Offline download document on Portal

Hi All
I am working on PMS module in EHP 6 environment. I have configured a template with the dynamic field ie. We have an "ADD new element attached as free enhancement in phap_catalog_pa  (ADD button) in the template , which when clicked opens the four other elements in a row.And we can add multiple rows in the document.  While doing offline download , the template gets downloaded in pdf and can be uploaded back once filled. Unless we click on add button , the offline download template do not displays the four elements.
can we give the add button access in the downloaded template. How can we get the multiple rows in the PDF downloaded as offline, PFA the format of the template.
We wanted to have this add button functionality available on portal in the offline download pdf format also. Please suggest.
Thanks
Smriti

Hey.
Adding an element with the free_enhancement is not foreseen offline. You can use a workaround but you'll have to develop it yourself in your custom Adobe Interactive Form

  • Time out when trying to open Word/Excel document from portal

    Several of our users have been timing out when trying to open/download documents stored in our portal.
    The error message is "Download failed. Connection to server was reset."
    Is there some obvious setting that I am missing here?
    It happens with things as small as 200K - Word and Excel documents.

    Hi Gary Jiang,
    Thanks for posting in MSDN forum.

  • Integrating Offline adobe form in Portal

    Hi All,
    I created offline adobe form using SFP tcode.
    This form needs to be integrated in Portal. When user logs in, he/she should be able to open this form.
    Can offline adobe form can be integrate to portal directly? or do we need to create the Webdynpro applications only for poral?
    Please let me know whether we can integarate offline adobe form to portal directly. If not why?.. I don't know about portal.
    Thank you!
    Prasad

    Hi Deepika,
    This discussion thread is all about integrating a WebDynpro application which contains adobe form into portal.
    I assume your requirement is different which needs to upload an offline adobe form into portal.
    There are documents available to explain this functionality in detail. Please note down the following.
    1) For uploading adobe form should be XML schema based.
    2) There should be a webdynpro application with uploader UI element which has been integrated into the portal.
    3) On form upload, you will get all the data associated with the form within webdynpro

  • Developing a download centre in Portal

    Hello guys,
    I have an issue here. I am trying to use my KM as a source for downloading documents in my portal. I would like to know if anyone has done this. I have tried to use the KM document iview, but its not very effective.
    Secondly, I want to remove the details button from the KM folders in the portal for end-users, how do I achieve this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Collins.

    Hi,
    If you dont want the features of the KM documents iview then you have to cerate your own application that reads the resourses from the KM.
    In this you have to specify the root folder from which you need to start the browsing then according to your need you can create tree structure or links...
    For creating a tree from KM the following link will be helpfull

  • Editing a downloaded document "in place" and re-uploading it

    We're using the following procedure to download a document that has previously been uploaded to a BLOB field in the table.
    create or replace procedure download_doc (req_id in varchar2) as
    v_mime varchar2(48);
    v_length number;
    v_file_name varchar2(2000);
    v_blob blob;
    begin
    select resp_mime_type, resp_doc_content, resp_doc_name, dbms_lob.getlength (resp_doc_content)
    into v_mime, v_blob, v_file_name, v_length
    from <tablename>
    where id = req_id;
    owa_util.mime_header (nvl(v_mime,'application/octet'), FALSE);
    htp.p ('Content-length: ' || v_length);
    htp.p ('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="' || v_file_name || '"');
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    wpg_docload.download_file (v_blob);
    end;
    The issue we're running into, is that when a user wants to download a document, the user is presented with the choice of opening or saving the downloaded document. That works OK, but what we'd really like to do is offer the user a chance to edit the downloaded document and then by saving the changes (such as by closing the window in which the downloaded document appears, after making edits), the modified document is "re-uploaded" to the database. What we have to do now is save the download document to the user's PC, then the user has to open the document and modify it, save it, and re-upload it to the database.
    Any ideas on how we can save the users a few steps and upload the document directly after editing? Thanks.

    Then the answer is no. The file needs to be saved down to CS5.5 or exported as IDML from CS6.

    Obviously your download was not successful.
    What is your operating system?  How exactly do you download such files?

    On your Macs open System Preferences > iCloud
    Deselect the box next to Documents & Data, then reselect that box then restart your Macs.
    On the iPhone tap Settings > iCloud. Switch Documents & Data off then back on then reset the iPhone.
    Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    See if you can open the files now without opening on the iPhone first.

    Hi, original poster here. I did not realize this would generate more discussion so I never checked back. I still had my warranty, so I took it to the store and got it repaired. The original problem I had was a screen with this icon flashing when I attempted to boot it up:
    When I took it to the store, they told me that my computer was unable to communicate with the hard drive. I had this same problem three times in two months where this screen reappeared. Each time I went back to the store and they said the cause was different, but they were all hardware issues that physically made it impossible to communicate with the hard drive. After the third time, they simply replaced my laptop and I haven't had the same problem.
    So in short: The reason you can't reinstall or move anything when you encounter this screen appears to be because nothing can communicate with the hard drive in the first place. You can't reach the disk or anything on it. So I don't believe it's possible to do anything besides take it to a physical store and have it fixed.

