Officejet Pro K8600 Manual Feed - User Guide Instructions

After much difficulty trying to use the K8600 rear manual feed slot, I stumbled into the instructions for loading paper in the user guide. I think the "Print with the rear manual feed slot" instructions should be modified to make it clear that paper loading is much more complex than one might expect.  This is the first time I encountered a printer where just placing the paper in the feed slot and then telling the software to print does not work.  The "Load media" reference must be read to be successful.  The correct procedure is:
1.  Set the printer preferences to "manual feed"
2.  Wait for the resume light to blink.
3.  Place the paper in the rear slot.
4.  Press the resume button (far right button).
5.  Wait for the printer to detect the paper.
6.  Press the resume button again to print.
The manual feed documentation and hardware fails the "user friendly" test.  The printer preferences dialog could (should?) display some instructions when the manual feed paper source is selected.
Comments or criticism is welcome.

Thanks for this. I found the same.  I also found that you have to give the paper/card a slight push to get the printer to recognise and feed it at step 3.  Maybe the rear feed is faulty or needs a clean.
It took ages to get it to work and I must say that whilst this printer is great when it works, getting it to work reliably is another matter.  I have it attached as a network device and it often just stops working.  I believe HP release updates for this from time to time so it must be a recognised problem.
I have also just replaced a print head (black/yellow) and the new replacement was faulty, so I don't seem to have much luck.  I had a CP1700 before this one and that was also unreliable.  I had had hoped that the 8600 would be reliable, but this puts me off buying another HP unit for the office.
Perhaps someone from HP will kindly reply and advise if there are any suitable maitneance steps or checks that I can make.  That would help to restore confidence.

  • HP Officejet Pro K8600: change static IP address using printer control buttons

Our network was changed this morning and I am working with a different addressing scheme.  I need to change the static address for our HP Officejet Pro K8600 which has no control panel on the printer.  I had to do this once before and found instructions which (believe it or not) included something like pressing the paper feed button 23 times.  It worked but now I can't find the instructions!!!! It's not something I can recreate because it was very specific.  Does anyone have these instructions? I need them desperately.
    Thanks.

Still not what I needed but I did finally find what I was looking for.  Clearly not found in any manual.  Here it is for anyone else that is looking for the same info.
    ‎From a post on 11-25-2008 03:46 PM from KFMiles:
I really hope this helps you. Believe it or not there really is a reset for this printer.
I had put in a manual IP address and forgot one piece of data. Then I couldn't print to it or access it. Basically I was out of luck. I scoured the internet, I read the manual, I used the HP online help. No luck. Finally I broke down and called HP directly. Took us about 10 minutes of dialog and redoing everything I did before (patience here on my part). The tech disappeared for awhile and came back with a new step from the printer guru god for K8600. Seems if you enter the code number 230, the printer defaults are reset to the factory values.
Ahhh, you say what? There are only 3 buttons to press and no keypad. The X and the page button mean something besides print configuration (hold X) or print page demo (hold Page). Seems if you press and HOLD the power button, the X changes to a unit code factor of 10, and the page button changes to a code factor of one. DO NOT do this code with the network cable plugged in I am told by HP .. so read on...To enter 230, press and hold the power button (light goes off but unit stays on), then press the X button 23 times, Let them both loose. Wait about 20 seconds, and print yourself out a configuration page (by holding X until printer starts working to print). You should see that your net numbers are blank. This will be normal with the network cable unplugged. Plug the network cable back in and wait about 30 seconds, by this time the router will have assigned a new IP. Print out your configuration again. Whatever you got is your new number until you reassign it by using the webserver. This new IP address is your ticket to this server.
This makes you wonder what other codes are there that we don't know about.

  • Officejet Pro K8600 installing on 64 bit and 32 bit drivers on a 64 bit server

I'm trying to install an Officejet Pro K8600 on a 64bit, 2008 server. I can install the 64bit driver ok but when I try to add the 32bit driver and point it to the driver location it ask me for the 'ntprint' file, which isn't there.
As I have a load of 32bit client computers using 3 of these printers, I don't want to manually install the 32bit driver on each client.

Hi Stephen00101010 , sorry to hear that you are unable to get the printer installed. I do apologize for the inconvenience, however the operating system that you are using is not supported with the use of this printer.
    Thank you.

