OfficeJet Pro 8000 Wireless all Control Panel lights blinking

I have had my OJP 8000 Wireless for almost two years now.
About six months ago, I came into my office and found all of the lights on the front blinking.  According to page 96 of the User Guide, "A non-recoverable error has occurred. Unplug the power cord, and then plug the power cord back in, and try printing."  Until you unplug the printer and restart it, printing may or may not occur.  Typically, the printer will not print.  If a document does print, it clears the blinking lights and the printer will operate until the lights all start blinking again.
When the problem started occuring it occured once or twice a week.  Now the problem seems to occur at least once every day, sometimes two or even three times per day.  While unplugging and plugging in clears the issue for the time being, within 24 hours, the lights are all blinking again. It's becoming particularly annoying when you print from somewhere else and then walk over to the printer only to find the lights are all blinking. You then power cycle it, walk back and re-print your document.  The practice is if you see the lights blinking, power cycle the printer so that you avoid someone not getting their output.
I have periodically checked ink levels and those are all supposedly fine.  I only use HP cartridges, so I would like to think that is not the issue.  The printer is attached to my Ethernet network via wire at 100Mb and wireless is disabled.   The printer gets printed to only a few times per day (under five times on average).  I have checked and I am on the latest firmware for this printer (BZM1FN1006BR), so I am at a loss as to what more I can do.

I also have been having this exact same problem for over two years now but never found a solution. I  think I have only printed out about 50 pages since I purchased the printer new in 2010 and at one point it just started doing this.  I can reset the printer by unplugging it and it will work temporarily; sometimes long enough to print out 2 or 3 pages but always goes back to the same faulting state within minutes. This happen whether or not it's connected to a network, USB, or nothing at all.  I also have the newest firmware and purchasing new ink cartridges about 15 months ago never fixed it. (They are nearly empty now and I don't think I have printed more than about 15 pages!)  Does anyone from HP know why the printer keeps faulting like this? I print so seldom that it's a shame for me to have to have to buy a new printer just so that I can print out the odd few pages every few months, and this one was expensive back when I purchased it and it's practically useless when it keeps faulting like this.

  • Multiple problems: OfficeJet Pro 8000 Wireless

We bought an HP OfficeJet Pro Wireless for our two Macs and it's been a nightmare. I've searched help guides and forums and am hoping you can help me fix the problems.
It takes 10 minutes to start up the printer each time. There is a lot whirring and noises coming.
Once it's finally, finally on it always can't print. I then usually have to reinstall the software from the CD using the USB cable and not wireless to get it to work, which it will then do exactly one time before I next need to use the printer, turn it on and have it refuse to print.
I have tried every configuration I can think of to no avail.
Currently I have just turned it on and I have a message saying that the printer is low on ink and cannot print. I have used this printer exactly 5 times and there is no way it's out of ink.
I apologise if I sound petulant, I've just never had such problems with any equipment and am worried we've made a very bad investment. I would truly appreciate any advice anyone can give.
    Our set up is:
Mac laptop and desktop, both running Leopard

I understand your frustration.  Here are a few tips:
    1. Don't turn your printer off.  If you HAVE to turn it off, don't do it with a power strip or by unplugging the cord.  Your printer will use ink (and quite a bit of it) to start up every time you turn it on.  This is especially true if the printer did not have power during its time powered-off.  You will bleed your ink cartridges dry very quickly this way.  All the whirring you hear is the sound of sucking ink through the nozzles to clean them.
    2. Set a static IP address for your printer.  Pick a number outside the range 192.168.1.64 to 192.168.1.237 that your HomeHub uses to issue dynamic IP addresses.  192.168.1.50 is a nice round number.  Here is how you do it:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - Click the Manual IP button and enter:
    192.168.1.50 for the IP address
    255.255.255.0 for the subnet
Leave the gateway and DNS blank
    - Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
Delete and re-add the printer in the print queue:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Select the printer in question and click the minus sign at the bottom of the list
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If this does not work, do the same thing, only instead of the second step, right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.

  • Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless Has Both Power and Resume Buttons Blinking

Using Vista operating system with my Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless.  The Power button and the Resume button are blinking at the same time.  I went through HP's recommended fixes step by step and it still has the same problem.  I've done all the resets, etc., etc. and I searched High and Low for a paper jam which these two blinking lights apparently indicate but could not locate even a tiny little piece of paper jammed.
Any help is appreciated and by the way, this printer has not been used a ton.  Simple average use and well below the monthly use rating.
    Thanks,  Rick

  • Printing problem - HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer, Red color fads on 4th copy

I have an HP HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer, and am trying to print 75 copies of a program for our event. After the first 5-6 pages the RED in my program starts to turn magenta. I have brand new HP ink, and am printing on HP Color Injet Paper. I have renectly replaced the Black/Yellow printhead (at least 6 months ago). At first when I cleaned the printheads, I could print 2 or 3 pages showing my RED color. Then turns back to magenta. When I received the test patterns after cleaning the print heads they are all perfect with no lines.
What is going on and how can I fix it?

    Hi TM1997,
I understand you have an Officejet 8500 Wireless that is not printing red properly, it keeps turning to magenta. I'm sorry to hear this, but I will definitely do my best to help you!
As I'm sure you saw, when replacing the black and yellow printhead, that there are two printheads in the Officejet 8500 and the second one controls the magenta and cyan. I would suggest that you first have a look through this Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues document. You can also manually clean your printhead with the steps in this 'The Following Printhead Appears to be Missing or Damaged' or 'The Following Printhead has a Problem... document.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • Printing problem - HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - printer head?

I posted this elsewhere, but I think I posted it on the wrong Forum so I am posting it here now. I hope I did not do anything to upset anyone. I am new to this area, please forgive my clumsiness.
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer. I've had my printer since December 2009 and no problems. I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 7 and had to go online to find the drivers that work for my printer. Windows 7 was not compatible with this printer.
Also recently, I am having a problem with what I think may be the black printer head, but when I run diagnostic on it everything comes back saying it is fine. However the problem still exist. When printing the black color will become faded in some areas and in some lines will not only almost totally fade out, but will almost look italic.
Can you tell me if this is the printer head and does it need replacing or is there another problem?
    SondraS

Are you using genuine HP cartridges and not refilled or third-party cartridges?
Print the Print Quality Diagnostic page from the setup menu/print report/ on the printer's front panel
Are there any quality issues with this page?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless, Mac OS 10.7.2 can't get it set up to run wireless

I have an iMac, OS 10.7.2, Airport Extreme router, and an HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless.  I recently replaced my router with an Airport Extreme.  My printer setup CD is for OS 10.4 or 10.5.  I'm trying to setup the 8000 wirelessly but without much luck.  As I understand it, the HP 8000 setup is now included in OS 10.7.  I followed some of the items from another post on this topic with OS 10.6.  Somehow I can't seem to get to the place were the printer install asks me to choose a network.  I have updated all of the software, setup a printer connected with a USB cable.

I figured this out (with some help from the Print Doc on "Is there driver for Deskjet 3050 for Mac OSX 10.7).  Once I stopped thinking like the Mac OS 10.6 approach with an hp utility things were easy.
    - delete any previously set up printers
    - scrub the old hp software
    - remove the usb cable from the printer if you have one connected
    - reset the printer network to hpsetup (press power button, network button 2x, cancel 3x, release power)
    - print out the wireless network test report (press network button and update button 2x). verify ssid is hsetup
    - change the mac wireless network to hpsetup
    - go to the sys pref > print scan
    - add the 8000 printer
    - click on the options and supplies and go to the printer webpage
    - use the network wizard and change the network from hpsetup to your network
    - finish
    - go back to the sys prefs and change the network to your network
    - go to the printer and print out the wireless network test report (press network button and update button 2x).  Check that the SSID is your network
    - try printing something to your printer.  It might take a little time the first print.

  • My Officejet Pro 8000 wireless printer prints to only 4x5" on 8x11 sheet when printing mult pages

My Officejet Pro 8000 wireless prints to only 4x5 inches on the 8x11 sheet when I try to print multiple pages per sheet from an Adobe file.  The print preview shows the paper dimensions to be 8x11, and the four Adobe pages are properly scaled to fill the 8x11 printed sheet, yet when printing, all the printing is condensed to the upper left quarter of the sheet.

  • Can't cure a "MSI.BufferChm - Error 1603" problem and install Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless software.

