Hello Minabird4
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand that your wireless radio is not working on your HP Officejet 8500. This could be a hardware issue if the wireless card has failed completely, but I would like you to try the HP Support document: Performing a Partial Reset of the All-in-One. If resetting the printer as the document gets you to do does not fix the issue, it would be recommended that you contacted HP technical support for repair options.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909g All-in-One series, Printer Won`t print

The printer will not print from my computer running windows 7- 64bit.  I am connected wirelessly through a Lynksys router with both the computer and printer, Howerver; I cannot get the printer to print from the computer. I have tried reinstalling the software from the cd that came with the printer and I also downloaded and installed the most up-to-date software and  drivers from the HP site. Occasionally the printer will print out a job, but only when the computer is shutdown and restarted or sometimes after sitting in queue for a long period of time, but neither of these always work. I`m stumped.....

    Hi FGG,
I understand you're missing a driver for your Officejet Pro 8500 printer. I'd be happy to help you with this!
If you click here you can download the full software package for your printer, including the drivers. Just click next when the page loads (it should be able to detect your operating system) and then scroll down to where it says Driver - Product Installation Software, and proceed to download the HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver. I recommend saving it to your computer to make things easier as well.
If this was not what you're looking for please let me know more specifically what the issue is.
Hope this helps, have a great day!

  • Hp officejet pro 8500 premier all-in-one printer

The above printer is 1 1/2 years old and it has stopped printing.  When the printing became light, I installed new print cartridges less than a week ago.  Now, after five days, the printer is consistently cleaning the print heads and aligning the print heads and my documents are not being printed.  And, what is most frustrating, during all the cleaning and aligning, all of my new ink is gone and I'm receiving a message replace ink cartridges.
Re: Problem with HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: cleans printheads every time it's turned on

    Well,
to this is say, "get used to it", or throw it away.  Many, Many, Many people have had trouble with this printer.
The following are common and frustrating issues that this printer exhibits on a regular basis:
    1.  Constant Self-Checking (usually every 20-30 pages of print)
    2. Very persistant Printhead Cleaning/Checking, (Every startup and after about 20-30 pages printed).
    3. Worn-out printheads (usually within 1,100 to 1,500 pages printed).
    4. Paper mis-feeds.
    5. Paper jams.
    6. Nearly impossible to use once the printer reports ink-depletion.
    7. Nearly impossible to use CIS Ink for larger print jobs.
    8. Ink and printheads "expire" regardless of when they are placed into service. (get a deal on ink or printheads last year?  Too bad, the warranty is already expired, most likely).
In short, this printer is the most EXPENSIVE printer I've ever owned, and the most frustrating to use.
I have just over 2,000 pages of regular text printed matter with very little color, and have already gone through 4 sets of ink, and 2 sets of PrintHeads.
Although it's true that you can leave the unit on, and let it go into standby, you should NOT be punished with constant and time-consuming "self-checking" everytime it's turned on, or prints a handful of pages, BUT, it does NOT appear that HP will be standing behind this printer disaster.  AND, to make things worse, they've gone on to redesign it, giving it a different look, and so there are about 6 different models/versions of the OfficeJet Pro 8500.
Anyone needing a reliable print/fax/scan/copy solution should look beyond this printer, because it will leave you wanting more, and spending more than you ever imagined you would have to on a late model printer.ro
What is going on?  Why does it just automatically clean and align?  I also get alignment failed messages.  Any suggestiions?

    rammerjammer,
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, your feedback is very important and I want to do my best to help.  To answer what is going on, since the printing became light, started cleaning itself constantly, and fails the alignment, the printhead was damaged.  Click here to see and use the Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges, Printheads, and Related Supplies.  There are many ways to contact HP.  The number to call is 1-800-474-6836 for HP and Compaq products for Home & Home Office use.  If you no longer have a warranty with the printer you can still use the warranty that comes with the printhead or ink cartridges.
If you have a carepack with the printer that extended the one year warranty then the troubleshooting will be covered along with the printer if the printer needs replacing.  Check product warranty here, see HP Out of Warranty Support Options for Select HP Consumer Printers here.
To order a new printhead you can go to HP Sure Supply and enter your printer or go to the HP Parts Store and order the printhead by part number C4900A for the Black and yellow and part number C4901A for the Cyan Magenta.  These printheads go by region also so be sure you are using the right region, these were found using the United States region.
The HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One printer has separated the ink cartridges from the printheads.  The ink cartridges are on the lower left and the removable print heads are on the carriage inside the printer.  The printer goes through a calibration process when turned on that will use ink.  Leave the printer on and let it go into stand by mode.  This type of printer is energy star efficient and made to calibrate on start up and be left on.  Allow the printer to clean or calibrate only if the printer must.  If it starts cleaning a lot it may be time to do a little maintenance to the printer (recommend once a month for maintenance).  Please see the following links for further details.

