Offline Rendering

Hello.
The current version of Pixel Bender Plug In (Version 2.1) the image is rendered for every movement of the slide, the calculation of the filter.
It does so to have "Live View" of the effect.
For intensive filters on large image it makes the slider unresponsive, which makes the User Experience horrible.
I wonder if you could add a Check Box for "Offline Rendering".
Meaning the calculation won't take place until the user released the slider (The Value is set).
It is much better for large images.
Thank You.

I tend to err on the side of "when in doubt give the user the option." However, there are plenty of reasons, that I will not go into now, why not to give the user the option. In a perfect world where we can deliver all the features we (our customers and our team) want, I agree this is a worthwhile feature and given the current state of things I think it's even more of a worthwhile feature. The question often is, given our limited resources, is it worth adding a feature such as the one you suggested when doing so may mean dropping another feature. I'm not convinced that it is in part because I'm not convinced this need be as large a problem as it currently is or as large a problem as you think it is. In any case, I appreciate the suggestion and the dialog. I'm by no means the last word on this and I'll make sure the request reaches a larger audience.

  • Conflict between Logic Pro and external device error in Logic Pro X./cpu problems

    hi Logic users,
    using a MacBookPro 15 inch Retina, 2,7 GHz intel Core i7, 16 GB Ram, OSX 10,8,5, Logic X 10.0.4.
i am wondering if you can help me out with the following problem i cant solve:
when starting logic x with a not too big arrangement, lets say using one third to half of cpu, i open u-he plugin Diva and the cpu is going up on full range and the following error appears: "sample-rate 39299 (number always changes) reconized. Check conflict between logic pro x and external device"
as external device im running a VirusTi and as audio-device Apogge Duet. when dis-connecting both devices, i have the same problem.
putting the sample buffer up to the highest rate, doesnt change anything.
same arrangements on friends computers dont show that problem, so it has to be something wrong in my set up.
    anybody has an idea?
would be much appreciated for your help,
    thanx-

Have you used Diva's preset Accuracy system to reduce CPU load?
    accuracy
Click on the Main button at the bottom of the window. To the right of the Master section are two selectors called Accuracy and OfflineAcc. In the current version of Diva these are global parameters i.e. they remain fixed across all presets, per loaded instance:
draft........CPU-friendly, but FM will sound rough and resonance is primitive i.e. NOT zero delay! fast......... Fine for older computers and/or when you need more polyphony in acceptable quality great...... The best compromise between quality and polyphony on high-power computers divine..... Top-quality zero delay feedback filters... but can your computer can handle it?
OfflineAcc only has two options – same or best (i.e. divine in the current version).
Some host applications may have problems rendering to audio at the selected accuracy, but the
better ones include an “inform plug-ins of offline rendering status” or similar.
I typically work in draft mode and then switch to Devine or best when freezing the track or bouncing the entire project...

  • Location Manager as Security Safeguard?

When OS X first came along, many of us were still using dial-up connections. When I installed Panther on my old blueberry iMac, a book I was reading suggested using the Location manager to create a so-called "offline" location so that the computer wasn't constantly attempting to dial up the internet when you didn't intend it to. (Obviously this "offline" setting wasn't a location at all but simply a way of turning off both of the "network port configurations": "Internal Modem" and "Built-in Ethernet" for this airportless machine.)
As I've upgraded to newer machines and software versions (currently the latest iMac and OS 10.5.6), I've kept on setting up the location manager this way (at present, "offline" renders "Ethernet" and Airport" inactive while letting "Firewire" and "Bluetooth" remain working). When I know I'm not going to be using my Mac (for instance while I'm not home or when I'm sleeping), I set the location back to "Offline." Yesterday, out of the blue, I suddenly wondered, "Why am I still doing this?" In the back of my mind, I guess I've been imagining a security benefit from this old "offline" habit: "offline" means my Mac is (at least for a time) not accessible to hackers via my cable modem, even though it is not shut down.
So (and pardon the long preface) my question is this: If I leave my computer running 24/7, as many who post here say they do, am I gaining anything by still creating an "offline" setting in Leopard and using it while I'm not on my Mac?
Before you reply, I should add that I've read many security-related posts in various forumns, and I've used the good advice. Specifically, I use a new Airport Extreme Base Station and have password-enabled WPA2 Personal encryption. I also utilize the obvious "General" security preferences: requiring a password to wake the computer from sleep or a screensaver, or to unlock a System Preferences pane; disabling automatic login; and enabling secure virtual memory. Furthermore, I have created separate user accounts (without administrative status) for general use, and I use a specific account with FileVault enabled for dealing with sensitive information. In addition, I have my firewall set to "Set access for specific services and applications," which at present only allows iTunes to communicate with an Airport Express (also with password WPA2 encryption) to use AirTunes. Lastly, I've enabled the "Stealth Mode." Well, I could go on: "Accept cookies...Only from sites you navigate to" in the Safari preferences. On and on. (Feel free to add to my list.) But, to return to my question, with all the aforementioned diligence, does such an "offline" setting in the Location manager serve any real purpose? Or am I just wasting my time?
In advance, thanks for taking the time to read such a long posting.

I created a singleton for this - seems to work quite well

  • FCP export of rendered seq: some 'offline media' warnings in exported file

    Hi,
We had an issue last weekend with a file that was exported from FCP:
    - sequence was fully rendered in FCP
    - export Quicktime movie (not a QTref)
    - the exported file had an almost 1minute red 'media offline' warning in the middle of the file
    - when we checked the sequence again at that sport, all the media was still there and all was fully rendered
    - we did another export and all was fine ...
Anyone that had has this issue ?

Not particularly, but have you tried trashing all renders, then re-rendering?
It's possible the sequence was seeing a render file (but not connecting to it on export), when in actuality the clip/media is in fact off-line.
Give it a shot if you haven't and let us know.
Might also fill us in on details about your system and media you're working with.

  • Media Offline after Rendering

Been having an issue with multiple computers using Creative Cloud. After rendering the project all the media goes offline. I have to restart Premiere to get media back.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi Jonathon_H,
    Thanks for all the information.
As you mentioned that it is not happening after the update but in case if it happens again, try to clean the media cache files which are situated on the below location:
"C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Media Cache" and "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Media Cache Files".
Please update if all goes well.
    Happy Editing!!

What version is FCPX and what version is your OS?
How are you exporting and with what preset?

  • Digitize resolutions offline workflow without rendering

    Hello Guys,
one more question with offline resolutions: we are trying to digitize miniDV material over SDI or DigiBeta over SDI (blackmagic decklink and the other workstation is equiped with Kona LH) in OfflineRT. Whatever we do to store our material offline and work offline we have to render it completely and miss audio. With 10Bit PAL or NTSC no Problem. What is wrong?? Thank you very much for an answer.

mmmmmm.... Try opening the capture preset editor for DV to OfflineRT. (Duplicate it) then select the digitizer to be your Kona card... might just work like a charm! I can select it from there... I'd think you can too.
You'd probably want the 8 or 10 bit digitizer set... and your Kona control panel you simply leave alone. dunno about the Decklink gear.
Seems to me it might work just fine, and the Decklink gear might also work.
You'll end up with a custom capture preset for 8 or 10 bit uncompressed to OfflineRT that way.

  • The mail function renders PDFs well - can it be used for offline review

I'm very happy with my iPad.
However one of the "justifications" for, it is so that I can read a library of pdf files off line.
There are lots of PDF readers- free and paid -with different functionality.
However the best from my POV is actually the one in embedded mail reader.
This is because when you flip to landscape mode, it immediately stretches the file to page width rather than trying to display a whole page. The font is immediately easily readable - better than in portrait.
Is there anyway I can save the PDFs to iPad in someway and then use the mail reader to open them?
Or if anyone knows of a pdf reader that will immediately render in page width on flipping to landscape.
I've used iBooks reader, cloud reader, and good reader and something else - but none of them nicely do what I've described as Mail does.
    Thanks

  • Thunderbird running under Win 8.1 with Defender does not download attachments and offline content.

Thunderbird on Win 8.1 with Windows Defender is not downloading attachments from my roadrunner email account. It does so when running under Ubuntu 12.04 though. On Windows no attachments are shown. Also on Windows there is content that is not shown, I know so as there is an empty box. Then there is no option to download offline content. How may I use Thunderbird to read my email if it won't display properly? I trust the source of these emails as they are from the legal department of my former employer. I asking for the content to be resent does not work either. Please help me.

  • Error Message for "Media Pending" or "Media Offline"

    This is INCREDIBLY frustrating.
It is my job at a church to produce broadcast-quality segments for our local tv stations for 28 minute slots. I am working with HD-quality videos, bumpers, audio files, etc. It takes my PC about 30 minutes to render each segment and I work with about 4 segments a week. Add that up, and it takes me two straight hours to render each finished product (not counting any edit work), all which have to be done in a day because we broadcast most of the stuff that happens on Sunday the following Tuesday.
That said, I render the final product, after everything has been through quality-control, through encoder because of the FTP option. When I leave every Monday afternoon, I start the queue for the four segments, which, in turn, will spit out the product and FTP it to our server at the tv stations.
But when I come in Tuesday morning and find that AME has rendered four USELESS videos because, instead of informing me when I started the queue there was something wrong with fetching the video files, it decided to render some stupid stock frame of either, "Media Pending" or "Media Offline" - which makes ABSOLUTLY NO sense, for when I open premiere or after effects, it renders quite fine through AME. You can't sit here and tell me that the rendering software requires the project to be open in Premiere or AE. That would be counter productive and impossible for anyone batch-rendering.
Here is what I need: Just a simple, "Hello, there was something wrong with fetching all of the media files in your project (blank, blank, blank) - please check your project file."
    Thanks!

Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • How do I find the "Offline Media" or otherwise fix this?

When I try to encode a particular 30 minute timeline (I have successfully encoded other shorter timelines for Blu-ray before, in between, and after getting errors on this timeline)  I get this error message - "Offline material is present in this export and will be encoded using the Offline Media graphic". I have spent hours going through the timeline frame by frame and cannot find any "offline material." As far as I can tell nothing is offline.
Presumably, Premiere Pro "knows" what is offline. Is there any way to get Premiere Pro to indicate to me WHAT it "believes" is offline and WHERE on the timeline it believes that material is?
Yesterday, even though this error appeared, I successfully encoded this timeline for DVD. It encoded fine and a frame by frame examination of the encoded video by two people did not find any sign of "the Offline Media graphic" or any sound problem.
I decided the error message was itself an error and have spent nearly all day yesterday and today trying to encode the timeline for Blu-Ray. I have tried the unmodified AME presets "H.264 Blu-ray" and "MPEG2 Blu-ray". Both generate the same error message -- "Error compiling file. Unknown error."
I have tried to EXPORT it directly from Premiere Pro and from an AME QUEUE. The result are exactly the same either way.
The encode appears to proceed normally, but after about
I am working on a 2 x 2.4 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon MAC running with a OSx (10.8.5) with 28 GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 RAM. It has an nVidia graphics card, but at the moment I can't get this box to show me which one, so I will send this message now and update that bit of info if someone requires it.

WELL... that was weird. Thank you all for your advise, but it seems I was mislead by Premiere Pro, so I must apologize for unintentionally misleading you.
I STILL get the error message - "Offline material is present in this export and will be encoded using the Offline Media graphic".
And after following the advice I got from Michael MTT and checking every single one of the dozen of offline clips in the project... I know absolutely that there is not a single offline clip in the timeline I'm working on and that the error message is indeed a mistake by Premiere Pro.
But the solution to the "Error compiling file. Unknown error." message turned out to be truly weird. It was generated by a corrupted video effect (color correction) on a 2 second clip.
As I mentioned, I also work on an Avid system and when a timeline on the Avid has this sort of problem I do a "video mixdown" which PP calls "nesting". Based on the success of that procedure I decided to try nesting all the video tracks in this troublesome PP timeline. That turned the render line above of the timeline entirely RED. So I did a RENDER ALL (is that what it's called?) and about a quarter of the way through the timeline, up popped "Error compiling file. Unknown error."  The rendered line was green up to a point and then red. Finally, I had a place to look and what I discovered when I did was that when I played through that part of the timeline it was holding the previous graphic as a still through the clip with the corrupted effect on it, but the criminal clip was not being played. I dug around, found the corrupted effect, which was the third of three identical color corrections applied to that clip. I deleted it and POP the everything displayed and rendered and encoded perfectly.
    Thanks again all.

  • HP LaserJet 1200 Goes "Offline" and won't Print

I upgraded to Leopard 10.5, then 10.5.1 and my HP LaserJet 1200 will print until my G5 has slept, then the print queue says the printer is offline. I restart and it works again until the next sleep cycle. Anyone know a fix for this?

