Offline reporting & BEx Download Scheduler

Hi Expert,
I had follow scenario Offline reporting from help.sap.com, but when I run Bex Download Scheduler there is pop up message You are not assigned to any packages.
For ur info I had create web template and precalculating setting wiht the schedule.
There is away to check where did I wrong?
And where is the result of web template and precalculated setting store?
Will be appreciate for any suggestion

S_FRC,
RSRA,
FUGR.
Now it´s working but the user still have some open points:
1 - The files are always overwriiten - it means that the data from the weeken can not be seen. There´s any parameter that can be setted that allow it to create different files each runtime?
2 - Is it need that the computer must alway be turn it on? If the file is saved on a shared file can be this problem avoided?

BEX download scheduler - triggered by rep. agent ??

hello,
          I have setup the rep. agent job and after its done, I scheule the BEx download scheduler and get my results saved. can we use the rep. agent job to trigger the bex. scheduler job..sometimes the rep. agent job may fail or still running, but the download scheduler starts and we get yesterdays data...
      I need the rep. agent job to complete first, then only the BEx downloader needs to start...anyway to check if rep. agent job is done and then trigger the bex. downloader...

Hello Janos,
For me, it was a network domain issue as I am set up on a different domain from the domain the SAP servers are on. (Per the clientu2019s company divisions). Essentially, I had to update my hosts file to read the correct SAP application server names for itsu2019 corresponding IP address.
You can open this file using Notepad and make the relevant entries directly in the file on your PC. Filename is "Hosts" and here is the file path (I'm on Windows XP Service Pack 2):
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
These are the 3 entries I had to make for BWD, BWQ, & BWP:
Host entries for SAP BW BEx Download Scheduler:*
10.96.8.18     nyvalsbwd.xxxxxxxx.com
10.96.8.24     nyvalsbwq.xxxxxxxx.com
10.96.8.25     nyvalsbwp.xxxxxxxx.com
(The xxxxxxxxx in the above host names is just to maintain security). When you initially open your u201Chostsu201D file, you will see a few examples and further explanations. I hope this helps!
Also, what tipped us off in this direction, was analyzing the trace files. OSS Note #543817 shows you how to generate trace files for the BEx Download Scheduler.

I´m able to download the data to an excel file but now the user has some problems with the folow points:
1 - The files are always overwriten - it means that the data from the weekend can not be seen. There´s any parameter that can be setted that allow it to create different files each runtime?

I would recommend you to write a batch file (.bat) that renames or copy the file names after the download. You can also schedule this batch file with Windows Tasks.
In alternative, you can doplicate the query and schedule the new one only on Saturday.

Dynamic Variant in Download Scheduler

Dear All,
I am using BEx download Scheduler and reporting agent to schedule a report. The report asks for 2 input Values 0netduedate and 0calmonth. I give these 2 inputs in a variant and schedule the report.The Report gets run at the scheduled time everyday but it uses the same variant. I want the 0netduedate to reflect the current date. Currently although I use 0P_KEYDT (keyduedate) as variable for 0netduedate which is sy-datum , the report gets scheduled for the date I scheduled it on even the next day. The date doesn't change to the present date.Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem? Is it possible to make a variant with dynamic date input?

you'll see it under the variant attributes screen. i know people get reluctant to choose something from a grayed out field but you will be able to choose a selection variable and then the name of the variable
so for a date field you could choose say D and Previous Month

URL accessed by the Download Scheduler

Hi all,
When i run the BEx Download scheduler for a package, a certain URL is accessed where the Web Templates are Stored. This is downloaded onto the PC.
The Problem here is the default URL string that is accessed by the Download scheduler is failing. Is there any solution such that we can get the Download scheduler to access the Web template through the IP address of that server. Kindly let know if there are any such settings or any other way to acheive it

The reporting agent template consistency check is successful with consistent results. And, I corrected the errors in the documents in RSRV. The files are downloading in to my desktop, but when i try to download them to the windows server i get the 1 KB files. When i open them this is what shows up....

