Offline approval: handheld device

Dear SAP gurus,
We have a requirement in which the approvers in our company will do offline approval through their handheld device. In here they dont want to logon to the system and doing approval and rejection in the system, rather they want to click on a button only in the email and this should be suffice.
This is possible as SRM provides offline approval, in which when user click approve or reject essentially an email containing command to approve or reject will be sent to SRM. This is quite standard, but then they actually want this offline approval to become the same with online approval, in which they can also able to forward the work item.
I dont think it is possible, however if you know that it is actually possible can you enlight me on how to do that?
Best regards,
Yosea

  • SRM7 Offline Approval on PDA

    Hi All,
Does SRM7.0 support offline approval on PDA? I've gone through several threads on configuring it on blackberry but not sure if that works with PDA.
From the configuration settings, it looks like if a handheld device has an HTML compatible mail client and can receive / send emails from / to SRM system, the offline approval should work. Are there other things to consider? Has anyone done this before?
    Many Thanks.

  • Problem while receiving a mail in blackberry using offline approval

    Dear SRM Gurus,
We are working with SRM Server 5.5, SP08.
We are using offline approval functionality using <b>Blackberry</b> device. We
have observed that in an approval mail sent to blackberry, the approver
does not see hyperlink for "Approve by mail" or "Reject by mail" text.
However, when the same approval mail is checked on any other mail
application like gmail or yahoo, we are able to get an hyperlink and
    approve the work item.
While execution of report "RBBP_NOTIFICATION_OFFAPP", we have selected
    a checkbox "with approval links".
Kindly suggest, how can we rectify this problem. We will appreciate your immediate help.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi
Yes, but for this you need have SAP MI (mobile infrastructure) configured in the landscape. MI is part of SAP NW. Integration of MI is possible with SRM2.0 and upwards.

  • SRM Offline Approval via Blackberries is not working

    SRM Experts,
We are using SRM 5.0, PI-7.0. We don't have SAP MI (mobile infrastructure) configured in the landscape. Whenever user approves the Shopping cart from blackberry, it does not work. If user approves from MS-Outlook, it works. I heard that we can approve SC from  blackberry without configuring MI in the landscape.
I also observed that when SC is approved via blackberry, it does not have subject line and workitem number information whereas when it is approved via Outlook it has. Any idea why subject line and workitem number information is missing via blackberry?
    Can someone please help!
    Points will be rewarded..
    Thanks in advance!
    MP

    Hello,
I am assuming that you are using the standard out of the box offline approval process in SRM. What you are saying is that when someone clicks on the link using Blackberry, it does generate an encrypted response but does not populate subject text?
If that is the case please check the version of Blackberry operating system. Try using the functionality from a latest Blackberry model with latest device software installed.
Earlier versions of the BBerry devices/OS did not even support mailto: hyperlink inserted in the approval request mail.
    Abhay
PS: I have tested this functionality using Blackberry Pearl and I did not come across any problem of subject line not getting populated. The encrypted approval response also gets populated correctly.
    Hope this helps.

  • SRM Shopping Cart Offline Approval

    1. I see from SAP Note 1166763 there is a Consulting Solution for the Blackberry.  I see from various SAP Notes that other customers do approve Shopping Carts via the iPhone.*
Does SAP also have a Consulting Solution for the iPhone?
Are there any additional hardware/software requirements to approve Shopping Carts via the iPhone?*
    2. Not all users may have a Blackberry or iPhone.  They may have to approve via Mircrosoft Outlook, as described in this URL: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_srm2007/helpdata/en/31/47c6cb8e9249f2bc29444212e4704a/content.htm*
s the Offline Approval method configurable by user?  Can some users approve via MS Outlook, and some users by Blackberry or iPhone?

    Hi
The Blackberry Consulting solution can be used for iPhone too. The solution works this way, The email communication happens through SRM SErver and your mail server for these devices. When email comes back from these devices, the SRM programs for offline approval reads the emails for some particular action (may be YES NO or , APPROVED etc). If the return email has the information in it, then offline approval programs gets executed and approves the cart.
So the solution is just to decode the incoming email and then process the work item

  • Offline approval via Blackberry

    Dear SRM Gurus,
We have an approval process set up where our users can approve shopping carts from their Outlook inbox without having to login to SRM. We also would like to be able to approve SC from Blackberries.
At first I thought we needed SAP Mobile Infrastructure installed in order to have offline approval via Blackberry. However, I've read some threads here that MI is not necessary and I'm wondering if anyone has tried this already. If so, could you please provide some info on what is needed to enable offline approval from Blackberry.
    Thanks much,
    SN

    Hello,
as far as I know blackberries do not support HTML mails at present. This is announced by RIM for BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.1.5 and BlackBerry device software v4.5 or above (see [http://www.rim.com/news/press/2008/pr-22_01_2008-01.shtml]).
So you need the new software version to use offline approval with blackberries.

  • Interface between SAP and Handheld device

    Hi Experts,
We want to build an interface using SAP Console, Telnet server with Handheld device which will be used in WM Application.
I would like to know how this will work in offline mode. I mean to say, if suppose handheld device is in area where their is no connectivity and user make some transaction on his handheld device, how this will be synchronized with SAP. Will we require any middleware to support interface in offline mode or their will be any local data base on handheld device which will store and push data from device to SAP once device come back into network.
If you worked under such an interface then please reply with your valuable comments.
    Thanks In Advance.
    Regards,
    Md.Yusuf.

