Offset & position properties - will they eventually be enabled?

The offset and position property fields on objects such as charts and panels are currently disabled.    Is there any plan for making these properties available in upcoming releases?
Having these properties available would be extremely helpful.  We create dashboards with large numbers of small 'sparkline' sized charts.  The default location for chart titles makes it impossible to stack small charts close together while displaying the title property.   Consequently, the only recourse is to not display the title on the chart, but instead use a separate label object that can be positioned where desired - eg, to the left of the chart.  While this workaround works, it makes for a very messy and high maintenance dashboard, as you have 2x the number of objects than you should need, and makes the most efficient development workflow (create one object just the way you want it and then duplicate it many times) clumsy and not so efficient.
On panels, it would be very helpful to be able to change the position of the title (eg, to the bottom or vertically along the side) and also to be able to change the thickness of the title area - we find that they generally too thick, taking up valuable real estate unnecessarily that could be better used displaying data objects.

Depends on the type of cable really, if its 'phone wire', you know those thin strands of copper coated steel then that would kill the broadband.
Also most peoples extensions are the untwisted 10, 15, 25, etc metres reels you can buy from a supermarket, again not ideal for ADSL Broadband, let alone FTTC.

so I've changed my hard drive for an ssd and now I've been told to enable trim  ?  now I've got the apple cover will they show me how to enable it with out some program of the internet ?

Use an app called chameleon ssd optimizer.
I enabled trim with it after almost a year of having installed a Samsung 840 pro SSD and my read/write speeds almost quadrupled.
I would definite;y advise using it even though Samsung SSD's come with there own garbage disposal.
    Hope that helps.

  • When using a Seagate 1T external hard drive and Time Machine to back up hourly, if I delete photo files from the Mac hard drive before the next back up, are these retained on the Seagate drive or will they be lost (overwritten) in the next backu in the ne

Does Time Machine erase previously saved files if, say, photos are deleted from the Macbook upon the next update, or will they be stored indefinately despite the current status of the files stored on the computer? Eg. can I bckup photo files to a Seagate 1T disc and then delete them to make more room on the computer in the knowlwdge that they are always going to be on the Seagate disc? Sorry if this is very elementary but I have not used a back up before like this, and am not sure how successive backups are overlaid or retained. Thanks!!

TM is not designed to do what you ask. As Allan wrote TM is an incremental backup not an archival solution.
If you delete a file from the HD it will eventually be removed from the TM backup (if it ever makes it on to the backup at all).
How long before it is removed depends on a number of factors, TM disk drive size being one factor but not the only one.
Material that is impossible to replace and is important to you (image files usually fitting that description) need to be backed up to as least one other drive and preferably more for long term storage.

  • HT201317 Once photostream pictures are downloaded onto my mac will they stay in iPhoto forever after i have deleted them off of my phone?

Once photostream pictures are downloaded onto my mac will they stay in iPhoto forever after i have deleted them off of my phone?

When I synced my iPhone I my Mac , it automatically created a file called photo stream and imported all photos from phone into that file on my Mac.
Do you mean the "Photo Stream" album in the "Web" section of iPhoto? Like shown here?
If that is the only place where you are seeing your photos, in "my Photo Stream" in the "Web" section of Photo, then you need to copy these photos to an event to import them into the library.
The Photo Stream album is only showing you what currently can be imported from iCloud, and the photos will vanish after a month, so you are having a limited time to grab them.
If you have enabled "Automatic Import" in iPhoto's Photo Stream Preferences, it should already have created an event "July Photo Stream" and other monthly events with the photos from the streams. What find in these monthly events has been savely imported.

  • After transaction completed in undo tablespace what would happen? will they

after transaction completed in undo tablespace what would happen?
will they take out of undo tablespace or segment?
    please elaborate, thank you

    Hi,
Even, if the transaction is committed, there may remains a need to retain the undo data. For instance, for the long running queries or for the flashback features. In automatic undo management, you may specify the undo retention period, which is the minimum amount of time that Oracle Database attempts to retain old undo information before overwriting it.
One may also enable the retention guarantee, which ensures that the undo data will remain in the undo tablespace, even if that means that the transaction would fail due to lack of space in the undo tablespace.
In addition, also read the following:

  • New Signature updates will they overwirite old Tuned signatures

    Good day,
I will be updating my sensors from s328 to S356. Question, will my previous Tuned rules/actions be overwritten by the new signature defaults ??
    Thanks,

I'd give this a qualified "maybe". There is a case where the signature team might have disabled or retired a signature. That disable/retired action could pull the signature from your active list. It will still appear tuned, but it will also be disabled and/or retired. Other parameters that the sig team changes will be overridden by your tunings.
The issue with the enable/retire settings is that they are default enabled and not retired.... When you tune a signature, the instance file (/usr/cids/idsRoot/etc/config/signatureDefinition/instances/sig?.xml) records the changes to the default settings (default.xml). Since the signature is enabled and not retired when you tune it(typically), you typically don't change that default. Now the signature team changes the default value, then there is nothing in the sig?.xml file to override the "new default" and the signature is disabled and or retired.
A workaround for this is that you can explicitly tune the signature to be enabled and not retired. This tuning will be stored in the instance file and override any changes to the default values.
The exception to the default value override is the signature team's use of "obsoletes"...they have the ultimate trump to replace one signature with another (but thats a topic in itself).
The customer's equivalent counter-trump is that they can clone the Cisco signature into a custom signature. The signature updates can't mess with them.

  • If I have my photos backed up with iCloud, can I delete them off my phone and will they be saved?

If I have my photos backed up with iCloud, can I delete them off my phone and will they be saved?  We can't do the IOS 7 upgrade and notice that the photos are taking up the most memory.  If I delete these, but they are backed up on iCloud, will I lose them all if they aren't stored anywhere else?

    Hi...
If you delete the backups it will not delete any content from their device, however the data will be removed from iCloud.
It will also prevent the devices from backing up to iCloud in future, unless this is re-enabled.

I have 1200 pics on camera roll and 900 on photo stream. 1. why are they different? 2. if all are supposedly backed up on iCloud if I delete all photos on my phone will they still be on iCloud or do I need to separately download them to my pc first?

Photos are only uploaded to iCloud after photo stream is enabled.  It's possible that you already had 300 photos in your camera roll when you turn it on so they weren't uploaded.  Also, photo stream also only maintains photos for 30 days, although earlier photos already streamed to your device from photo stream are not deleted.  If you had turned photo stream off, then back on, and the 300 photos fell outside of this 30-day window at the time, they would not be in your photo stream album.  (FYI, photo stream will also only save the last 1000 photos.)
If you delete the photos on your phone from the camera roll album, photo stream will be not be effected.  If you delete them from the photo stream album on your phone, they will be deleted from your photo stream on your phone and any other devices connected to the same iCloud account/photo stream.
To keep your camera roll photos permanently, don't rely on photo stream as a backup.  Import them to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).

  • I'm giving my MBP 2011 to Apple tomorrow for a logic board replacement. Will they format my hard drive?

    Hi,
I'll start with the issue. Sometimes randomly my laptop goes to sleep while im using it. It is impossible to wake up from this sleep and forces me to force power off the device. Apple did some tests and concluded I need to replace the logic board.
    I have a few questions.
I understand they use refurbished logic boards, is it possibly I end up with a worse logic board.
The hard drive does not need to be formated, will they format it? I have backups but I understand time machine can become troublesome after a logic board replacement. I have a very specific set up and I would need it just as it is.
    Thanks

They very likely will, and they may return it with the version of OS X originally installed.
We are users like you, so we are in no position to tell you about such hardware repairs.
You should have a full backup available. Time Machine will not recognize the computer as your old one neither to restore or to backup. Time Machine will start a completely new backup. My advice is to make a bootable clone you can easily restore:
Clone Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
             button.
         2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
         3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
         4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
             to the Destination entry field.
         5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
             the Source entry field.
         6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

  • C7-00 and NFC: When will the chip be enabled?

Is there any new word on when the update for the C7-00 will be available that enables the NFC chip?
I've purchased a C7-00 especially to migrate an application over to it that currently works on the 6212, but that phone is no longer manufactured.

NearFieldCommunicationsWorld.com have just release an article about taking one of these phones apart. It definately has the chip in it, and they say "In order to enable this functionality, Nokia only needs to provide firmware that comes with the appropriate software stack"
I really wish Nokia would give mus some kind of heads up when this is going to be available, the GPS functionality combined with the NFC is in high demand in the market I work. We are currently working with the Sagem Cosy phone, which is not as good by a long shot, but considerably cheaper.
Any news on this yet Nokia?

  • Iphone 4 home button not working, called never fixed, then cracked screen before bringing it back again, will they blame the cracked screen if i bring it back?

I bought an iPhone 4 less than a year ago, then one day the home button randomly stopped working, I bought the warranty so I decided to call in and see what was wrong with it. The girl said that restoring the phone would correct the problem which it did. But it is only a temporary fix, it happens more often now. So I was meaning to call in soon, but the other day my phone fell out of my pocket IN CASE from a foot height and cracked the screen. I nearly threw up. All the years I have had a phone I have never cracked or broken one, strongest screen my ***. Anyway, if I contact them again now will they fix the home button problem? or will they say that the cracked screen is obviously the cause of the home button not working? which it is not!! I don't care about the screen being cracked its not on the actual screen just on the side so its irrelevant to me. Plus I heard it is outrageosly pricey to replace.

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.
    Regards.

  • Our family has 1 Apple id. My sons received many itunes gift cards. Can I set up sub-accounts under my id? If I create new ids, will they lose access to the content purchased under wmy id?

Our family has 1 Apple id with 2 itouches, 1 ipad and 1 iphone.  My sons received several itunes gift cards. Can I set up sub-accounts under my id and deposit their gift cards into them (like a bank account)? If I can't, it seems that I will have to keep track of each of their purchases until they reach the limit of their gift cards, before they go over.  This makes no sense.  If I have to create new ids, will they lose access to all the content purchased under my id?

    - You can't create subaccounts.
    - You can create new account(s). The media on the iPod is still usable. It does create more work when updating apps since yo have to sign into the account that purchased them to update them. If you have apps purchased from more than one account that need update you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased with one account.
    - To change accounts for purchasing go to Settings> Store (or Settings.iTunes and App store depending upon the iOS) and sign out and sign in with different account.

  • My iPhone 4 has never backed up to anything, the account I started it with I never used. I now have a new icloud account, if I delete the old one will I lose my photos or will they still be on my phone?

My iPhone 4 has never backed up to anything, the account I started it with I never used so I was never able to verify it or anything. I now have a new icloud account and I want to backup my phone before I get a new one in a couple of days. If I delete the old account will I lose my photos or will they still be on my phone (remember they've never been backed up)? Thanks!

You cannot delete an Apple ID, you can just stop using it. If your photos are still on your phone now, then I suggest you do back them up. Transfer them from the phone into your iPhoto Library. iCloud only backs up your Camera Roll automatically. But the Camera Roll only contains new photos that were taken but not yet transferred using iTunes.
