Officejet 8620 pro

I have a client with multiple 8620 printers at several locations.  At one particular location, when I attempt to run the device setup software, choose the printer (the software sees it just fine), the install fails about halfway through (according to the green progress bar).  No error message.  I have run all the diagnostic software available, downloaded an ran the print and scan doctor (which only kicks of the failing install software (GRRH!!!)). I've uninstall McAfee Security Scan, Norton Antivirus and turned off the firewall for local networks, all to no avail.  Naturally, the customer is questioning why can't I make it work at this location when the very same printer or an 8600 is working at 3 other locations? Suggestions?  I know I can setup the printer as a 'printer', not a multifunction device.  However, he wants to be able to scan to his computer.
Thanks!

  • Officejet 8620 don't print on Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I purchased a Officejet 8620 to replace an Officejet 8600 PRO irreparably damaged by lightning.
The printer is connected via wired ethernet.
I installed the software on the CD on a HP laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate and the printer, scanner and fax machine worked perfectly.
I repeated the installation on a PC laptop with Windows 8.1, the installation was successful, but only the fax and scanner worked, the printer does not print even the test page.
I disabled firewall and antivirus (Kaspersky Internet Security 14) and repeated several times to install but always with the same result.
I performed "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that does not detect any problems.
I also run "sfc / scannow" but to no avail.
    My user type is Administrator.
Only if I access the printer properties in as "Administrator" I can get print a test page.
I added my user to the list of authorized users all'utlizzo printer, but without success.
I downloaded from the HP website the latest versions of drivers and firmware, but the print does not work.
At the same PC and 'also connected a printer, on the same Ethernet network, HP LaserJet CP1515n with driver
"HP Universal Printing PCL 6" that works perfectly.
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thanks.

  • Windows 8.1 slow printing on 8620 Pro

Just bought the 8620 printer to replace a HP 6500a.  When printing from Windows 8.1 it will print about a thrid of the page and pause, print a couple more lines and pause, the print the rest of the page.  It does this with every page.   I have uninstalled the HP 6500a software and the 8620 software (remopved all HP software), then re-booted.  I used the HP installation wizard to detect and install the printer software and still have the same issue.  HP Print and Scan Doctor indicates no issues.  I have tried printing with the printer using a wireless connection and with the printer plugged in Ethernet with the same results.  6500 printer works correctly on Windows 8.1.  There is only one version of the printer driver/software for this printer.  The printer is running the latest firmware available.   Windows 8.1 is up to date for all available updates from Windows update. From a Windows 7 64bit OS there are no issues, prints correctly no issues. Windows 8.1 laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15R (5537, Mid 2013) running Windows 8.1 64bit with 8GB memory.
Windows 7 laptop is a Dell Latitude E6520 running Windows 7 enterprise 64bit with 8GB memory.

Hey , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  I understand that you're not able to print from your Windows 8 computer to your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. In the fix that I provided about altering the driver, you need to download the HP Officejet 8600 driver package, not the HP Officejet 8620 package. That's why you're not seeing the OJ 860  files. Please follow the steps below to correct this issue.  Step one: Run Microsoft Fix It Tool:  Because you're not able to print anything from your Windows 8 computer there is a chance that an Operating System issue is occuring. Recently Microsoft has released a Hot Fix to correct 'Offline' and 'Partial Printing' issues within the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems as they deem this as an issue within the Operating System itself that affects multiple printer makes and models. Therefore, to start troubleshooting I would like you to install the Hot Fix. Please click here  to download the Hot Fix. Once the website opens select the button for Hotfix Download Available. Please follow any onscreen steps to install the Hotfix. Once the Fix has been successfully installed please test printing again. Should the printing issue persist, please proceed to the next step.    Step 2: Clear Temp Files: Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard to the right of the Ctrl buttonIn the Start screen type Run. Click on Run to launch the Run dialogue box.In the Run box type %temp% and select OKWhen the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.Close the Temp folder once it is emptiedRight click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin  Step 3: Download Alternate Driver: Please click here to download the basic driver packageOnce the download is complete the installer will extract and the installer may pop openShould an installer pop open please close it  Step 4: Add Alternate Driver: Open your Start screen by either by selecting the Windows button in the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your keyboard to the left of the Ctrl button
In the Start screen type Run. Click on Run to launch the Run dialogue box.In the Run box type %temp% and select OKWhen the Temp folder opens locate the 7z and click on it to open itIf you scroll through this folder there should be files that show 'OJ860'. Ensure the OJ860 shows and not the OJ862 files. If you see any OJ862 files, go back to the Temp folder and open the other 7z folder that is in there to ensure you're in the folder with the OJ860 files.Once you're in the correct 7z folder, locate the file path bar at the top. It should show something like: Local Disk (C) - Users - AppData - Local - Temp - 7z . . .  Left click on the right hand side of this file path bar and everything will highlight. Right click on the highlighted file path and left click on Copy.Close the Temp folderReopen the Start screen. In the Start Screen type 'Devices and Printers'In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer and left click on Printer PropertiesLeft click on the Advanced tabLeft click on New DriverWhen the New Driver window opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.Select the 'Have Disk' button on the bottom right hand sideAn 'Install from Disk' window will open. There is a section to 'Copy manufacturer's files from:' box. Right click in this box and paste in the file path we previously copiedSelect OKSelect the Officejet 8600Hit Next to complete the driver wizardUnder the Printer Properties window select 'Apply' but don't hit OKSelect the General tabRename your printer back to HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One PrinterHit OK Once your printer is installed with the Officejet 8600 series driver, please try printing again to verify if the issue is now resolved. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. • HP officejet 8620 lost connection to computer

