Official Unlock from ATT Problems

I have iPhone 4 and have received permission from ATT for unlock.
They told me just to restore my phone from iTunes and I would get a message stating phone is unlocked.
I have restored 2 or 3 times and have received no such message.
Anybody had any experience with this yet?
Is there anyway to confirm whether phone is unlocked short of trying to put a new SIM card in?

I did read. You acknowledged it was not necessary for the AT&T lock. If you had bothered to read what I wrote, I was stating that the same applies to a European unlock despite your claim to the contrary.
having unlocked twice in UK it WAS neccessary but of course you know better
I have also unlocked twice in the UK. The first time was 2 days after O2 first started unlocking in October 2009. Neither time was it necessary to insert a SIM from a different network.
I don't necessarily know better, but I know it wasn't necessary for me or anyone else I know who has unlocked in Europe, nor does Apple say it is necessary either despite your "That is the way it works in Europe. See here" claim.

Only the original cellular provider can authorize unlocking. You will need to contact them to determine if they offer unlocking and if the phone qualifies.

Can't send e-mails using Versamail 4.0.1 form my Palm Centro (unlocked - from ATT - on Rogers network).

Good afternoon. I am using a Palm Centro I just bought (unlocked - from ATT - on Rogers network). All is working great BUT sending e-mails. Versamail is receiving just fine but refuses to send. It puts everything I try to send into the "outbox" and then tries to send only to later tell me that it unable to send. The server I go through is a POP server. It has never given me such an issue before - Any advice!!

Hello!
With POP/IMAP email, there are 2 server. One is incomming to whihc ur ok and the other is outgoing to which that one is not. Since you are using Rogers for service, use the SMTP server from them to which I do belive is still smtp.rogerswirelessdata.com for the outgoing mail server.
Even though the phone has been unlocked, the phone design is still ATT so the versamail application is probably still using ATT's SMTP by default and you need to make the manual change.

My iphone4 officially unlocked from AT

I got an iphone4 from US. It was officially unlocked from AT&T and is in use in India in a network here. While an update to iOS 5.1.1 was attempted, towards end of download in iTunes (10.6.3.25) an error message 'error -1450' appears and it fails to update; I am using Windows XP home in a Pentium 4 PC with 1 GB RAM, 2.93 GHz Processor, Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials for Internet Security and net connection with speed upto 2 Mbps. can anyone help. (please see the attached image also)

the representative of apple's reseller in nearby city of kochi told me that a minimum broadband bandwidth of
3 Mbps is required for the download to work smoothly. accordingly i changed my broadband bandwidth to above 3 Mbps. i tried with that bandwidth and the download and installation could be carried out smoothly. thanks for all help.

Samsung Note 4 factory unlocked from ATT

My friend is selling his ATT Samsung Galaxy Note 4 which he originally had factory unlocked from ATT when he first purchased it (there is no ATT logo on the back as well). Would my Verizon sim card work in this phone or is it not compatible since it was originally with a different provider?

While some of the radio technology may work with Verizon, it is not guaranteed. You will not have full functionality of all radio bands and some other features. You will basically have a handicapped phone and might find that rather unpleasing.
unlocked GSM phones used on other GSM networks isn't quite as big of a deal but in the case of any Verizon service I strongly suggest a Verizon phone to get the service and quality you will no doubt expect. You won't get that same service out of a GSM (ATT/T-Mobile) phone on a CDMA (Verizon) network.

Itunes displays a message saying "there is no SIM installed in the phone you're trying to activate" even if there is the same SIM that was working minutes before.
The SIM works on a different phone I tested it.