  • HP Officejet Pro K8600 - Black Ink issue

    Hi everyone,
I have HP Officejet Pro K8600, the printer was fine but after I printed on 4x6 HP Premium Glossy Photo Paper now when I print normal text document the Black Color is not too black it is sort of faded black (very dark grey). I chose different presets e.g. Default Settings, Plain Paper Best, Plain Paper Fast Draft, Plain Paper Fast Draft Black and White and set paper type as Plain Paper but the results are all same. But again when I print a full color photo on 4x6 HP Premium Glossy Photo Paper with preset Photo Paper and HP Premium Photo Paper the printout comes fine and the black color is deep and normal.
I will be waiting for your prompt solutions.
    Regards,
    Mak

    I will add the following:
I changed the Black cartridge but still with the same issue. I am trying to change the printhead with following the steps given in this page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01289505 but the carriage does not move to the left.

  • OfficeJet Pro K8600 looses communication -will not print

Vista SP2 Dell Pavilion Intel Quad 2.33ghz 64bit OS 8gb RAM OfficeJet Pro K8600 on USB cable to main ports
I loose the connection and have to reboot the computer to get it to print again.
It prints fine for several hours or a day or so, then suddenly will freeze part way through printing, or simply will not print at all. In Printer preferences I click on services - Ink levels tab - "computer unable to establish 2 way communication"
Removing the USB and reattaching does not help, nor does changing the USB port used.
Disconnected unit, rebooted, deleted printer icon, uninstalled printer drivers, rebooted, did full install using the HP CD and I still have the same problem after printing for awhile.
HP Diagnostic utility does not detect any problems when printer is not working or when it is working.

Did you install the two HP updates slp_dd_hati_110_107.exe and ConvergedIO_HPCOM_V3.exe?

  • Using windows 7, how do I get my Officejet Pro K8600 to print to 13x19 paper?

I purchased a laptop with Windows 7. Now I cannot get my Officejet Pro K8600 to print correctly to 13x19 paper. It prints onto 13x19 paper but everything is 8.5 x 11 in size. I click print, click properties, change the paper to Super B 13x19, hit ok, the box shows the 13x19 paper with the images filling the paper, I click ok for it to print and it prints the image 8.5 x 11 in size on the 13x19 paper instead of filling the 13x19 paper. I did not have this trouble (and still don't) with my old laptop with XP. Is it the operating system or is it a wrong setting in properties? I have tried to compare the properties settings in both computers, but I cannot find any differences. I don't think it's the driver....please help!

    Hello HW,
Try this: go to Devices and Printers and right-click on the Officejet Pro K8600 and click on Printer Properties. Go to the tab called Advanced and click on the button called Print Processor. Select Winprint and click OK. Try another printout and see if it works now. If you still see the same issue see if there's a scaling option on the print dialogue in the application you're printing from.

  • Scanjet 6300c manual or user guide

I was just given a Scanjet 6300c, and was able to download the software from HP support, but the links for setup and configure only provide a list of what is not supported, instead of the documents that should be there.
Anyone have a copy of the manual or user guide ? Anything that explains how to scan slides with the triangle would also be great.
    TIA

    Hello @netnoodle,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you would like a user guide for the Scanjet 6300C. I will do my best to assist you! Unfortunately, there are no users guides for this particular Scanjet on the HP website here.
Now, I will provide the Scanjet 5590 user guide. This does explain how to scan slides, but the steps could be different. Give this a try to see if this works.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 & Officejet Pro K8600 Printer - WHICH DRIVER ?!

What driver do I use for Windows Server 2008 R2 and HP Officejet Pro K8600 Printer?
I'm trying to find the correct driver for Server 2008 R2 for an HP Officejet Pro K8600 Printer. This is a large format (tabloid or 11 x 17) inkjet printer. Either I haven't found the correct driver, or I haven't properly discovered the correct combination of settings to use to fix the problem I'm having. The problem is that every time I try to print a document that is 11 x 17, it ends up being printed as if the paper size is 8.5 x 11.
I've seen many people have similar problems where everything worked fine when they were using XP, but when they "upgraded" to Windows 7, they can't print 11 x 17 any more.

  • Officejet 8610 print manual feed?

I often have to print the back of a single sheet and it's a pain pulling out the tray to load one piece of paper. This was a cinch on a printer that had a vertical tray on the back. Is there no manual feed on the 8610???

