Official Backlit Keyboard with (English-Arabic) language?

I've purchased Mac pro 15', How can i get the official Backlit Keyboard with (English-Arabic) language?

To have an Arabic keyboard on a Macbook, you need to buy it from a store which caters to people who need that. I do not know of any in the US. It would be best to look for one in an Arabic-speaking country. You could also try searching Google for a source for a replacement keyboard of the type you want, but I don't know if they exist. After you go to system preferences/keyboard/input sources as suggested by sberman, click on the + button and scroll down to Portuguese and select that. Over at the right you will see the choices Brazilian, Brazilian abnt, Portuguese. You might want to add all three to see which you like best.
The "Brazilian" layout is pretty useless. It is identical to the US layout and the only way to make accents is via the option key shortcuts: option + n, then o gives you õ.
The Brazilian abnt and Portuguese layouts have dead keys for adding accents over at the right edge of the keyboard. But these may not match what is printed on your keys.
You may prefer to stay with the US layout. On that you can get accented letters by just holding down the base letter and selecting what you want from the popup menu that appears. Or you can use the option key shortcuts.
Another option is the layout called US International PC, which has accent deadkeys on ~, ', etc.
Which ever layout you want to use, you must select it in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen.

Hardware Request: Corded backlit keyboard with black keys

When I bought my MBP I thought it's backlit keyboard was just some silly feature.
Well ... now I can't live without it. Thanks Apple.
The problem now is that I use my MBP for work plugged into a big monitor , mouse and keyboard. I have a very good keyboard from logitech (MX3000), and now I hate this lightless *******.
What I'm asking is something you could name Keyboard Pro, with numerical keypad, additional USB ports (like the current one), black keys (white ones get dirty very easy) and that magical light beneath it. Put some macro recording keys and I'll go crazy.
Hurry up, or I might burn $130 in that Razer Black Widow Ultimate.

Smartform Output with English & Japanese languages

Hi All,
I have to develope a smartform with english and Japanese languages in the output. Login language will be EN. The sap system is a Unicode system. The problem is with the Japanese characters. I could able to view english characters properly in the print preview but Japanese characters are replaced by #. I tried with unicode enabled (code page 4110) printer driver also. Could anybody worked before on this. Please provide me the settings need to be done inorder to print both langauages using a single smartforms.

For Japanese characters to dispaly use the font JPMINCHO
For printing use the device type as JPSAPWIN.

But of course, this is possible only if an right connector is available.

10.9.x no backlit keyboard with FileVault 2 enabled

I adopted 10.9.x (Mavericks) from 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) several MacBook Pro's 13" and 15" a like, with or without retina displays dating from 2010 to 2014.
In 10.6.x even with FileVault enabled when you first boot the computer the backlit keyboard would illuminate so you could see to enter your password to login. After adopting 10.9.x this behavior changed, now when you boot the computer the backlit keyboard remains dark making it difficult to see the keyboard in a dark room. Only after entering the password then the backlit keyboard will begin to illuminate as the desktop is being introduced.
This will occur no matter if any 10.9.x is freshly installed on a bare drive or when preforming an incremental update (i.e. 10.9.4 to 10.9.5).
To me this doesn't make any usability sense since why not illuminate the keyboard when the computer is booting as it did in the past. I've submitted feedback to Apple engineers, spoken with the Genius Bar staff, even looked for a reasonable explanation on-line in several forums without success.
Perhaps someone here can shed some light on the matter and/or offer a work around or solution to this problem.

SMC reset has proven not to make any difference on a variety of battery non removable MacBooks Pro's, some with Retina display's others without.
I feel this is an oversight in Apple's R&D and Q&A teams and not part of their regression testing. I've reported this matter to them since the introduction of FileVault 2 yet they have chosen to do nothing about it.
Last week in one of the Apple Stores I encouraged one of the staff to enable FileVault 2 on a 15" MacBook Pro floor/display model so we could test this. This model had OS X Yosemite 10.10.0 installed. It yielded the same result, no backlit keyboard after FileVault 2 as enabled. I presume R&D isn't concerned about this since Apple's primary focus seems to be on iOS which doesn't have backlit keyboards.

Backlit keyboard with Ubuntu

I have a new Satellite Pro 770D laptop with an AMD processor and a backlit keyboard. The backlit keyboard works fine with Windows, but I installed Ubuntu Linux on top of Windows with their Wubi installer. It seems to work fine except the backlit keyboard does't work with linux. Can anyone help?

I have a Satellite P855 and the same problem. I have Ubuntu 12.10.
I have also other problems with the function-keys of the keboard.

I had to buy a new computer and since I live in France, I bought a second hand, but almost new one, with a french keyboard. Apple assured it was possible to set english as the main system language and use a french keyboard.
But when I'm in Safari and I want to go forward, I can't do it like I used to, because there is no "hook"-key on the french keyboard!
What to do now, if I want to use a keyboard shortcut instead of the mouse and menu?