  • Editing and uploading a downloaded document

    Have an application that allows for both uploads of documents (using a File Browse item and transferring the relevant fields from the HTMLDB_APPLICATIION_FILES view to my customized table) and downloads of documents (using a call via a URL to a customized copy of the Oracle download procedure presented in the sample application). Both the upload and download process work OK.
    The issue I'm running into, is that when a user wants to download a document, the user is presented with the choice of opening or saving the downloaded document. That works OK, but what we'd really like to do is offer the user a chance to edit the downloaded document and then by saving the changes (such as by closing the window in which the downloaded document appears, after making edits), the modified document is "re-uploaded" to the database. Well, you can only do that when the content being edited is plain text (mime type text/plain) and less than 32K (hard limit in PL/SQL)
    Looking at how that page (4000:46) is built in f4000.sql, there seem to be some APIs that do some magic
    l_text := wwv_flow_utilities.clob_to_varchar2(
      wwv_flow_utilities.blob_to_clob(p_blob=>l_blob,p_charset=>l_charset));Clearly, all these are undocumented internal-only Oracle APIs that Oracle is not obliged to support.
    Search around on asktom.oracle.com, I am sure you will find code examples that do this sort of thing.
    Hope this helps.

  • Upload / Download document to KM Content Server from WebDynpro Application

    I have a requirement where I need to upload / download document into / from KM Content Server from my WebDynpro Application.
    Is it technically possible and if Yes, can I get any Sample code for this.

    Hi Tahzeeb,
    first of all i would point you to the JavaDocs for KMC API.
    https://media.sdn.sap.com/javadocs/NW04/SPS15/km/index.html
    And here is a small example of reading and storing KM resources.
    For reading:
         * Returns a resource as an InputStream from the KM repository
         * at the given path. The IUser is needed for authorization.
         * @param user      IUser for checking authorisation.
         * @param resPath   Path to the KM resource.
         * @return          Requested resource as a stream.
        private InputStream getKmResource(final IUser user, final String resPath)
            throws ResourceAccessException {
            try {
                final IResourceFactory factory = ResourceFactory.getInstance();
                final RID rid = RID.getRID(resPath);
                final IResource kmResource =
                    factory.getResource(
                        rid,
                        new ResourceContext(getDeprecatedIUser(user)));
                if (kmResource == null) {
                    throw new ResourceNotFoundException(
                        "KM resource not found: " + resPath,
                        resPath);
                return kmResource.getContent().getInputStream();
            catch (WcmException e) {
                throw new ResourceAccessException("Error accessing KM resource: " + resPath, e, resPath);
    And for writing:
         * Stores a resource in the KM repository at the given path with the given name and mimetype.
         * Content is taken from the given inputstream.
         * @param user          IUser for checking authorisation.
         * @param resName   Name of the resource
         * @param resPath     Path to the resource
         * @param mimeType MimeType of the resource
         * @param inputStream  Resource content
         * @throws ResourceAccessException
        private void putKmResource(
            final IUser user,
            final String resName,
            final String resPath,
            final String mimeType,
            final InputStream inputStream)
            throws ResourceAccessException {
            try {
                final ResourceContext rContext = new ResourceContext(getDeprecatedIUser(user));
                final RID rid = RID.getRID(resPath);
                final ICollection kmCollection =
                    (ICollection) ResourceFactory.getInstance().getResource(rid, rContext);
                if (kmCollection == null) {
                    throw new ResourceNotFoundException(
                        "KM resource not found: " + resPath,
                        resPath);
                else {
                    IContent kmContent = new Content(inputStream, mimeType, -1);
                    IResource kmResource = kmCollection.createResource(resName, null, kmContent);
            catch (ResourceException e) {
                throw new ResourceAccessException("Error accessing KM resource: " + resPath, e, resPath);
            finally {
                try {
                    inputStream.close();
                catch (IOException e1) {
                    throw new ResourceAccessException("Error closing InputStream when accessing " + resPath, e1, resPath);
    Hope that helps for a start.

  • HTML document in portal

    Dear friends,
    I got an issue like, my client need to put their HTML document into the portal, its around 300 files. So how to put htis html document into portal. Is it possible to put the html document or not, If not how to make appear HTML document in portal.
    Kindly help me
    Regards
    Suresh

    hi
    first you need upload the html files int oKM content then you need  to create a iviews  based on this content present in KM content
    step 1: uploading the html files
    go to content administration->KMcontent->at the right hand side select the document folder->
    here u create a new folder by selecting folder menu->new->folder
    then your folder will be created under documents folder
    doble click on this (now you under documents/your folder path)
    under you folder
    select folder menu->new->upload
    give  name(ex new.html ),description, and select browse to upload the file
    follow the same procedure for all the html files
    this indicates the u have uploaded all the files properly
    now creating a ivews based on the html documents uploaded in KM content
    content administration->portal content->select your folder->right click ->new->iview->select KM document iview template->give iview name &id etc
    then open the iview for editing
    there u can find a property called " path to document" give the value as " \document\<your folder name where u uploaded the html files under KM content>\file name(ex:new.html>
    like that u can create all the iviews based on the html documents stored under km content

    Thanks and Regards,
    Abhiram Choudary.

    Hi Abhiram,
    Please check it the link to the file uploaded file is ok, in order to make sure that there is a problem with the upload. The link should look like: <Protocol>://<Portal_Server_Name>:<Port>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/<your_Folder>/<your_wordfile_name>.doc
    or
    <Protocol>://<Portal_Server_Name>:<Port>/irj/go/km/docs/documents/<your_Folder>/<your_wordfile_name>.doc
    If it's that's not the case you might need to change the configuration of the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/7d/236cfa17034a37a439dc392ec59eb0/content.htm">URL Generator Service</a>. Perform the steps indicated under "Activities".
