Officejet Pro 8000 paper feed (top or bottom)?

I've gotten conflicting answers from HP sales chat.
Does the HP Officejet Pro 8000 feed the paper from the bottom of the stack of paper or does it feed from the top?
This question was solved.

From the top. Tested by printing a page, putting it back (printed side up) on the top of the stack, then printing the same page again. It duly appeared on the other side of the same sheet.

  • Officejet Pro 8000 Paper feed problem

I have an Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless printer and I am using Windows 7. The printer is out of warrantee. The Printer is failing to pick up the paper from the paper tray. Also if I print Duplex the left side of the paper catches. I have tried to clean the rollers. reset the printer. reset the paper. the flashing lights continue. any suggestions other than getting a new printer?
    Rick Wiggers

Further examination shows that the problem seems to be that sometimes the pick rollers don't turn. Apparently the drive mechanism to the rollers fails. It has nothing to do with the rollers themselves slipping  because they are dirty and need cleaning -- they don't turn!
So,,,,can any HP person give a solution to this?
From what I can tell, the problem has existed for years, and a lot of people complain about it, Has HP done anything to correct it?
Lacking a solution, can any HP person tell me where I can get a service manual so I can do intelligent tinkering on my own?  It's way out of warranty and it would cost more to take it to a service center than it's worth, assuming any service center would even  bother with it. So I don't think it's unreasonable for HP to provide a service manual.

  • HP Officejet PRO 8600 paper feed takes over 2 minutes to pick up paper on print job

Once you hit print it takes 2 minutes and 18 seconds for the printer to pick up the paper and print the document.  If there are multiple pages for the print job, the second and subsequent pages print immediately after the first one finally, finally prints.  I cleaned the rollers, checked for software upgrades, reset the printer, tried all different paper weights, etc.

Hi , and welcome to the HP Forums! I see you are experiencing print speed issues.  I would like to help! Do you have the same issues when making a copy, as opposed to a print? I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Tutorial: Print index cards without removing paper from tray for Officejet Pro 8000.

The HP Officejet Pro 8000 and Officejet Pro 8000 wireless do not have a slot for inserting index cards and envelopes.
If you are wanting to print index cards without removing the paper from the tray, follow these steps.
The steps below are for 3 x 5 index cards.
    1.) Open Microsoft Word
2.) Go to the Insert tab and insert a rectangle shape
3.) Draw a rectangle of any size
4.) Right click on the rectangle and select "Format Autoshape..."
5.) Under the Size tab, enter 5" for the height and 3" for the width (make sure "Absolute" is selected)
6.) Under the Layout tab, select "Center" for the horizontal alignment
    7.) Click OK
8.) Use the keyboard up arrow key to move the rectangle to the top of the page.  Make sure the top edge of the rectangle touches the top edge of the document.
9.) Print this document on plain 8.5" x 11" paper
10.) When you want to print an index card, place this 8.5x11 document in the paper tray printed side face up.  Then place an index card over the rectangle and align with the border of the rectangle.  After you print the index card, remove the 8.5x11 paper for the next time you need to print an index card.
Note 1: This are USA instructions.  If you live in the UK or other countries you may have different paper size standards.

I can't tell you how much I HATE this printer.  I will never buy an HP product again.  BROTHERS printers are simply and easy to use.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 A809 printing line feed page after every job

I've searched and I have found this is a known issue - that there is supposed to be an update to fix this. I can't find this update anywhere for the HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809. It is connected to the computer via a USB cable. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, changing the print heads, doing diagnostics on it, ..., and I still get the line feed page printing after every print job. Help!

Hey there @tjkalb, I hope you are doing well
I read your post about how a "line feed" page prints after each print job from your Officejet 8000, running Windows 7. I have some steps and questions for you to try to get started. Afterwards please get back to me with the results and we will go from there if needed.
    1. Does the "line feed" page print after print jobs from all programs, or are you finding it prints when you print from somewhere specifically?
    2. Try a Clean Boot on your PC, restart the PC, and try printing from Notepad to see if the line feed prints.
    3. Print a Print Quality Page from the printer and examine it for any defects and to see if the line feed page still prints afterwards:
    source
    4. Click here and try download the "Updates" for this printer: HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printer - A809a
    5. Create another User Account profile on your computer and try printing from there to see if the line feed page prints from another profile.

  • Firmware update for HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless to fix load paper issue - as for the 8500?