Good news! Yes, that is the same as Apple (=command) + [ on the US keyboard. It just takes a lot more keys, shift plus alt plus ( , to make the [ on the French keyboard.

Text Printing mismatch with Arabic Language

Hi gurus,
I have a requirement in printing the dunning form in different language based on the customer. Currently based on the language condition i m calling the text element with right alignment. But i m observing a strange problem with the arabic language that my sentance is getting mismatched. e.g. text "Enclosed please find our statement' it is printing "please find Enclosed our statement".
I am using a standard text includ for displaying the text.

Hi, you do not need to do any thing to handle the RTL text. SAP itself handles the situation. but you need to be carefull while using mixed language like english and Arabic together in same form. there are some upgrade patched required to be applied to solve the problem else your text will be printed in mismatch format.

Keyboard with large bright characters could be cheap substitute for backlit keyboard

A non-backlit keyboard with large, high-contrast characters could be a cheap substitute for a backlit keyboard. Most Chromebooks have tiny characters with less than maximum contrast. It would cost no more to give them legible keyboards that could be used in poor light. The first image shows a Chromebook keyboard (not an Acer) compared with the same with large-letter stickers applied. After I applied the stickers, I could type 40% faster in good light and twice as fast in poor light. (Note: I have average vision.) Next is the Acer C720 Chromebook keyboard. It has better contrast and slightly larger characters than most of the new inexpensive Chromebooks, but it's still difficult to type on in poor light. A keyboard made with the design below would be clear enough to be used in a dark room by the light from the screen.

That's a REALLY good reason, bigbear. I get it, and thanks for explaining. I certainly was not trying to imply that there is some kind of 'issue' with adding a more visible keyboard. It is certainly NOT a violation of anything to plug in an external keyboard. That is probably the best solution that you have available at this time. But if you are suggesting replacing the internal keyboard on your laptop with a 3rd party keyboard, that could become a problem. First, as you described, it is not a task for the faint of heart. You'd have to find a keyboard that FITS in your laptop, and they are certainly not all the same. And as you also describe, the disassembly and reassembly process for a laptop can be quite complex. If you cause damage in the process, that would NOT be covered by your warranty. We call that 'Customer Induced Damage' and it just isn't covered. It's an 'at your own risk' situation. Adding stickers to the key caps is also not a problem for your warranty, unless of course the attempted removal of the stickers causes you to pop some of the keys off and you can't get them re-attached. That again is considered CID.
Having said all that, as I indicated earlier in this thread, the idea for bigger, better marked key labels has been submitted to our design team for consideration. MY vision certainly isn't perfect either, so I do understand where you are coming from. Thanks for raising the issue again.

Problem with Non European Language

I'm working on a presentation in english that has to be translated in arabic language.
The problem is when I'm doing the translation with the arabic language the lay out it all fine. BUT when I'm sending (via the net) the files to two of my collegues, the lay out is then all wonky. That doesn't hapened with the english only with the arabic. I tryed even with a bundle version and it's exactly the same.
I don't know what to do as my lay out is fine but not them.
I fel like h-keynote can't cope with the arabic language..but I need this layout to be the same than mine when I'm sending to the people who are going to do the presentation.
Any idea to help me??

They are not necessarly using the same version. I will ask them to get the last one so we will have all the same.
Perhaps that will help. You should also make sure they have the same Arabic fonts on their machines that you used for your file.

I have lost the Arabic language from my phone afte...

I've updated my phone software by "Nokia Suite" v 3.2.100 then I have lost the Arabic language from my phone "Nokia 5530 XpressMusic".

Arabic language had existed since the phone has been purchased I was update the phone several times by Nokia PC Suite and each time the Arabic language exist after the update.
I think that the last update of the software from Nokia does not come with the Arabic language.

HT201794 Change an English, International - (Z) keyboard to English

In my country I can find only the weird keyboard with English, International - (Z) localization. I have 10 different choices of english if i go to preferences -> keyboard, but none is the English from the picture above (i get ± io ~, right shift doesn't work etc). how do i fix this?

Apple menu / System Preferences / Keyboard / Input sources.
Click + (bottom left) and in the pane that comes up, select Danish on the left, and click Add.
Of course that can only change what the keys actually input, not what is written on the keys. If you wish to change the physical look of the keys as well, get in touch with Apple and ask if they can replace the keyboard.

Apple keyboard with large print?

I use an iMac at work and home. I am visually impaired and find it hard to see the letters on the keyboard. Is there an official Apple keyboard with large print letters? I don't want to buy a 3rd party keyboard that doesn't have all the functions. Would be happiest if Apple could provide me with such a keyboard to replace the standard one??

To get a keyboard with large letters you're going to have to go with a third-party keyboard. What functionality do you think you'd have to give up? There are quite a few third-party keyboards made specifically for the Mac although any USB keyboard will work. And Mac USB keyboards work on a PC as well. I use an Apple Pro keyboard on my work PC & then only thing missing is a "Print Screen" button.