I think I found the problem. Leopard doesn't like my USB 2.0 PCI card. I had the same problem a while ago with an earlier version of OSX. It was resolved with an OS update. I wish I understood the value of having PCI slots on my G5, when even such a simple device as my USB card is rendered useless by a new operating system.

  • Master source files mysteriously go offline, no workaround-{??}

I am working on a short film project in Final Cut Pro (latest version, but not latest update). I imported the footage as a master clip, then split it into three large clips. Anyways, I have the whole thing edited except a few additionaly scenes on a new tape. So I try to log and capture the last remaining scenes with a new camera I just bought, but I keep getting a message saying "Cannot capture footage as there is no video". This problem didn't exist with my old camera, so I get confused. What happened was, in my haste I fiddled around with some settings I shouldn't have. I think the problem started when I switch my MEDIA MANAGER file destination to another external hard drive. I don't know why I did this, but I thought it would help. Around this same time, I tried to log and capture by "batch", something I have never tried before. But then I realize something - More than half of my film has gone offline!!
When I try to reconnect the media and perform a SEARCH, I get a referenced film called "Untitled1" that is a 5 second clip that has nothing to do with the 12 minute clip of footage that has gone offline in my timeline. So, I try to manual find the 12 minute file, but cannot. At this point, I am afraid that my 12 minute file, which could have been named "Untitled" also has been replaced by this 5 second clip. So, I try and search ALL "Untitled" files, but my 4 or so Gig file is not showing up. To my knowledge, the file couldn't have been deleted, since I seem to have the same amount of free space on the hard drive as I had before.
Next, I figure it's somehow the camera, which wouldn't let me import new footage. I return the camera and get a new, (and albeit twice as expensive) camera, but the same error persists. [[on a side note: If in log and capture, you get a 'preview disabled', how does one ENABLE preview?
Anyways weird thing is, I see the footage fine in the camera's LCD, but not on Final Cut, which is telling me there is no video. And, at this point, I'm not sure what it is exactly I did when I fiddled with my Final Cut Pro settings to screw it up this much. A third of the film, referencing "Untitled2" and "Untitled3" master files is still there and plays fine, and all of my EDITS are there, except that that other 3/4 of footage is offline and unviewable. [[rendering all doesn't help at all]]
I tried opening a new project and importing, but I get the same error message and cannot import my tape. I tried OLD tapes that worked fine before and were already used, but the problem persists. I've tried everything I know, but I cannot get my footage ONLINE. I can find no place on my computer where most of my footage should be. When I tried to reconnent using a different file, my offline edits can completely thrown off, but at least I made a backup for THAT. I should have made a backup to the original, but that was my error.
At this point, it seems I need to reedit it, but I can not even import my original tapes now!!!
I would immensely appreciate help, as I am in turmoil and have a deadline to send this film in to complete my short film collection.
I can supply more information, but please respond, and I will work with you. This film means everything to me.

#30 - Deck recognition after Tiger Upgrade:
    Shane's Stock Answer #30:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1063600&#1063600
The credit for this goes to Bob Sidebotham:
I was just walked through a repair procedure by an Apple Care person, and it fixed my camera recognition problems (I have a Canon XL1 and sometime after installing Tiger, then 10.4.1, various patches (including Quicktime 7.1) and the latest Desktop Video patch, I've been unable to use the camera with Final Cut Express, and attempts to capture would result in a FCE crash).
The workaround is to download Quicktime manually, after removing the "receipts" which indicate that it is loaded. Specifically, I was told to do the following:
    1. Navigate to Library -> Receipts on your main drive (not from your personal folder).
    2. Remove all files of the form QuickTime*.pkg, where "*" is a version number. E.g. QuickTime600.pkg, QuickTime650.pkg, Quicktime700.pkg and QuickTime701.pkg. This simply tells your system that those packages are not installed.
    3. Go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/downloads and click on the "download Quicktime" link. DO NOT USE THE AUTOMATIC UPDATE UTILITY. Download QuickTimeInstallerX.dmg. Double click this file (probably on your desktop) and then invoke the installer by double clicking QuickTime701.pkg.
    4. After your computer reboots, you should be able to restart FCP and see your camera.