    Hello @Slycat!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums today!
From what I gather by your question, you are printing on the back side of a single document, but does the document already have print on the other side?
If so then yes you will have to pull out the try and put that document print side up.  The printer only has an input try for printing on the front of the machine and does not have a top feeder designed for printing.  You will have to pull out the try to put in a single page manually.
If your document has no print on the other side then you can use the two sided printing option within the HP software. Please follow the document for Printing on Both Sides of the Paper (Duplexing) for HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer Serie....
I hope i was able to provide some help regarding your concern. please post back and let me know how it goes!

  • Officejet Pro 8620 Sheet feeder doesn't work when scanning

The sheet feeder on my 8620 has stopped working when I try to scan. It detects that an original has been loaded, but doesn't feed the original. The sheet feeder works properly when I load originals to copy. I have followed the sheet feeder cleaning instructions, but this hasn't cured the problem.

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.   I see that you're unable to scan via the ADF using your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you with this. Are you scanning from the printer's front panel or via the printer software on your PC?   In the meantime, it wouldn't hurt to give the standard troubleshooting steps another go. Thanks for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!

  • Officejet Pro 8000 Paper feed problem

I have an Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless printer and I am using Windows 7. The printer is out of warrantee. The Printer is failing to pick up the paper from the paper tray. Also if I print Duplex the left side of the paper catches. I have tried to clean the rollers. reset the printer. reset the paper. the flashing lights continue. any suggestions other than getting a new printer?
    Rick Wiggers

Further examination shows that the problem seems to be that sometimes the pick rollers don't turn. Apparently the drive mechanism to the rollers fails. It has nothing to do with the rollers themselves slipping  because they are dirty and need cleaning -- they don't turn!
So,,,,can any HP person give a solution to this?
From what I can tell, the problem has existed for years, and a lot of people complain about it, Has HP done anything to correct it?
Lacking a solution, can any HP person tell me where I can get a service manual so I can do intelligent tinkering on my own?  It's way out of warranty and it would cost more to take it to a service center than it's worth, assuming any service center would even  bother with it. So I don't think it's unreasonable for HP to provide a service manual.

  • Officejet Pro 8000 paper feed (top or bottom)?

I've gotten conflicting answers from HP sales chat.
Does the HP Officejet Pro 8000 feed the paper from the bottom of the stack of paper or does it feed from the top?

From the top. Tested by printing a page, putting it back (printed side up) on the top of the stack, then printing the same page again. It duly appeared on the other side of the same sheet.

  • Officejet pro 8500 a909g, limited user accounts can't use printing preferences

The above discription explains most of it. I had install this 8500 printer, then shortly after, uninstalled the other two older  printers I was previously using. That is when the problem started. I can not access printing preferences from a document or from control panel\printer and faxes. But I am able to access from the administrater account. I did an online chat with HP help and what we did made sence, but did not work. We went into the security tab in properties and added the limited user account for all permissions and reboted the computer. Did not work!!!!    I have a dell laptop, windows xp pro, and the printer software is now uninstalled.    the window that pops up when I click on properties is: Function address 0x50085a97 caused a protection fault. (exception code 0x0000005) Some or all property pages may no be displayed. I don not have this problem as an administrater only as a limited user.

I had this similar problem.  Installed this printer a few months back and for some time it was printing fine.  Recently, I changed the default preferences to black/white, draft, low ink etc etc.  Now if I click on the Properties I get this same window:
*** (x50085a97 caused protection fault (exception code 9xc0000005 some or all property pages could not be displayed) ***.
Running XP on an Dell Intel Pentium and it happens irrespective of the application I am using - usually firefox or staroffice.  9 times out of 10 I can't change the properties, but occasionally it allows me too then reverts back.  So now I am stuck with everything printing black/white as that's the default I set!  Any suggestions welcome.

  • HP Officejet Pro L7780 - Document feeder not grabbing pages. The feeder is not feeding pages through

I have an Officejet L7780 that is not feeding through the document feeder. It gets stuck with the first page, and tries to roll in the page but it gets stuck with it.  I've not been able to make it feed through, but I can grab a portion of the page that is stuck and pull out ok.  Looks like the rollers are not working well anymore.  Is this something that can be corrected/fixed/replaced?

    Hello,
Make sure you are using supported media (weight/type).  If you use your ADF frequently, you may have some buildup on the pickup rollers.  I've included a link below that describes how to clean those and how to check to ensure that there are no paper pieces stuck under the ADF hood that would prevent them from pulling correctly.  Good Luck!
