Offline Reports in BW

Hi Gurus,
In Our company we have implemented SAP BW 7.0 SP 19. We have reports in BEx Analyzer and Bex Web Analyzer but in the company need something additional "Offline navigational Reports".
In other words the users wants to execute the reports in their houses as they be in the company.
Are there a way or technology to do this. Something that allow to download the data and allow to user navigate in a report offline???
thanks a lot
Jose

Jose,
Offline reporting not possible in BW.
Downloading and doing analysis in spread sheets may leads to lots of mistakes and creates confusion. Not a good idea.
For some static reports, without navigation, using information broadcasting reports can be distribute to mail id  as a pdf.

    Hi,
    I already know the auth.object:
    S_FRC,
    RSRA,
    FUGR.
Now it´s working but the user still have some open points:
1 - The files are always overwriiten - it means that the data from the weeken can not be seen. There´s any parameter that can be setted that allow it to create different files each runtime?
2 - Is it need that the computer must alway be turn it on? If the file is saved on a shared file can be this problem avoided?
    Thanks,

  • BPC 5 MS version -Park and Go Offline Report is not showing any values

    Hello Everyone,
I have some reports that I created using EVGTS  and EVDES  in BPC and need to send to users who are not connected to BPC. I have attempted to save the reports via park and go with the offline option selected so that the report would not be connected to BPC. The users came back to me saying that when they opened the reports all of the cells are showing  #Name instead of the values when they open the reports. I have saved the reports to my desktop then closed out of BPC totally and opened the reports in native Excel and they display fine on my desktop. I then sent the offline report to my personal email address and opened it on my laptop which doesn't have a BPC installed on it and I got the same error as my users.   We are close to go live and will definitely need to have this functionality working for the reports in Excel to be distributed to a lot of users who are will not have access to BPC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Eleasha

Have you searched on the support site for any notes on this? I have had similar problems, related to specific builds of BPC 5.1 and specific versions of MS Excel.
I'd recommend you file a message with SAP Support, indicating the specific versions of Excel for which the report does work offline (your own machine, apparently) and does not work.
I know that a few BPC versions ago, the park-and-go feature definitely worked when sending the Excel file to a user without the BPC client installed. It's possible that this is no longer true, but I wasn't aware of the change.

  • Offline Reporting with Excel? -- complete Report +hierarchy possible?

    Hi people!
I’m new in SAP BW and I have a question regarding BEX. My goal is to get a complete Excel report that contains all the data and has a working hierarchy structure without connection to BW!
I generated a report with Query Designer whose data are represented in several hierarchy levels (option in row-header).
    =>date
    ===>area
    =====>customer
    =======>material
After the execution of the query in BEX Analyzer or in the web, only the highest level (date) is indicated. If I open the next levels, the data are reloaded of the BW each time.
But I’d like to load the data completely despite hierarchy (Transaction RSRT and then properties “load all data” is selected).
Ok to get all the data, I could change the option in Query Designer to open all the levels after the first load, but the hierarchy levels should be closed at the first time.
    <u>My Question is:</u>
Is there a possibility to get all the data offline in Excel with working hierarchy levels? It’s important for me to get a complete report without connection to BW and so the people can navigate also offline, e.g. open a lower hierarchy level with all the data.
After saving my report as *.xls-file, the report contains only the part of the shown results and the hierarchy symbols have no function.
I don’t need any symbols in offline report. I think, the excel function “group by” would enough for my requirements. But I don’t know how can I use this function with my data after running the query.
In SAP R/3 the same is possible automatically, when a report will be generate.
I have tried to find responses here in forum. But the search is unfortunately a little complicated and the results were not satisfactory.
    - Why I can’t get a list of the main-topic’s?
    - How can I get satisfactory results for multiple words?
OK, I have read something about OLE and BSP, but I hope to find an easier solution without programming.
Maybe the tool XL Reporter would be a solution, but we have no Business One licence. Unfortunately, current links for download a free version (I don’t know if its free), which I found here in the forum are not working for me. What’s wrong with XL Reporter?
I would be glad about helpful replies.

