Officejet Pro 8500 Premier won't print (Mac OSX 10.6)

The printer is detected by my computer and is able to interact with it, but it refuses to print.  I restored factory settings with no luck.  I downloaded the HP software/drivers for my laptop, ran setup, everything worked...still won't print.  Any ideas please!?!
Thanks!

Hi Stonesp85,
Is there any error message pops out on printer front panel or on the PC?
Are you able to print out any self-test page like Product Status Report or Network configuration page ( in Setup -> Reports)?
this is just a quick test for your printer hardware.
to fully validate you printer hardware, I suggest you download "HP Hardware diagnostic Utility" in below link and run it:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&jumpid=ex_r4155/hho/ipg/ccdoc/h...
if there is no problem found on printer hardware, please make sure that you installed the right driver, below is the link for the printer driver on Mac OSX 10.6:

Hope it helps you.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 Premier doesn't print black, only color

The OfficeJet Pro 8500 was printing normally, then it began cycling repeatedly through cleaning the printhead so I turned it off and back on. I also replaced the black ink cartridge. Now it prints as requested with normal functionality in my hoome network, but it only prints the color features of a page, not black.
    Please help.

    Hello LindaSN,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with printing black ink.
I do have a few suggestions we can try in that attempt to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also done some research and I have found a great document that deals with Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer Series (A909).
Please feel free to write me back if you have any other questions or concerns.
    Cheers,

  • HP Officejet pro 8500 A910 won't print wirelessly

    "An error has occurred. (devInfoPage-503)".
I've had my Officejet pro 8500 A910 for less than 6 months.  It was an easy set up and printed and scanned perfectly for at least 2 months.  I use a wireless connection from my laptop which is running Windows 7.  Then a few months ago I started having problems scanning wirelessly from the printer pad, it would tell me that there was no computer connected. If I went to my laptop and went into the HP Document Manager it would scan the document and save it to my laptop just fine.  And I could still print - the laptop had no problem finding the printer.
About a month ago I had a really big print job for work.  But I figured this was a sturdy printer and could handle it.  Towards the end though the printer would stop printing for no apparent reasoning with the keypad just showing the spooling circle and saying "printing".  The only way to get it to actually print was to unplug the computer, delete the print job and start again.
Then for a while I had to do that every time I wanted to print, even after the "big print job" was long over, and still no scanning from the printer (will scan from the laptop).
I've tried several times uninstalling and reinstalling the software.  I've checked to make sure the printer is included in the "home network".
Today I reinstalled the software at the Control Panel on my laptop I get the green checkmark meaning the printer is set up and ready to go, but when I try to print a self  test page I get this message "An error has occurred. (devInfoPage-503)".  Any help in solving this problem would be much appreciated.  Thank you so much for your time.

My Office jet has printed fine wirelessly for 6 months but started to not recognise the computer.  re starting worked for while but now it will not recognise the computer at all.  The computer says  Scanner communication cannot be established and the printer says it sees the computer.
Why did it work but now won't?
    Thanks,
    Billy

  • Hp officejet pro 8500 premier all-in-one printer

The above printer is 1 1/2 years old and it has stopped printing.  When the printing became light, I installed new print cartridges less than a week ago.  Now, after five days, the printer is consistently cleaning the print heads and aligning the print heads and my documents are not being printed.  And, what is most frustrating, during all the cleaning and aligning, all of my new ink is gone and I'm receiving a message replace ink cartridges.

    Well,
to this is say, "get used to it", or throw it away.  Many, Many, Many people have had trouble with this printer.
The following are common and frustrating issues that this printer exhibits on a regular basis:
    1.  Constant Self-Checking (usually every 20-30 pages of print)
    2. Very persistant Printhead Cleaning/Checking, (Every startup and after about 20-30 pages printed).
    3. Worn-out printheads (usually within 1,100 to 1,500 pages printed).
    4. Paper mis-feeds.
    5. Paper jams.
    6. Nearly impossible to use once the printer reports ink-depletion.
    7. Nearly impossible to use CIS Ink for larger print jobs.
    8. Ink and printheads "expire" regardless of when they are placed into service. (get a deal on ink or printheads last year?  Too bad, the warranty is already expired, most likely).
In short, this printer is the most EXPENSIVE printer I've ever owned, and the most frustrating to use.
I have just over 2,000 pages of regular text printed matter with very little color, and have already gone through 4 sets of ink, and 2 sets of PrintHeads.
Although it's true that you can leave the unit on, and let it go into standby, you should NOT be punished with constant and time-consuming "self-checking" everytime it's turned on, or prints a handful of pages, BUT, it does NOT appear that HP will be standing behind this printer disaster.  AND, to make things worse, they've gone on to redesign it, giving it a different look, and so there are about 6 different models/versions of the OfficeJet Pro 8500.
Anyone needing a reliable print/fax/scan/copy solution should look beyond this printer, because it will leave you wanting more, and spending more than you ever imagined you would have to on a late model printer.ro
What is going on?  Why does it just automatically clean and align?  I also get alignment failed messages.  Any suggestiions?

