OFFICEJET MODEL 6310 Error message – "Reset power"

REFERENCE:  HP ALL-IN-ONE MODEL 6310 PRINTER/COPIER/SCANNER/FAX –
A message received on the screen at the front control panel of the machine reads "Reset power", while all lights are flashing green.
Several attempts have been made to “reset power” by returning the machine to its original set-up, as instructed via numerous posts, both from HP Tech Support and from independent sources, but without success.
The reset procedures used were as follows:
Disconnected USB computer cable from printer. Disconnected power cable at rear of machine and at wall socket. Waited 2 minutes. Reconnected power cable directly to wall socket (not a surge protector or power bar); held down "#" and "6" buttons on the control panel simultaneously (for partial reset), and then reconnected power cable to rear of machine, holding both buttons down while doing so until screen went blank, and then released same. Machine then cycled through normal start-up process.
At the end of the process described, everything seemed normal, but within a few seconds the same "Reset power" message appeared and all lights began flashing green once again.
This same procedure was also attempted by pressing the "#" and "9" buttons simultaneously for a "Full reset", but the results have been no different; the “Reset power” message reappeared and the lights begin to flash as before.
These two procedures have been attempted at least three times in succession and the results have always been the same. If this is a defect with this particular HP model, one that can only be remedied by shipping the machine to HP for service at some unreasonable charge (the machine’s warranty has expired), then dumping it and buying a new one, either an HP model or some other more reliable make, may be the only real solution.
If anyone has a real, proven solution to the problem, to save me having to buy a new printer, please provide me with detailed instructions on how to proceed.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry for your frustration on this issue. You've already tries everything I would have you do, so my only recommendation would be to try a new power supply. Other than that, not much more i can offer you on this one.

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium - Error message: The printhead appears to be missing ...

Our printer have worked fine for I think 18 months, but now I keep getting a message of "the printhead appears to be missing, not detected, orincorrectly installed".
I have switched the machine on and off and I have reinstlalled the  ink cartrigeed and checked to make sure they were all installed correctly but still I am unable to print.
    Any suggestions?

Hello @Utti , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're experiencing printhead issues.  I would like to try and help with that.
I would recommend removing the ink cartridges from the printer, and performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also suggest plugging the printer power into a different wall outlet.
Another tool you can utilize would be this document on A 'Missing or Failed Printhead' Error Message Displays on the Printer or on the Computer.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Error Message Resetting Time Capsule

I have been trying to reset my time capsule and keep getting the following message after I do a factory reset. "an unexpected error occurred. Try again." I am using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5  and airport utility version  6.3. I have tried a soft reset, a hard seset and both factory resets. I keep getting the same error message. It finds the time capsule, finds the wireless router, but then I get the above error message. Any suggestions?

    Ok, got you..
This is a poor setup since you have no ethernet connection. And setting up join a wireless network can be a pain in the latest version of the utility.
What computer are you using.. it is possible to do a dual network setup.. where the computer gets internet via wireless but backs up over ethernet. This is easy on a desktop and perhaps also ok if you have a laptop with an ethernet port.. unlike some of the new ones.. and don't carry it around much.
Or you need to join the TC to the existing wireless network.. this will give super slow response to the TC and backups going through the whole system so that it exposes the TC to the whole network. Not really a good idea.
To set that up though you can do it using the v5.6 utility.
Download and install it into your Lion computer.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
    Go to manual setup.
Go to the airport and wireless page.
Hold down the option key when you select wireless.
This will reveal other modes that are hidden including "join a wireless network"
It can be done also in the 6.3 utility.. but it is rather less clear what you are doing.
You need to reset the TC.. and then wait until it show up in the wireless listing under airport icon.. you can then select it and it will open airport utility.. and it should offer you to join the existing wireless network.

  • All in one HP printer model J5780. error message "the cartridge on left needs replacing"

Even when using a brand new colour original HP cartridge, I get the error message on the printer "the cartidge on the left must be replaced). The printer has a red flashing light and will not reset if press ok or cancel. Only way to continue printing is to go via HP solution centre  tools and choose "Diagnostice test". It then prints the test and the requested document. I have cleaned the cartridge and the points inside the printer to no avail.

I'm betting that the contacts inside the printer or on the ink cartridge are dirty. This happens over time. The document below will walk you through cleaning the contacts. Let me know what happens.