    Hi Eugene!
Thanks for your trouble and sorry for the late answer, but unfortunately I had to do a lot.
I think, to describe my idea is not so easy with my English. But maybe you can understand it.
First I should say, the web report and the offline Excel report are two different things now. I don't save the webreport to excel.
The web report gets a hierachy and other formatings and with access to BW the user can use the report just as one likes.
My idea for the offline Excel report is to save the complete data without hierarchy or other formattings. So every characteristic and every key figure is in a separate column and all rows contains data.
    date/area/customer/material/sales volume/other kf
    01.11.2005/100/34567/66000/34.000 euro/...
    01.11.2005/100/34567/67000/23.000 euro/...
    01.11.2005/100/34567/68000/14.000 euro/...
    01.11.2005/100/34567/69000/43.000 euro/...
    01.11.2005/100/40200/33000/11.000 euro/... (new customer)
    01.11.2005/100/40200/44000/10.000 euro/...
    01.11.2005/100/40200/68000/35.000 euro/...
    01.11.2005/100/40200/69000/22.000 euro/...
Then the created Excelsheet should be handled by vba.
As far as I know, you can select the data in Excelsheet with normal SQL commands. If the corresponding data are selected, I try to use the group by function in vba code.
So first I select the materials from the first customer. If I found the next customer I want to group all materials for the previous customer.
The Result should look so: (+ -> to open the materials)
    01.11.2005/100/34567/__/+____________/...
    Sum_______/___/_____/__/114.000 euro /...
    01.11.2005/100/40200/  /+____________/...
    Sum_______/___/_____/__/ 78.000 euro /...
The next Step is to group all customer in one area.
    01.11.2005/100/+_____/__/____________/...
    Sum_______/___/______/__/192.000 euro/...
    01.11.2005/200/+_____/__/____________/...
    Sum_______/___/______/__/320.000 euro/...
And the last point is to group all areas per date.
    01.11.2005/+___/_____/__/____________/...
    Sum_______/____/_____/__/512.000 euro/...
    02.11.2005/+___/_____/__/____________/...
    Sum_______/____/_____/__/433.000 euro/...
Now If I have a hierarchy structure, the offline user of the report can open the single levels to see the details.

  • SC Approval mail Language - other than mentioned in Offline report

    Hi All,
I have an issue with the approval mails.
In the offline approval /SAPSRM/OFFLINEAPPROVALSEND email language was set as English. However system is sending mails with user local language. Like if user belongs to germany then mail was triggered in German.
I have checked all the possibilities. Every were it is English. So please help me out to fix this issue.
    Thanks
    Jagad

    Hi Ricardo,
In the offline approval we are email language as Recipient language. However the language is different from the user language.
Like UK users are getting emails in French language.
Generally while sending approval mails - language will be picked from the user profile.
Even though in user profile Language EN is maintained but still it is emails are going in wrong language.
Please give me ur ideas to fix this issue.

  • HP PhotoSmart 6520, Printer offline, Wireless printing from Windows 8.1 and others