    rammerjammer,
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, your feedback is very important and I want to do my best to help.  To answer what is going on, since the printing became light, started cleaning itself constantly, and fails the alignment, the printhead was damaged.  Click here to see and use the Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges, Printheads, and Related Supplies.  There are many ways to contact HP.  The number to call is 1-800-474-6836 for HP and Compaq products for Home & Home Office use.  If you no longer have a warranty with the printer you can still use the warranty that comes with the printhead or ink cartridges.
If you have a carepack with the printer that extended the one year warranty then the troubleshooting will be covered along with the printer if the printer needs replacing.  Check product warranty here, see HP Out of Warranty Support Options for Select HP Consumer Printers here.
To order a new printhead you can go to HP Sure Supply and enter your printer or go to the HP Parts Store and order the printhead by part number C4900A for the Black and yellow and part number C4901A for the Cyan Magenta.  These printheads go by region also so be sure you are using the right region, these were found using the United States region.
The HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One printer has separated the ink cartridges from the printheads.  The ink cartridges are on the lower left and the removable print heads are on the carriage inside the printer.  The printer goes through a calibration process when turned on that will use ink.  Leave the printer on and let it go into stand by mode.  This type of printer is energy star efficient and made to calibrate on start up and be left on.  Allow the printer to clean or calibrate only if the printer must.  If it starts cleaning a lot it may be time to do a little maintenance to the printer (recommend once a month for maintenance).  Please see the following links for further details.
    Cleaning the Printhead Contacts
Printer Paper Tears, Wrinkles, or is Damaged while Printing from the All-in-One
Paper Path Issues in the Automatic Document Feeder
    Officejet Pro 8500 User Guide
The printer has a duty cycle of 7.5k page/month.  The XL cartridges have a composite page yield of 1.4k pages with about a third of the black ink left over.  To me it would seem that the printhead should last somewhere in between.  This printer was designed to save money on ink compared to the rest of the officejets.  I hate that it has been causing so much trouble, hopefully the information I provided will help.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 Premier - only one printhead is displayed in 'Printheads Health' window

I changed the black/yellow printhead today in my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier printer.  When I closed the lid, the printer did its housekeeping thing, clicking away while it aligned heads, etc, and printed out a diagnostic sheet that looked terrific.
So I wanted to see what the HP Utility would report as the health of both printheads now.  Only the Cyan/Magenta printhead health was displayed, both before I changed the printhead and now after I changed the printhead.  The utility reported the Cyan/Magenta printhead was in GOOD condition, along with a green button.
But there was no image of the Black/Yellow printhead at all, so no button showing the health of the printhead that I just installed.
While I was installing the new printhead, I wiped off the gold contacts on the printer where the printhead's contacts would meet.  They were  clean.
Any suggestions aboutwy the software does not display the health of BOTH printheads?
My operating system is Mac OS X 10.6.8

    Hello garden-2009,

  • I have my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A connected to my Mac Book Pro on a Wireless network. It works and

I have my Hp Officejet Pro 8500 A connected to my MAc Book Pro which is running Lion OS on a wireless network.  It works just fine and prints and everything.  The problem is a "HP Utility" window that pops up on my screen and says it is "connecting to device" and lists my printer.  It just runs and runs and the entire thing is gray - meaning I can't close it, cancel it, or anything. When you try to click on it, the arrow becomes the color wheel of death.   It is driving me crazy.  I have gone through settings, I have downloaded the latest drivers, I have looked in utilities, I have opened the printer folder and can't find where this thing is coming from or how to turn it off.  Please help.  And yes I have turned offf the computer and rebooted.