My new HP Officejet Pro 8620 is giving me a message that no computer can be found to send scans to.
Everything has worked fine up until today. Tried the usual off/on reboot, nothing seems to establish connection.
    What should I do next?

    Hi @panheadgreg,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are not able to scan with your HP Officejet 8620, when you attempt the scan you get a 'Computer not found' error message.
I would first like you to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor > www.hp.com/go/tools - It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.
Let me know what the PSDR finds, if you are still running into the communication error please continue here: A 'Computer Not Found' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays during Scanning
I hope this helps, let me know the outcome I will watch for your reply.

  • OfficeJet 8500 Pro A910 display freezed on "Printing in progress"

    Hi,
I've a problem with my OfficeJet 8500 Pro A910. When I send a file to print the print queue on PC shows "Print error" and on the printer display appears "Printing in progress" but nothing is printed. At this point I must switch off the printer, wait some seconds, switch on the printer and send again the file to the printer, so the file is finally printed.
The printer is plugged by wired network and I've the same error on Windows 8 and Windows 7 PC. Why?

Hello and thank you for your update.
In my honest opinion and from my experience working in this field, it could be anything at this point. Your printer may be having an issue where the screen is freezing when you send a command to the printer.
You want to try everything before you determine it's your printer that is at fault.
Make sure you have this printer plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector?
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall your software? (To make sure that's not a possible cause)
How long have you been experiencing this issue for?
Also, try a hard reset. Click here to perform this step.
Let me know your troubleshooting steps and I will continue to assist you further.

  • Does the Officejet 8600 Pro Premium N911n printer perform auto tray selection?

I have an Officejet 8600 Pro Pemium N911n printer,  CN577A with two trays. My Operating Sysem is Win8,64bit,there are no error messages, no system changes.
The HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in One series User Guide states that By default, the printer draws media from Tray1.If Tray1 is empty, the printer draws media from Tray2(if it is installed and loaded with media. I have Tray lock disabled ,Tay1 the default Tray and Automatic Tray Selection enabled.Prior to making these selections,I contacted HP support via email to report that this option was not working. I received a response that there is no method that will automatically select a tray when one tray is empty. The User 's manual states otherwise..This option might not work but it is part of this series of printers. I have both trays loaded and I will determine if it works after Tray1 is empty. Does anyone have one of these printers and the auto Tray function works? Thanks.

  • Problem with HP Officejet 8620 (just bought it) not sure if Printer or wireless issue.

Alright so hopefully I have put this in the right forum.
I just bought an HP Officejet 8620, and set it up. It printed the test pages fine yet upon trying to print homework it would dissapear in the Print Queue while saying it was "printing". Thus nothing has come out of the printer except test pages so I am in a bit of a bind.
Now the computer brought up a trouble shoot issue stating "problem with wireless network".
To give some back ground on this issue our previous printer HP Officejet 6500A about a month ago starting printing abnormally slow, and eventually reached a crawl not doing anything.
So im not totally lost, yet as of now do not know what is going on.

    Hello Libertine74,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some connectivity issues when attempting to print wireless.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also located a document that deals with when the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Please feel free to write me back if you have any other questions or concerns.

  • Wired and Wireless Connections to OfficeJet 8620?

We have a small wired Ethernet network.  We are planning to install an HP OfficeJet 8620 multi-function printer tomorrow.  I understand that for a wired-only Ethernet network, I would just connect the OfficeJet to our router, then install the drivers on each workstation.
Unfortunately, our situation is more complicated than that.  Several people want to use wireless devices to print to the OfficeJet 8620.  We have a working wireless network in place, and the wireless devices are able to access it without problem..
All devices on the network (wired and wireless) use the same router, which has both wired Ethernet ports and wireless capability.  So, everything is on the same network, going through the same router.
From reading the 8620 documentation, it looks like you can only have a wired OR a wireless connection, but not both.  Apparently connecting a CAT-5 cable to the Ethernet port on the printer disables the wireless capability of the printer.
If that is correct, what can we do to enable both wired computers and wireless mobile devices to print to the 8620, given the network structure I have described above?
Thanks very much for any assistance you can offer.