    Hi Amit,
Thankx for reply, Could you please let me know how this will work from SAP > Handheld device > SAP using middleware in middle.
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Handheld device out of network.

    Hi Experts,
In SAP WM, we are using computer handheld device(No HU management). My question is If device is out of network, how data will be captured.
    Regards
    Shakir

    Hi Maria,
it is not possible, to work with the handheld device without network connectivity.
You have to be "online" connected to SAP, to use RF transactions like LM00, etc.
There are of course solutions, that span the offline time by holding the connection, so you can continue work directly when the device is back online (unlike SAPGUI, where you have to logon again).

  • Getting Handheld devices to Work - XSLT, WebSAPConsole etc

    Hi
We are trying to get the mobile handheld device working AII. We are using Intermec IP4. We are referring to the Mobile Device Integration Guide pdf document from SAP. We have got the WebSAPConsole to display the \AIN\MOBILE1 transactions, and we are able to do pick pack etc with AII.
But how do we get a mobile device to read data and communicate to SAPAII?
At the WebSAPConsole administrator in the "Web" tab, we originally had:
Displayer Filename = WebDisplayer.dll. We used an XSLT to try to activate ActiveX controls on HTML page and registered this XSLT in registry as in the pdf guide. But, we could not see any ActiveX controls loaded or activated in the HTML page on mobile device (or even on desktop browser).
Next, as per guide we used XMLDisplayer.dll in console administrator instead of WebDisplayer.dll, but we get the error: "Error: can`t initialize" on the browser. We could not find such a file as "XMLDisplayer.dll" in the WebSAPConsole server's installed directory.
How do we get the correct XMLDisplayer.dll file?
Also, the trace file loacted at c:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\websapconsole\log\AII4.0\ is not having any content. How do we get a trace?
Can anyone help in getting this device working please? What steps are to be followed?
Also, can someone how someone can help us in understanding how all this works?
    Regards
    SN

    Hello SN,
first of all: websapconsole only can display a subset of gui controls see Note 535075.
The traces: I assume that you put the Tracelevel to 3, please remember that the user credentials for the isapi under webserver are restricted. I.e. the directory you are trying to write to is probably forbidden for IUSR_.. / IWAM_...
Please try a directory of which you know that is writable to all e.g. c:\temp.
Then the XMLDisplayer: There is no such thing like a correct XMLDisplayer, it is the correct one and (I checked) is delivered in the lastest SapGUI 640 patch.
The XMLDisplayer is just a generic XSLT processor that takes the gui model generated by the backend and a XSLT translation files and produces some (mostly HTML) output.
You already found the dependencies for WebSapConsole in the registry.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\Ofek\SapConsole\Profiles\..]
The XMLDisplayer is relying on the following entries:
    SapPageDisplayer XMLDisplayer.dll
      (the transformer)
    TransformerXSL transform.xsl
(the translation that drives the application)
    OfflineTransformerXSL offline.xsl
(the translation called for messaging / error e.g. "connection to R3 broken")
Some of the handheld firms are delivering an XML translation file for Websapconsole for their product.
If you don't have an xsl file then a good start would be to define a small xslt that matches all and generates all the nodes "as is" to the output.
Then the base XML model is clear and you can start e.g. rebuild the websapconsole webdisplayer.dll HTML output and from that point you're free to change it to your needs as long as you stick with the fieldnames and the submitting scheme.

  • Offline approval - weird characters in Outlook

    Hi all,
    We're on SRM 5.0, Server 550, SP12.
Scenario: offline approval of Shopping Carts
After running report RBBP_NOTIFICATION_OFFAPP, approver is getting an e-mail in Outlook 2003 with some weird characters:
    **START**
    Â
        The following requires processing:
    Â
1 . Approve shopping cart of Shopper with value 64,78 USD

    Â
    Â
Use the following link to log on to the system and carry out the approval online:
        Log on
    Â
    Â
To approve or reject directly from this e-mail, select one of the following links:
    Approve by E-mail   Reject by E-mail   Â
    **END**
When I look at the same message in , these characters are not visible; but there seem to be spaces/blanks in those spots. Looks like Outlook is substituting spaces for some other character.
Also, there're some extra blank lines, which we would like removed.
Any ideas how to get rid of the unwanted characters and unnecessary lines, besides BAdI implementation?
    Cheers,
    Serguei

    Hi,
    Please check the foll note:
Note 1100912 - E-mail messages for work items with incorrect line break
Also, sometimes some junk characters are inserted into the offline mail if the required services(for the generation of mail ) are not active in transaction SICF.
Please see whether the following path is active in SICF:
    SAP/BC/BSP/SAP/SMART_FORMS/DEFAULT.CSS
If the above service is not activated, then activate that and re-test.
Last option would be to implement the BADI BBP_OFFLINE_APP_BADI (method ~MAIL_DATA_GET) to remove the unwanted characters.
    BR,
    Disha.

  • Can I use applworks database on a handheld device?

I am designing a price book for the grocery store. Would like not to invest in another software so I am attempting to use Appleworks database. My purpose is to take this info to the grocery store on a handheld device. I am open to suggestions on which handheld device would work best for this. Handheld must be phone, ical, addressbook. [internet & email not a needed feature.]

There a program by DataVizcalled Documents to Go. It used to support AppleWorks files, but I think it is unlikely that it does any more. Click the link I have provided for more information.