Does the server need to have the FTP and IIS installed in it to download? Because when i tried to download the same into my desktop and another PC over the LAN(both has FTP & IIS installed), its working fine.
I presume that this is more of a security issue outside SAP than an internal one.

Download Scheduler Reports

Hello Experts,
                    I have been executing queries in background (Pre-calculated web templates - Reporting Agent) for the users for several months, and downloading them to the PC using Download Scheduler application. For some testing purpose, I executed one of the queries in foreground (Ad-hoc) using BEx Analyzer to reconcile the Adhoc report with the downloaded report. I noticed that the size of the downloaded report was drastically huge compared to the Adhoc report. Can someone tell me what the issue is and how to minimize the size of the downloaded report?

   Thanks for your response.pls correct me if any thing wrong in my understanding.I feel that initiation will be taken by Reporting agent to generate appropriate web report with the help of control query and main query. Then resultant URL will be sent back to RA, where it is adding 001 to the "dataprovider name" and will push this files with 001 when the end user downloads.
Is it possible to add result of the control query to the dataprovider name at web template level dynamically. so that RA will generate final file as "dataprovidername_uk_001". So that user can easily identify which report belongs to which company.
   If you have any specimen batch file. Can u plz send it to me.

Reporting Agent and Download Scheduler

Hello All,
    I have an issue with the Reporting Agent and Download scheduler. I am on BW 3.5. I am not familiar with the setup myself (I inherited it), and I would like some basic information.
   Essentially it was working fine until we added some new settings. Now, the Download Scheduler freezes mid-run - just stops - and I am guessing this has to do with the new settings that were created (not by me - again, I just inherited all this).
   Any help, suggestions, links to white papers (Google was NOT helpful) anything at all on this ancient technology would be appreciated.

Download Scheduler How to?

Dear All,
I have a report made in BEx Query Designer. The report comes fine in the browser.I haven't used download scheduler as of yet but I require the report to be scheduled everyday and the report be sent to the user's mailbox. How does the download scheduler work? How can we schedule it using reporting agent? How to work with the reporting agent? If anyone does have any documents on this issue can to send it to me at [email protected] or forward links to documents.

the download scheduler can be used to download a package - create a package for precalculation in the reporting agent and then open the same using the download scheduler and schedule the same...

Offline Reports in BW

Hi Gurus,
In Our company we have implemented SAP BW 7.0 SP 19. We have reports in BEx Analyzer and Bex Web Analyzer but in the company need something additional "Offline navigational Reports".
In other words the users wants to execute the reports in their houses as they be in the company.
Are there a way or technology to do this. Something that allow to download the data and allow to user navigate in a report offline???

Offline reporting not possible in BW.
Downloading and doing analysis in spread sheets may leads to lots of mistakes and creates confusion. Not a good idea.
For some static reports, without navigation, using information broadcasting reports can be distribute to mail id as a pdf.

Offline Reporting with Excel? -- complete Report +hierarchy possible?

Hi people!
Im new in SAP BW and I have a question regarding BEX. My goal is to get a complete Excel report that contains all the data and has a working hierarchy structure without connection to BW!
I generated a report with Query Designer whose data are represented in several hierarchy levels (option in row-header).
=>date
===>area
=====>customer
=======>material
After the execution of the query in BEX Analyzer or in the web, only the highest level (date) is indicated. If I open the next levels, the data are reloaded of the BW each time.
But Id like to load the data completely despite hierarchy (Transaction RSRT and then properties load all data is selected).
Ok to get all the data, I could change the option in Query Designer to open all the levels after the first load, but the hierarchy levels should be closed at the first time.
<u>My Question is:</u>
Is there a possibility to get all the data offline in Excel with working hierarchy levels? Its important for me to get a complete report without connection to BW and so the people can navigate also offline, e.g. open a lower hierarchy level with all the data.
After saving my report as *.xls-file, the report contains only the part of the shown results and the hierarchy symbols have no function.
I dont need any symbols in offline report. I think, the excel function group by would enough for my requirements. But I dont know how can I use this function with my data after running the query.
In SAP R/3 the same is possible automatically, when a report will be generate.
I have tried to find responses here in forum. But the search is unfortunately a little complicated and the results were not satisfactory.

