Officejet Pro 8600 - Slanted lines will not print smooth

I just purchased this printer and use it for home-office. I do a lot of graphics which have slanted lines throughout the documents.
These print very rough and jagged instead of smooth from one end to the other. I have aligned the printheads several times, but this
feature doesn't show any linear contrasts, only small colored blocks, etc. Is there another alignment process I should be using?

If you're a non-designer, you might not be aware of resolution issues. It could be that your slanted lines look fine on the screen because the monitor doesn't need anything higher than 72dpi (or 96dpi for a PC).
If you *are* a designer, you already know about resolution and raster and vector ... but could you maybe sort of forgotten to rasterize a vector line? Or maybe pasted a CMYK image into an RGB document? I'm just askin' because I bin der dun dat.

HP Officejet Pro 8500   Cyan ink will not print. installed a new one, but no success

I had to replace both printheads about $85 a piece.  It may be more cost effective to buy a new printer.  Once I replaced the one printhead, the other one went out.  It is common and it did solve the issue.  I really like my printer and if it gets me another year or so, I think it was worth it.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 touch screen will not respond

    Hi,
I have the HP Officejet Pro 8600 and the touch pad will not turn on. The power is on! I actualy cannot turn it off by pressing the off button, even when I unplug it and plug it back in it is like it was never unplugged. This all started when I updated my MAC to the new operating system and then I noticed where the paper comes out there were blue blinking lights. I pressed the off button and the lights stopped, but now nothing will respond. This is a wireless printer. Please advise what to do.
    Thank you,

    Hello Tanyaward,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the touch pad not responding or lighting up.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Once the printer is connected to a wall outlet, please  attempt to use the power button to turn the unit off and then back on again.  This will do a semi reset on the unit.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless A909g Will not print or align

Not sure what the problem is: was printing fine till suddenly no ink on paper. Unit sounds like it's going through all the motions but lays no ink. Windows 7 home Pro 64bit. Error message: Alignment cancelled. I went through all the suggested steps...cleaned printheads number of times, all the steps for alignment. Did not replace the printheads yet. Could both go bad at the same exact moment? I get absolutly no ink on the paper, not a drop. Don't know if this is enough info. Hope so. Thanks in advance for any possible solutions.
    LP

    Hi SunWay,
I understand you no longer have any ink printing on your pages and can not complete an alignment. From your description, I can see you have done a great deal of troubleshooting. It is not all that likely that both printheads would go at the same time but it is entirely possible. Another possibility is that the ink supply tubes are kinked. Please follow these steps to check the ink supply tubes:
Open the printer lid. The carriage moves to the left side of the printer. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
Look in the center of the printer for the four ink tubes that connect to the printhead, and then examine the ink tubes. The ink tubes should be bundled neatly, and they should not appear kinked or bent.
Ink tubes, correctly bundled and not kinked
The above solution and more can be found in the following document. If the issue persists, please use the document to troubleshoot the issue.
If the issue continues to persist, I recommend calling HP and letting the know the issue as well as the steps you have already completed. It may be helpful to even let them know you completed all of the steps in HP document #c04261974.

  • HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus. Will not print from the internet

    Hello all
Today my printer decided to 'throw' up a blank page ontop of the internet page I was trying to print.
I asked the printer to print from the right hand mouse button drop down menu, then, 'print'.
Then the white page pops up . You can see the internet around the edges.
The printer will print my own docs and photos.
Maybe I altered something in the settings this morning but I can't remember what I did?
Has anyone any ideas? I do hope so . Thank-You Redocean

Product Name: HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a
    OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit
I noticed the problem: After I scanned a medical card that was 80% cyan.
Problem: The problem persists when scanning/copying using the ADF or using the scanner glass bed.
Only occurs during color scanning or copying.  I can print a file from my laptop or home pc with no issues, as long as the color file did NOT come from my printer.
If I had scanned the small O'Riley's note in black & white there would have been no streaking.
I have reset, used the HPP Dr., cleaned the glass, etc, & followed Solutions 1 - 3 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c02881567&lc=en&product=4323659&tmp...