I'm trying to install an HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless A809N. OS = XP Pro SP3. I keep getting a message:
"Fatal error during installation.   [code 1603?]  [error situation code: 27764920]
The older version of BufferChm cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group."
I tried all the suggestions on this support page:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02455020&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us
except that in solution two, some of the services wouldn't turn off  due to "Access Denied".
I finally gave up and installed the basic drivers and hoped that once they were installed, I could install the full software. But no dice! How do I fix this "MSI.BufferChm" problem?
    Thanks.

I don't blame the consumer-users in this forum, but when HP advertises the forum so prominently in so many places as one of their "solutions", they should provide employee help here.
I googled and it seems to be a problem for a lot of folks.  And a lot of references back to this forum.  I didn't follow too many of them and didn't spot a solution.  There may be one - I just didn't see it.
This is from Microsoft and has several ideas I didn't see on the HP site.  Microsoft Link  Take a look.  MSI is a microsoft thing, not HP.
As for HP employees, there are some that monitor this group unofficially.  Hopefully you'll get some attention now.  Or at least from some of the other folks who may have even more computer fixit experience.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless Printer - A809n.says it's out of ink but has new cartridge

about 6 monhs ago the printer stopped printing stating it was a out of ink (black) after i replaced the cartridge it stopped again after about 10 days. i contacted HP and they basically told me to get a new printer. i decided to try a new cartridge again and reboot etc, etc. it still would work i use my other HP printer before looking to buy another. i read on the internet that this was a frequent problem with the HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless Printer - A809n. and it might be an printhead problem. i replaced the printhead and any low  or outdated ink cartridge. the printer worked perfectly for 4 weeks. now i am having the same problem. this sticks. it is leaving a bad taste . i have been a loyal HP user  i feel HP has made a questionable product and is not standing behind it.

  • Firmware update for HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless to fix load paper issue - as for the 8500?

Is there any hope that that soon will be a firmware update to fix the issues loading paper and the printheads for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless printer?
A month or two ago there came a firmware update to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 wireless, which has some of the same issues,
and allegedly should have the much of the same load-mechanism as the 8000 printer.
It would be great, as we are on the fourth (4) replacement of this HP 8000 printer. For example, it would be great if we could use normal (80g) paper and not has to use (HP) 90g paper, as this prevents us from using the duplexer and only print on one side.

Thanks for the advice to contact HP tech support!
I have tried in multiple ways since November 2009 to contact HP, when I got the first (of 4) printers. The first 3 printers was subsequently replaced.
Finally in late June 2010 I got the message that there was coming an firmware update for Windows, but not for Mac's. The firmware should improve among other things the paper pick up (load paper issue) and the print-heads life.
I have applied the Windows firmware on the printer from a pc, but still seems to have load-paper issues, even using HP Bright White paper, when printing from Mac's. I have not tested the printing from a pc, but assumes that a firmware upgrade the printer, and are not specific to a certain OS.

  • Printing to hp officejet pro 8000 wireless

After my 10-year-old DeskJet was incinerated by lightning, I purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 Wireless. Now I cannot print CD inserts; the driver says the printer is offline. However, I can then successfully print a Word document, for example, without making any changes.

    Hi there,
On the IOS system, if you have e-print installed you have two options for printing wirelessly - through e-Print or AirPrint.
To print from AirPrint (which comes pre-installed on apple devices) , you take the route that you have outlined - if no wireless printer is found then there has been a problem during setup that you should be able to fix with the help of the AirPrint troubleshhoting steps below:
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-topics/mobile-printing/mobile-print-help-iphone-ipad.html
If the e-Print app is installed you also have the option to print using the e-Print app. The route to printing here involves opening the appa nd selecting the content that you want to print. You'll still need to be able to find your wireless printer so if you have any issues, the troubleshooting guide below shoudl help:

  • Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-In-One Windows 8 driver not working

    Hello!
I recently got a new Dell Inspiron computer running the 64-bit version of Windows 8, and I have an Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-In-One Printer from a long time ago. I don't have the disc version of the driver, since I purchased the printer before Windows 8 came out, so I tried to download it from the HP website. Whenever I try to run it, however, it says that it is extracting, but once the extract is finished, nothing happens. The Installation Wizard doesn't pop up, and there is no error message explaing it. Help please?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Can I check if your Officejet Pro 8500 is A909 or A910?  Alternatively, you can install the class driver built into Windows 8 to print to your printer.  There are also a couple of Windows Store apps (HP AiO Remote and HP Scan and Capture) that would work with your printer.