  • Looking for OfficeJet 8600 pro plus replacement paper trays

Where can I purchase replacement paper trays for the OfficeJet 8600 Pro Plus printer?
I am NOT looking for the add-on paper tray unit, but a replacement for the primary tray. We shuffle various types of paper and envelopes in and out of the tray throughout the day, and we would instead like to keep several extra trays loaded with specialty paper to reduce wear on the primary tray.
    Suggestiosn?

I searched in the online stores available by HP and was unable to find this part.  However, I was able to find that the part is available through HP Tech Support by calling in.
Click here to access the full list of HP Tech Support contact numbers.
The part number is CM749-60036 for the main tray assembly for the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.  This part is, currently, around $25 usd, but prices are subject to change.

Hi, a few weeks ago i brough an officejet 8620 and have been able to use it over usb just fine. I have since installed wifi and wish to use the printer over the wireless network; however the print will not install. The driver package finds the printer correctly but wont install it:  I have tried disabling windows firewall and AV software to no avail. I see that you're having an issue getting your Officejet 8500 scanning on Windows 8.1. I will do my best to help you with this issue.
Did you upgrade to 8.1 from an older version of Windows?
If so, with it not scanning correctly. You can try just removing the HP Solution Center from programs and features.
Go to the bottom left corner of your screen right click on the Windows icon> go to Control Panel> Go to Programs> uninstall Solution Center if it's listed.
Next, instead of using the printer install wizard. Download the software from this link: HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver. Let it run through, it should prompt to " add more software". This should allow you to reinstall Solution Center.
If you run into issues, there is something you may have to do. If you get a file missing error here, or the install hangs check your computer for the following.
McAfee Live Safe - Disable the "Realtime Scanning".
Check for and remove HPOINS*.dat or HPWINS*.dat. Here is a link to a post by JonW on how to do this: Re: installer setup hangs under Windows 8.1.
Try all of this, and let me know how you make out. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Unable to Wireless Print to OfficeJet 8600 Pro with Mac OSX 10.5.8

I am running MacBook Pro with OSX 10.5.8 and I am unable to print wirelessly to my new OfficeJet 8600 Pro.
I can setup the printer just fine, but when I send a job to print, it just sits in the queu and does nothing after "processing" the pages, etc.
I've tried a few different setup installers, including this one.
It's a slightly older mac (2.3 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) running OSX 10.5.8.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

    Hello dpipitone,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you are having some problems printing and scanning wirelessly on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 with your Mac running 10.5.8. When you installed the software and drivers for your 8600, did it tell you it was successful and print a test page? Also can you let me know the Exact model of 8600 you are using?
I would like you to follow the troubleshooting steps listed here: Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue, once on this page please select your Mac OS X, and continue from there.
Let me know if this was successful, I will watch for your reply.
    Thank you,
    HevnLgh

  • FAX Setup for Officejet 8620 -- Auto Answer & Cord "Fail"

I have encountered two issues after setting up my new Officejet 8620.
I have followed instructions for connecting the printer, using the phone cord provided by HP.  Repeated tests insist "FAIL" for "Using Correct Type of Phone Cord with Fax." I have tried hard reset a couple of times with no change in test result.
The fax is working: I can send and receive faxes, but why the "FAIL"? I see from other forum messages that this is a common issue.
Second issue is that the Auto Answer is set to "ON," but the fax doesn't answer incoming calls. I get the message on the display screen giving me the options to "Ignore" or "Accept", and pushing "Accept" does result in the fax coming through, but I need the machine's "Auto Answer" function to work. The 8620 is not connected to an answering machine. It's connected directly to the phone wall jack. Also,I have disabled voicemail service on that phone line, so there shouldn't be anything interfering with Auto Answer.
I would be grateful for help resolving these problems.

Hello @hpuser24333, Welcome to the forums
I read your post about the concerns and issues you're running into with your Officejert 8620, and I wanted to reach out to share my suggestions with you.
I would recommend a factory reset on the printer, and to run through the fax set up again. I am hoping you won't run into the same problems again however, if you do, please give us a call.
On the printer, select the Setup Menu, Tools, Restore Factory Defaults, Yes, restart the printer.
When the power is back on select Setup, Fax Setup, Fax Setup Wizard, Yes, continue through the setup.
    I really hope this helps!