OK, I have read something about OLE and BSP, but I hope to find an easier solution without programming.
Maybe the tool XL Reporter would be a solution, but we have no Business One licence. Unfortunately, current links for download a free version (I dont know if its free), which I found here in the forum are not working for me. Whats wrong with XL Reporter?

Thanks for your trouble and sorry for the late answer, but unfortunately I had to do a lot.
I think, to describe my idea is not so easy with my English. But maybe you can understand it.
First I should say, the web report and the offline Excel report are two different things now. I don't save the webreport to excel.
The web report gets a hierachy and other formatings and with access to BW the user can use the report just as one likes.
My idea for the offline Excel report is to save the complete data without hierarchy or other formattings. So every characteristic and every key figure is in a separate column and all rows contains data.

Then the created Excelsheet should be handled by vba.
As far as I know, you can select the data in Excelsheet with normal SQL commands. If the corresponding data are selected, I try to use the group by function in vba code.
So first I select the materials from the first customer. If I found the next customer I want to group all materials for the previous customer.
The Result should look so: (+ -> to open the materials)

Download Scheduler - required authorization?

Hi,
I have prepared precalcalculated report for user and he is supposed to
be able to download this report using the download scheduler. But when he runs
the download scheduler an error message occurs before it finishes. I tried
giving him a SAP_ALL access just to test if it has something to do with his
BW authorization, and it did work. Does anyone know what authorization
object I used for this (of course I can't give him SAP_ALL).

Hi,
You can go to 'help.sap.com' and use the following path:
SAP BIW-> Data warehousing -> Data warehouse management -> Authorisations -> authorisation for working with BEx -> Authorisations to work with a Query.
The above would provide you with a comprehensive list of all that is required.

Download scheduler

Hello experts,
1. I created a web template
2. In report agent -I did a setting for the web template
3. I scheduled the setting in the package.
4. the setting was for
          data calculation
          Excel sheets
          HTML pages
Then I checked the preview, I got data in it.
5. I ran the package
6. i used download scheduler to create HTML pages and Excel workbooks
the workbooks and HTML pages were created in Mydocuments.
7. all documents which got created were of size zero KB.
   I dont see any data in HTML pages as well Excel workbooks. BUt lot of them got created.
Please help me how to pre-calculate and created workbooks and html Pages.

"Files are displayed and downloaded, but the total file size is 0 KB (empty). This may be for various reasons.
One reason may be that no SAP Web Application Server has been configured or activated. Using note 543817, you can create a trace that contains the URLs that were called. Try to open these URLs manually in the Web Browser. If this does not work, this implies that there is a general configuration problem. The required settings for BW 3.0B or higher are contained in the implementation guide (transaction SPRO) under "SAP Reference IMG/BW Customizing Implementation Guide/Business Information Warehouse/Reporting-Relevant Settings /Web-Based Settings".
Another reason may be the missing configuration for document storage. For more information, see note 499480. After you apply this note, you must pre-calculate the HTML pages again. Note also the following point."

Download scheduler Problem.

Hi,
I want to download the data from BW to XL files using reporting agent and download scheduler.
i have done all the settings(Query, web template, Reporting Agent, processed that Scheduling package). In the Document Overview i could see the data for processed schedulling package. we are using 3.1c. If i go with Download Scheduler, i'm getting.."YOU ARE NOT ASSIGNED TO ANY PACKAGES".
Any help, otherwise any other way to download the data?
