Offline pedestrian navigation?

Hi, i used to have an offline pedestrian navigation for the Nokia N8 (Symbian) but now i own a Lumia 800 (with W7) and there is only an offline drive navigation! Do the other Lumia phones that have Windows 8 perhaps do have this feature offline and free?

Accordning to the Facebook support; rotating maps due to the compass is not available in Lumia WP 8 either, because limitations in the operating system. The specifications are very vague, as they have been all the time, but I guess what 'ugura' means is that the compass itself is working, but not that you can use it with the map?
I wonder what twitter support guys @NokiaHelps would say about this issue

Nokia Drive supports map pre-downloading and therewith an offline mode. I believe it has both a drive and a walk mode. Not sure about public transportation.

Lumia app for pedestrian navigation

Since Nokia maps for Lumia is still years behind what we had in Symbian; what is the best map app for Lumia (WP7.8)?
I need offline maps, map rotating with compass and POI search by categories.

I have no experience of HERE Drive, since it's still not available for WP7.8-Lumias, which was my question. And HERE Drive and HERE Maps doesn't either have the function of rotating the maps due to compass, if I understand it correct. I can not find that in the specifications.

What is the difference between copilot premium europe hd sat nav - offline gps navigation and copilot premium europe sat nav - offline gps navigation & maps

The first one has HD in the name and the other one doesn't, but they cost the same so I was wondering what is the difference between these to applications and which is better for the iPhone 5s.

There are several apps for this - Tomtom, Navigon are two that I can remember.
The GPS does not need cell signal or wi-fi signal to find your position, it uses them ( when available) to get a position more quickly.
The Maps app on iphone uses the internet to gain access to maps, so you would have to have access to the internet to use this app.
Tomtom and similar Apps store maps on the iphone and do not need a connection in order to be used for navigation.

TP4 / offline database / select in navigator failed

Select in navigator from pl/sql editor failed to find the edited object into the navigator (from where it was opened).

I just opened a pl/sql from offline database navigator.
Do some edits in the editor. Save many times. Compile many times.
Suddenly (no idea why), the context menu Select in navigator don't find the object anymore.
This is only for package body. I don't have this problem with package specification.
Same package body may be accessed without any problem at same time through outgoing subversion pending changes.
The error message is PackageName was not found in Navigator.
The window title bar context is correct.
I have more than one schema in my navigator.
I have two application workspaces and both have same project names.
I have subversion to manage both workspaces.

Blackberry 10 Navigator ridiculous errors for Non-English languages

Last week I had the chance of thoroughly testing the navigator during my one week vacation. I'm a Dutch speaking Belgian with a BB10 Q5 with Dutch language selected. While driving to the French speaking part of my country I noticed that the voice announced all instructions in Dutch but switches over to French for the road names and numbers. While leaving the French speaking parts and going in to the German part, same thing happens in German. This is quite ridiculous and my language prefs should stay in my selected language, no matter where I drive.
This got me thinking: it would mean if I use the navigator in Greece, every road number would be stated in Greek. I know enough French and German to get by, but the navigator would be totally useless in countries of which I don't speak the language. I've been looking out for an offline GPS navigator for BB10, but did not find any suitable replacement. Have others experienced this behavior?

The workaround is a bit ugly because you don’t get any useful feedback in the marker dialog, but it works. The following images (made with FrameMaker 7.2) show the marker dialog before and after clicking "Edit Marker"
and the appearance in a List Of Markers document with visible special characters in a wide and in a narrow column.
In the wide column you can see the special symbol which is the placeholder for the discretionary hyphen. If this does not appear, try to reenter \x04 in the dialog.

How can I delete favourite collection in Ovi map 3...