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium - error message

    Hi,
Our printer here in the office has been showing the same error message for a while now and we cannot find out why it keeps comin up. The error message reads;  'Paper Jam, The original is jammed in the automatic document feeder (ADF)
Open the ADF cover, remove and reload the original, and then try again.'
I cannot find anything jammed and am not entirely sure what ADF cover means? Can anyone help with this as it will not let us scan anything
    Thank you

    Hello Latitude50,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) on the printer.
I have a few steps that we can run through to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also done some research and I have found a great document the deals with troubleshooting a paper jam error.
Please click on the following link :   'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the Printer.
Please pay close attention to Solution six: Clear the paper jam from the automatic document feeder.
I hope this information is helpful.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to write me back and I will be more than happy to help.
    Thank you for your time.

    Hi mosese2007
I'm sorry but this is the most likely explanation for your problem, liquid ingress or water damage is the most common cause of local mode. The corrosion build up from liquid changes the phone's ability to "read" the battery correctly hence "local mode" comes up!

  • Firefox will disable my HP L7680( error message " turn power off then on again") when using either the printer icon or print in file pull down. .

This happens for em & other print request in my online brokerage account. It has no problem printing PDF files. When the message appears, four lights start blinking at the same time on the auto answer button, on off button, lower SD slot, and the light under the OK button with the directional tabs. At that point I have to power down the printer and change to ie8 to print these. My ie8 browser has no problems with any printing, but it does not function when trying to add notes in my Comcast address book

Mowaffaq, you may want to determine whether you are making those changes in the master printing preferences (versus the adjusting the session printing preferences from within your application).
Click "Start", click "Printers and Faxes" (or "Devices and Printers"), right-click your printer, and select "Printing Preferences". On the "Paper/Quality" tab, you should be able to specify A4 as your default paper for all future print jobs.
    Hope that helps.

  • HP Officejet 6310xi won't print - keeps blinking "reset power" and all lights flashing.

I have an HP Officejet 6310xi that won't print.  When you select print, the paper begins to feed then suddenly stops before any printing begins and all lights on the face of the printer begin blinking and the message "RESET POWER" blinks in the screen readout of the printer.  When I turn printer off and back on, the screen indicates a used color cartridge is inserted and I hit OK, then indicates used black cartridge is inserted, then I hit OK, then it says it needs to align cartridges, I hit OK.  After trying to align cartridges, it suddenly stops and goes back to all lights flashing and screen flashing "RESET POWER".   I can hit cancel during cartridge alignment and printer goes to normal ready position.  I can then print a test page.  But as soon as I try to print anything else, even the diagnostics page, it goes back to flashing all lights and "RESET POWER".  I did a semi reset (unplug, wait, plug in holding #6) and a full reset (with #9).  That did nothing except wipe out the date on the screen read out of the printer.   So I know the full reset executed correctly but it did not solve my problem.  Please HELP! I am reposting with email me selected - I'm new at this posting to forums...

  • Authorization issue - repeating error message

I'd just like to mention that I recently experienced the dreaded authorization loop where iTunes continuously asks for authorization to play certain songs. After exhausting different possibilities to resolve the problem, I tried something different. When iTunes asked for my ID and Password, I reset my password through the "forgot password" button - and then answering the secret question I used when I made my ID. Once that was done, I clicked on the song that activated the authorization error, and entered my new password. This worked for me.
I should note that the ID that was displayed by the authorization error message (before resolving my issue) did not follow the '[email protected]'. The ID field only displayed everything prior to the '@' symbol. I don't know what to make of this, but as I looked at the songs that I wanted to play, and by utilizing the command+i (get info) function for the songs, I noticed that the purchaser ID did not follow the '[email protected]' format either (though all other music I was able to play DID follow this format).
So, I would suggest checking the songs that activate the authorization error, and taking note of the user ID that purchase the song. I suggest putting that ID into the ID field of the error message, resetting the password, and seeing where that leads.
It was a weird situation but I figured it out. Hope this helps someone!

repeating error message: "acl found but not expected" during permissions repair
My iMac is running slow. Processor running all the time. I was told to do permissions repair, so I did that. I get 100's and 100's of "ACL found but not expected" while doing a permissions repair in 'utilities'. It says 1 minute to complete but runs for a half hour. When it finally completes, I can restart the permissions repair again and it starts all over with same endless messages. Even though its says 'repaired', these ACL issues keep coming.
ACLs are just junk left over from previously installed OSXs. Just ignore. They have no impact.
Describe your exact issue and computer specs and Linc may run you through a series of tests which may well help you find the problem to your issues. I agree, Permissions repair is rarely required.