    Hi @Veritasabt,
I see that you are having issues scanning and copying in color from the glass and the ADF. Thank you for providing the screen shot. I can help you out today.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Update the printer's firmware. HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a Firmware.
Try scanning again to see if you have the same results.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a printer assistant

    Hi!
So, I replaced an HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Plus with an HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911. Subsequently the HP Printer Assistant desktop shortcut disappeared from my computer --  and apparently from the computer entirely because it eludes searches as well. So multiple times (like, 20 times) I have removed and reinstalled the printer on this computer because sometimes -- not every time, infuriatingly -- immediately after installing the printer from the online driver, the Printer Assistant opens -- but there doesn't appear to be a way create a desktop shortcut for it. As soon as I close it, it's gone forever, and it's just not practical to have the Printer Assistant open all the time. The next time I want to scan something wirelessly, I have to go through the process again. It's driving me insane.
Is there any way to download just the HP printer assistant software, or some sneaky way to create a shortcut for it? It's the only efficient way for me to interact with the printer for scanning (the bulk of the printer's usefulness) at my home office, and if I cannot get it to work consistently, this will be the last HP product I buy.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Cant WiFi connect HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer to internet

I cant WiFi connect HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer to internet... at least I think that is the problem. I have followed all the instructions on HP Print and Scan Doctor as well as Troubleshoot HP Installation Failure. My router is running fine for everything else and I have entered the static address for the printer into the router.  It appears that my printer believes it is connected to my WiFi (Ihave WPS it multiple times), but when I type it's IP address into my IE nothing shows up. My router doesn't appear to see the printer either. I have the latest driver installed on my computer. I suspect this may be a router issue: new router Asus Double 450 Mbps  N Router (Dual band - but it appears my router is using the 2.4Hz band to communicate with WPS). Windows 7 64.
    Any help is appreciated!

    Hello NRHII,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to connect the Officejet 8600 over a wireless connection. I will do my best to assist you! I would recommend power cycling the router, printer and computer:
    1) Turn off your printer
    2) Disconnect the power cord from the back of the router
    3) Restart your computer
    4) Wait less than 60 seconds, plug the power cord back into the router
    5) Turn your printer back on, wait for the computer to turn on
Is the wireless light blinking on your printer? If so, please reconnect the wireless on your printer by using the wireless setup wizard: (This information is stated here.)
On the printer touch screen, touch the Right Arrow ( ) to display the second navigation screen.
Touch the Setup icon ( ).
Touch Network , touch Wireless Setup Wizard , and then touch Continue . The printer searches for available networks.
Touch the name of your network, and then touch OK .
If prompted, enter the network password, and then touch OK . The printer connects to the network.
Also, as I was typing this post TreeFrog posted some great information to follow.
Have you followed this entire HP document on Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection? If not, follow this document. Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 All-In-One Inkjet Printer

Hello, I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 All-In-One Inkjet Printer.  It started out working fine, but the touchscreen got lighter and lighter and would finally go out.  Now, I cannot see the screen at all and therefore am unable to use the printer.  I tried to delete the printer from my computer and reload the driver, but the driver requires that I use the touchscreen to initiate installation of the wireless capabilities and so forth.  Without being able to have the touchscreen light up, I am unable to see and follow the directions to hook it back up to the computer.  Any ideas?  Does HP make a replacement touchscreen for this product?  I bought this one because I have another one that works perfectly at home and was hoping to use this one at work.  Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Wayne3
I saw your post about how the display screen on your Officejet 8600 has gotten lighter and lighter until the display was unreadable. I have a few ideas in mind that might help you.
Update the firmware on the printer with a USB cable plugged into the printer, and computer.
Click here to download the firmware update: HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a Firmware
Try a power reset and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
I hope the steps help you! If the screen continues to have the same problem, give us a call to see what your printer options are:

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus Where is the print preview???

I just purchased HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus all in one printer.  Where is the print preview option.  It's no longer on "preference" or anywhere else.