I have tried to search for delete function in Ovi Map 3.03 to delete the collection of my favourite. Unluckly, I can't find that function

Well, smartphones are MEANT to be used with data plans anyway. And what do you mean 1 hour to disable all data connections? Actually I have mine offline and I sync to online ovi maps in like 5min.
What I do is
1. I have the Ovi Maps on my phone set to completely offline (offline mode in settings, A-GPS and Network turned off in Positioning Methods). Ovi Maps has also been preconfigured to automatically login to my account before when I was connected to WiFi.
2. I turn on my PC, and log in to Ovi Maps.
3. On my phone, without changing the settings anywhere, I go to Ovi Maps(its a screen shortcut)>Favorites>Sync with Ovi. Syncs in about a few minutes (of course I still only have quite a few routes and favorites, case to case anyway). It automatically goes online without changing the offline settings.
4. As soon as it finishes syncing, I check the favorites on the PC browser, delete what I want to.
5. After that, I sync on the phone again, and voila, route's gone. And the Ovi maps settings are set to completely offline during navigation.
Actually, if you are regularly in the presence of a WiFi hotspot, why dont you just sync it like every time you pass it, like every morning when you pass by starbucks for some coffee. You sync your phone. When you get home, if you dont have WiFi at home, then you delete and edit your favorites on your PC, then tomorrow, you sync again at starbucks.

Nokia 225 Arabic Language Pack

Is it possible to add the arabic language pack to the nokia 225? My mother just bought a new nokia but she loves arabic and it is necessary that she can read it on her phone. If not, could someone suggest a simple nokia (not smartphone) with the arabic preinstalled. The product code of the phone is 059V5W8. Thanks.

With a Nokia Series 30+ (MediaTek) based phone like yours, the set of languages depend on the firmware variant. The firmware variant is identified through the Nokia Product Code which is printed on the label on the phone (059…). You have a phone designated for Germany. If you had 059V5Z3 for example, you would get the Arabic language. However, you might loose other languages this way, like German. Which languages do you need?
Officially, only a Nokia Care Center is able to change the firmware variant, officially.

Apps Update - Error Code 80048823

My Nokia 820 failed to update a Skype App, and produced an error code of 80048823.
I've checked the SD card for errors and found none. I've put a brand new SD Card
formatted on a Win 7 desktop PC into my phone but I'm still getting the same error.
Any idea's on how to fix the problem. ?

Nothing wrong with microsoft account,
I tried to download other Apps without success, so I was forced into doing a complete RESET. This fixed the problem.
I hated having to do it as I use Nokia Drive Beta for offline satelite navigation when touring around Europe in our motorhome and had most of the EU maps installed. When doing a phone backup even though it backs up the Apps it doesn't backup the maps, so I now have to reinstall every map MANUALLY.
In the ideal world Nokia could resolve this issue and back up maps as well as apps.

JDEV 11G TP3 [BUG]: Diagramming / Use Case & Activity / open save

I'm not able to open existing use diagram and couldn't save activity diagram after i created them. So UML is not functional in this preview release.
Is this knowns bugs ?
Is some workarounds knows ?
I need these diagrams very soon and would know if i have to create them in a another tools or it is a way to use JDeveloper for them.

I suspect the problem may be due by the fact i'm using two workspaces simultanously, both managed with subversion. I already detected in the same configuration that "Select in Navigator" from pl/sql editor doesn't find an edited file (loaded from the offline database navigator) in the offline database navigator because it was searching the same project but in the wrong workspace.

Few bugs and lacks on my Nokia 5530XM (firm 20.0.8...

Hello everyone, on december I upgraded the firmware on my Nokia 5530 from 11.x to 20.0.80 and luckily lots of bugs I reported were fixed. Now that's the situation:
- Worst problem: When I receive a call and the phone is locked the two bars appears (the green to start the conversation and the blue ones). The problem is that sometimes I just can't reply to the call even if I slide lots of times the finger on the green bar (it seems to be inactive)... but the blue one works!
- The switch between the normal and the landscape display mode is still too slow and inaccurate It takes two seconds to "rotate" the display (or sometimes it does not rotate at all .-.) and lots of times it rotates unintentionally (or because I rotated the phone for very few degrees, for examples when I take it out the pocket)... veeery annoiyng .-.
- Is it possible to improve the global speed of the phone? Sometime the kinetic scroll lags and normal applications takes more time to start (even if I haven't programs running in background).
- I've got two email profiles on the Messages, and when I connect to one of this the phone notifies the presence of new email (if any). The problem is that the little symbol of "new emails" on top-right corner of the home screen remains active also if I read all the messages and I close the connection.
I need to restart the phone to make it disappear.

