Officejet 8620, fail to print, windows 8.1 (upgraded from windows 8)

I have spent many hours trying to resolve an issue on a Dell Vostro laptop, that was upgraded from Windows 8 pro to Windows 8.1 pro and has the latest updates installed. When printing, the print is delivered to the print spooler, it is there momentarily, then disappears. Nothing is delivered to the printer, and no activity is observed at all on the printer. This is on 2 different 8620 printers. I am able to install and print to a laserjet M1217mfp from the laptop with no problems. A different machine that was loaded directly with windows 8.1 prints perfectly to the 8620 printers.
I have tried the following  with no success:
1) Install from original HP 8620 installation CD
2) HP Print and scan doctor - remove the print driver and download latest software . ( 3 times)
3) Manually deleting all printers, Stop spooler service, delete print driver from Print Server Properties, uninstall all HP software, reboot and install from latest print driver OJ8620-198 downloaded from this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL51217/bi-124140-4/OJ8620_198.exe
4) Same procedure as step 3, including stop spooler, rename C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3 to C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3.old. Reboot and install from latest driver as above.
5) Run level 4 on HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility from the link below and reinstall : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=za&lc=en&softwareitem=mp-110134-1
6) Same procedure as step 4, as well as removing printer registry keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Print Processors except "winprint" key. Delete all HP folders in C:\Program Files\HP. Reboot and reinstall latest driver.
7) Follow the manual procedure described in Microsoft KB2987964 "Cannot print by using a Hewlett Packard XPS-based print driver after you install KB2769165" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2987964 Version of hpbxpsrender.dll is 0.3.7600.16385 consistently through all of the steps listed.
9) Create a new local administrator account on the laptop. Follow the procedure in Step 6.
The issue seems to be that the spooler discards the print immediately and it also seems to be related to the upgrade from windows 8 to Windows 8.1 but only for Officejet Printers. The only option I have not tried yet is to format and reload the machine with Windows 8.1 Pro, but this is a drastic step to resolve a problem that should be resolved by HP based on the many reports posted on the Internet by users experiencing this issue on OfficeJet printers.
What can be done to resolve this?

Hi @Electronza ,
Thank you for providing all the detailed steps you have already tried to resolve this issue. I would like to help you out today.
I have provided a document with some steps for the Print Jobs Disappear from the Print Queue and Do Not Print (Windows 8). Go to Step 4: Rename the HPBXPSRENDER.DLL file, since you have already tried the other steps.
Please take a look at this document from my co-worker, if the issue persists. The driver installed might be the Class Driver and not the HP Full Feature drivers. Missing or partial print issues on Windows 8 / 8.1.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
Have a great weekend!
Thank You.

  • Bug Windows 8.1 upgrade from Windows 8 - Parental Control - Shift in Caldendar

    Hi,
since I have upgraded the PC of my son from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1,
I have discovered a bug regarding the parental control features.
Everything was working fine in Windows 8.
In Windows 8.1, the software has a shift regarding the settings for opening hours.
For instance if we are Monday, it will apply the settings of Tuesday.
The clock and calendar is obviously properly set
Is anyone has seen the same issue ?
    any fix ?
    Best Regards
    John

  • Scanner of HP 8500 A909g does not work after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10

After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and subsequent upgrade of printer software, the scanner functionality did not work. When I tried to uninstall the printer software I got the message "HP uninstaller has stopped working". After another upgrade of printer software the scanner was still not working. How can I get around this problem? Update:
I followed the instructions for a similar problem with Windows 8 on http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Scan-doesn-t-work-on-Solution-Center-after-migrating-to-Win/td-p/2228367.After this, the scanning seems to work. Not sure whether it is possible to uninstall, though (don't want to try since it is working).

I had the same problem with my Officejet Pro 8600 All-in-One scanner, sfter upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer driver, the problem is solved. You can look up the model of your printer on HP's support site and download it from there. Apparently, not all printers are compatible with Windows 10. In that case, they recommend you buy a new printer. ;-)

  • How do I restore a Windows 8.1 system image if I upgraded from Windows 8?

I have a new HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC 15-j003cl.
It came with Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 8.1.
I created the HP Recovery USB flash drive.
From my reading I understand that the recovery USB flash drive is Windows 8 not 8.1.
    My question is:
Can I restore a Windows 8.1 System Image Backup I made on a USB hard drive using the Windows 8 recovery USB flash drive?
Or, to put it another way, what is the recommended procedure to back up an upgraded Windows 8.1 computer so, in the event of hard-drive failure, I don't have to start with Windows 8, upgraded to 8.1, re-install all my apps?
    Thanks
    Kirk

OK here's where I am now and a few followup questions,
    Started with Windows 8.
Upgraded from Windows Store to Windows 8.1
Installed lots of apps and got everything running the way I like.
I created a full system image of my upgraded 8.1 hard drive to an external USB hard drive.
I have successfully created a recovery boot USB flash.  (did not copy recovery partition) I can restart the computer from
it and navigate up to the point where it will restore my system image made after I upgraded to 8.1.  (I don't want to risk
trying it for fear it will mess up my computer)
Assume my hard drive failed and I have a new blank hard drive:
My question is at this point does it matter that this was originally a windows 8 (not 8.1) computer?
Will I be able to restore the image of 8.1?
Does it matter which version of Windows I created the recovery boot USB flash on?  ( I can't tell when it boots from the
recovery USB flash if it is running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
I wish there was a way to test this without risking losing all the work I have done to configure the computer??
    Thanks,
    Kirk

  • Windows 8.1 Update from Windows 8 Giving Error Message During Installation

I was instructed to use a generic Windows 8.1 key, and then change it to my Windows 8 key after installation. But, at either 94% or 96%, it gives me the following error during the installation:
    Windows 8.1 Update has failed.
I have tried everything online and can't find anyway around it. In the meantime, all of my Windows Store apps are broken, and thus I can't update from the Windows Store. I have the correct ISO files from http://microsoft.com/ and I even have the option to
install Windows 8.1 from a program that was automatically added to the "Classic Start Menu" that was presumably placed by Windows automatically. No matter how I attempt to install it, it fails. I would really appreciate it if someone would help me
    soon.
    Thank you,
    Ben

    Hi,
I was instructed to use a generic Windows 8.1 key, and then change it to my Windows 8 key after installation.
    What's the meaning of it?
Did you update from Windows 8 operating system from Window store?
Please locate to %WINDIR%\Panther, see if there is any clue in the setupact.log and setuperr.log.
Meanwhile, please refresh or reset your original Windows 8 system to ensure it's complete and correct.
Then retry to update to Windows 8.1 from Windows Store.

  • Useful Benefits of Upgrading From Windows 7 Pro to 10 Pro?

We'll for IT supporting business; for the most part Windows 7 is still far superior to Windows 8.x.Windows 10 will have to make good on the promise of better and more effective security features, getting the touch interface out of our faces and putting the start menu back in place.I've been using Win 10 for some time now and it does look promising, but there are still a lot of bugs in it; bugs that make using it far more hassle than it's worth. Even with all of the current problems, it's still slated to be released at the end of this month. 8.1; like Vista had only a few benefits, which were far overshadowed by it's many drawbacks which made businesses retain Windows XP and 7 by more than 85%. Ultimately, Microsoft still has a lot to prove to its weary customers, so let's hope they deliver this time, or else Windows 7 will follow in...

With our Windows 8.1 systems, the things I noticed as improvements over Windows 7 were:Faster shutdown without frequent hanging apps preventing and delaying PC shutdown and reboot.Better Windows Update experience.Better/faster file transfer/copy with much less issues of slow and failed file copies of large folders and long paths.Desktop search works better/faster.Hyper-V built into the OS can be useful for some people, but may need to be blocked to not facilitate rogue unmanaged VMs on the network.Bitlocker included in Windows 8.1 Pro, but requires Enterprise in Windows 7.May be more stable with in general.
That's all I noticed and can think of off hand.I assume Windows 10 will have at least all the same benefits of Windows 8, but with a more familiar Start Menu. Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 would require paying for new...

  • Probook 470 windows 8.1 upgrade to windows 10, any driver compatible issue?

Probook 470 windows 8.1 upgrade to windows 10, any driver compatible issue?

    Hi,
First I assume there is a bluetooth module inside your computer.
If so please test to reinstall its driver. To get a driver for the device, you need to know the brand and model of your computer or your motherboard.
Generally computer manufacturers will provide all drivers for their computers on their website. Search with your computer model on manufacturer's website could help you get a proper driver. If failed, search your motherboard from its manufacturer instead
    will also help.
After that, uninstall your bluetooth module from Device Manager and install the driver you just downloaded, reboot to see the result.

  • Upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 won't sync to 5G iPod Nano

I recently had my PC upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7.  Prior to the upgrade, all my Apple devices interfaced well with iTunes (11.0).  After the upgrade occured, I reinstalled iTunes (11.0.1.12), imported my iTunes library file and synchronized with all my devices.  All of them synced (iPhone 4 (work), iPhone 5 (personal), iPad 2), except my 5G iPod Nano.  It causes iTunes to freeze as soon as it is recognized.  Becuase it freezes immediately, I am unable to restore the iPod or change to mamage my music manually.  The OS upgrade took place about 6 weeks ago and I would like to resync my iPod and change out some of my music.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Customer Service would not accept XP Laptop under "Upgrade from Windows XP" promotion

I was told by customer service at my local store (Store 199) that my old XP laptop was not eligible to trade in under the "Upgrade from Windows XP" promotion because the battery was no good.  The laptop powered on and successfully booted up.  According to the fine print for this promotion, "Device must power on to be considered working."  I could not find any wording that the battery had to be good and the associate would not or could not point me to this specific exclusion either.
I realize the laptop is old and would only qualify for the $25 gift card and $75 coupon.  Is there anything that can be done to get this laptop traded in under this promotion?

    Greetings siggy228,
Expecting to receive the promotion without any issues would be exciting, but that much more disappointing if you found out otherwise upon a visit to the store. While the promotion details state a few specific situations that would be common for a unit to not qualify, it does state that not all products are eligible for the promotion. I am sorry for any disappointment that this promotion may have caused you.
That being said, it would make sense that your laptop would have to power on without being plugged in for it to be considered working as CrimsonRain suggested. Can you elaborate on what is wrong with your battery that it would cause your laptop to not be eligible? Does it need the AC adapter to power on?
Any additional information you may be able to share would be greatly helpful in my research of your issue!

  • Upgrading from windows vista to windows 7

I am upgrading from windows vista to windows 7. The upgrade I am using is going to delete all of the information I currently have on my hard drive.
I have itunes set up with all of the correct artist/album/track/cover image information for my files. I also have consolidated all of these tracks to an external hard drive - no mp3s in itunes are stored on my local hard drive. I consolidated these tracks after I edited all of the artist/album/track/cover image information.
My questions is this. Once I reinstall itunes on windows 7, when I import these tracks from the external hard drive - are the edits to the files (artist/album/track/cover image information) going to be shown in itunes like they were prior to the windows upgrade? I have a large number of tracks that I have invested a huge amount of time into and I really don't have the time or patience to duplicate the effort.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Upgrade from Windows Home Server 2011

Even though Windows Server 2012 Essentials is being mentioned as a replacement for Windows Home Server 2011, there doesn't seem to be any documentation or mention of can you upgrade from Windows Home Server 2011 to Windows Server 2012 Essentials?
Will this work with the beta download and will we then be able to upgrade this version to the RC and/or release version?
As you may guess I have a Windows Home Server 2011 and am interested in looking at Windows Server 2012 Essentials to see what it offers me. The storage spaces sounds exactly what I want to replace the drive extender on the previous home server version. The
problem is that I don't mind sacrificing my present server box by installing the beta but it would be nice if it actually retained what settings it could via an upgrade option, which I could then have a chance of using with a proper release version.

Just clarifying about the 'upgrade path' and 32b vs 64b.
Yes, no in-place upgrade. However, one could theorise about some form of 'migration' being possible, where the list of users, the content of your shares, the current backups, would be 'moved' from old box to new.
I was in fact pretty sure no such process existed. (Wouldn't it be neat though? AND in future _at least theoretically_ possible, using processes similar to SBS AD migration.)
From this perspective putting the new box onto the network is similar to replacing WHSv1 with WHS11, in that nothing is carried over. No gain, but no lesser. Working on currently available information.
The later comment about the work laptop is, TTBOMK, a resounding 'NO'. When attempting to join a member of another AD the 'connect' process stated 'You must 1st remove the PC from the other AD'. I haven't tested this extensively but believe that PC's _capable_
of operating in an AD (Pro, vs Home, versions) will be made members of the WS12E AD. It is only PC's that do not have 'domain join' capability that are left in workgroup mode.
    TTBOMK, AFAICS, so far, etc...
