Officejet Pro X576dw slow scanner

I have recently installed 2 Officejet Pro X576dw machines.  I like all of the features.  The only problem I have is
the SCAN TO NETWORK feature.  I set this up with a few folders on the server to scan to.  The scans work fine. The only problem I have is how long it takes to start the scan process from the time you hit the scan button.  Its almost 2 min.
We are going to be scanning ALOT of medical test results.  How can I speed up the time the printer takes to start to scan.
thank you
JOHN

  • Scanner for officejet pro x576dw printing off center

Scanned documents on our officejet pro x576dw MFP are coming out skewed--i.e. the contents are coming out looking like they were rotated 5-10 degrees. They're not deformed--just not showing up straight on the page.
The obvious thought was that the document is being fed in crookedly, but when I make copies, the content comes out straight in the copy, as they should. That suggests that it's not the document feeder that's the problem, but some issue with the scanner software. Here's what it looks like:
Any ideas how I can fix this?
    Thanks!

  • HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP scan to network folder

HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP Scan to Network Folder function is producing error messages in the Network Folder Setup.   The error message reads:   """A problem occurred during the test. Click "Edit" to check your settings, and then try again. For more information, visit hp.com-support        Ideally, I'd like scans to plop right on my Desktop.   I'd settle for any folder, however.
Here's my current pathway, which seems to be unacceptable:  \\MYMAC\Public\Scans.
    I've also tried:  \\MYMAC\MYNAME\Public\Scans
    I've also tried:  \\MYMAC\MYNAME\Public
    I've also tried:  \\MYMAC\MYNAME\Scans
    I've also tried:  \\MYMAC\DESKTOP\Scans
    I've also tried:  \\MYMAC\MYNAME\DESKTOP
I've also tried prayer, beer, and breaking things.    Now I thought I'd try this forum.

If this is a windows computer, save the folder on the C: drive and use the CMD prompt and type  ipconfig  then take note of the IP address of the PC and make the scanner path very simple.  For example, if my computer's IP address was 192.168.0.13 and I saved my folder to the C drive titled Scans, the file path would look like this:
    \\192.168.0.13\Scans  or even just 192.168.0.13\Scans
Then update the scanner defaults to go to that folder and do a test scan, making note of the exact error message if one appears.
It sounds like you could be having an authentication error.  Let me know if you would like assistance as the date on this is kinda far back.

  • Officejet Pro X576dw MFP and Yosemite won't scan

Our new Officejet Pro X576dw MFP no longer scans. It was working fine and I'm not 100% sure that it stopped scanning when I upgraded to Yosemite, or if that's just a coincidence. The computer monitor is an iMac.
    The error message is
The scan could not be completed due to one or more of the following issues:
-Connection to the computer is lost
-The scan application on the computer is currently in use
-OCR application is not installed on the computer
See the computer monitor for details.
When I try the work around of scanning through the Preview app, the document doesn't feed into the scanner. The wheels turn but the document doesn't feed. A document is imported to the computer monitor but it's blank.
I really need the scanner to work.  Any ideas?

I've found a work around.  Open System Prefs/Printers & Scanners. Click on HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP in the left hand pane, then Scan at the top of the box on the right.  Load your document into the scanner and click Open Scanner. Now, make sure the "Use Document Feeder" box in new Scanner window is checked and click Scan in the bottom right of the window. If thta box isn't checked nothing will happen.
You'll find the scan titled "Scan" in the Pictures folder.

  • Paper jam issue on HP OfficeJet Pro X576DW

My recently bought HP OfficeJet Pro X576DW displays and initiates a Paper Jam warning and holds printing subsequently. However, there is no "paper jammed".
Seems like one of the sensors is confused.
Is there a way to hard reset the printer, cause it is not working right now.

    Hope I can help you.
First, please see if you can make sure you have the latest version of firmware on your printer. If you hit the "?" mark and then touch Printer Information, you'll see the FW Version as the last thing on the screen.
The most current ends in 1336MR. If you have a number <1336, please update the FW.
The easiest way to check for FW is to have the printer connected to web services. The small icon on the upper left is for Web Services and under that menu is to check for update.
    Then...
    Settings/Tools/Advanced Cleaning.
Normally, this requires sending out of a cleaning pad by HP, however, try feeding a piece of card stock through tray 1. This may fix your paperjam.

  • HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP (CN598A) Total memory question

    Hello,
We bought a HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP (CN598A), and we noticed something weird on the printer's web settings page.
The specification on the hp website states that this printer comes with:
    - Memory, standard 768 MB (Not expandable)
    - Memory, maximum 768 MB
But on the printer's web settings page, it shows the following:
    - Total Memory (KB) 415685
    - Available Memory (KB) 415199
That's only like 405 MB of the memory installed.
Does it mean that the OS of printer is taking about 363MB of memory or did we get a printer with a wrong memoery card installed?
Can anyone with the same printer check the total memory information?
    Thanks.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro X576dw Scan to Computer function not working.

    Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me. I recently setup a new HP OfficeJet Pro X576dw on network and most printer features work fine with the exception of the "Scan to Computer" feature that is not working for one specific Mac running OS X 10.9.4.
The "Scan to Computer" (as the name suggests) allows you to scan a document at the printer and send the scanned document to a specific computer on your network. This feature requires that the client computer is Enabled for "Scan to Computer" which is done via HP Utility application (Mac HD > Library > Printers > hp > Utilities) and works on a client Mac we have running Mac OS X 10.8.5 but not Mac OS X 10.9.4, you cannot tick the Enable tickbox on the latter Mac OS X 10.9.4.
Orginally I never installed an software that can with the printer on CD or Download and simply used the built-in Mac OS X drivers for this printer which have worked fine. I have since downloaded and installed the latest driver software but the enabling of "Scan to Computer" is still not a tickable option on the client computer running Mac OS X 10.9.4. Any ideas?

  • Paper handling HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP

My HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP printer started making a very loud (annoying) banking sound everytime the paper guage moved. Additionally, it won't pick up paper from Tray 2 (main tray). This happened all of a sudden when I was printing and I have no idea what triggered it. I appreciate any information and advice to solve this problem without having to have my printer out of commission for a long period of time. Thank you.

    Hi @AdLive
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as your HP Printer is a commercial model.

  • HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP

    Hi,
I am very interested in purchasing an HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP. However, the reviews I've seen complain about wireless issues and print quality that is only fair in both black and colour. Have there been any software (or hardware) upgrades to fix the wireless and print quality issues? Thanks.

    Hi IzzieJ,
Understand that you would like to know more about HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP print quality before purchasing it.
Thank you for sharing the Printer Review Web Link with us too.
One of the factors that can affect print quality is paper. We would like to recommend you to use “Papers with ColorLok® Technology” to get the best result out of the HP printer. You may refer to the below link for more about ColorLok papers.
    http://h20423.www2.hp.com/program/paper/sg/en/paper_colorlok.asp
Regarding Print Quality, sometimes, it can be very subjective and the reviews also point out the same message by stating as “you’d have to be very picky to care about the difference” or“Depending on how critical an eye you have”.
You may notice from Web Review that printing with HP Paper produced great results than other papers.
For your convenience, I have extracted the review from the link you have provided.
    Review from PC World
"Paper does matter for color graphics. Images we printed look dull on mid-quality stock (such as the recycled-content paper we use in our office copier). They improved on the Hammermill LaserPrint that we use for testing, and HP’s own photo paper produced vivid results.
Yes, its text falls a dot or two short of laser-black and laser-sharp, but you’d have to be very picky to care about the difference. The pigmented inks create nicely drawn letterforms and handle difficult fonts with skill. And as an HP spokesperson gladly demonstrated for me at Macworld, the inks are so waterfast, he was willing to rub a wet page on his hair."
    Review from PC Mag
"Also important is that, at least on the ColorLok plain paper we use for testing, the output resists smearing if you get it wet. Depending on how critical an eye you have, you may well consider text, graphics, and photos suitable for marketing materials like trifold brochures or one-page handouts."
Kindly let us know if you have any further questions that we can assist.
    Cheers,
    Bryan

  • OfficeJet Pro L7700 Slow to print

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro L7700 Series printer that is extremely slow at printing, and causing the print spooler service to pause or freeze for several minutes.
    - All the clients are running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
    - I have tested printing via an ethernet cable as well as wirelessly
    - I Have installed the latest driver from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=ca&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=2512...
Here's exactly what I am experiencing:
When I click print test page the properties window of the printer freezes for 30 seconds to one minute. If I move the window around it says its not responding. Approximately 1 to 15 minutes later I receive a message that the print job has been successfully sent to the printer, and then the printer prints the page.
I have attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the software and driver as well.
    Any thoughts/suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated.

    Hi @VexedHPUser
    Perhaps the Microsoft Fix it utility will help;
    What it fixes
You are unable to install a printer, connect to a printer, or print more than one job at a time
You receive an error indicating your Print Spooler service is experiencing problems
You receive an error indicating your is not the default printer
You receive an error indicating: cannot be contacted over the network
Identify if your printer is turned off
Identify if your printer toner is low or empty causing your print job to appear faint or it does not print at all
Identify if your printer paper is low or empty
Identify if the printer has a paper jam which is preventing it from operating normally
Identify if a print job that is in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing
Identify if you need to update your print driver
You receive an error stating that your Plug and Play printer %PRINTERNAME% has encountered a driver problem
If the issue persists, I think it might be a good idea to reach out to the Microsoft Community.