Printer Paper Tears, Wrinkles, or is Damaged while Printing from the All-in-One
Paper Path Issues in the Automatic Document Feeder
    Officejet Pro 8500 User Guide
The printer has a duty cycle of 7.5k page/month.  The XL cartridges have a composite page yield of 1.4k pages with about a third of the black ink left over.  To me it would seem that the printhead should last somewhere in between.  This printer was designed to save money on ink compared to the rest of the officejets.  I hate that it has been causing so much trouble, hopefully the information I provided will help.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909G – The HP Imaging Device was not found

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless A909G.  My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit that was upgraded from the original Windows Vista 64bit that came installed on my HP Pavilion Elite m9400t CTO Desktop PC.
After performing the Windows 7 upgrade I installed OJP8500vA909_Full_13 to support the 8500, and everything worked fine.
I recently noticed that the scanner function had stopped working from Solution Center, and uninstalled V13.  I downloaded and installed OJP8500vA909_Full_14.  The install completes without error, but then I get scanner error “The HP imaging device was not found”  with extended error code 8, [(1,0, -2147221164)].
I have performed all the suggested Solution Center steps to resolve the error without success. Including:
    1) Updated the firmware to OfficejetPro8500A909g_R1006B_ENG
    2) Ran OJP8500vA909_Corporate_Scrubber_14
    3) Uninstalled all programs, deleted %temp% files, and changed the startup using MSCONFIG.
    4) Deleted all other imaging programs including camera software, and reinstalled.
    5) Performed HP Update and installed network fix.
I have performed these steps many times and keep getting the same error.   The scanner works using the front panel function “Scan to network folder.
    Please help.

  • Officejet pro 8500 premier all-in-one

good morning from a frustrated user of a new 8500.  a few days ago we junked our other all-in-one and bought the new one ref above.  this init is equipped for wireless operation like our otherone was by using an hp print server.  we are using a netgear range max dual band wireless-n usb adapter on our computer.  when we insered the install disc and went through all of the directions several times the computer would not recognize the 8500.  the store then told me to hook the printer direct with usb cables and after doing that and rerunning the disc the printer worked fine.  however when i removed the cables and reran the cd for wireless it would not operater the all-in-one.
please help and thanks to evryone in advance.

Have you run the Wireless Setup Wizard to connect the printer to your router? If not, then do this first. Touch Setup(the Wrench symbol on the display)>Network Settings>Wireless Setup Wizard. This will let you choose your router and enter any security key. Then the printer should connect to your network.
Now unplug the USB cable and run the install CD again. Either select Add A Device or Install from the autorun menu. This time, the software should find the printer on the network and install it.

  • C7250 All in one Wireless radio not working

I have a C7250 All in one printer that suddenly the wireless stopped working.  I ran the wireless test and it says the radio is on but the radio fails. The wireless LED is on, any suggestion on what could be the problem?

Shut off the printer.  Hold the # and 6 keys while and a for a few seconds after turning it back on.
If that does not work, it is toast.  You could plug it into your router with an Ethernet cable and it would have the same functionality and still work with wirelessly connected computers.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 e-all in one; "HP Solutions Center, Web Printing, etc did not install.

Windows 7; Wireless network; Today I installed my new Officejet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one wireless printer. When finished I was able to print, I set up e-print, and the scanner works, but could not find what used to be called the "HP Solutions Center" that I could click on to choose scanning, check ink supply, get "Help", and so on.  An HP 8600 printer icon installed on the desktop, but when I clicked it, it was just a bunch of meaningless jibberish but had no function. I went to "Start", then HP, and was able to somehow get a "Scan Icon" to open.  I did not get the option to set up "WEBPRINT", nor REGISTER MY PRODUCT,  and so on. In other words, the installation did not finish. I tried putting the CD back in, but no additional options were available except to re-configure, etc.  Thank you for your help.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Wireless - Can't Clear Print Que - Vista SP 1

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909G Wireless printer which is set up wireless through a router.  Used to be able to print to this printer from any computer in the house except now.  I tried to print a document from my HP Pavilion laptop to the printer; it didn't print.  I tried multiple things, didn't work, so tried cancelling the document from the print que.  For 2 days now it has the print que has showed this document as "deleting", pages 6/2, shows date and time of request to cancel print job.  I went into Control Panel, right-clicked on the printer and chose "cancel all documents" and the print que still shows this document as deleting.  No ability to cancel printer job from the physical printer itself.  I've tried restarting the computer to see if it would clear the que; it doesn't.  Read through previous posts and tried several of the suggestions; nothing works.  Can no longer use this laptop to work and print.  HELP!  Vicki

I have had to delete the printer, search for it again, and re-install it!

  • Problem Connecting HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 a909g to Wireless Router LinkSys EA6300

Hi- Please help. I just got a new computer and am trying to set up my printer wirelessly to connect to my computer. With my old computer, I had it connected via a wired usb connection because I could not get the wireless setup to work. I would like to get the wireless figured out now that I have multiple devices.
I tried to connect my printer (HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g) to my wireless Router (Linksys EA6300), followed the prompts 'Setup -> Network -> Wireless Setup Wizard' on the front pane of the printer. It was unable to find my wireless router. I tried putting in my router name/SSID and WPA password and it still cannot locate the router. I am assuming this is a router setting issue, but I am not sure what to change to get my printer to be able to find the router for the wireless connection. I would really appreciate if someone could help me.