My parents own an HP PhotoSmart 6520. They have 3 or 4 computers. 1 Is connected to this printer via USB cable. 3 Are "connected" over wireless. The printer has the latest firmware updates according to checks from the printer front display.
    Problem is this:
    1) When first starting the printer, and the printer gets on the wifi network, all wifi-available devices can print to it over wifi. We are also able to browse to the printer config web pages to see status, and change configs as needed.
    2) After about 5 minutes of printer inactivity, all wireless clients can't print to the printer to print, and can't connect to the printer's web page. (The printer appears to be offline to each OS that uses WiFi to get Internet access.
    3) If we visit the printer control screen, physically attached to the pinter, find the network configuration, and choose to "turn off" wifi at the printer, then after off, "turn on" wifi and see an IP address get assigned, then all WiFi machines can print to the printer over WiFi. However, after 5 minutes, again, the printer is offline. No matter what or how much each WiFi-based machine sends to their printer queue/spool, the printer remains offline.
    4) If the USB-connected machine prints to the printer over USB, the printer once again becomes available over the wireless network.
The work-around is terrible. (Cycle WiFi access every time they need to print from Wireless devices.)
    Things we have tried:
    1) This is running the latest firmware according to the WebService section request to check for upgrades. They are on the latest according to the results. (no help)
    2) DHCP was the initial config for network settings. I moved to a DHCP server configuration with static IP served by printer MAC address. (No help)
    3) I switched to totally static IP address, thinking it might be a DHCP lease-time/renewal issue, or custom vendor string issues or bug. (no help)
    4) Enabled/Disabled IPv6 even though they are on a NAT-ed network with only IPv4 support. (no help)
    5) Visited printer config with web broswer, and change energy saver setting from "5 minutes" to "15 minutes" because the ~5 minute window seemed like an approximate time limit. (No help)
    6) Enable/Disable other settings through the web and restart the printer. (No help.)
    7) Suggestions listed here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Photosmart-6520-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/5169038/model/516... (No help)
In testing this, with static IP or not, from other machines, when we can print over WiFi to the printer, the IPv4 address is ping-able from peers on the network. After ~5 minutes pass, and the pinter goes "offline" there are no ping replies to the static or other IP address assigned to this printer. By all accounts, when the printer is "offline" it really is no longer on the WiFi network. Meanwhile, oter devices can ping each other. (All computers, smartphones, tablets, etc can all respond to ping.)
None of the other devices suffer from dropped access to the WiFi and Internet.
    Suggestions?
I do not have access to this right now, but I can walk my parents through whatever steps are needed to resolve this.
    Thanks!
    P.S. Other things tried:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/If-your-printer-drops-off-your-network/...
    1) When online, generating report, reports online
    2) When offline, report reports that it is still associated with access point
    3) Printer is about 2 feet away from the access point it is communicating with and has max-bars showing signal strength.
    4) Channel allocation for WiFi was selected based on least used channel, and works very well for all other devices on this channel.
    5) There is only one accesspoint with the name it associates with.
    6) The only options for power-saving "auto-off" we see via web pages from printer are: 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes, and changing to 15 minutes does not allow the printer to remain online for 14 minutes -- it still goes offline to the network after ~5 minutes -- even agfter changing this settings and power cycling the printer.
    7) No wireless extender is being used.
    8) We tried static IP, Dynamic IP, and statically assigned DHCP served IP.
Once printer is "offline" when visiting printer to tell printer to disable WiFi access, then re-enable it, all machines with items in their printer queue/spool *immediately* de-queue/de-spool their printer jobs to the printer.
This is the closest description: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Photosmart-6520-goes-off-line/td-p/324... Where is that patch?

    Hi @TheSynAck,
I see you are using a Hot Spot, I believe we have found the reason for the connectivity issues. There may be a setting that needs to manually configured for the Hotspot to 'allow' your printer access. Also, hotspots may have limitations and restrictions that may cause connectivity issues.
Take a look here: Setting up the Printer as a HotSpot, it shows a Laserjet but the same steps apply.
Keep in mind that Hotspot connections are 'best effort' connections due to the issues of inconsistencies within the connection. They are not routers. Therefore, you may experience issues in the future when using the Hotspot for your connection. Usually a powercycle or hard reset of the HotSpot will resolve such issues.
I would not recommend getting another Hot Spot as the connection is not guaranteed, you could however try a Wireless Router if you are looking to upgrade anyways.
With the PS 6520 you also have the ability to print using the HP Wireless Direct printing option. Please click on the link below to get started:
HP Wireless Printers - Printing with HP Wireless Direct
I hope this gives you a better understanding of the intermittent connection issues.

  • Error Message in EoL/EoS Report

currently running LMS 3.2 get the following error message when running the Eol/Eos report: under reason for failure get unable to get data from Cisco.com try again later. using the same login that is used to login to Cisco.com.

The online version of this report is currently broken.  We have been working to fix it for a while now, but unfortunately, I do not have an ETA.  The workaround is to use the offline report mode, and download the data from http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-rme .

  • Offline approval email for Workflow approver substitiutes

    Hi,
We are on SRM 7.1 ECS.
Does the substitute function work true for OFFLINE APPROVAL emails also??
E.g. User B is a substitute of User A.If user A gest the offline approval emai, then should usre B also get the offline approval email?

    Hi,
I do not think the report might have the functionality to handle the substitution. May be what you can try is take a copy of the standard report and then try to customize as per your requirement .
    Try some thing like below.
    1. I assume that to identify a substitute for a user you might be storing these details in some Z table.
    2. Take a copy of the standard offline report and then from this custom report read the try to read this table after the original agents are determined.
    3. Finally schedule this report. with the same set of parameters that used to schedule the standard report.
But I I think this report actually reads the agents of the workitems and then it tries to send the notification to the same user. So first you have to check out that how the workitem is forwarded to the substitute . If the substitute is also a agent then this report directly sends the notification.