  • Officejet Pro 8000 slow to select for color prints

I just installed Officejet Pro 8000 and immediately noticed how slowly the printer is selected in printer options box when I am doing color printing. It takes about 30 sec-1 minute to finalize the selection of this as my printer for the job. I have a networked color laser jet and a networked b&w laser jet also installed that are immediately selected when I choose them from the list.
I have been testing this in Word 2007 and have noticed that when I select the officejet, the bar at the bottom of the word screen says "connecting to printer" - this seems to be the source of the slowness. I have the latest driver installed and I do not have this problem when printing regular b&w docs on this printer.
Is there a problem here or is this normal <SLOW> color print operation?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the advice to contact HP tech support!
I have tried in multiple ways since November 2009 to contact HP, when I got the first (of 4) printers. The first 3 printers was subsequently replaced.
Finally in late June 2010 I got the message that there was coming an firmware update for Windows, but not for Mac's. The firmware should improve among other things the paper pick up (load paper issue) and the print-heads life.
I have applied the Windows firmware on the printer from a pc, but still seems to have load-paper issues, even using HP Bright White paper, when printing from Mac's. I have not tested the printing from a pc, but assumes that a firmware upgrade the printer, and are not specific to a certain OS.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 : Use scanner without print heads/cartridges

    Hello.
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 (CB023A) that I bought specifically because of the automatic duplex scanner. Buying a scanner with automatic duplex instead of this multifunction printer was out of the question because the cheapest one costed over ten times more than this multifunction printer (and they still do).
I can no longer afford to keep buying print heads and cartridges just to use the scanner, as this multifunction uses ink for scanning!!! But that is beside the point.
I have read in other posts about taping sensors but I was thinking about going a little further and completely remove the printing part of the multifunction. Anyone knows if I can just disconnect the printing part from the circuit board? Or will I have to fiddle with software? Maybe some hidden option in the "Mfg Commands" (accessible by pressing * and # with the printer on) or some other hidden feature?
Considering that this multifunction takes way too long to boot because of all the print head checking/cleaning/etc, with a little luck, without the printing part the boot time will decrease to almost nothing .
Before I start disassembling I would appreciate some advice, specially if someone else has already tried it.
    Thank you in advance.

Hello kamath27. Thank you for your reply.
I apologize for not replying sooner but I wanted to try and disassemble the multifunction before replying instead of just replying with an acknowledge.
Also, sorry for such a long post but I wanted to be as detailed as possible.
However, before describing what I did and found, I want to clarify something.
With the multifunction in the same condition it came from the factory, if I remove one print cartridge, or one is empty, the multifunction stops on boot with a message requesting to change the cartridge before continuing and there is no way to bypass it. When this message shows, pressing any button on the multifunction or the screen yields no result (there is no OK button displayed on the multifunction screen). It was always like this and firmware updates never solved it.
And going to the printer control panel on the connected computer says that the printer is offline even if it is connected through USB and is displayed in device manager as a connected USB device. This is the reason why I had spent so much money buying ink that I do not use. I never print anything on this multifunction. All prints that the multifunction ever performed were a dozen or so of maintenance align and test pages.
Now for what I did. I disassembled the multifunction just enough to take out the main circuit board, the wireless board, the buzzer and the door sensors. I set up the printer half and the scanner half side-by-side with the main circuit board in the middle, reconnected everything and turned it on in order to test if anything stopped working during disassembly. Everything was OK and the multifunction worked as normal (printed a test page and scanned it to the computer).
Next, while facing the main board the same way it would be faced while mounted in the multifunction, I started disconnecting the connectors (except the ones that belong to the scanner half) one by one from left to right in the following fashion: With the multifunction OFF, I disconnected one connector, turned the multifunction on, waited for any message or the main screen, tried to print a test page and then scan it, and finally disconnected the multifunction, reconnected the connector and moved on to the next one.
    The results were:
    - disconnected the tray feeding sensor -> Allows to boot with a paper jam message that can be bypassed with an OK on the screen. Can not print because of the alleged paper jam but can scan.
    - disconnected the pump -> Allows to boot but a message keeps popping about pump motor stalled. Can be bypassed with an OK but pops right back and all jobs get aborted. Can not print or scan.
    - disconnected the printer motor -> Oddly, no messages. Allows to boot and scan but not print. This was strange because when trying to print there is no message in the printer and the software on the PC only said the printer was busy. I would think the printer would eventually display a message saying the print carriage was jammed or something but nothing happened after 10 minutes. I might test again later as one test may be interfering with the next.
    - disconnected the print cartridge door sensor -> Stops on boot with a message to close the door. Does not allow to print or scan.
    - disconnected the print cartridges connector -> Stops on boot with message to replace cartridges. Does not allow to print or scan.
    - disconnected the print heads connector -> On boot briefly displays a screen with the image of the power button and the code "C00E0060" below. Then the screen turns white and all buttons on the multifunction start blinking. It is as described here but resetting the multifunction, reconnecting the connector and turning it on took it back to operational condition.
    - disconnected everything except for the scanner connectors and the tray and door sensors - Gives the exact same behaviour as the previous test (code "C00E0060").
So, from the tests it seems that I can not use the scanner if anything from the printer half is disconnected. Any ideas on how to circumvent this, if possible?
    Thank you.
