Officejet copy and scanning problem

I have recently bought a new HP Officejet 5742 printer which has no trouble printing from my computer, iPad or mobile. However, when I ask it to copy or scan a document it tells me I have a "Scanner Problem".  I have been through all all the "Fix" and "Troubleshooting" solutions and there is no problem with my internet or bluetooth connections.  Occasionally it has copied for me but may stop or hang in the middle of a page.  I have brought the printer and computer HP Pavillion) back to my supplier and eventually they got it to work.  It also worked at home for me but after a short time the problem reappeared.  My system is using Windows 8.1.  The message on the printer reads"Scanner Problem""Turn the printer off, and turn it on again""If the problem persists, the scanner has become damaged and cannot copy or scan" As the printer is only one month old I would be grateful for any advice you could offer. Brian.

Hi , I read your post and see that you are getting a "scanner problem" error message. I would like to help you.
The scanner mechanism bulb might not turn on when trying to scan, copy, or fax.There are two main causes for this issue:It could be the scanner bulb temperature is too low or there is an internal or external electrical malfunction. I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. Please keep the scanner lid open and then press the copy button.Check if the scanner bulb glows.Check if the scanner moves freely across the glass. If the issue continues, please Contact HP Support for further assistance. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Thank You.

    I understand you are unable to reinstall the printer software.
    I will be happy to help you.
    The print spooler is part of the Windows operating system and if it doesn't stay running the printer software won't install or print.
    You could try the following steps to see if this will resolve the issue.
    Normally with spooler problems the first thing to do is to clear the print queue.
    Open a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type cmd and press Enter.
    Now type these commands, which are in capitals for clarity:
    NET STOP SPOOLER and press Enter
    DEL %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRINTERS\*.* and press Enter
    NET START SPOOLER and press Enter
    EXIT and press Enter
    If you are still having issues with the print spooler stopped then right click on the start button, left click on explore, open the windows folder, open system32 folder, open the spool folder, open the printer's folder, then delete everything on the right window.
    Then go back and try and start the print spooler again.
    Run a full uninstall of the printer software. Disconnect the USB cable.
    To uninstall from CD:
    Go start and select computer.
    Right click on the CD for the printer and left click open in a new window.
    Double click on uninstall.
    Uninstall printer from the C Drive.
    Go to start, computer, c:, windows, program files or program files x86, HP, printer name. Double click uninstall. Restart the computer.
    Check to make sure the print spooler is running.
    Ran the installation again. Don't connect the USB cable until prompted.
    If the print spooler stops again you will need to contact the computer manufacturer to resolve this issue.

  • Copy and Paste Problem in Dreamweaver CS5.5

    Hi All,
    I saw the posts for Dreamweaver CS4 for copy and paste problems. I tried all the suggestions but to no avail.  My copy and paste would not work. Then I found what worked for me...
    I went to Edit --> Keyboard Shortcuts --> and I changed from "Dreamweaver Standard" to "Dreamweaver Mx2004". For the moment, it is working.  I am on XP Professional.
    From the other posts the suggestions were...
    Switch to Classic Mode
    Delete the Configuration file
    Uncheck "Enable related files"
    It was a problem for sure, and hopefully I won't be back for this one  :-)  Good luck

    The problem has been solved by over writing the � font.properties � file in jre/lib/� .
    The changes given as follows:
    # Exclusion Range info.
    # exclusion.dialog.0=0500-20ab,20ad-ffff
    # exclusion.dialoginput.0=0500-20ab,20ad-ffff
    # exclusion.serif.0=0500-20ab,20ad-ffff
    # exclusion.sansserif.0=0500-20ab,20ad-ffff
    # exclusion.monospaced.0=0500-20ab,20ad-ffff
    That is, we comment the lines having Red foreground color.

  • C5280 prints black page when copying and scanning

    Can anybody help please.
    C5280 prints a black page when I want to copy or scan but it prints ok from the computer. The light seems to be working on it. I am unable to reinstall with the disc as the CD drive is not working now. Does it need to be reinstalled.

    I see by your post that you are getting a black page when copying and scanning from the printer. You can print fine and you updated the HP software, the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and you have the same results.
    I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
    I wasn't sure whether you just updated the printer software on the printer or the firmware.
    If you haven't already, please update the printer's firmware. HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer Drivers.
    Disconnect the USB or Ethernet cable from the printer.
    Make sure the printer is still connected directly to a 3 prong wall outlet.
    Try making a copy with a blank sheet.
    If the output is blank, then try and copy a text document.
    I will send you another step to try in a private message.
    In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
    How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet)

  • Black page when copying and scanning

    Hi,
    I have a HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP, all was working fine until I changed the ink cartridge two days ago.  Printing is fine but when I go to copy or scan I get a solid black page printed.  I've checked the light goes across when copying and scanning, tried switching off printer and on again, plugged it straight in to wall and updated all HP software.  Any ideas?