Is there any hope that that soon will be a firmware update to fix the issues loading paper and the printheads for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless printer?
A month or two ago there came a firmware update to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 wireless, which has some of the same issues,
and allegedly should have the much of the same load-mechanism as the 8000 printer.
It would be great, as we are on the fourth (4) replacement of this HP 8000 printer. For example, it would be great if we could use normal (80g) paper and not has to use (HP) 90g paper, as this prevents us from using the duplexer and only print on one side.

Thanks for the advice to contact HP tech support!
I have tried in multiple ways since November 2009 to contact HP, when I got the first (of 4) printers. The first 3 printers was subsequently replaced.
Finally in late June 2010 I got the message that there was coming an firmware update for Windows, but not for Mac's. The firmware should improve among other things the paper pick up (load paper issue) and the print-heads life.
I have applied the Windows firmware on the printer from a pc, but still seems to have load-paper issues, even using HP Bright White paper, when printing from Mac's. I have not tested the printing from a pc, but assumes that a firmware upgrade the printer, and are not specific to a certain OS.

  • Paper mismatch error with HP officejet pro 8000 (A809)

officejet pro 8000 A809 wireless -wrong size paper
running OSX 10.7.3 on a macbook pro 2.3GHz Intel i5
this printer has been running fine for a couple/three years now.. no problem when I got the new macbook last summer, or when i upgraded to Lion.
Now it has started getting confused as to what the paper size is - i get this error:
Paper Size Error: The paper size selected in the printer driver software does not match the paper size in the printer IN tray.
but only SOMETIMES. Like right now after screaming at it for an hour, unplugging and rebooting, etc., I sat down to write this and needed to get the exact wording for the error, so i told it to print. And it printed just fine. So I tried the next page I need to print, and I got the error again. I didn't even TOUCH the printer in between. The paper is letter size, it's always letter size. It's in landscape mode, but it has been for the whole morning, while I've been printing out certificates. Now it won't do it anymore. I am at a complete loss. I have rebooted my computer 3 times now, and unplugged the printer countless times. HELP!!!!!
It did this about 3 weeks ago and gave me fits for a couple days, and then magically started working fine again. I've deleted the USB and Bonjour versions of the printer from system prefs and re-added them. More than once. ;-)
    Any ideas?

Though a day late & dollar short, I too encountered this issue with Yosemite.
After removing the paper & restarting the printer, I determined the issue to be related to the document. The document I was printing was sent to me from an international corporation. Which I figure was using a non-US paper format or a larger page format for the document.
I tried to change those within the document & was unsuccessful.
I copied the content to a new document & it printed fine.

  • How to i select 'continous paper' for an officejet pro 8000?

I'm trying to print a banner 4 sheets long by 2 sheets high (from Poster Software - poster8.exe from postersw.com). I used to use an HP 960 printer that allowed me to select 'banner' or 'continous' paper. However, my new Officejet Pro 8000 doesn't give me that option. Is there a way I can print to continous-fed paper? Selecting 'Poster Printing' doesn't give me the options I need.
    Thank you!

I couldn't figure out why my printer stopped following instructions from my software programs.  So I reinstalled the HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless using my Windows 7 (64 bit) install CD.
Now the printer follows instructions but it must be physically connected by the USB ports.  I want to work wirelessly.  I know my IP address, but cannot input it because I don't know where the Printer options are.

  • Officejet pro 8000 printing wonky on magnetic paper

    Hi
I have an Officejet Pro 8000 and have recently bought some Kodak magnetic paper for it. The paper is 650 gsm and although it prints fine it always comes out wonky. Does anyone know if its technically too thick for the printer? Or any other reason why it could be? And does anyone else use magnetic paper, maybe you could recommend another one?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Consumer inkjet printers do not support a Magnetic media
As you may find by the printer specification, 280 g/m2 is the maximum media weight the printer can handle for Photo Paper, it is definitely not intended to handle such weights..

  • Unable to install OfficeJet Pro 8000 firmware upgrade BZM1FN1006BR

My OfficeJet Pro 8000 A809n has the original firmware, 0842BR.  My understanding is that the upgrade to 1006BR will address some issues I'm having with paper handling and network connectivity.
When I use the HP Download and Install Utility (DAIU), it downloads the firmware download utility (HP Officejet Pro Firmware - OfficejetPro8000_R1006BR_ENG.exe) to my hard drive.  However, when I use the "Install" feature,  I get this error:
"Firmware Download Utility has stopped working  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Please close the program."
I've tried to run the software directily from my hard drive as well but it gives the same results.  Some have reported that the issue may be related to running firewall software on my laptop (Lenovo W530 with Windows 7 64-bit) but I get the same problem when I disable Symantec Endpoint Protection.
I would appreciate any help in resolving this issue!

