Officejet pro 6835

Just installed new printer on dell inspiron with windows 8.1, after hooking up and running software the lcd screen keeps saying checking for printer updates. If I hit the x on the screen it goes to printer error saying there is a problem with the printer  and says to turn off then back on with all the lights flashing. If I do that it does the same thing>
Help! Do I have to call hp or what?

I tried your suggestions and got the same results, so I contacted HP Support via chat and we went thru the whole
procedures again and they determined that the printer needed replaced. I received the new printer this past Friday and
it set up perfectly.
Thanks for your help though.

  • Officejet Pro 6835 self-cancels print jobs with more than 3 copies

I am printing 5x7 invitations for a business.  No matter how many copies I request, y brand new HP Officejet Pro 6835 will self-cancel the print job after 3 invitations have printed.  So if I have 30 invites to print, I have to print them in batches of 3.  Tonight I had 150 invites to print - so it is a long envening.  The error displayed on my HP ENVY laptop is that there is an error and can't print (not informative).  The error on the HP printer is that the print job has been cancelled.
The other issue is that I am forced to print the 5x7 invites in landscape mode which is very slow.  Portrait mode would go much faster but for some reason the handshake between Word and the printer will not allow this to happen.  I've tried to custom configure the page set up to be 7x5, but Word will not save the custom configuraiton.
    Please help!

    Hi-
Thank you for the suggestion but unfortuneately the hotfix did not solve the problem.  I am now getting between 2.5 to 3 copies.  Do you have any other thoughts?  I did install the hotfix on c:/ which was the default - was there another directory I should have chosen?
As a side note, I am trying to print a batch right now and am trying to seperate the job into copies of 2.  Even this is not working.  About every very other card, I am getting a partially printed card and the print job cancels.  In a batch of 19 (10 print jobs of 2), I have 11 ruined cards because they have partially printed before the job self-cancels.  Very expensive to have a 60% ruin rate.
Also, I would really like to be able to print in portrait rather than landscape mode.  I am estimating that printing in landscape mode takes more than 4.5 x (23 seconds) than portrait mode (5 seconds) - when printing 150 copies this results in a job being over an hour vs. closer to 15 minutes which is best case since I have to constantly restart the job.  I also suspect that landscpae mode is far less efficient in its use of ink than portrait mode.  Any help would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks!

I have MacBook 2.1 Intel Core 2 Duo OS 10.6.8 want to install HP Officejet Pro 6835 which requires OS 10.7 higher. How can I do this? Possible? Or Is it possible to install 10.7 upper to my Macbook 2.1?

Lion is the highest version your can install. You need to have 2 GBs of RAM and be running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • My HP Officejet Pro 6835 gives me a message "There is an error with the print head"

Hi, I'd advise giving HP Support a call, as it's likely you'll require a replacement printer. Can you please let me know how you get on? Thanks, Ciara

When I try to print using my HP Officejet Pro 6835 I get the message "There is a problem with the print head"This printer has barely been used. It worked fine the first 5-15 times it was used. I have gone to HP support page and none of the suggestions works. The printer was new Jan. 30, 2015 and has printed less than 20 copies. The screen indicates turn on and off. Have tried that on numerous occasions. Also tried unplugging and plugging in again. Recently added new ink using HP ink cartridge.

  • Does HP Officejet Pro 6835 support Scan to E-Mail using the HP Printer assistant Program?

    I receive error.
Scan to EMAIL application not found. The HP Scan application cannot find an email application installed on this computer. Please ensure your e-mail application is installed and properly configured. Note: Internet-based email applications are not supported.
Note: Accessing the EWS on the printer does not show a Scan to Email Setup under the Scan tab it only shows Scan to Computer and WEBSCAN.
Running Windows 8.1 64 bit with Mozilla Thunderbird as default Mail application.
When I let HP Detect my product it lists two printers installed. HP Officejet Pro 6830  e all-in-one printer (Not my Printer) and HP Officejet Pro 6835 e-all-in one Printer (My Printer with correct Ser # and Product #)
Windows 8.1 only lists HP Officejet Pro 6830 (Network) as my default printer.
Does HP have an application that will remove all printers from Windows 8?
If so I may remove printer and reinstall with OJ6830_73.exe the full function printer listed for my printer on the HP web site.
Any assistance in this matter would be appreciated. Please read all above before responding because I have been told that WINDOWS 8.1 needs my default e-mail and other solutions that did not work.