  • F4180 copy and scan button dont work

    my problem is:
    when i press buton copy or scan noting hapening  just power buton blink one time.
    I have only black ink cartrige and all print options works good.
    I can scan in windows other programs
    on printer icon ink (black and color blinking and copy screen showing "E" 
    i have new fresh windows 7 and new fresh drivers form official site.  What i can do with it ?

    I see that you are having an issue with the Power light flashing and the printer being none responsive when attempting to scan or copy.

  • Windows 8 + HP Officejet 6500 E709n, Scan problem

    After buying a new pc with Windows 8, the HP printer is not able to scan. After fixing the first error that occur (not recognizing the scannere at all), a new error occur. This time it says:
    "The scan can not be performed because the HP imaging device in a network and is used by another program or another computer. Please try again later"

    Both are not very helpfull in solving this problem. Tried the following:
    - Unistallen and reinstalling is not helping
    - Turning of the router printer pc is not helping
    - HP app has no scan option
    It seems that there are 2 solutions:
    1) Buying another printer which IS compatible with Windows 8
    2) Get another OS instead of Windows 8
    Both are not a real option. So, HP I hope you have a solution

    I would suggest doing a level 3 uninstall, restarting the Windows Installer and then reinstalling.
    Insert the installation CD in the computer.
    Click   Cancel  to close the autorun screen.
    On the Windowskeyboard, press  the Windows logo key, type  Run and tap Enter.
    Click   Browse.
    Find the drive that contains the software CD, and then double-click the drive.
    Click the   Util  folder, and then double-click the   CCC  folder.
    Double-click the file   Uninstall_L3.bat  .
    Click   OK  to run the level 3 uninstall.
    Restart the computer after the software removal process finishes.
    In the   Run  window, type  Msiexec /unregister,
    (there is a space before the forward slash [ / ] ) and then click  OK  .
    The  Run  window closes.
    Then,
    In the  Run window, type  Msiexec /regserver
    (there is a space before the forward slash [ / ] )  , and then click   OK  .
    The  Run  window closes.
    These steps can all be found Here, but I have copied only what you need.
    Now you can use the software CD that shipped with your product now to install, but for the most current software HP recommends downloading and installing the software from the HP Web site. If you have already downloaded the software, you do not have to download it again.

  • Fax and scan problem with Acrobat Reader DC

    My Acrobat Reader just updated to the new Reader DC program, and now I cannot send any faxes that contain any PDF documents using the Windows Fax and Scan program .  Has anyone else seen this problem?

  • Copying and pasting  problem?????

    Hey, wondering if anyone can help.
    I am having problems copying and pasting folders to a memory stick or an external, and get this error code up (error code -36).
    This happens, whether the folder is a couple of KB or several GB. I am not sure what to do, any help is really appreciated.

    No, sorry I am on 10.6.2. I have looked on the internet, typed in the error code and cant find anything.
    I have gone onto the folder, right clicked and gone onto get info and set the sharing options to read & write for all settings.
    At the moment the only way I can copy and paste is to write the folder on a new folder and copy the contents in side, providing there is no folders in side.

  • Copy and paste problem with regions

    I've noticed that occasionally, when I copy and paste a region within the same track, I sometimes paste twice (directly on top of the other region). Or at least that's the end result. When I realize this, I go to delete the region and then there's a region under that one.
    Except, it's very long, sometimes the length of the song. This wouldn't be a problem except it's uneditable. I can't trim it, loop it, cut it etc.
    Besides not pasting it twice in the first place, how can I keep this from occurring? Is it a bug? Why can't I edit the region? Thanx.

    I should probably mention that this happens primarily with audio instrument tracks.

  • Hp prime Copy and pasting problems

    Does any one know why the HP prime copy and paste function does not work properly. For example when I copy and past form the spreadsheet to the statistics 1 var app nothing happens. Perhaps there is a work around that will allow me to avoid this problem or another firmware that I can download.

    Operating System: 4CY35605VB I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong, however I should point out that when I copy from statistic 1 or 2 Var apps and paste to the spreadsheet app that everything works fine. The problem persists when when I reverse the direction, and copy from the spreadsheet and paste to the statistics 1 or 2 Var apps. I should also note that this problem does not occur with the HP Prime emulator.

  • Copy and paste problem in Netcape

    I have a text field on a jsp page, sometimes(not all the time) when I copy and paste text into that field in Netscape it will add spaces in front of the text, it looks like it might be right justifying the text in the textbox. This happens only sometimes in Netscape and never in IE. Has anyone ever heard of this and if so does anyone know of a fix?

    I guess one of your components (source or destination) is a textarea. It must be written like this:
    <teaxtarea></textarea>
    without any spaces like this:
    <teaxtarea> </textarea>
    and without line breaks like this:
    <teaxtarea>
    </textarea>