Ovi suite slow as hell on windows 7

After a long time of not using Ovi suite, I downloaded yesterday the newest version from the Ovi suite.
When I ran the installer, it said that I'm installing the newest version, but after installing and running ovi suite, I get a message that a newer version was found(even though I was on 2.1.1.1) and that it wants to update to it. Fine, I said, updated. Version stayed 2.1.1.1.
After that, I connected my phone, a 5800. This was nightmare. Ovi started syncing, and got stuck on syncing photos. It took me about 20 to CANCEL the photos syncing.
Afterwards, I started backing up my phone. This went OK through out the entire process, except the ending - Ovi got stuck and had to be closed.
After closing Ovi, I noticed a process, Nokiamserver, that was eating my disk with reading. It kept reading and reading and reading. I eventually had to close it because I just could not work with that process reading so much from the disk.
The overall Ovi interface is very slow as well. Everything takes its time to load, everything moves slowly. I was quite disappointed with that.
Nokia - can you make a good syncing program that will really compete with iTunes? That will work good and fast?

I'm new to this forum, and Nokia phones.
Bought a C5 yesterday (sell-out of old stock) because it said it did offer what I need:
Basically a USB-stick with a screen, offline GPS navigation and telephone. I don't need no mobile Internet access.
Well, what can I say: This device sucks, and massively so. User-unfriendly, ridiculously slow, and unnerving features like disappearing maps, etc. As close to a first grade ripp-off as it can get. It just nearly does what it is supposed to do; just enough so you can't actually sue Nokia for ripping you off. But then again, it does not guide me to where I want to drive to. It does not download and remember the maps i need, etc.
VERY disappointing. Look for mine on ebay - I need a hammer to hang a picture from time to time. I don't need to invent, engineer, manufacture and assemble the hammer in the first place each time I want to hang a picture!
Nokia: This is 2012. If you want to be here by 2013 you have a LOAD of basic homework to do! Detention for 12 months!

RoboHelp 6 Search Limitations?

I'm having trouble getting ZoomSearch to work. I've tried to
follow the instructions on your site.
I'm getting 'Page Not Found' because the results pages are
pointing to:
"FOLDER..!SSL!/RoboInfo_Output/pagename.htm" instead of the
real url (FOLDER/pagename.htm".... so I think I'm pointing to wrong
folders when I create my search index, but I've tried several ways
of doing it. It must be easy to fix, but I can't figure out.
1. In my project under HTML files I created a new folder
"search_files".
2. In my published output folder, I created a folder with the
same name.
3. I ran ZoomSearch and with Offline mode, navigated to my
Project folder.
4. For the base url, I selected ../ (not sure if this is
correct, but my search_files folder in the Output folder is two
levels down from my main Project folder.)
5. I did Javascript method and for Output options, created
index files in the search_files folder in my Output folder (not
sure if this is correct, but tried other options too.)
6. Under HTML folders, highlighted search_files and imported
search.html that is located in the Output folder.
7. I added my search.html page to my TOC and published.
8. The correct search results will come up, but when I click
on the links I get Page Not Found because the path is pointing to
my Output folder.
From this, can you see what I'm doing wrong??? The longer I
spend trying to fix this, the more confused and frustrated I get!

Apps Update error

I upgraded to iOS 5.1 couple days ago and just now my phone is giving me unknown error when I enter my Apple ID password. I reset my password and still doing the same thing. My phone accepted the new password for Find my friends app and FaceTime. Help.