If you are using Snow Leopard or Lion and have HP software for pre-Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard or Lion and had the HP software on your Mac before you upgraded - even if you did a standard uninstall of the old software or installed new software over the top of it) you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Now reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If you want more features, you can download and install the Full Featured software from the "Support & Drivers" button at the top of this page, otherwise, basic printing and scanning will work without it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Cracked Touch Pad on Officejet Pro 8500 Premier

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier Wireless All-in-one printer (#A909n). The touch pad is cracked and I'm wondering if it can be replaced. I can't find the part in the online listing. The printer is functioning (by computer and buttons), but it is hard to copy or change any of the copy-defaults by using the touch pad. Thanks in advance for your help.

HP does not recommend refilling the ink cartridges it may cause damage to our printer. It does sound like the chip on the ink cartridges is not seeing that the ink is full, try replacing the cartridge with a genuine HP Ink Cartridge and see if the issue is resolved.

  • Alignment failed Officejet Pro 8500 Premier

    Hi,
I own a HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier and the problem begun while printing a color document. The yellow disapeared. It's been about a month I changed all the ink cartridges. I use the printer regularly but not on a heavy usage. (about 7000 pages within 3.5 years)
I then tried to clean the printheads, align the print heads but still no yellow.
I then opened the cover to see if the tubes were well connected. I presses the star buttom to make the printheads possible to be seen. It's hard to see but I noticed air bubbles in the yellow tube.
I then closed the cover and the printer begun a printhead alignment. Before it finishes, the message align failed!. I pressed OK
the printer looks like crazy Can't do anything. It still entering in printhead alignment mode ending with the alignment failed message. Half the color cartridges has been consumes in these processes.... at 40$ each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do someone see anything I can do?
    Thanks

    Hi
Finally exited from alignment process but almost no yellow left in the brand new cartridge and still no yellow printed on paper.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 Premier will not install softare

I bought a new HP computer running Windows 7 to replace an old HP computer running Windows 7.  The Solution Center software did not install.  I have spent a total of 6 hours with two different HP reps and I still do not have the full feature software installed correctly.  After my latest attempt using the support site instructions,  have a huge paper weight that will not print and no Solution Center.  Please help.

    Hi @Jim_Cone ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your Officejet Pro 8500 Premier and not being able to install the software of Solution Center.
First, try to click the Windows icon, type services in the Search box, and then click or tap View Local Services. Scroll down to the Windows Installer. Startup type should be - Automatic, and Service Status should be - started
Restart the computer after this step and try installing again.
If that does not help you could try the Microsoft Fixit.
It would be helpful to know what they did try and did you receive any error messages.
Are you able to make a copy?
Did they try the HP Print Install Wizard?
    Please let me know.

  • Paper Jam error message due to broken gear on Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one printer

3 year old HP Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one printer (haven't used it much). Keeps telling "Paper Jam" although there is no paper jammed anywhere (searched meticulously with a flashlight after watching HP's tutorial videos on how to clear paper jams). I started searching on the Internet and found a couple of related videos on Youtube that pointed me in the right direction:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMFW1RRlDHEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwbF2Vs_0gQ  I could hear a clicking noise on that area of the printer each time I turned it on, so I carefully took the black cap apart that was hidding the gear, and confirmed I had the same problem as in the youtube videos above. See picture below showing the white plastic gear part that has a large crack which causes the Paper Jam error message and renders the printer unusable. After Googling a little bit, seems like a relatively common issue and wonder why such a part like that is not made of a stronger material like metal (planned obsolescence maybe?). Does anybody know if there is a way of replacing the broken gear?  (I really care for the environment and I would like to avoid having to throw the relatively new and expensive all-in-way printer away) Thanks a lot in advance for the advice!

Hey ,  Thanks for posting in the HP Support Forum.  I do see that a cracked gear in your HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer is impeding all functionality.  I would like to help you with this but that particular part is not replaceable.  I recommend you reach out to our tech support team to find out what servicing options you have available. • HP OfficeJet Pro L7590 suddenly won't print yellow ink.

My OfficeJet Pro L7590 suddenly won't print yellow ink.  The cartridge isn't empty.  It still prints everything else.  Things that require yellow ink come out a different color (ie: green comes out blue).  I've cleaned the printheads several times from the "tools" menu and the report says the printheads are in "good" condition.  I've also tried soaking the printheads in hot water for 5 min like was mentioned on here.  Still nothing.  Any suggestions?

If you have, and still see bad red and green blocks on the PQ Diagnostic page (as described in the document), you may have to replace the black/yellow printhead (even if the printhead health is reported as 'good'). You can check your warranty on that printhead here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&docname=c00206040