    Hi,
To better understand the issue, can the printer see other networks in your area? can your PC see multiple networks or only your router's SSID (in order to deny any issue with the wireless radio of the printer).
As I can see the EA6300 is a dual band router.
The first thing to check is that your router being set to broadcast a wireless signal using the 2.4GHz band, the pritner doe not support the 5.0GHz band and will not see a router configured to broadcast in such a band.
As well I would ensure that you do not have any other device which broadcast the same SSID as your router, as your router more likewly configured to broadcast both 2.4 ang 5.0 GHz bands (As a Dual Band router) I would also ensure that a different SSID being set for each band (e.g. home_24 / home 5)
YOu may contact the router service provider for further assistant with your router configuration, you may also try following its user guide below:

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Crashes My Internet

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g printer connected through a Netgear WNDR3400v2 router which is then shared through 3 computers all running Windows 7 Home Premium, in fact they are all identical. Now for the problem it seems that every time I turn on my printer, it seems to crash the internet, which is fine if your printing stuff offline, but when your trying to print stuff from the internet it is an issue. Before this point, it was nothing besides having to reinstall the printer periodically, although before it started crashing the internet it seemed that I had to reinstall the printer every time I wanted to print something.
I first noticed it about 2 weeks ago, and just brushed it off at first, I thought that it was just a minor glitch, and it would work itself out, but apparently I was wrong. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
If more information is required, please feel free to ask, so I can solve this problem.

I was able to resolve this by assigning a static IP to the printer.
Turn on the printer and have it connect to the wireless network, where it will find an IP address.
After it is on the network
From the front panel of the printer, go Tools (the wrench icon)
    Select Network
    Select Advanced Setup
    Select IP Settings
    Select Manual
Select all the settings as they are.  Record the IP address that it has been assigned
Log into the router admin screen http://routerlogin.net
    Click on the Advanced Tab
Under the Settings button, select Lan Setup
    Under Address Reservation, click Add
All the devices on your network will be shown.  Select the one with the IP of the printer.
    Hit Add
You may need to go back to the Basic Tab, Select Internet, and then select Test, just to re-establish the internet connection if it got lost at the beginning

  • Printer keeps printing (HP Officejet pro 8500 A909g)

I'm currently running a HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g wireless all-in-one printer off a wireless network - my laptop running Vista Basic.
My printer has started the Christmas season by printing the document I send to it repeatedly... whether this is a windows problem or something specific to the printer I don't know - has anyone come across this before?
There are no error messages on the printer, it's just happily printing page after page... (until I kill it in the print dialogue).  Advice appreciated! :-)

I am having this very same problem and have been chasing it since August.  Here are some of the characteristics I have notices:
    - I have several machines attached to this printer.  All of them using the wireless connection.  It only happens in Windows Vista (Home premium in my case).  All my windows machines do not have this problem at all
    - No multiple copies option has been setup
    - Seems to happen with Windows Office applications (Word, ppt, publisher), Internet Explorer, and .pdf files.  In the windows office, my word and power point are version 2002 SP3.  Publisher is version 2003.
    - I have installed, deleted, re-installed drivers several times with no luck
    - I uses A909n (8500 premier)
    - Files might or might not reproduce the problem.  I can print the file and it will give me multiple copies.  I can then close and immediately open and print and I will not get multiple copies
    - In my case the number of copies seems random.  Usually in the 6-12 copies range
How do I live with this?  Well it annoys me, but when I print if I notice that I am getting multiple copies, I go to the printer queue on Windows and delete the job.  Since my main computer is XP, the problem is not so huge, but my wife's computer is one of the vista computers and she likes to abuse her "IT guy" (me).  So it is certainly an annoyance.  I am convinced it is the printer driver, but I cannot prove it.
Anything you want me to try, I would be willing to (except re-install windows... I ain't doing that for a printer).

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g seems to destroy printheads

My wife and I have identical “HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Series” (S/N: [Edited for Personal Information] for my printer) printers bought within several months of each other. We have owned the printers since late 2009.
My printer quit printing cyan completely and magenta partially. I replaced both ink cartridges, which did not fix the problem.  I then removed the printheads and cleaned the electrical contacts with denatured alcohol and also cleaned the contacts in the printer.  This did not fix the problem either.
So I “borrowed” the printheads from my wife’s identical printer and placed it into my printer. That didn’t fix the problem either.  When I put the borrowed printheads back into my wife’s printer, it immediately displayed the same symptoms as my printer (it wouldn’t print cyan at all and partially did not print magenta.
The “Self Test Diagnostic Page” of both printers state that the printheads are “Good” in both printers.
During the “Align Printer” task, the LCD on the printer displays a message indicating that the printhead(s) are bad.
Question: is it possible that the printer itself is faulty and causing the printheads to permanently not work correctly?
Second Question: If my printer is bad, what other similar models of all-in-one printers use the same ink cartridges?

    Hello Neil-in-Tucson,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the Printheads on your printer.
Are you seeing any error codes on the printers display screen?
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