    Hey @HenryRC,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the 'scan to email' issue that you're experiencing when attempting to Scan to email via HP Scan from your HP Officejet 6835 All-in-One Printer to your Windows 8.1 computer using the Mozilla Thunderbird email program. Thank you for including in your post that you have already ensured that Mozilla Thunderbird is your default Mail application. At this time I'm going to have you run some additional steps.
    Step 1: Check Email Application:
Ensure that your Mozilla Thunderbird email application is the full version of the software installed on your computer and not a Windows 8.1 App. It has to be installed as a local email client. Web-based email clients (email apps, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, etc . . .) will not work.
If Mozilla Thunderbird is fully installed on your computer, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 2: Update Firmware:
This issue may be caused by a programming issue with your printer. To ensure that your printer is running the latest programming Firmware version please click here. Once the website opens select the download button on the top left. Once the download is complete please follow through with any onscreen instructions to upgrade the Firmware.
Once the Firmware has been updated please test scanning again. Should the issue persist please proceed to the next step.
    Step 3: Uninstall Drivers:
The HP Officejet Pro 6830 and HP Officejet Pro 6835 are the same products. It's just that the 6830 is the series and you have the 6835 within that series. Don't be alarmed if your product comes up as a 6830.
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard to the right of the Ctrl button
Once the Start screen opens type Programs and Features. Click on Programs and Features to launch it
In the Programs and Features window a list of programs installed on your computer will populate
Scroll down the list and look for the HP Officejet
Click on the HP Officejet and select Uninstall
Follow any onscreen steps to complete the uninstall. Once your printer has been successfully uninstalled please continue to the next step.
    Step 4: Install Printer:
Please click here to download the HP Full Feature Drivers and Software for your printer
Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left
Allow the Download to Run if prompted
Once the download is complete please follow the onscreen steps to install your printer
Once the installation is complete please try HP Scan 'Scan to Email' again to verify if everything is working.
Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your scanning issue. Good luck!

Hello,  To me it seems to be an issue with Printhead which is a fixed part in this printer. However, if you have got this printer connected to a Windows PC, then please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from www.hp.com/go/tools If issue still persists, the you might have to call HP Tech Support to get the printer replaced ( if your printer is still in warranty ) Please call HP Tech Support for further assistance.

  • Officejet pro 6835 receive faxes but can't send

I can receive faxes but when I go to send I hear it ring twice and then it just stops there. and I get a report that there is no answer.

    Hi again RicCastleman,
I have done some additional research and I have found some really good troubleshooting steps in the on line Manual as well as in the Troubleshooting guide.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • How to resolve a printhead problem on a HP Officejet Pro 6835 printer

I replaced the black printer cartridge and now I am getting a message saying there is a printhead problem.  Went on line and followed all the suggested fixes, ran the Print and Scan Doctor, still not working.  Any suggestions?

    scarlattid3,
The cancel button should be located in the bottom right corner of the screen. The only thing is it's not going to show up until you start the print job or copy and then it should appear for you.
Let us know if you are able to find this.

I recently purchased an Office Jet Pro 6835 all-in-one printer.  It has stopped printing and displays the error message "there is a problem with the printhead".  Is this by any chance an indication I am already out of ink?  I don't want to assume this and waste $100 on ink cartridges....Thanks for any help or suggestions

    HI RODA80,
Welcome to the HP support forums.  I understand that when you are printing a multiple page document on your Officejet Pro 8500a that only the first 2 pages print.
To better understand the issue would you please provide some further information:
    1)    What operating system are you using (Windows 7, Mac 10.8, or Windows 8, etc)?
    2)    Is this happening for all multiple page documents or just one?
    3)    Has a default of only printing the first 2 pages been accidentally set?
    Thank you.