    Hello there
I have some more suggestions for you! I would first suggest printing out a test page, see the below image for instructions on how to print out a quality page. I ask you to try this to see if the printer will produce a test page from the unit itself (without involving the computer). Basically, this makes sure the printer is in good working order before we continue software troubleshooting. If this page prints, continue the steps below the image, if not, let me know!
Also, please let me know some more about the paper handling and network connectivity problem you have been facing. Ex: Does the printer loose it's wireless connection? Will it not pick the paper and feed the paper through?
    Source
Software troubleshooting if the printer printed a quality page fine:
Run the Microsoft Fix it tool here, to uninstall the printer: Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled
    Restart the PC.
Perform a Clean Boot again and restart the PC afterwards.
    Disable any firewalls and anti-virus.
    Run the installation again.
    Happy Wednesday!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809

after installing Snow Leopard I have been getting error messages saying the software for the printer was installed wrongly. I am then invited to authenticate, and it runs off and 'repairs permissions' then prints.. Doesn't say what permissions and the time taken is too short for it to be a full permissions repair.
The printer software, aside fom the initial install with Snow Leopard and the variousO.S. updates, was installed through the Software Update sub menu. I assume it is not a matter of  user privileges though I nearly always run in a non admin and authenticate. I have a few times had issues with apps and only got by them by installing in root, but that seems not what is involved as a set of 'permissions' was apparently being repaired.
Incidentally I have just been ploughing through an 11 page posting on HP printers where some seemeed more intent on propounding canaon law than helping, so don't bother with a recitation of  dogma such as on not using root.
I have just taken a download of the HP drivers from the Apple site so could delete the `hp drivers (If I can track them down) though I would like an opinion on the best way to then re install them. By the wy my OS is now 10.8.3

  • Officejet Pro 8000 slow to select for color prints

I just installed Officejet Pro 8000 and immediately noticed how slowly the printer is selected in printer options box when I am doing color printing. It takes about 30 sec-1 minute to finalize the selection of this as my printer for the job. I have a networked color laser jet and a networked b&w laser jet also installed that are immediately selected when I choose them from the list.
I have been testing this in Word 2007 and have noticed that when I select the officejet, the bar at the bottom of the word screen says "connecting to printer" - this seems to be the source of the slowness. I have the latest driver installed and I do not have this problem when printing regular b&w docs on this printer.
Is there a problem here or is this normal <SLOW> color print operation?
    Thanks!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8000 no borderless printing on card stock via Windows driver

I just setup the OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless printer the other day with the intent to print borderless cards on card stock.  I can print anything to it without issue however if I attempt to use borderless mode the Windows driver does NOT allow any paper type other than photo or glossy borchure types.
If I print anyway on card stock it looks ink soaked and muddy.  If I print on their recommeded types it looks fine but a card needs heavy card stock, not med or light paper weights.
If I do not select borderless, the print (on card stock) has a dredded border but the print quality is fine.
The driver will not allow even a "normal" or "draft" borderless on standard paper types.  Is there a hack or modification to allow me to print borderless on any paper?

  • Officejet pro 8000 and the power and resume lights keep flashing

I have an officejet pro 8000 and the power and resume lights keep flashing. I initially had the problem when I put a new black ink cartridge in. Lately there was an error message on the computer saying pump stall error, which then culminated in a print head error. I have replaced the print head at an extra £40 I have replaced all the ink cartridges which say they are low even though I haven't been printing. Basically spent the cost of the printer again  AND I STILL CANT PRINT! I'm using a Mac with snow leopard and I have reset the printer list and installed the new software and drivers. I have tried connecting with USB and Ethernet. I have filled up the paper. I have taken out the duplex and given it all a blow through. reset the print heads - basically everything the support web pages told me to do.
I have to say this is the worse printer I have ever had from HP. I always buy HP because of the quality. I have to say I feel unless this problem is solved with out me spending more money on it I will have to buy something else - and not HP ever! oh and the warranty is out by less than 2 months!

    Welcome back burtf,
I am sorry to hear about the issue you are having with your Officejet 8500 showing a message for you to turn the printer off and on. I would recommend following the guide below for this issue.