  • Offline Backup Database

I have a production database where rows are continuously added to its tables.
I need another database that is a copy of the production database for reporting purposes. In the production system, I want Rows older than 30 days to be removed. Old Rows must never be removed from the offline reporting data base. HOW DO I DO THIS?!
I am not that familiar with Oracle or it's tools. DataGuard seems to make exact copies of the data, but when you delete from the production system, it deletes it from the duplicated system.
    Any Ideas?
    thanks, Bob

    Hi Robert,
You're right that a standby (dataguard) will not work because it mirrors the master database to the standby.
I can think of a couple of ways to achieve what you want.
The choice really falls down to how busy your production system is, and how up to date you want your off-line copy to be.
If it has to be completely up to date then you will need to copy each addition/change almost immediately. If you can afford to wait for several hours then you can get away with just copying all the changes at once.
Clone your production database as off-line, and then write a series of PL/SQL procedures to copy the information from production to off-line. Off line contains all records and every 6 hours (or more/less as required) the procedure runs. Loop through the record in production.table1, It does a lookup against off-line and if the record exists then it skips to the next. if it doesn't exist then it does an insert. (You could also make it do a lookup and see if the record exist and is the same - if it is then ignore if not then insert/update). That way your off-line database starts with all the records from production and gets added to all the time. (Part of the procedure could remove old records from production - you would need a create_date) While production stays smaller (and quicker) with the latest records only. What you would have is almost a slowly changing dimension (warehouse) on off-line. You could run the procedures automatically through OMS.
If you need immediate copying, then the only way I can see is to use triggers that insert the record into off-line as soon as it is posted into live.

I have setup reporting in ATML, Access DB and offline report format.

    Hi Nikolaj,
The station options settings are stored in the testexec.ini file. Search directories is another example of what is stored here. You can find that file and other configuration files in the <TestStand Application Data>\&#11;Cfg directory.

  • BPC Report emails only work from server (not client) - BPC v5.1

    Hi all.
Hope someone might have seen something like this before.
Basically, I setup our servers to send email from BPC about 3 weeks ago.
(NB - If it makes a difference, we use Lotus Notes via a Domino server)
The SMTP settings are all correct in BPC WebAdmin, the servers have been added to the allow list on the mail server and the port is open.
Anyway, when I try to send mail from a client (using the Offline Report Distribution Wizard), I get the following error:
"The transport failed to connect to the server".
At SAP's suggestion, I ran a test by installing Office and a BPC client directly onto the Web Server.
When I ran the wizard from the server, the email sent perfectly.
The problem I have now is that although I informed SAP of the test outcome, I haven't heard anything back in about 3 weeks, and I really need to get the reporting email system up and running properly.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this?
It's as though the system is telling the client to send the email itself, via the forwarding server, but this would mean allowing every user PC to access the mail server.
Hope you can help, but thanks for looking either way.
    Craig

    Hi Ludovic
The problem turned out to be mail server white-lists, due to the way that BPC sends emil.
Although you setup the email account/profile on the server, it actually sends from the client PC of whichever user makes the email request.
Our system is only configured to block all email requests with individual exceptions (ie a White-List).
It needed the PC of every user who would need to send email from the BPC system to be added to the white-list.
This is why it worked from the server, as we had added the server address to the list as part of the testing.
Not reall y a BPC problem, more of an issue with functionality due to the method that it uses to send the messages.
    Hope that helps
    Craig

SAP have confirmed this is an issue.  If you want to open an offline report in another version of Excel than the one that created the report you should save with extension .xlsm

  • HP cp2025dn printing problem

    hi there,
i hope there is some help out there, since i have absolutely no idea what else i could try to make my printer work via airport, which has until now worked perfectly well via direct usb connect.
via airport either way (ip or bonjour) print jobs will disappear from the printer queue, cause the printer to flash its fancy lights but never get printed or will force the printer into paused state.
i have my hp color laserjet cp2025 connected to a fresh airport express which is extending my wireless network provided by my elderly airport extreme. here is some data about their firmware and the network:
    firmware: 7.4.2 on both devices
    radio mode: 802.11.n (802.11b/g compatible)

You may want to verify that your printer USB cable is of good condition; try swapping it with another one.
The problem is "Unable to write print data: Broken pipe" which implies that the USB connection was somewhat abruptly broken/disrupted while data was being sent.