  • IP Printing: HP OfficeJet Pro K850 not in driver list

    Hi
After hours of work, I reckon I cannot solve the following problem on a iMac running Tiger 10.4.11 by myself. I installed a HP OfficeJet Pro K850 on my Mac directly trough USB, and everything worked fine. Then I decided to upgrade the whole system by connecting the printer trough a D-Link DP-G321 Print Server, in order to share the printer for the entire network. Despite everything works fine with Windows PCs, I can't get it to work with the Mac. By adding the K850 to the printer list, after typing the IP Address of the print server and the queue name, I have to choose the printer manufacturer and the model. Sadly, there is no entry in the HP list saying OfficeJet Pro K850, nor any similar printer models. I then simply tried to add the printer as a Generic PostScript Printer and print a document. I am sure there is a connection between my Mac and the printer, for the printer began to print strange texts until I pressed the cancel button on the printer. So it seems to be a driver problem, in fact the printer does not appear in the driver list, although the driver is (or should be) installed on my Mac (from the HP OfficeJet Pro K850 driver CD). How can I get the driver in that list? Appearantly, there is no "standalone" driver provided by HP, since the driver should be integrated in Mac OS X Tiger (at least that's what HP told me).
Any help would be very appreciated!

You can find this issue addressed here many times - but I guess you would need to know some background first...
There are two kinds of drivers on OS X - Carbon and CUPS. Not like on Windows, where a driver is a driver. Manufacturers of non-postscript printers mostly provide Carbon drivers, where they can specify which comm protocol it uses. Your HP driver is written for USB only. You need a CUPS driver to use the network protocols, which are all part of CUPS.
    Install the 3-part hpijs driver:

  • My HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 won't connect to my wireless router

This is bizarre.  I have had my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 for about 6 months.  It has generally worked fine, and we have used it wirelessly only.  But now it refuses to connect to the router.  It can FIND the router, and it can find other networks in the area, but it won't connect to the router.  I ran the Wireless Network Test, and the results say:
Wireless On - Pass // Wireless Working - Pass //
Network Name (SSID) found - Pass //  Wireless Networks Detected - 9
Printer Settings Consistent with Wireless Router Settings - Pass / No Filtering - FAIL //
So it recommends solution as follows: "1 If MAC Address filtering is enabled, and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the Mac address of your printer to the list of permitted devices for your router before continuing."
Except, guess what, I don't have MAC Address filtering enabled.  I wouldn't know how to do that, much less check for it.
Also, before today, this was never a problem.  HELP!
    Thanks....
If you are interested, here's more detail and background.
Before today, the only problem we have had is that frequently our Apple laptop (OS X 10.6) has trouble connecting to the printer.  This has been odd because the printer is connected to the network, and so is the laptop, but the laptop can't find the printer - it thinks the printer is "offline" (even though it's not).  Usually, if I wait a while, it will find the printer, and it will resolve itself work fine.  If not, we sometimes have found that it can fix itself if you restart the laptop -- restarting the printer does not make a difference.   In fact, I did exactly that today, and it resolved itself.  And I printed.  Fine, right?
But then I wanted to do more printing, and the problem of the laptop not finding the printer came up again, so I decided to really "get to the bottom of this."  I don't remember exactly what I did, but somehow I was persuaded by the online help, that the correct solution would be to go into my System Preferences / Print and Fax, and click on the "-", which de-installs the printer, with the idea of re-installing the printer.  But then when I tried to re-install the printer, it could not find the printer.  Ugh!  Wierdly, it found an 8600 Scanner, but not an 8600 printers.  After installing and de-installing the 8600 scanner a few times, I eventually deinstalled everything, and I decided to start from scratch.  I got my HP disk, and installed all the software again from the beginning (even though it was already there), and then it looked for my printer, but couldn't find it.  So then I got a USB cord, and plugged that in.
So, now I have a situation where I do have a working printer via the USB cord, but no wireless connection at all.  In particular, since the Office Jet Pro 8600 won't connect to the router, I don't know what else to do.  My Apple MacBook pro is 2 feet away from the printer, and it is connected to the router just fine (as is my blackberry), and I have never before had a problem connecting to the wireless router by the printer.
    Any suggestions?