Since HP isn't answering me on the 'Print Preview' being available soon or which HP printers software actally HAVE the 'print preview' function enabled... I did some searching and I found a partial answer to the 'print preview' delema.  The web site http://www.obviousidea.com/windows-software/greencloud-printer/
has a free program called GreenCloudPrinter which, in a nut shell, will install a printer called GreenCloud which set itself up as the default printer and any file that is sent to the printer gets directed to the GreenCloud device which will then bring up a 'print preview' screen with options to remove blank pages and or print or not print the preview!  And a lot of other functions too.  Works great and it's free.  You do have to register it and a registration code is emailed to you to unlock the program. I hope that helps you out... worked for me.

  • Hp officejet pro 8500 a910 software will not open

I have had my printer installed for over 2 years on my laptop via the network (Dell with OS Win 8.1).  Recently, as in I have no idea why or what happened, I have an issue where I cannot open the software on my computer to scan a document.
The icon on the desktop as well as under Programs > HP is "C:\Program Files\HP\HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910\Bin\HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910.exe" -Start UDCDevicePage
    with a Start In of "C:\Program Files\HP\HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910\Bin\"
I suspected that the link was broken and opened the link in Windows Explorer and it would not open from there either.  Also, the icon in Windows Explorer is nonspecific and does not look like an HP icon.
I tried uninstalling all HP software and reinstalling it, but am having the same issue.  I cannot open the software.
Anyone have any ideas?  Thank you!

    Hi @SandraDee1961,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Officejet pro 8500 a910 software will not open on Windows 8.1. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help you with this issue!

Disable any antivirus programs. How to Disable Antivirus in Windows 8?
Disable any firewall programs. Windows Firewall from start to finish.

The backlighting on my lcd screen has all but gone out. Product HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one printer - N911a

Hi greenbeaner, I see that you're having problems with your printer's display.  I would take a look at the document below.  Officejet Pro 8600  Let me know how it goes.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 - Macbook Pro and Macbook Air will not print

    Products:
    HP Officejet Pro 8600
Macbook Pro (Mac OS X, Version 10.7.5)
Macbook Air (OS X, Version 10.8.2)
    Question:
Why did my Macs initially print fine, but now will not print at all?
    Full Story:
I have a wireless network at my house that consisted of a 30mb cable internet, Netgear 900n, HP Officejet Pro 8600, 2 Dell Laptops with Windows 7, a Lenovo Laptop with Windows 7, and Dell Tower with Windows 7 - All printed just fine.
The HP Officejet 8600 was added to my network about 2 months ago.
I added a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air about 3 weeks ago.  Both Macs printed just fine for about a week.  Then suddenly they stopped.  I spent about 2 hours on the phone with HP Service, and they finally said it must be my router.  So I called Netgear.  Netgear was useless!  They wanted me to agree to charges for services before they would even discuss the issue.
Due to information provided by HP's service support, and because Netgear will not support their product, I promptly purchased a new router - an Apple Airport Extreme.
The Macs recognize the printer, will print if hardwired via a USB cable, but will not print wirelessly to the Officejet Pro 8600.  The PCs print fine.
The frustration that is being felt is compound by the fact that the Macs printed just fine with the Officejet Pro 8600 2 weeks ago, and now the printer just shows "idle"... even with a new router. (see image below)
Please help, I appreciate any support.
As a side note, the HP Service rep was very friendly, and definitely tried to support the HP Product, which is much more than I can say about Netgear.
    Thank you,
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
More likely the issue related with Multicast, which Apple devices relies on to communicate with teh device through the network.
First try unplugging the router for 30 seconds.
Plug it back to the power and wait for 2-3 minutes.
Turn the HP printer Off and back On, then check for any difference.
If the same persists, try changing your router configuration as following
Note: the settings below are not related with the HP product, I provide you the steps as a best effor and those are only based on my own knowledge. you may try modifying the router settings at your own risk:
Open the router configuration page (can be found listed as the Default Gateway by clicking the Wireless icon on the printer, then print a network configuration report.
    Click the Advanced tab.
Click the Setup option from the menu, then click on WAN Setup.
Make sure to uncheck the box next to Disable IGMP Proxying and Apply the changes.
Click the LAN Setup on the same Setup menu.
Set the RIP Version as RIP-2 and Apply the changes.
Reboot your router and then check for any change.
I hope you may find that information useful, you may also use the user guide below for further information:
