Offline work, review, xml...

Hello.
I've taken my inDesign document to my parent's house, nice, quiet place, sun, trees, high unemployment rate, very little internet.
This is when i discovered that csReview is part of csLive. Meaning that offline, it's (painfully) useless.
I hadn't noticed when working at my home/office, broadband, wifi, csLive and Acrobat.com always available. I even thought that, somehow, all the loaded stuff, updated constantly in review was transmitted, and maybe even kept on my computer.
I'd say, the logic would be "transmit once the xml of the comments, transmit the pictures around the comments, keep all this somewhere, and then, transmit the xml of the new comments and of the new images, and if required, of the changed comments…"
I even thought "maybe there's somewhere hidden an xml file i could use and parse myself to print out my client's comments"…
Well, i haven't had that luck yet…
So my question is : is everything kept and locked under Acrobat.com, is there any chance of working offline, and as i haven't found by myself, could someone lead me to the right procedure ?

CSReview is by intent setup as a “resident online” functionality.
Yep, i see that, and, as of today, that's exactly what's not going
right, for my purpose.
I'll give you more : at my parents, there's wifi, and i don't even
have to go to starbuck's (which is 30km from here). And under the
trees, i just can't reach the wifi. But it's summer. And working under
the trees is a luxury i'd love Especially when it's only a couple
of text corrections...
I know the end looks like : be connected, or go back to the good old
pdf review...

This does help me because I am pondering on wether to buy an airport extreme to solve my ipad 2 connection woes. I have an extremely old router dLink 524....but I have NEVER had any problems with it at all ever. My xbox connected great to it and netflix ran flawless through my xbox.....now I have an ipad2 and an apple tv and they are BOTH having horrible connection problems. I have read most of the forums on how to fix it by changing the settings on my router but since mine is so old I couldn't do some of the suggested solutions. So here I am debating on whether to spend all this $ on an airport extreme? I am just hoping that if I go and purchase this, my connectivity issues problems will go away like yours did. Just wondering if you have ATV as well and if the AE solved its problems? I have read about AE solving ipad2 wifi problems, I'm just hoping it will solve my ATV as well.

Problem when load more swf files work with xml files into my movie

I have one flash file & more of swf files which work with xml files .
when I load one swf file into my flash file and remove it and load anther one on the same movieclip in my flash file it load the old swf file.
when i load one on movieclip and remove it and load anther swf on anther movieclip the file doesn`t work and stoped.
when test my flash file to load and remove swf files without xml file it work fine but when repleaced the swf files with other work with xml files the problem hapend.

YOu should trace the names of the files that are being targeted for loading to see if they agree with what you expect. If you want help with the coding you will need to show the code that is relevant to your problem (not all of it)

Can anyone that works wirth xml in InDesign help me

I am trying to create a schema to get an Excel workbook into xml so I can take that information and make a member list in inDesign CS6 so I don't have to type it by hand. This is the schema:

When I bring the schema into Excel, everything seems to be fine except that the top of the tree is wrong in excel. memberList is nott at the top ot the tree. When I pull it over to populate the cells I get no names but when i click on the cell it highlights the proper name in the tree.

Can anyone that works wirth xml in inDesign help me

I typically get XML from a database, or an Excel sheet without the troublesome XML mapping. Once I simply received an Access database. Access spits out XML in a mostly usable state.
I use an XML editor that converts the Excel sheet to XML, do any needed transformations, search and replaces, etc in the editor, then save it as an XML I use in ID. The editor is XML Blueprint. I often do other manipulations using UltraEdit as I have long used it for programming and am comfortable with it.
I did a test in Excel's requisite mapping and found it so cumbersome I didn't successfully get it to export in the 20 minutes it took me to try it. I suspect I could do it with more head scratching but I don't have much hair left.
But I'll give it another try later today or tonight and see if I can help in the way you want to go about it.

Do you work with XML/XSL in a JSP Portlet to build your presentation?
We are having trouble with german Umlauts and want to know a way for XML in portlets in general.

We use the Oracle XML Parser and XSL transformer in a JSP Portlet. The XML is referenced throu a URL from our XML server.
The XSL file is in the portlet directory.
Our Problem is:
Even if we use encoding attributes set to UTF-8 we are not able to display Umlauts correctly. They are not encoded to HTML Umlauts (e.g. ü to ü).
We tested our code with Apache Xalan and Xerces and everything works fine.
I think that Oracle XML parser treats things not as they are recommended by W3C.
Finally we gave up parsing XML with oracle Parser and now use Apache XML/XSL Parsers.
Or do you know a better way?

Let's assume that variable "node" contains one element of the
XML. For example,

Word count feature that comes with version 32 does not work in xml file.

Firefix won't run. Getting "clear offline work menu". Help!

This issue came upo right after I downloaded the latest vesion of Firefox. I have no idea what the "offline work menu" is.
Firefox has worked fine until now.

A professional will image your drive and attempt a bit by bit file recovery method directly from the drive itself.
You see when you delete something, it's not quite erased yet, but the space the file took is available to be overwritten, so it's only a matter of time before that occurs and the file is really gone.
So they will recover what they can, and then restore your machine and it's software and return the recovered files.
The TimeMachine is certainly going to assist, good thing you got it.
The trick is to hire someone and quit using the computer until they rescue you, show you in person how to rescue yourself .

Learning to work with XML

Hello!
Can anyone point me to some resources/turtorials/books etc from where to learn more about working with XML in indesign?
So far all I found on the net are some simple tutorials to make business cards and the like..
I need to make large books (for example, right now i'm working on a cookbook), and i'we seen some amazing examples of what can be achieved using a XML workflow.
Related question: where can i find some documentation about the "aid" namespace (i think that's the correct term? for example: <element aid:pstyle="blahblah">

Problem creating WebDav connection to review XML schema in JDeveloper 10g

I am trying to review some XML schema and cannot seem to create a WebDav connection. I entered all the relevant info and keep getting the following error :Testing connection...
Connection test failed: unable to connect
Unable to connect to WebDav Connection1 (http://localhost:8080/)
May require proxy to connect to the location,
when I tried to test the connection. The tips given in the help section didn't work either. Could someone please help me?

I think it may be relevant to mention that I am trying to create a connection on my local network.
Had no problems when I try to connect to enterprise manager,or iSQL*plus console, or creating a database connection through Jdeveloper, or even to the HTTP server through the browser. I am using windowsXP platform BTW, if it makes a difference, and Jdeveloper 10g. When I try to create the webDav Connection it still gives me the connection failed error, .....

Unable to get translation working with XML bursting

I am working on bursting an XML report using the DocumentProcessor API in an EBS environment. The XML publisher report has .xlf translation for Dutch Netherlands (nl-NL). The report works fine when printing through the EBS using the nl-NL locale. But however if I try to set the locale in the bursting and try to print the XML publisher report it is printing only in American English (Main translatable template's locale). Can't get out.print to work with XML jsp tags

I can't get this script to work with the XML stype jsp tags. It keeps telling me the <jsp> tags are untermintaed. Is there a special trick to fix this or do I have to use the non-XML type tags?

InsertHTML won't work with XML files

I am trying to create a command that writes text to an open
XML file. The command I've created works fine under some
circumstances but not others.
It works if I open an XML file and apply the command without
editing the file. If I make any edits to the file manually and then
apply the command, it doesn't insert anything.
It works fine with HTML files in design view, but in code
view, if I make any edits and then run the command, nothing
happens. If I switch to design view and back again, the command
then works fine.
I tested the built-in Dreamweaver command "Flash Text" on an
XML file (after editing it so it could be used with an XML file),
and the same problem occurs with this command when using it on an
XML file. The problem didn't occur with HTML in code view, though.
Below is the .JS file for my command. The corresponding HTML
file contains only an empty form.