There are two things that can trip the mac filtering test to fail:  actual MAC address filtering setup (sounds like this is not the case) and using wireless channel 6 or automatic for wireless channel in the wireless network settings (in the router).  Since it does show failed for MAC filtering and you do not use this option, try changing the wireless channel in the router to 1 or 11.  Those two channels provide the best compatibility with printers due to less interference.  Almost everything defaults to auto or 6 for the channel and this causes a lot of interference.  This change should not affect anything at all.  To do this, you may need to contact the router manufacturer as the process differs from router to router.
What brand and model is the router?
Has anything in the network settings changed at all?
What version is the Mac OS X?  There may be additional steps to take as it sounds like there are two separate issues involved and this could be revisited later.

  • Unable To Communicate With Printer HP Officejet Pro 8600 (Network)

I recently purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600. One morning a couple weeks ago I tried to print something and I received a prompt saying "Unable to Communicate with Printer (Network)". I turned off the printer and turned it back on which did not help, I then turned off my wireless network, turned it back on and still nothing. I finally figured out that I first have to turn off the printer, then turn off my wireless router wait thirty seconds, turn the router back on and the turn the printer back on. After these steps my printer was working. The next morning the same thing happened "Unable to Communicate with Printer (Network)" and I've been replaying Groundhog's Day ever since.
    Please help!

    Hello msheehy-
I would like to help you with this issue. It sounds like the router is changing the ip address of the printer. This could be caused by a couple reasons. (ip lease time, power loss to the router) I would recommend looking at the following link. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03781399&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4323648&tmp...
I think if you would set a static ip address in the printer EWS you would better off. I hope this helps.

  • Unable to find network printer HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

    HP Officejet Pro 8600
    Windows 7 64bit
    updated router firmware
Troubleshoot all item s listed by HP and with Windows
I have been unable to print wireless from my laptop. Wireless network test results gives me a pass in all categories. Network name is the same on printer and laptop. IP address on printer and tcp  port are the same. Tried firewall on and off. AVG antivirus on and off. Unplugged printer, router, usb, restarted laptop. Nothing has solved the problem.
I can see that the printer has an ip address. My router has an ip address and my laptop has an ip address. Should they all be different? I am using the ip address from the printer to set up the wireless printing when asked to enter the address.
This has been the most frustrating process I have ever delt with. It should not be this difficult to set up. Please help.
Thank you in advance for a quick solution.

Shurlee, I want you to do is re-run the wireless setup wizard on your printer. Then uninstall it, and reinstall it again using the software I am going to link you to below. From what you describe it sounds like either an installation issue or an issue with your network. If this helps feel free to mark my post by hitting the star below my name which gives me a kudos - kinda like a job well done on here.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Download these files and install them. By the way these are for the N911a, but if you have the 8600 Plus or Premium you will need different drivers.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4323659
Install that and let me know the result!

  • Constant Printing Restart on a networked HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909N Series printer

    Hello,
I'm curious if anyone has run into this problem before.  I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n Series printer that I have setup as a network printer.  This has been accomplished through a print server.
I installed the printer's drivers based upon the cd that came with the printer, in the box.
The problem is that whenever a user prints, say it's a simply one page document... the printer will repeatedly print that single page until it runs out of paper.  I have stopped/restarted the print spooler.  I've rebooted the printer and the print server.  I have deleted the drivers and readded them.  I've tried installing drivers from HP's website and then installing those.  I have attempted to delete the printer from the server and start from scratch.
When I monitor the print queue, I can see the service restart after each document prints.  I can't figure out how to get this to stop.
Does anyone have a suggestion; or has anyone run into this problem?  I'm not sure which forum to put this in.  I chose the Networks/Wireless forum, even though this is running on a wired network with wireless disabled.
    I certainly appreciate any asistance.
    -Craig

It ended up being an issue with the port.  I had used the same port as the last HP printer that I replaced.  This printer needs to run on a TCP/IP port, and not an HP port.
    Problem solved.
Oh, and it was wired, with wireless disabled.
