like the IP address has changed

  • MACBOOK PRO SPORADICALLY PRINTS TO HP NEW OFFICEJET 8600 PLUS

I bought a brand new HP Officejet 8600 Plus and have been having sporadic printing problems.
    MacBookPro OSX 10.6.8
    Router:  Airport Extreme
    Wireless printing
I also have a PC with windows and have no problems printing at all using same wireless router.  When this has happened before, I have shut everything down, disconnected everything, reconnected everything, removed the printer from the macbook, added it back on and then it has worked.
This time - nothing - the document sits in the queue - says connected and . . . nothing!
    Please Help!

    Hi  @Lyn99
Since the issue does not arise when you print from the Windows computer, we know the issue is either related to the Mac or the router, not the printer. I will happily do all I can to help you figure out what the root cause of the issue is and with any luck resolve the issue!
This printer has something called Wireless Direct. Lets enable the wireless direct, which allows the printer to broadcast its own network, then add the Mac to the printers network and see if you can print. If you can print this way, we will know the issue is not the Mac, it is the network, and if you can not print well it is the Mac
On the front panel of the printer, go to the Setup menu by arrowing over to the wrench, then select Network and choose Wireless Direct. When you have turned on the Wireless Direct, go to the Mac and click on the Airport/wifi symbol and choose the printers network (it will say something like HP Print 8600 and part of the hardware address).
Once the Mac is on the printers network, try to print from the Mac. Let me know the outcome and we can go from there.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Want to save multiple printer settings using an OfficeJet 8600 and Windows7

I recently bought an OfficeJet 8600 to replace an old OfficeJet L7590. I'm dismayed to discover that the new 8600 does not have the ability to save multiple print configurations. Using the L7590, I was able to combine paper size, orientation, print quality, colour/B&W setting, duplex, etc. and save with a custom name. It was then easy to select from a range of preset configurations each time I printed. Now, on the 8600, I have to dig three layers into the menu and individually set each one of the options - EVERY TIME I PRINT! It seems that Mac users still have the ability to save configurations, at least in a limited way, but not Windows users. What gives?

The default settings can be set as follows:  Click Start, Devices and Printers, right click on the Officejet 8600 and select "Printing Preferences".  Make the changes you would like and Apply.
The L7590 driver is likely compatible with the Officejet 8600, you could also just  install the L7590 driver and change the "port" settings to point at the 8600.  You could then use the features you like...  Post back here if you want to try this out, I could provide more details.

  • HP Officejet 8600 pro plus

    Hi,
recently, I bought HP Officejet 8600 pro plus, and its firmware was CKP5CN1344ER, and I'd like to update its firmware into the version CLPXXXXXX, but in the HP Official site only supports the firmware version CLP1CN1322CR, that cannot do anything.
    question:
    1. can't I update  CKPXXX into CLPXXX version?
    2. How can I get the recent firmware support from Official site?
    Thank you for your help,

    Hi jxj9848,
The codes are different depending on how the unit received its last update, so don't worry about the different codes. The code you have CKP5CN1344ER is the latest version that was released through the Web Services menu via automatic updates. Is there a reason you were trying to obtaining an update? Are you experiencing an issue that I may be able to help you with?
If you require further assistance please post back with some additional information including your operating system and version, Mac or Windows?