“Could Not Activate EDGE” error message Update ...
Well it’s going on day 6 and still sporadic to no EDGE on my iPhone. At one time, it was thought to be a defective iPhone – since my partner’s iPhone works just fine.
After over three hours on the land line with AT&T and Apple, I was sent to the local Apple store for a replacement. Of course, as soon as I walked into the Apple store my iPhone worked just fine. ;-( The local store replaced my iPhone and suggested I go home and activate the phone as a NEW iPhone, that way if there was a bug in my data it would not carry over to the new phone. Did that and well… still sporadic to no EDGE. By the way, I have the Big White “E” to the right of the 5 bars and AT&T .
AT&T said last week they has “Software” issues in my area, but the CSR I talked to did not know what the issues were or if they were the cause of my problems. He did say they would call me back today to see how my iPhone was doing, but alas, no call back.
When I’m next to my partner, trying to access the same feature, his iPhone is just so fast. Mine hangs up, draws out and finally I get the error message, “Could Not Activate EDGE”. I am updated to version “1.1.4(4A102)”. New (refurbished) iPhone direct from Apple.
I remember reading a while back about some problems others had when they upgraded to from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4. I never had those problems, but it sure looks like they may have started. Does anyone remember what the problems with 1.1.4 were, what was done if anything to correct them, and best of all any suggestions?
By the way, this is Seattle, not some small – out of the way place where connection and signal strength is expected to be second rate. Also, I had full function of my iPhone from the day I bought it in June 2007, all the way up to Thursday March 20, at 2120.

After the official unlock my Iphone 4s, I can not activate my Iphone. I send you Screenshots with problem.
ITunes says: "Your request couldn’t be processed. We’re sorry, but there was an error processing your request. Please try again later."

Can someone please explain and help me? I am unlocking an iphone4 from at&t to use it on the straight talk network. They've confirmed my request to do this and I am now a little confused as to what to do next. They want me to back up the phone using itunes on either a MAC or PC. Install iTunes on your Acer and you can back up the iPhone. Or back it up to iCloud. If you do not back it up you can get it unlocked, but you will lose all of your content.
You can get iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes.
Even after unlocking I'm not sure it will work on Straight Talk, because last time I checked ST used Verizon as its carrier, and an AT&T iPhone 4 is not compatible with Verizon's network. You can probably use it on Net 10 or T-Mobile once it is unlocked.

If it is officially unlocked you should be able to load updates without a problem.
Just remember if you need to have it serviced at all you will need to take it back to Italy.

The 4s I keep in Russia with my friend...it was ATT and they unlocked it before end of contract but with extenuating circumstances. The 5 is new last week and I need it unlocked to go to Russia later this summer. I have requested unlock from ATT and they refused twice...first with following procedure and second with phone call. I do not understand their ignorance on this...if you in a contract you either pay for it by the end of two years or you pay when you cancel so you pay regardless...so why not unlock? Why do they no drop you contract price when you have paid out the two years?

I bought iPhone 4, officially unlocked from Apple store in UK, and it was Sim-free, but after installing O2 sim card in O2 store the guy their manage to lock my phone, now my phone is locked to O2 network and I can't be used in any other carrier

If you bought an unlocked iPhone 4 from the Apple Canada store online, not an authorized reseller then the iPhone should remain unlocked no matter which carrier (Rogers, Fido, Bell, Telus, etc) MicroSIM you use. If it is locking it to the carrier and not allowing swapping of MicrSIM for another carrier then call the number below. Please post your outcome after calling Apple. Per the Apple Canada website:

The nice thing about owning this overpriced POS is that Apple not only doesn't support it, but also doesn't want to hear about anything negative regarding it. Factory unlocked iPhone4S on Tmobile cant receive emoji from ATT

My factory unlocked iPhone 4S on T-Mobile cant receive Emoji icons from an ATT iPhone. Instead I see a bunch of weird symbols, but the ATT iPhone can receive emoji's from my phone. Also some of my friends have a verizon iPhone and I can receive their Emoji icons, and they can receive mine. At one point I was able to receive emoji icons from ATT iPhones. Is this a problem on ATT's network or T-Mobile's ? any help would be greatly appreciated !

You are using an iPhone on a non-supported network. A number of items supported with an iPhone on AT&T's network are not supported with an iPhone under T-Mobile's network regardless if this worked previously.

Hello, I think I'm experiencing the same problem. Officially unlocked 3G, no network anymore after upgrading to 3.0. Restart/Restore didn't help. The SIM card doesn't seem to be the evildoer, it works in other phones. The iphone is not locked, it works with other SIM cards. seems somehow the combination of phone and sim causing problems. Didn't resolve that yet. You?
