OfficeJet Printing PCL Commands

I have an OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g which I understand supports PCL3.  When I send it PCL3 commands (from an old DOS Basic program), it prints them out in text instead of performing the action.  The very same set of commands work just fine on my LaserJet 4P (yes I know it's ancient).  Any idea what's wrong or what I need to do to get it to work like the LaserJet?  Thanks.

Hi Brett:
We would like to accomodate your requirement, but it might not be possible to embed PCL, since all our printed documents are converted to PDF first and PDF is printer independent.
However, it should be possible to provide a solution that prints the document 2 times on one printer and 2 times on another pritner. Do you require this for a single document, document batch or bursting scenario (same document to different output channels?)
Our 5.6.1 bursting support may be able to help with this requirement. Is that for e-Business Suite or Standalone XML Publisher?

  • Using PCL commands to initialize a printer.

Where should i put the PCL commands to initialize a printer?

    Hi Turbog,
9672 is a Printer driver error, either the driver only works for USB, or parts of an older driver are installed/conflicting.
Does hp have a newer driver for it... the ones on CD are normally out of date with the OS.
Might see the last post here even if it's talking another brand...

  • Embedding PCL Commands for Print Tray Setting

I find from Creating RTF Templates - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) that PCL commands can be embedded in the RTF template. Can PCL command indicating the paper source tray be specified?
For example, embed EC&l1H to the 1st page while EC&4H in the 2nd page.

    Solution
You have to access this from the UI and not the control panel
    - IP into the laserprinter
    -Select Settings Tab
    -Configure Device (left side)
-Expand "Configure Device" in the center of the page
    -Expand "Printing"
    -Expand "PCL"
    - at the very bottom "Media Source Mapping"...set it to Classic from Standard.
    Worked!

  • PCL Commands in XML Publisher

Is it at all possible to send PCL commands to the printer in XML Publisher like it is in Oracle Reports. We need to be able to change the print tray in the XML Publisher template. In Brazil there is a legal requirement to print the Nota Fiscal with 2 copies on one type of paper and 2 copies on another type of paper. Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brett

  • Slow Print and Print Setup command in Reader Ver. 8.1.2

Print and print setup command take over 30 seconds to load on Reader ver. 8.1.2. I tried ver 6 and same thing happens. Using the print shortcut and same thing happens.
System: New Dell computer (Windows XP Pro, SP2). Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

You are not alone. Same problem here on a brand new computer with 2GB of RAM. Three minutes total to print a small, black and white 1 bit, 15 page pdf file. Previous to 8.1.2 (8.1.1) the same version printer drivers (Xerox Phaser 8860 Series) worked fine (both PS and PCL versions). I've been trolling for a fix this morning - so far nothing.

  • Email address for HP J4680 All-in-One Officejet printer?

How do I find the email address for my HP J4680 All-in-One Officejet printer?

why cant the email be the mac address? or the serial number?
Seriously I went thru hoops to find out that HP is too stupid to include an easy way for all of their wireless printers on a network to be accessed?
maybe I need to buy a different brand next time.! Toss my Hp laptop, Desktop, Printer! and buy a samsung! Sheesh this is not only depressing its typical of HP!
I paid good money to have a wireless printer! but because HP cant figure out how to reach it out to it on the network with a unique # thats built in I have to go buy one that has a email address?
    Seriously!!!!!! ????
Something so simple could be fixed with a software patch/upgrade!
Get on it! or get replaced!

  • How do you unfreeze a frozen top and left command in the printing position command?

The top and left option of the printing position command is frozen at 0.  The error message states that a value between 0.000 and 0.000 is required.  How do I change this?  This happens will unedited and edited pictures.  I have just installed a xerox printer perhaps there is a link between this problem and the printer.

I didn't even suggest that because I would have thought that would be the first thing anyone would have checked for!   If you flip the on/off switch on the bottom of the mouse do you have a blinking green light?  Whether you do or don't, if you are unsure of the batteries then replace them.

    this work's with:
    C:\Programme\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe /n /s /h /t test.pdf
But at the end, when printing was done. Adobe does not close automatically.
Is there an opportunity to automatically close adobe after printing?

No, Adobe stopped that happening many releases ago, for reasons that I don't understand but they will not change.

  • The cyan color won't print when using our HP Pro 6500 Officejet printer

the cyan color won't print when using our HP Pro 6500 Officejet printer.  Can I get help with this?

This doesn't make sense. The printer is exhibiting behavior noticed when a network printer is connected to a laptop while the laptop is connected to a VPN. But in this case, neither the printer is connected on a network, not is the laptop connected to a VPN per se.
Are you sure all the latest drivers for your laptop have been installed? That's pretty much the only thing I can think of right now.
